Aspyr has today announced that 2002's Star Wars: Bounty Hunter will be blasting onto Switch on 1st August in an all-new package.
You might remember this third-person action-adventure from back in the GameCube days. In it, you play as Jango Fett (before his little run-in with Mace Windu, obviously) on a mission to capture a mysterious Dark Jedi. Expect all the trappings of classic Mandalorian combat as you blast, scorch and fly your way through the campaign.
As you might expect, this isn't a straight-up port and Aspyr has made some adjustments to the original game. This version boasts visual enhancements, improved textures, new dynamic lighting effects and a flashlight tool to assist in dark areas. There's also a Boba Fett skin which can be unlocked by completing the main campaign.

Here's a rundown and some screenshots from Aspyr:
Let the Hunt Begin: In this classic third-person action-adventure, you'll play as Jango Fett, Prime Clone of the Grand Army of the Republic, hired to capture a deranged Dark Jedi.
Relive the Timeless Tale: Experience the legendary Bounty Hunter fantasy set before the events of Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones™. Face off against foes and maneuver through acrobatic battles in this adaption optimized for today's consoles and hardware.
Armed to the Teeth: Fight your way through the galaxy’s underbelly, equipped with Dual Blasters, your Flamethrower, Whipcord, and pure Mandalorian Rage.
Looking at the trailer and screenshots, it's clear that the visuals have been cleaned up a notch, but we can't say that it looks like an absolute game-changer just yet.
Coming off the back of last year's Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection, Aspyr has some serious work to do if it is to regain our trust in the Force. Only time will tell if it can pull it off...

Never played this back in the day, probably give it a go if it's cheap enough. Hopefully get a tomb raider rather than a battlefront port. Battlefront played fine for me from day one tho, guess I was lucky. Didn't get the hate.
Had this on GameCube and never finished it. It was a fun little gem, this one.
@Speedo What's not to get? Review outlets and players both pointed out various issues with Battlefront. Anyone would be frustrated paying for a defective product.
Any chance we can get the best Star Wars games? Rogue Squadron/Leader and Shadows of the Empire
I really enjoyed this on the GC, also not completing it. I've since bought the PS2-skinned version for the PS4, but I'd double-dip IF it wasn't borked upon release like the Battlefront Classics were
Always a pleasure
Okay, okay, okay. Now we just need ROGUE SQUADRON... But by Nightdive.... ; )
FINALLY the good one
"classic" is being generous.
@xiao7 : "Classic" is just PR speak for "old".
This one can be great fun, but from personal experience the brutal difficulty spikes and some cheap deaths make it quite a beast to see through to the end. My buddy and I made it by the skin of our teeth in a recent playthrough over on YouTube…

