Just want features from New Leaf and I'm set. Hoping on The Roost and gyroids in the next update, along with the return of Leif's store.

@AlexOlney Are you able to comment on whether or not we've seen all of the special characters and shops so far? That's my biggest concern heading into it.

One of the few Western characters I'd be fine with. They'd have to tone them down, obviously.

No need to say Black Flag is the best AC game "pre-Origins and Odyssey". It's still the best. The new AC games are just overstuffed GaaS, hardly resembling previous entries.

@Anti-Matter Couldn't agree more. The fact that basic features like seasons and pets have been normalized to appear as DLC is insane.

In future, I would prefer they continue the game-specific experimentation (Ring Fit, Labo), but keep their systems more like the Switch going forward. Of course, they might have an idea even better than the Switch at some point, but it's hard to imagine.

@Mountain_Man Probably (hopefully) because they are planning at least one more expansion.

@JamesJose7 I've yet to play the expansions but they add a whole host of new features including loyalty and natural disasters, not to mention 16 new civilizations and 2 alternate leaders. I'd say they're more than worth it. I'd like to think they'll also include the map editor with these expansions, but it's unconfirmed.

The framerate looked atrocious in the trailer for the game so I'm glad to hear that it's not a big of an issue to knock down the score.

@SHULZ021 Asylum and City would be insta-buys on Switch for me.

Open world games are so samey to me. Of course Ubisoft won't be going back because it's much easier to push microtransactions in a numbers-based game like Odyssey than one of their previous AC games.

So odd to see people celebrating the fall of a game from its previous position in the charts. People take NSMB way too personally.

Looks like I'm in the minority on this website but I love AC3! It was my entry into the series and for that I'll always fondly remember it. I much prefer this style of AC game over the generic action-adventure open world RPGs they put out now. However, I've been craving a remaster for this game for a while now and for that reason, I'll likely get the PC version (if there is one) as I'm willing to sacrifice portability for graphics on this one.

I'm glad that Ubisoft is still supporting the Switch though so I hope it sells well. Ezio Collection, Black Flag, and Rogue would also be nice. I never understood why they didn't release Rogue Remastered last year.

The more games from previous consoles on the Switch the better, I say. Metroid Prime Trilogy would be a great addition to the system's library.

If it really is a thing, we'll likely see it in the next Direct. Maybe as late as E3.

Blue Toad's absence was the only con over the original game for me. I was going to get it anyway but it was cool to find out he was still in.

I think that Nintendo has moved on from strictly home consoles now to begin with. If their next system didn’t have the portability of the Switch, that would be a major step back. That’s all I believe Furukawa is saying here. Going back to a traditional home console wouldn’t make any sense from a business or creative standpoint for Nintendo.

I’m amazed the comment section is interpreting this as a shift to third-party or mobile gaming entirely. That is not the case.

Skyward Sword, Mario Galaxy, and Metroid Prime Trilogy would be excellent. An Ocarina + Majora bundle (remasters of the 3DS version) is one of my pipe dreams.

I’d love to see a full fledged new F-Zero game honestly. Same with Star Fox, this time without gimmicks.

3D World is really all I care about and probably the only one I'll be getting out of the games on the list. Wind Waker and Twilight Princess would be fantastic additions to the library though.

And anyone who thinks the Wii U is really in any way superior to the Switch at this point is just trying to justify their purchase for the system. I loved the Wii U at the time but it's hard to deny that the Switch is miles better in every aspect (excepting the Virtual Console, obviously). Even the Wii U ports are better simply because of the portability aspect. The fact that I've been able to take a game like Tropical Freeze wherever I want in my house as opposed to being restricted to one room has allowed me to play more games that I wouldn't really want to otherwise.

Also, why does everyone think that Wii U ports take time away from newer games? The devs at Nintendo aren't saying "well, can't work on a new 2D Mario because we're too busy exhausting all our resources on NSMBU Deluxe!"

I’ll be shocked if Nintendo doesn’t hit their 20 million goal for hardware. Smash is doing very well and may carry them to that goal.

Next year will likely be even better with Animal Crossing and Pokémon.

Looking forward to being able to play this game on the go soon. I hope that 3D World and Galaxy 1 + 2 come over eventually as well.

Just don't pre-order unless you're absolutely sure you want the game. It's not like there are copies going anywhere on a digital shop. Oh well.

Expect that Animal Crossing will break records as well next year. Pokémon too if they make 2019. It'll be interesting to see how NSMB and Fire Emblem do.

