@Bloodbottler Agreed. It’s wild that shadows of the empire and rogue squadron have had no remaster discussion. Shadows in particular could really use some modern adjustments.
Does it have save states so you don’t have to replay long stretches? I don’t think my brother and I ever beat a level that had mushrooms that you’d jump on (my vague recollection at least).
@MrCarlos46 there had been several debates and discussions focusing on the size of a chip following one of the motherboard leaks. Actually it was the empty space where the chip would be. The debate is if it would be 8nm or 5nm, with people adamant that the 8nm would stunt the system and make Nintendo lower clock speeds during handheld play so the battery wouldn’t drain. And other people said because it’s custom architecture that it could be the larger (but less efficient) chip and still run just fine.
It’s me being tongue in cheek because the debate and discussion about it was the talk of the town for a few days during the last leak. To the point it was almost apocalyptic and people said the system would be worthless, out dated junk without a 5nm. It got pretty wild.
I didn’t even know bloody Baron was a side quest it was so involved. And I don’t know if it counts or not but breath of the wild island where you lose all your gear was really surprising and fun.
I have over 800 switch games. This having backwards compatibility has guaranteed I’ll be buying it because I can move forward while still working on my backlog. Plus if it plays them enhanced in anyway, it’s a nice bonus. Very very smart move by Nintendo. Especially with the digital age where it can help encourage digital purchases knowing they aren’t “dead” after a console is finished.
It’s wild to me they re released these two games rather than just making a third. I mean I appreciate having them and all. I guess the premium cost of it for such an easy release makes sense from a quick cash aspect. Disappointing to me though.
What started the “hello there lovely people, It’s Alex from Nintendo life here?” Just that it’s good practice to have an opening catchphrase or was there more to it?
Awesome if true. I hope that they mention how backwards compatibility will work if they’re not going to cover software much/at all. Like free enhancements or maybe certain games get upgrades you pay for or whatever it’ll be.
@tweaknmod I think no matter what the leaks show and reveal, we will all be eagerly anticipating the official Nintendo unveiling. It’s fun to guess different things they may implement. Personally I’m hoping we see the return of the IR bar for flawless Wii emulation in a Nintendo online upgrade to include GameCube and Wii games. 🤞
@AstroTheGamosian I won’t bet money on this prediction of mine, but I believe the switch 2 will come out very quickly after the reveal. Like revealed in January and then between March and July it’s released. The one rumor I truly believe out of all the others is that they’ve spent the last two years manufacturing them so that they can release millions right away without any stock shortages.
I could absolutely be wrong and maybe they’ll wait til Nov for the holiday rush, but I just have a feeling they want to do a quick reveal and release. Like how Apple does.
@progx I don’t think you’re familiar with the term competition. Any product that can take a customers money is competition. These handhelds are competition.
Hopefully they have some master plan figured out to blow us all away. At least the software end of it can still do that since that’s been almost totally silent.
@Keman While the form is mainly the same (just a bit bigger) I think the precedent set by the cell phone industry help will Nintendo out. A switch 2 is something I think even the most casual of consumer would be able to understand because they’ve already seen it with their iPhones and Galaxys over the last decade.
Nintendo revealing the switch this month and surprise releasing it in March may help get a jump on things, especially if the rumor of millions being manufactured already is true. At this point a surprise quick release and a substantial first party title or two with it will get a nice momentum train to distract from competition.
On one hand I feel bad Nintendo is kinda getting the run around with doing a big reveal themselves (unless no leaks are accurate), on the other hand, free advertising for them for months now.
I’d like to see the future of rockband/guitar hero be a self contained game tied to the instrument rather than console releases that fade away after a generation. I can’t wait for my 4 year old to someday play on the 360 with me… supposing it still works when she’s old enough. 🤦♂️🤦♂️
From what I read (and only slightly understand), the issue with the 8nm is that it uses more power so it’ll have Nintendo stunting handheld performance like they currently do (why many people hack the switch to overclock it and get better performance). But that supposedly it won’t matter for docked performance.
On the positive side of that, some knowledgeable tech folk believe that since it’s not in an automobile, Nintendo may be able to reconfigure the chip to use less power anyway without messing with performance 🤞
Regardless , all guess work til we get the official reveal. And as long as games run great on it, I don’t care what specs it’s showing since I’ve seen miracles on switch 1.
The conversations about the 5nm vs the 8nm are very fascinating and educational, regardless of whatever the final system has. The same with the 12 vs 16 gigs of ram. The positive thinkers seem to maintain that since it’s custom hardware for a specific gaming device use (rather than a mobile device for example), the “flaws” won’t be as damning as the higher end options Nintendo possibly didn’t go with. As long as the games it has are fun and run well (and look decent enough) I’ll be happy. 👍. Plus if it makes native switch games run better/optimized, I’m all for it. I have over 800 games in my backlog. I’m also really curious about how the dock will adjust the games since that’s really not being brought up (though we don’t have any major dock leaks so to be expected I guess).
Either way, it’s helping pass the time while we wait 😂🤣🤷♂️🤷♂️
That’s disappointing to hear. I’d absolutely buy (depending on game list) a Dreamcast mini. Or even a Dreamcast collection as a console release. What I won’t buy is a sega streaming service though. 😜
I’m more interested in a release date for the system than the announcement of the release date at this point. What is the earliest the system could be released? If there are millions stock piling as we speak, maybe it is announced in January and released in March?
Ugh. So thus ends the compilation sets I guess. And the sega tier of the Nintendo online catalog.
Sega shouldn’t bother imho. They’re overestimating their fanbase and wanting to spend money. Unless they fill it with Saturn and Dreamcast titles. Arcades as well. But even then I wouldn’t spend more than 5$ a month at most. And that’s pushing it. I have well over a thousand games in my backlog.
I’m just waiting to see some final spec confirmations from Nintendo themselves since physically the system is about what many figured it would be. Though it looks like in these mockups that the analog sticks are slightly closer to the buttons this time around. That kind of disappoints me since I didn’t like how close they already were.
Either way, fingers crossed for an actual reveal sometime soon.
I think we will see some awesome first party and some great, “miracle ports” if the hardware rumors are true. Very similar to switch 1 I’m sure.
But my concern comes with the speed at which technology and gaming in general continue to advance now. Nintendo typically likes to run with their systems for a decent amount of time and I have concern about how long it can maintain at its slower pace.
However, if the rumors of delaying switch 2 are that it’s for stockpiling a massive release wave so that it is easy to find, I’m okay with the wait. Most of us would be waiting just as long to find one in the wild if it released now or first quarter 2025 anyway.
I don’t mind leaning into 3rd party for the end of the life cycle, but how about some legacy re releases and remasters sprinkled in too? Mario Galaxy 2 for example? Metroid prime 2 & 3?
What a wild, suspenseful ride this has been. I wonder how long til a reveal finally happens. I’ll almost be sad to see the speculation and “reveal” articles go 😂🤣. Almost.

@MrCarlos46 Exactly. We just have to wait and see. People jump the gun and get gloom and doom too quickly.

Re: Zelda Fan Film Kicks Off Fundraising Campaign With First Live-Action Trailer
So could they just rob everyone of the funds and then pretend Nintendo stopped the project?
I know there’s Friday the 13th fan films but I feel like they aren’t allowed to make money on them to exist.
Re: Multiple Resident Evil Titles Might Be Getting A Next-Generation Refresh
Get those Wii light gun games updated and add an IR attachment to the switch 2 top usb slot. 👍

Apparently the 8nm vs 5nm will determine if the system is any good or not (according to Reddit). 😂🤣😂🤣
