@Don They're going to make so much money from this release alone that I think Gen 1+2 will happen down the line.
Gen 4 onwards probably won't happen till a DS Classics line is launched first, especially if the rumours/speculation of an additional screen attachment come to light.
If they do this say, as a new Pokemon Day tradition (Ruby/Sapphire do turn 25 next year after all), that's 3 years of releases till they get round to the DS titles (I would assume the 3rd versions would come a few months after the duo versions of their respective gen.).
Either way, too much money to leave on the table when they've now opened the floodgates.
Seems a bit early to start counting on repeats for the GC when we've yet to see Sunshine, the Pokemon games, the Mario Party series (With or without the mic for 6+7), the Mario Sports games, Mario Kart, the Starfox duo, to name a few, and that's before they dive into the 3rd party well.
Even then, you pick the second entries in the series before the 1st ones. Pikmin 2 on Switch had licensing removed and the ending song, so you're really going to that much effort to do the same for the OG GC version? For the 25th anniversary of the IP, maybe, just seemed odd to waste time with that not even a year since the GC was added to the service.
Prime 2 is a maybe but again, if Pikmin 2 is coming, why not Prime 1 first?
@Whirlwound I dunno if we'll get Prime Remasters just yet, likely somewhere in the middle between 4 and 5 if 4 really is the start of a new trilogy.
Not the only big-ish anniversary from Nintendo either. Pokemon will hit 30 in 2 months and if there was ever a time we might see the GB games on Nintendo Classics....
Worse thing is, it'll be a lost version of the game come the shutdown, since they usually delist games as well.
Who knows what the situation will be with the code in the box release. Will the unused codes still be valid on the second hand market, or just be made unuseable soon as the servers go bye bye?
@AussieMcBucket Gamecube is young, they can have monthly games for the time being, especially as its the only Switch 2 exclusive system. Bigger library overall as well.
@Solarstriker Huh. You would think they'd go higher than 2TB to future proof it down the road, be sizeable for many beefier Switch 2 games, the games people are migrating over from their Switch 1 and the fact the Switch 1 could also go up to 2TB.
But hey, maybe that brings hope for a External HDD/SSD update down the road...
@NinChocolate They have patched games in the past for bugs, so I'm sure they will for Switch 2 when they find the time spare from releasing weekly games.
@sovereign2186 We had solutions for the Sunshine port in 3D Allstars, and don't forget the Gamecube adapter for Smash. Even if the current one won't work, I'm sure Sakurai will go to the trouble of having another one made for Switch 2 since the difference between wired and wireless controllers in fighting games in a big one.
@8bit-Man I suspect there'll be a lot they can't really remake like Eternal Darkness or Twin Snakes since the developer is no more. Hell, I believe the source code for Melee is lost so the ROM might be the only option.
SEGA might not want to put resources into remastering the likes of Skies of Arcadia Legends, Billy Hatcher or more, same with a lot of developers too. Just license out the ROM to Nintendo for a good sum, job done.
@nebzila Considering I had to import the US version of the Marvel Vs Capcom Collection via Amazon.com to avoid the "code in a box" nonsense in the UK, I'm gonna say you're probably going to have to import this as well.
Could be the last update we get till the Switch 2 Direct and possible news on any additional systems we might see on Switch 2.....unless we get another update at the end of the month.

Re: Review: Pokémon FireRed & LeafGreen (Switch) - Red-Hot Nostalgia In A So-So Wrapper
@Don Well, Gen 5 won't happen for a loooooooong time since they are next in line for the remake treatment.

"What about the Nintendo Music app?"

Re: Surprise! Rayman: 30th Anniversary Edition Arrives On Switch This Week
On the one hand, support new Rayman games if sales are good.
On the other hand, giving money to Ubisoft.
Maybe wait till it's $5 to balance it out.
Re: Hamster's 'Console Archives' Starting Lineup Revealed, Includes More Than 10 Titles
Obviously a focus on Japanese and obscure titles we have to remember. Still, maybe some Western Developers might jump on board down the line.
You know what would be an absolutely wild choice that would make them a lot of bucks since Konami is part of this?
Snatcher on SEGA/Mega CD.

Re: Sega Confirms Another Retro Arcade Game For Yakuza Kiwami 3
Honestly, just do a "Yakuza Arcade Selections" Collection featuring these games that have been on previous Yakuza/Like a Dragon games.
Not the most recent entries obviously but start with the first entry or two to have arcade games then work your way up to volume 2, 3, and so on.
So many would double dip or buy if Yakuza is not their type of game.

Re: Pikmin 3 Deluxe Nintendo Switch 2 Rating Pops Up Online
25th anniversary next year.
If we don't get a Pikmin 5, we're sure as heck getting Switch 2 Editions of 1+2, 3 DX and 4.
Re: Nintendo Is Preparing For Even More Movies In The Future, Unsurprisingly
The Urban Champion Movie and The Clu Clu Land Movie obviously.

Re: Poll: So, Will You Be Getting Hyrule Warriors: Age Of Imprisonment?
Getting tired of the BOTW setting TBH.
Re: Rumour: Nintendo Patent Supposedly Points To Return Of DS Games
If they can go as far as a $100 add on to play Virtual Boy on Switch, then I fully believe they'll go this far with DS and down the road, 3DS.
Even if they have to sell us a screen attachment or just a mock DS that streams the DS games from the Switch 2, lol.
Re: Poll: So, Will You Be Getting Pokémon Legends: Z-A?
I suspect some gamers will already be like "Getting it? I already beat it!"

Well, there goes my prediction for Resident Evil 2 64 for Halloween.
Maybe next year...
Re: Look, Maybe We Should Stop Asking For A Sonic Adventure Remaster
There's a reason why every Sonic cartoon made it to DVD and most of them on Blu Ray.
The Sonic fandom ain't ever going to stop asking till it happens.
Re: Video: Switch 2's GameCube Emulation Apparently Has Underlying Issues Nintendo "Desperately Needs To Fix"
I mean the N64 app had issues when it launched, they patched it up a fair bit since then, even if sometimes new releases have their own problems.
They'll patch this at some point.

You can bet they're going to do this with these 3D Arcade titles.

For the love of Vyse SEGA, just put Skies of Arcadia Legends on it.
We know you're never going to remake or remaster it, so just put it on any Gamecube app Nintendo decides to do.