I'm really liking this trend of remastering/remaking the old SW games. As others have said, holding out hope that someone will pick up Shadows of the Empire, Rouge Squadron/Leader and especially a complete version of Dark Forces 2.
Classic =/= old. Classic is old /and/ appreciated.
This is one older Star Wars game I would pick up again, loved this back on the Gamecube. Hopefully they do a good job
Couldn't care less if it's a "classic" or not, love to see another Star Wars game coming to Switch and as long as also this version is overall good I'll consider eventually playing it myself!
I want Starfighter. That was a fun launch-window tech-demo game for the PS2. Oh, and the Rogue trilogy and Shadows of the Empire. Yes, I know Shadows of the Empire was a pain to play even back in the day and the years won't have done it any favours, but I liked the story, and the flying levels were great.
@SillyG "Retro" should be PR speak for "old". Classic means something great. Star Wars Bounty Hunter, as quirky as it is, is not great.
like i trust aspyr doing it right after their past fiascos.
Honestly, this one really shows it’s age. I played it not that long ago on my PS5 and didn’t care for it. Maybe the updates and enhancements make it less of a clunky experience but I kind of doubt it.
Not played this one. I thought it looked a bit bland. Any good?
As usual Aspyr managed to bloat the game to 9.4 GBs with their lazy AI upscaling.
I know that this game isn't perfect and can be frustrating but I love it so much.
@Steel76 Actually from the screenshots the textures DO look like they were redone in HD.
This is awesome!!
This game wreaks of GameCube/PS2 but I’ve played the “port” on PS4/5 over the years and it’s still fun. Definitely clunky and maybe a tad obtuse but it’s so fun once you get your grips with the quirks. I’ll be buying this knowing there are some improvements, even if they’re slight, and deleting that port off the competitor’s console
@Speedo Yeah, I never had many issues either. And I still own and play the original games on PS2 too, so it's not like I hadn't played them in two decades and had forgotten what they "should" play like.
Looks more interesting to me than Jedi Survivor or Outlaws.
This is a great game. Very happy to see it come to modern systems.
@DripDropCop146 I had no troubles but I played offline and some split screen. My biggest issue was it only had 2 player split screen. Good times were had on Xbox playing 4 player split screen; shame they didn't do that
@JohnnyC I bet with modernized controls it wouldn't be half bad. I liked it back in the day too
I seem to remember it getting middling reviews tho and never really knew why. I didn't get very far in it back then
Star Wars has always had a huge fan base, with all sorts of games available, both new or retro coming out, so I can't understand why they just won't re-release the SNES classic trilogy. I guess I'm not the only one who'd like to play it in a modern console
@Smackosynthesis The Hoth battle was breathtaking in those early trailers for the N64. That and the footage of Mario spinning Bowser around.
To this day, the leap from 2D to 3D has been the biggest "wow" moment I can recall computer game history.
The Xbox game I'm waiting to get remastered is Enter The Matrix. Man was I obsessed with that game, trying to master the combat and bullet time mechanics. Diving backwards in slow motion with bullets flying all around you felt like a mind blowing innovation back then, like commandeering a martial arts movie.
@JohnnyC yeah probably similar for me too. Seeing Mario running around in 3d was AH MAZE ING back then. Kids nowadays will never truly understand how incredible that was to experience
How is aspyr still allowed to handle porting of old SW games after their crap?
Aspyr? -HARDEST OF ALL PASS
Hmm on the one hand I want to buy it on Xbox day one because I missed out on this. On the other after Aspyr messed up the Battlefront Classic Collection I may have to wait on it.
Either Aspyr is rushing this out before they lose their Star Wars rights or all the complaining from the internet did jack for the Battlefront Collection and sold greatly.
Back in the day, I loved it. Even though I sucked at it. Might give this one a second chance. "Bounty Hunters" - always interested in everything around the matter.
I was completely down until I saw the word 'Aspyr'.
Bounty Hunter
Battlefront 1 & 2 collection
The Clone Wars
Obi-Wan
Rogue Squadron
Rogue Leader
Rebel Strike
StarFighter
Shadows of the Empire
All need to come to Switch and as Physical copies!
All these games, from back when Star Wars was good!
This used to be a top five favorite game for me. It's no longer there, but I do love it, the story and cutscenes are still top five for me, but I can't pretend the game play holds up to something like God of war II, or Shadow of the Colossus.
The game's fun enough while it's sticking to the actual 'bounty hunter' part of the premise, but the later levels are murderously tedious action-platformy slogs. That said, the story's decent and fills in a lot of backstory for Clone Wars-era Star Wars so it might be worth it for fans.
Bring back Rogue Squadron, please!
@Spider-Kev Yes Please!
Did they manage to fix their disastrous Battlefront collection?
No one asking for Super Bombad Racing? Or Gungan Frontier?
@xiao7
"retro" is a word for something that is made in the style of something old. so, not "old" by definition.
(lol i will die on this hill 😅)
i think the correct word for something that is old is "old." ✌️
btw these are not mutually exclusive terms. e g megaman 9 is both retro and old (but when it came out it was retro and new 😊)
EDIT - because no one seems to believe me:
Dictionary Definitions from Oxford Languages
adjective
imitative of a style, fashion, or design from the recent past.
noun
clothes or music whose style or design is imitative of those of the recent past.
Now with even more bugs!
This was the game I really wanted to play when I still only had SNES and PS1, I was disappointed to find out the PS1 did not play PS2 games after renting it lmao.
Not the worst gamble, some GBC games will play on GB I guess.
A year later I got a GC and completely forgot this game existed, the lego games covered the star wars itch. Would still like to play it tho!
