Re: Opinion: Silksong's Soundtrack Rules, But You Should Turn It Off

@JumpingJackson Yes it is a thing on the PC1. Though at least from my experience it's a little too subtle, as if the vibrations are coming from deep within the controller and barely making it to my hands. It's different compared to say a dualshock 5 where you can feel the unique vibrations more intensely.
This could just be the games I've been played with it & I do my best to try most games with it since my Lite doesn't have rumble.

Re: 007 First Light Adds Another Big Name To Its Cast List

Clearly I have to rewatch Waters of Mars, as I don't remember her in it.
Sounds like her job is to give you challenges & missions to complete outside the story in a Danger Room environment & maybe provide ways to replay missions via simulation? It does create a easy avenue to do DLC based on the movies though, by adding sandboxes based on them (the circus from Octopussy could work wonders in a Hitman format).

Urban settings can work & look great, this one just looks so boring and samey, every video just seems to have the same 3 or 4 buildings copy-pasted as far as the eye can see. You have to treat a city map as if you were designing any other type of open world, it should have distinct areas with different themes. I get they wouldn't want to show wealth disparities, but an industrial zone, a shopping zone, a business zone, and a historic zone are examples of things they could do, all with unique aesthetics and color palettes to distinguish them while looking like it's all the same city.

Re: Marvel's New Beat 'Em Up 'Cosmic Invasion' Reveals Two More Playable Characters

Love the character choices so far, it's a really balanced roster. It features must-haves (Spidey, Logan, Venom and Cap), takes interesting choices to represent teams (Storm and Rocket), has some mid-tier heroes (Nova and Norrin) and specially in picking lesser know alts to cover more popular heroes,
Thor? Beta Ray Bill
Hulk? She-Hulk
Captain Marvel? Phyla-Vell

Re: Rumour: Guilty Gear's New Game Has Been Cancelled, It's Claimed

Hopefully they can find a good direction for it or maybe rest it to go do something else for a bit like they did during the Blazblue years. I've been enjoying the series casually since Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus (R?) on PSP and I like the direction it's been going in, but they have been doing a lot of GG lately. 4 games in a decade is a lot. I'd actually really enjoy another BB, even though the story ended I'd like to see what they could do with a new story that picks up on the ending.

Whatever their next project is, I hope they get alt-costumes as a standard feature going forward.

Re: Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag Actor Drops The Biggest Remake Hint Yet

If any AC game needs a remake it's AC1, which isn't even playable on modern consoles, but we're getting one for a game that still holds up, is very playable & it's everywhere to buy. I guess every AC game before Unity could use the "climb down" button to help the parkour flow better, so at least there's that going for it.

Re: Beat 'Em Up Classic Double Dragon Gets A Modern Revival On Switch This October

8thDoctor

It looks really solid gameplay wise, but I wish they'd done more with the graphics. It looks like a PS3-era revival when we're in the middle of a beat em up renascence with lots of gorgeous & colorful pixel-art or hand-drawn looks.

Shame Yuke's got to make this, they have talent making fun games, but I can't remember the last one they made one that was pleasing to look at.

Re: Review: The Legend Of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition - A Sublime Sequel, Now Sublimer

8thDoctor

I'd say BotW is the stronger overall experience, while TotK is the better game to play. The narrative and world are in better sync with what they do and how they do it, while TotK fully copying BotW's narrative choices actually detract from the world.
A great example is the Dragon's Tears, it would be pretty emotional story if told linearly, but the game just reuses the old Link's memories format that denies it momentum & it detracts from the ghost Zelda thing that's driving most of the main story, rather than providing insight and context to it like Link's Memories did in BotW.

Re: Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection Comes To Switch And Switch 2 In 2025

8thDoctor

Only the GBA versions of Deadly Alliance is weird, I have to assume the PS2/GCN/Xbox version will also be announced in the future. Same with MK Gold and the console versions of MK4.

Not surprised Mythologies SZ, Special Forces and Shaolin Monks aren't here, but not sure what other place they'd include them in. A broader Midway Adventure games kollection perhaps? I know an MK Spin-Offs Kollection won't sell much, there aren't many of them and SM is the only worthwhile game.

Re: Video: Check Out New Direct-Feed Gameplay Of Cyberpunk 2077 On Switch 2

It looks about the same as the PS4 version does, which honestly isn't dramatically far from where the PS5 performance mode is (higher crowd density, step-up textures, plus higher base resolution is basically it), which is pretty amazing results. It seems to be looking better than both PS5 modes when driving, as there doesn't seem to have the very visible ghosting at the back of the bike/car that PS5 has.

Re: Mortal Kombat 1 Looks To Be Winding Down Support With The 'Definitive Edition'

8thDoctor

I think they need a proper full reboot at this point, they wasted their opportunity by making this a MK11 sequel built on Multiverse shenanigans, with many questionable and controversial decisions that don't feel like permanent changes for the franchise (ej. Kuai Liang being Scorpion & random human Shinnok). Reminds me of the issues MK9-10 caused with killing the vast majority of the main cast between them, leaving them stuck to make a reset with MK11 (itself needing to focus on time shenanigans to have classic characters return).
