Re: Digital Foundry Weighs In On 'Switch 2' Motherboard - Just How Powerful Is It?

From what I read (and only slightly understand), the issue with the 8nm is that it uses more power so it’ll have Nintendo stunting handheld performance like they currently do (why many people hack the switch to overclock it and get better performance). But that supposedly it won’t matter for docked performance.

On the positive side of that, some knowledgeable tech folk believe that since it’s not in an automobile, Nintendo may be able to reconfigure the chip to use less power anyway without messing with performance 🤞

Regardless , all guess work til we get the official reveal. And as long as games run great on it, I don’t care what specs it’s showing since I’ve seen miracles on switch 1.

The conversations about the 5nm vs the 8nm are very fascinating and educational, regardless of whatever the final system has. The same with the 12 vs 16 gigs of ram. The positive thinkers seem to maintain that since it’s custom hardware for a specific gaming device use (rather than a mobile device for example), the “flaws” won’t be as damning as the higher end options Nintendo possibly didn’t go with. As long as the games it has are fun and run well (and look decent enough) I’ll be happy. 👍. Plus if it makes native switch games run better/optimized, I’m all for it. I have over 800 games in my backlog. I’m also really curious about how the dock will adjust the games since that’s really not being brought up (though we don’t have any major dock leaks so to be expected I guess).

Either way, it’s helping pass the time while we wait 😂🤣🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

Re: PSA: Switch 2 Is Getting Revealed In The Next 100 Days

I’m more interested in a release date for the system than the announcement of the release date at this point. What is the earliest the system could be released? If there are millions stock piling as we speak, maybe it is announced in January and released in March?

Ugh. So thus ends the compilation sets I guess. And the sega tier of the Nintendo online catalog.

Sega shouldn’t bother imho. They’re overestimating their fanbase and wanting to spend money. Unless they fill it with Saturn and Dreamcast titles. Arcades as well. But even then I wouldn’t spend more than 5$ a month at most. And that’s pushing it. I have well over a thousand games in my backlog.

Re: PSA: If You're Into Switch 2 'Leaks', It's The Wild West Out There Right Now

I’m just waiting to see some final spec confirmations from Nintendo themselves since physically the system is about what many figured it would be. Though it looks like in these mockups that the analog sticks are slightly closer to the buttons this time around. That kind of disappoints me since I didn’t like how close they already were.

Either way, fingers crossed for an actual reveal sometime soon.

Re: Reaction: The Game Awards Left Us With One Big Question: Will Any Of This Run On Switch 2?

AG_Awesome

I think we will see some awesome first party and some great, “miracle ports” if the hardware rumors are true. Very similar to switch 1 I’m sure.

But my concern comes with the speed at which technology and gaming in general continue to advance now. Nintendo typically likes to run with their systems for a decent amount of time and I have concern about how long it can maintain at its slower pace.

However, if the rumors of delaying switch 2 are that it’s for stockpiling a massive release wave so that it is easy to find, I’m okay with the wait. Most of us would be waiting just as long to find one in the wild if it released now or first quarter 2025 anyway.
