Re: Countdown: 3DS eShop Spotlight - Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Dual Destinies

Bomberman64

I loved the first three games on the DS, even liked Miles Edgeworth and the other attorney game.

However, Dual Destinies went a very different way and adopted a humor style more in the veins of childrens animes, and it made me lose interest in the whole series.

I barely ever leave a game without finishing it but I stopped playing this one because it just wasn't fun.

I played the 3DS game a fair bit and my problem was the lack of change in the gameplay after you'd learnt the basic rules. It was fun for the first 3 hours but knowing that I'd gotten half way through and the rest would be exactly the same made me quit it. The music was enjoyable but also didn't have enough variety after a while.

Re: Talking Point: Why Are So Many Remasters Sub-Par At Launch?

Bomberman64

A remaster shouldn't just be a re-release, it needs enough for it to be called a remastering.

For games I believe some improvements to both the audiovisual presentation and the gameplay are musts.

If company just wants to make the lowest effort then re-release the games as a collection. That is the modern alternative and no one will complain about it because expectations will match (if the collection is done properly ofc).

@CederBagel Yeah a lot of the replies I got mentioned themes. It shouldn't be hard to implement, but I honestly don't see them doing it now that so much time has passed.

I figure if they had wanted to do it they would've done so early on so that they could've charged people for new themes or have them as rewards for things. Well, I could always be wrong. Let's hope I am.

I wouldn't be surprised if people have set up "stability"-joke bots for whenever this happens.

Also, the new things brought with this update are pretty underwhelming, but what features are left that are highly requested and that have any chances of being implemented still? Local save backup is probably never gonna happen, menu music neither.

So yeah, what are people's biggest wishes for updates for the Switch OS?

This must be why Yuzo Koshiro has been posting so many EO remastered tracks on his youtube channel and twitter lately.

@Dom_31 the original first DS game had automapping of where you walked, so I'm not sure if they meant something in addition to this.

I've played EO 1 on the DS and 4 on the 3DS and I find 1 to be a superior game. Replayed 1 recently on the DS and it holds up really well.

I'm definitely picking these up, but not at full price, cause I've already bought them once.

@HeadPirate I agree with your points, but let me just point out that not all players can beat the game in those 10 hours, like some players with disabilities or someone who is less skilled at gaming. Maybe the reviewer could state that they beat the game in 10h instead?

This is one of my gripes with sites like howlongtobeat - sure some people can beat Contra in 1 hour like is stated there, but most people would take much longer to beat it.

Re: Video: Here's A Look At Pokémon Scarlet & Violet's Performance (Version 1.1.0)

@antisumo Yes I had those big-budget movies that bomb in mind too, and to me they correspond to expensive games that bomb like Cyberpunk, Evolve, No Man's Sky. You could say this would have been bad for No Man's Sky which was able to redeem itself, but maybe it also would've made them reconsider releasing the game when they did?

Post-release updates could maybe help those smaller game Studios fix things they didn't notice because their budget for playtesting and QA is much smaller and therefore they'd rely more on user-feedback, but for big studios/companies like Game Freak/TPCi there's no excuse for some of the things that were in the game at release.

Re: Monster Hunter Rise Is No Longer A Nintendo Switch Console Exclusive

It's 2022 so Cross-play isn't rocket science to implement. I read Capcom's statement earlier to why it wasn't possible and you could interpret their typical vague business answer as them not being allowed by Nintendo, and now probably not Sony/Microsoft.

It's a shame and it's THE reason I didn't pick this game up for 20 € during black week. I've got a PC and a Switch and would love to play coop with both. A second Switch is just out of the question for financial reasons.
