It looks...fine? I know that they'll bombard us with info when we get to April, but that trailer didn't exactly scream "Buy this now!". Eh, whatever. I'm mostly just in it for the games anyway.
Well, at least it's still slated for this year. At least I hope it is. Been saving money for this ever since it was announced so hopefully the wait isn't too long.
@Not_Soos Yeah, I've noticed that while reading some of the reviews and playing myself. Pretty lame honestly. Especially since this is one of the more well-paced and polished games in the series so far.
I'll see if it's the "best" Mario Party since 6. One of the main things I hated about modern Mario Party is how safe they can sometimes feel. Glad to see this fixes that.
As others have said, this is basically the Switch's last holiday season. Best to just let it have its final moments for the next few months before moving on.
9/10 easily. It's basically everything I wanted from a remake. Not touching what wasn't broken, but instead giving simple but effective improvements and changes that go a long way.
I always have bought mine new, whether it's day one or a couple of weeks after. I do sometimes trade them in when I need money but it's really not a big deal since I mostly drain them dry of the content offered.
Announced? Most likely. Released? Maybe it will, maybe not. We'll see.
Regardless of what happens, Nintendo better say something this year. With every passing year the system is slowly but surely showing its age. The fact that they keep shoving, remasters, DLC, and remakes down our throats lately is pretty telling.
@Balladeer Couldn't agree more. He's one of those companions that says so much painfully obvious things that are so superfluous. Also, as far as I'm concerned, Mario platformers aren't supposed to have this much talking. And when it is, it's mostly kept at a minimum. So I don't know what they were thinking here.
One of the best games I've played this year. It was soooo much fun that I've done almost everything needed to do in it—something I only really do when it comes to games that I absolutely love. Really hope we get an Octopath Traveler 3, because who knows? That might be the best one of them all.
I sometimes used to watch this guy here and there. Heck, he was one of the very few YouTubes that I could actually tolerate and take seriously. But after this? Nah, inexcusable. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.
Had a feeling it would happen, but nonetheless a little gutted that it did. It personally didn't matter to me if E3 would happen each year or not since Summer is when gaming news generally goes full-blast anyway, but I will forever cherish the memories I had watching this event.
Yeah, that was pretty bad. Easily some of the worst parts of the show for sure. And as you said, it could be because Keighley took the criticism of Judge's speech a bit too well. Not that it matters as it's still pretty disrespectful.
Played the demo and liked what I saw. I also like that SE keeps releasing these types of games like with Octopath 2 and Live a Live. Dunno why, it just...feels good.
While I did want a new entry, I'm totally fine with this. Especially considering that it would've been a whole lot worse. Like if they made a new F-Zero, instead of it being a racing game, it would've been a weird tacky first-person shooting or something.
Paper Mario and the Peach game were the highlights for me. Not the strongest Direct for me, but hey...all the more reason to look forward to the successor.
Keeping my expectations in check, as always. While there definitely will be some big things, I can't help but feel that this one wouldn't be quite as strong as the previous two. Love to be proved wrong, though. And if not, then it's really not a problem since there's so much coming out.
Eh, I wasn't really expecting too much anyway. Normally these things cover what is already known with maybe a curveball or two. Shame this wasn't one of those times.
Looks absolutely incredible. The fact that everything looks so weird and wacky and...different...! God, it feels so go to see something fresh from this series again!

