Re: Switch Hardware Sales Reach 68.3 Million, Now Nintendo's Second Best-Selling Home Console Ever

Bomberman64

I'll repeat this again. With the Switch being the fusion of Nintendo's previous handheld and console efforts, it makes a lot of sense to compare its numbers to the total handheld+console sales of a generation, if not they have technically gone down in salesnumbers of 'systems'.

However, it shouldn't take long for the Switch to outperform the combined Wii U and 3DS sales at a little under 90 million systems sold.

Check out Tomita's modest youtube channel if you want to discover more of the great music he has composed since the 80s and until now: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCb3jiie6b517pzh1oP2eg7A
He's often even there responding in English which is great.

Personally I just finished this game this summer in coop and thoroughly enjoyed it from the music to the gameplay. The challenge lies in getting enough beads. I've also been exploring more of Tomoyo Tomita's music which has quite the legacy coming from Konami games (Castlevania and Goemon) back when Konami was a proper game company.

I also agree that I might have enjoyed it more because of it being less like a normal Kirby game. The only thing I did not care too much about were the motion control levels.

The only bad thing about the 3DS game is that they cut out coop.

Re: Switch Production "Has Almost Recovered" From Coronavirus Difficulties, Says Nintendo

Bomberman64

Thing is, Nintendo lost a lot of potential sales it could have gotten in the early pandemic times. Right now I feel people will be more inclined to wait and buy the upcoming next gen consoles from Microsoft and Sony. The Switch will obviously still sell but I do feel they missed out on a lot of sales when AC:NH had just come out and people and families were stuck at home. Just my thoughts and opinion ofc. And there's not much to learn from this other than make sure to have a good extra stock of your console, whether that is due to lack of investment in manufacturerers or whatever.

Re: Classic Nintendo Source Code And Prototypes Allegedly Leaked

Bomberman64

I'm more surprised by the fact that Nintendo were able to keep the source code for these games. Most companies have lost the source code for games from the 90s and before. I mean at this point they could have made ports of their classic games rather than emulate them. I'd imagine the source code of TLOZ 3 was used for the gba port then.

Re: Another Crusade Wants To Be Super Mario RPG's Spiritual Successor

Bomberman64

Sure it has the combat system but the rest (atmosphere, visual style and narration) reminds me more of Diablo or Baldur's Gate. SMRPG has more charm and wit in its dialogue, music and characters.

Also I can't say after beating SMRPG that it's one of the best Nintendo games. It's good but with some flaws like horrible platforming.

Re: Pokémon Rumble Rush Shuts Down, Just One Year Since Launch

Bomberman64

@PcTV Yeah the money investment people would have made in this game is what strikes me as the worst thing about it.

Hopefully with games like these shutting down earlier every time people will just get tired of it and never invest into those "keep playing for xx.xx $/€!". The publishers are really just gonna make players take these services less and less serious with these decisions, which is good for consumers.

Re: Review: Paper Mario: The Origami King - A Puzzling Battle System Can't Kill This Funny Adventure

Bomberman64

@arrmixer yep they've been there since day 1 with Paper Mario and it truely does show with the great story and dialog. I just wish they got some help from Nintendo on how to make an engaging rpg game right. I get that the game looks good but to quote "If [the game] is not fun, why bother?"

It's quite sad to think that now that Alpha Dream, the developers of Mario and Luigi RPGs series, are long gone, we'll probably not see a proper Mario RPG in quite a while. I guess the only realistic hope at this point is a sequel to Mario + Rabbids, which isn't quite the RPG I'm after but it's at least something.

Re: Nintendo Targets Switch Modchip Installation Service In Latest Legal Crackdown

Bomberman64

@TG16_IS_BAE According to what I've read from hackers of it, Nintendo actually did their job well with regards to their software, it was Nvidia who had a flaw in their hardware that caused it to be hacked so quickly.

It's a shame really, especially when you see how small the piracy communities on xbox and ps are, partly because their securities are harder to circumvent and because they have stuff more available and no premium prices on games. Went to a store yesterday and found BotW (2017) for 70$ while Ratchet & Clank (2016) was 25$.

Re: Legal Crackdown On Mario 64 PC Port Not Enough To Stop Modders From Improving It

Bomberman64

If anything this puts more pressure on Nintendo to release a better Mario 64 on switch compared to the travesty of darkened Mario on Wii U. Imagine they actually remade the game in Odyssey's engine with better visuals and audio, it'll 99% of the time be more popular and more appreciated than the pc port.

Also to those that keep saying SM64 isn't available to buy and Nintendo isn't earning money from it, you should check the Wii U eshop (while it is still open...).

In the end it took these people years to reverse engineer SM64 so I wouldn't see this as a "big threat" for the industry. Mostly games that sold well in their time and are considered classics get decompiled in this way, SM64 isn't the first and probably won't be the last.

Re: Legendary Composer David Wise Explains Why He Wouldn't Have Swapped The N64 For A CD-Based Console

Bomberman64

Very interesting. Still, having the option to have the benefits of cd audio would not have been a bad thing. I figure it might have helped out with voice samples and FMVs. Even if RE2 showed that FMVs were possible. In the end I can't say I ever felt the N64 audio was ever lacking in the games I played.

As a matter of fact, the N64 has some of the most memorable tunes I know of.

Re: Nintendo of America Files Two New Lawsuits Against Switch Hack Resellers

Bomberman64

@Heavyarms55 I agree 100%. Make your games available with no stupid flaws and profits should go up and some of the interest in/need for homebrew down.

Also the Switch should have been harder to break had it not been for the flaws in Nvidias hardware, which is a shame because Nintendo had fixed a lot of loopholes from the Wii U and 3DS in the Switch's system.

Also the Xbox and PS see a lot less hacking and homebrewing for some reason. Albeit Sony seems to spend more time and money on pushing updates to their system than hunting pirates and websites. Also it might be because they have good online services and a lot more and better sales for their games.