The Switch is an amazing system and Nintendo has been consistently releasing great games these past two years. Looking forward to 2019, which looks like it'll be the Switch's best year yet.

I too laugh at throwing money away.

Sad that developers still don't take the Switch seriously when many western third parties have stated that they are doing very well on the system (when the game is actually good, of course). I remember a few months ago, Blizzard said Overwatch was "impossible." Now all of a sudden, it isn't.

@ramu-chan I wasn’t referring to Nintendo in my comment. I meant that if you have more than one platform, it’s not like there’s “nothing” to play right now.

Nintendo’s under the impression they’ll still be able to reach their goal of 20 million this year. We’ll see.

I think this year for the Switch has definitely been a bit more lackluster compared to last year, but if you have more than one platform, is that really that much of a problem?

@pika677 I meant that they're still releasing games for it. Granted, a good chunk of them are remasters, but it's something.

The successor should be a dock-less Switch. I want to see a Nintendo where its teams aren't divided between two consoles. I thought that we'd be there by now but the 3DS just keeps on going.

That's an odd decision. Why would they remove content? I don't see why the Odyssey content couldn't have stood alongside it, even if the 3D World levels were kind of shoddily done.

Oh boy. Why is it always gaming that gets targeted? People also watch TV and stare at their phones and browse Instagram all day. Maybe once the majority of adults will be those that grew up as video gaming became more a prevalent hobby, this kind of idiocy will go away.

Please, please no conference. A pre-edited Direct is much better because there's no opportunity for audience interaction cringe.

Outside of Smash, the E3 was very weak. That said, Mario Party and Smash obviously won’t be the only first party releases this year so I’m sure we’ll see more in time.

Thought it was clear that the only reason they showed it last year was so people would stop begging for it. I almost wish they'd do the same for Animal Crossing, lol.

I was disappointed by the lack of Animal Crossing, but I'm not going to be one of those people that hypes themselves up for it at every single event and then blames Nintendo, as certain fanbases have been doing for a while.

I'm still confident that AC will be released before the end of 2019. And what? People think that Smash is the only game releasing in September-December? More will be shown in time.

Best Smash game already. I'm expecting maybe 6 more newcomers, but the roster is just spectacular and the game looks fantastic!

Edit: After looking through this comment section, I am starting to believe Nintendo fans may be impossible to please. If this was shown in the second year of the Wii U, everyone would be going crazy. Were people actually expecting Metroid Prime 4?

Since this isn't the actual next Pokémon gen, this is totally fine with me. Hope it's a success with the casual crowd.

Best roster of any Mario spin-off to date, including any of the Mario Karts. I do hope we get some DLC characters though, like ones from Odyssey.

I'm still not thrilled that Nintendo seems to have abandoned Nabbit, but it's a great roster nonetheless! Can't wait for this game!

I was surprised to see a largely negative reaction about this to be honest.

The subscription service seems to me like an upgrade over having to pay for all of the old games for the 3rd or 4th time. Cloud saves are a bonus too.

Fans during Wii U era: “Why do I have to pay for all these old games all over again? Nintendo, get with the times!”

Nintendo releases subscription service with access to a constantly updated stream of classic games for less than $2 a month: “I would rather pay for all those old games all over again!”

Waluigi, Paper Mario, Midna & Wolf Link, Impa, Skull Link, K. Rool, Isabelle, Ridley, Captain Toad (or just Toad), and either Bandana Dee or Marx are my top 10 most wanted newcomers, but not in that order.

I also want Masked Link but the chances of that happening are virtually 0.

Parenting's the issue, not video games. Hope we take the time to look at the mental health side of things in the US. If you have the urge to kill someone after playing a game with a gun, the game isn't the issue.

Oh darn. I was really hoping we’d have the Call of Duty series’ latest yearly churned out rehash. I doubt that it would have much of an audience on Switch.

Definitely picking this one up! Personally I don’t think the Mario & Luigi series has ever had a bad game, though Paper Jam was mediocre.

And I’m very surprised that the 3DS is going to have games going into 2019. Just let it die, Nintendo.

Will likely be built off of Smash 4 if it is a new game, which I think it is at this point.

I don’t see why we would need to remove characters to “make room” for new ones so hopefully the entire roster of 4 is included.

Bowser's Inside Story and this game would be awesome on Switch but oh well. Great game nonetheless!

Looking forward to this, but they missed an opportunity by releasing it in May. Do they have any first party games in April?