Re: The Game Awards GOTY For 2024 Is Astro Bot
Deserved. Easily one of the best games I've played in years.
Re: Poll: It's Almost Time For The Game Awards, But Are You Expecting Much Switch News?
Nope. But I'll watch it anyway because it's always fun watching these crappy shows.
Re: Rumour: One Of Kirby's 3DS Titles Will Return Next Year, It's Claimed
I'm down, assuming its true. Game is one of my all-time favorites.
Re: Wario Land-Inspired 'Antonblast' Suffers Last-Minute Delay On Switch
Well, at least it's still slated for this year. At least I hope it is. Been saving money for this ever since it was announced so hopefully the wait isn't too long.
Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Mario & Luigi: Brothership?
7/10. Far better than the two mainline games that came before it, and...that's all I can say about it.
Re: Video: Super Mario Party Jamboree - Every Minigame Included
@Not_Soos Yeah, I've noticed that while reading some of the reviews and playing myself. Pretty lame honestly. Especially since this is one of the more well-paced and polished games in the series so far.
Re: Review: Super Mario Party Jamboree (Switch) - Only The Best Game In The Series
I'll see if it's the "best" Mario Party since 6. One of the main things I hated about modern Mario Party is how safe they can sometimes feel. Glad to see this fixes that.
Re: Feature: "There Was More We Wanted To Say" - One Of 2023's Best Games Gets 'The Pristine Cut' On Switch
I'm so glad that this game's finally gonna release on consoles so even more can experience it. An absolute masterclass of storytelling this game has.
Re: Rumour: 'Industry Whispers' Fuel Speculation Of A Switch 2 Reveal This Month
As others have said, this is basically the Switch's last holiday season. Best to just let it have its final moments for the next few months before moving on.
Re: Random: Everybody 1-2-Switch! Was A Best-Seller In July 2024
I honestly forgot this game existed.
Re: Poll: Do You Prefer Fire Emblem: Three Houses Or Engage?
Three Houses easily. Outside of the great gameplay, I barely remember anything that happened in Engage.
Re: Nintendo Direct June 2024: Every Announcement, Game Reveal, Trailer
Yeah, this Direct wasn't bad. I got some of the stuff I wished for and some others things too.
Re: We're Getting A Brand New 'Mario & Luigi' RPG This November
Nice to see that we're getting another entry. Felt way too long since the last one.
Re: Nintendo Direct June 2024: Time, Where To Watch, What To Expect
It's June so normally these things have something earth-shattering. Hoping they deliver on things I'm interested in seeing.
Re: Poll: How Would You Rate The Summer Game Fest 2024 Opening Showcase?
It went from decent to okay-ish. It started a bit strong initially, only to fall off a cliff in the second half.
Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door?
9/10 easily. It's basically everything I wanted from a remake. Not touching what wasn't broken, but instead giving simple but effective improvements and changes that go a long way.
Re: Review: Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door (Switch) - Still The King Of Mario RPGs
Deserved. Words alone can't describe how long I've waited for this moment. I seriously can't wait.
Re: Poll: Are You Bothered By The Frame Rate For Paper Mario: TTYD On Switch?
Unfortunate, but fine. Game could chug and stutter all it wants. Still won't stop me from getting the game I've been asking for ages.
Re: Pokémon Legends Z-A Announced, Coming To Switch In 2025
Good to see we're getting another Legends game as the last one was fairly good. Kinda wish it was based on B&W since that was my favorite gen.
Re: Mother 3 Is Coming To Nintendo Switch Online, But There's A Catch
Ugh! You had me!
Re: Poll: How Often Do You Trade-In Your Switch Games?
I always have bought mine new, whether it's day one or a couple of weeks after. I do sometimes trade them in when I need money but it's really not a big deal since I mostly drain them dry of the content offered.
Re: When Will The First Nintendo Direct Of The Year Be? Let's Look To The Past
February, like it's almost always have been.
Re: Talking Point: Could Nintendo Go Another Year Without A Switch Successor?

Re: Poll: What Is Your Favourite Character Reveal Trailer For Super Smash Bros. Ultimate?
Sephiroth, no question. Not in a million years would I have thought he'd make the cut given all the weird rights crap, but here we are.
Re: Review: Persona 5 Tactica - Thrillingly Varied Turn-Based Strategy With Joker And Co.
It can wait. Got so many other games to worry about both in and out of my backlog. Glad to see it did well, though.

Keep dreaming.

Re: Review: Super Mario Bros. Wonder - The Best 2D Mario Since The Super NES
Expected. Can't wait for Friday.
Re: Random: Players Share Bananas Gameplay Of New King Kong Game, And It's Not Looking Good
Released in the same week as Wonder and SM2? Two of some of the biggest games this year? Yeesh, it's like they wanted people to rip this to shreds.
Re: Soapbox: 'Switch 2' Doesn't Really Need Backwards Compatibility
No, it does. It absolutely does.

Never thought I'd see the day that this would be a thing Just...wow. I am absolutely getting this the millisecond preorders go live.

Like the variety in this. Looks to be a fun time.

Re: Poll: Will There Be A September Nintendo Direct This Year?
Don't see why we wouldn't. We've been getting them for years, so why stop the trend now?
Re: Charles Martinet Will No Longer Be The Voice Of Mario
An end of an era indeed. Godspeed, man.
Re: Pokémon Presents August 2023: Every Announcement, Full Livestream
Eh, I wasn't really expecting too much anyway. Normally these things cover what is already known with maybe a curveball or two. Shame this wasn't one of those times.
Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl: Duel - Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions
Europe, no question. Really couldn't stand how they keep using those minimalistic boxarts for North America. They're charming, sure, but not for me.
Re: Talking Point: What Makes A Good Sidequest, Anyway?
Character development, worldbuilding, and a good reward for your efforts are what I love to see in my sidequests.
Re: Poll: What Did You Think Of Today's Nintendo Direct?
That was good. Really, really good. While I personally wouldn't say it was the best one, it definitely delivered on what I wanted to see.

Sooooo happy to see this be a thing. I can't wait for it!
Re: Random: Some Square Enix Staff Really Want A Final Fantasy VI Remake
A remake of VI would be an absolute dream come true. Wouldn't care how long it takes, as I loved that game to bits.
