Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (29th March)

DonierGunad

Xenoblade X for me this Weekend. It was my first Xenoblade game ten years ago and to be honest, I rushed it. Since then though ive played and completed XC1, 2, 3& the dlc and have developed a strong love for the series. Now that I'm ten years older I'm going to take my time with this and enjoy it. I only got the game today and I'm already 5 hours in!!

Regardless of the changes to THPS4 I'm sure I'll still love THPS3 and 4. I just hope as with this article, they capture the spirit of it. You can't replicate the launch day title of the THPS3 of the cube (which I might add as a free pack in with the cube @£129.99) you just can't beat it!! So it's a tall order for older gamers, those that are new I hope you enjoy to it's fullest.

Re: Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 + 4 Officially Revealed For Nintendo Switch

DonierGunad

I remember pre-ordering my GameCube along with THPS3 and Rogue leader on launch day 17th of May 2002. I spent all day playing THPS3, great memories. Especially the skate park editor. Really good game amd really glad there remaking/remastering it. THPS4 was good, but obviously didn't have the same impact on me. Looking forward to this one, though I'll hold out to see if it's announced for Switch 2.

Re: Poll: 10 Years On, Which Version Of Zelda: Majora's Mask Is Best?

DonierGunad

You kind of nailed it in the first paragraph for me. There was something about the N64 version that just felt all the more weird. What makes me choose the original over the 3DS version is pure nostalgia. The 3DS version os still really good and enjoyed playing but, the N64 version is the one I love to play even now.

Re: Xbox Is "Really Looking Forward" To Supporting Switch 2

DonierGunad

Point is even with Xbox own IPs, I'll still have a Switch backlog to see me through even the Switch 2's life cycle. I'm mainly looking forward to Nintendo's first party titles. After all, that's why I buy Nintendo hardware. Having strong 3rd party support has been great on the Switch, but for me personally, it is not why I bought one. Though it is nice to see other Platform manufacturers get excited about new new Nintendo hardware because there always looking to innovate and though the Switch 2 may not be ground-breaking, I'm sure there will be a things they'll add that will be pretty unique or, on the negative side, be a straight up gimmick.

Re: Four First-Party Switch Games Nominated For New York Game Awards

Paper Mario TYD gets my vote for sure. I absolutely loved it!! It was such a shame it had to end to be honest. I bought Paper Mario The Origami, expecting a similar experience but unfortunately its just didn't live up to my expectations. That's not to say its a bad game, but I found the battle system pretty jarring and took a bit of time to get use too.

Re: Nintendo Highlights Multiple Switch Games Launching In 2025

DonierGunad

I'm sticking to only getting 3 releases so far this year. Metroid Prime 4 is a must, I remember getting the Orignal Metroid Prime on release when I was 18 and loved the Prime series since. Dragon quest 1&2 HD is definitely a pre-order, who doesn't love a bit of dragon quest eh? And finally Xenoblade Chronicles X. It'll be cool if the new content leads to hint of where the series is going next.

I also put money aside every month last year in anticipation for release of switch 2. Definitely going to try my best and get that on pre-order.

Re: Nintendo Now Officially Owns 100% Of Monolith Soft

DonierGunad

I wish that ment they bought rights to Xenogears. I think a remaster of that game would be epic. It's a shame it doesn't. I would imagine Takahashi and his wife would expand on it and give it the love they wanted to all those years ago. Still I'm looking forward to there future releases.

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake?

DonierGunad

I liked it so much, even before it was released that I forgot I pre-ordered twice!! And ended up with 4 copies. One special edition from Sqaure Enix website 2 from amazon (PS5 and Switch) and one switch copy from Game.....I'm normally so good at keeping an eye on what I pre-order, but this? It was like I was trying to hurt my future self in the bank balance.

Re: Aspyr Is Remastering Yet Another Star Wars Game For Switch

DonierGunad

It's nice for those that enjoyed, but the choice is a bit puzzling to be honest. A remaster of the N64 amd Gamecube rogue squadrons would be awesome though. I'd especially love remaster of Rogue squadron 2 on the cube. Ive still got my European launch day copy and my launch day cube. I've had to replace the lid on it but it still runs games even after 22 years of use!! I still play MK double dash and conflict desert storm 2 with my mates at least once a week for a lads night.

Re: DOOM Anthology Revealed For Switch - Includes Six Games And Replica BFG, Pre-Orders Now Live

DonierGunad

Already have the doomslayers collection which came with doom 2016 on the cart and the rest where download codes a few years ago. It was disappointing at the time because I thought I was getting them all on cartridge and this is just more of the same. I think a better collection would have been the Quake games and older Doom titles all on cartridge and announced Doom Eternal physical release with DLC as download seeing as you can get Doom 2016 on Cart anyway.

Re: Poll: Are You Ready To Move On From The Switch?

DonierGunad

I think personally I would like new hardware, if not only for the novelty of having some hardware with a lot more under hood to have spectacular games on the go. However, if I was to be sensible, I've been at age now where graphics mean little and performance is key, so I don't really mind sticking with the current Switch or even if the new hardware was some what of a minor leap in comparison. As long as games are smooth to play, have a decent fidelity and are enjoyable, then I'm all in. Though I really would love to see Ninty make the new hardware backwards compatible so I could finish off my backlog amd play them, in some cases, at a good frame rate and possibly bumped up visuals.

Re: UK Charts: Switch Games Take Up Eight Of The Top Ten

DonierGunad

@SBandy1 Shows how much I pay attention to the console split. I suppose I'm still used to EA giving the watered down versions to Nintendo platforms since Wii. Though the Switch has been the best console Nintendo have put together since the Snes. That's not to say console post Snes where rubbish, far from it, but the Switch just has some magic about it. Magic I don't get from my PlayStation 4 or 5, last time Sony really nailed it for me was the PS3, love that console.

Re: Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake Looks Stunning In New Gameplay Footage

DonierGunad

So most of the 2D elements (trees and other prop scenery) that are in the other HD-2D games are now fully 3D? Not that I'm complaining, it looks fantastic. I just don't see the Switch version running so smooth both Octopath traveller games had framerate dips and so did triangle strategy, they weren't game breaking sure, but I do worry slightly. Sure it'll amount to nothing. I was also expecting the pixilated textures as well, like I'm use to with HD-2D games. Oh well Still can't wait to play this.

Re: Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door Update Now Live (Version 1.0.1), Here Are The Full Patch Notes

DonierGunad

@Not_Soos Agreed, I remember when WWF No Mercy released on the N64 in November of 2000 and it came out with a game breaking glitch that would erase all the career progress and you couldn't save a anything (for Europe at least). Game (known as Electronics Boutique at the time) ended up having to make a product recall and it took a further 3 months for THQ to iron out the bug and re-release. I know there are other examples but this one stands out the most for me.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (29th June)

DonierGunad

I'm sticking with Octopath traveller. I'm really getting into it. I've completed chapter 2 for all 8 characters and completed chapter 3 for 2 characters so far. I'm enjoying all the individual stories and experimenting with secondary jobs to gain maximum balance at the moment. I can't believe I slept on this for so long!! It's absolutely great!! And I'm having a blast. Currently 72 hours in and trying my hardest to stick to one game at a time. Over on PS5 though it's cyberpunk 2077 which I am also really enjoying.
