I watched a lot of Rugrats when I was little (even had the orange VHS for the movie), yet I only remember playing a PS2 game of it and having fun with it. Shame it's not included here, or the other GBA games.
Any Metroid film would likely have to look at Other M and Prime 4 for inspiration on how to do a more involved story and having companion characters so Samus has someone to talk to. I hope they take the liberty of doing a new Samus adventure and not try to directly adapt Metroid 1or another game into a movie.
I would love it if Nintendo would get A24 or Neon to make an arthouse-ish adaptation that tries to capture the spirit of franchise and doesn't have to conform to the needs of a blockbuster. Metroid, like Zelda, can really work as a quiet meditative film about the hero journeying from point A to point B, while fighting a handful of monsters along the way.
This is being made by the Skull and Bones team who are probably stretched a bit thin working on both. It will be on NS2, I just think they're on a delay because they wanted to catch-up Nintendo on the major releases of the time by porting Shadows and Star Wars first. I would guess by the time the next major Ubisoft game launches (likely AC Hex next year) it will be on the same date for everyone.
If it can run on a Steam Deck, it can run on a Switch 2.
Some critics were a bit too harsh (the 0 review was a bit much), but I understand being harsher towards a sequel that doesn't really fix the problems everyone agreed the first one had. You also can't really give it top marks in a world where Pixar, Ghibli and Dreamworks, etc are making stronger kids movies.
I applaud Falcom's dedication to keep renaming Ys IV every chance they get, even if it seems particularly needless here. lol
I played this on Vita ages ago and enjoyed my time with it, it's a great fit for portable play. I don't think I'll triple dip just for a new OST (also have it on GOG), but at least it's available on Switch AND for the same $30 as everywhere else.
This game really needs a sequel. It's cute that we're still getting some treats after all these year, but a proper sequel that starts a new full support cycle is needed. On top of the obvious character additions from the projects released since the game ended support and some needed DB adds, I'd love a Bulma character that fights with tech like Kokonoe in Blazblue.
The lower end seems a bit harsh for a kids movie, as I do think kids enjoyment should factor into the score. That said, reviews broadly landing on "it's decent" seems pretty fair for what the movies are doing, they're meant to be a fun 90 minutes and not much more. Of course, video game fans will enjoy it more and rate it a bit higher. Illumination just doesn't stack up to the best of Pixar or Dreamworks.
Great! I doubt it will ever be as easy as replacing the PSP battery was back in the day, but keeping it simple is always welcome. The current battery life cycle is just not equipped to last as long as the rest of the system can (this applies to laptops, phones, tablets, portables, etc), so being able to easily change it after 3 or 4 years is really good to give new life to the system.
Great for the Destroy All Humans! games, that first one was so rough it just made me wonder if it wouldn't have been better to just port the PS2 versions. 2nd game brought the PS5 to its knees in split-screen, so I'm guessing it will be SP only.
At least Capcom has the protections written into their contracts. I would have guessed that's a good middle ground, but I get the point about the hardship of going at it solo if he needs to sue. Having union backing you in those matters is a big point of being in a union in the 1st place. So props to him for sticking to his principles.
Capcom could definitely afford to use union contracts and pay union rates (his comments make it seem that they're paying generously anyway), but that's their choice too.
Hurts to see AC4 is getting a remake treatment before AC1, poor Altair's been left to rot in a corner. I would have remake 1 & Bloodlines as single game, with the PSP game directly serving as an epilogue to the main campaign.
It mostly looks solid all around, and plenty of time to clean up what's lacking. I think it's good that they're being realistic with the ambition, rather than aiming to the stratosphere and using upscalers as a clutch to have it run well later. Not feeling the gecko and feel my dedication to the water starter failing.
Hattrem! Though Hattena's whole line is really exquisitely good. Galar originals are broadly really solid overall. I think there's lots of wonderful alt forms too, like Hisuian Growlithe, Goodra and Lilligant, & Galarian Rapidash & Weezing. The homunculus fossil Pokémon are a really inspired choice, as is the fact that there's no way to make the correct combination. I hope it stays a quirk of Galarian scientists, only those nutjobs could see their crimes against nature and think they did a good job.
The consumer friendly route would be to do both, put the games in the Service and also sell them piece meal to those that would rather pay for them, like Sony & Microsoft do. And to be fair, it took Sony time to learn that too, RE Director's Cut was PS+P exclusive for a hot minute before they allowed people to buy it (though they did honor PS3/P purchases so those people owned it).
The lack of a dub is the reason I never bothered to finish Central Fiction, really bad mistake to drop it at the tail-end of the series, especially when it was so good.
Sucks about the pacing issues, bad pacing can tank pretty much any piece of media experience. Still seems like a fun time overall if you can vibe with it.
It bothers me that the NA/EU cover has Mario seemingly hitting the ball away from the net, or I guess you could read it as a whiff given the facial expression. Japan's looks like a poster you'd have on your wall.
@purple_shyguy IIRC in this world the German's have pounded the Italians and Japanese into submission to establish Germany as the sole ruler of the world. So you'd still be killing people in Nazi uniforms regardless of where you are in the world, and if the sheer number of people you kill in these games means anything, a ton of them outside the Germany levels would be non-German already.
I expect it's just a matter of time and while it would be nice to have the game available in time for the 3rd flim, I do get Ubisoft wanting to spread out their big releases a bit. They just released ACS, so I'd expect a Spring release for Avatar.
It's pretty impressive what DLSS is managing to do with those ultra-low resolutions, specially in docked mode where it's blowing it up on really large screens.
The Japanese box-art is gorgeous and eye-catching. It's great, would make you look twice.
The NA box-art has too much going on, & assuming all 3 boxes are the same size, the console itself looks small & crammed in the middle rather than being the center-piece. Any specific games and their logos should be relegated to the back of the box, except SF2.
Europe does it a bit better, the console looks to take up most of the front, but there's so much regulatory bs cluttering it. Useful game count too!
PS. Consoles need to bring back colored-coded face buttons!
Guessing it will go: Berseria -> Xilia 2 -> Zestiria, and I expect a Switch 2 port of Arise sometime in between all of those. Wonder where they go after that, maybe the Vita games?
It's not a game that feels like it would be undoable or so bad on Switch, it's pretty and austere without being a graphics showcase, but it already suffers really bad & consistent frame-rate drops on PS5 in the early outside sections so they're not working with the most optimized code as is.
This is a really fun article. Slay Mega Starmie, Slay!
The Pokedex entry does make clear what they were going for, IMO it just fails to get there in a satisfying way. I'm glad it found it's audience, make the best out of a bad situation kind of thing.
Should be an easy win for CODA, OpenAI making their tools opt-out instead of opt-in was blatantly in the wrong. All the big AI models (chat bots, image generators and video generators) are already trained on all of this IP before the public even gets a sniff of them, the very existence of the tech as it stands hinges on a "they won't sue us" mentality. Which to be fair, has mostly paid off.
It's no coincidence that they picked this set of characters from the last game to do this announcement. Given how Baby Metal dresses in uniform (always with skirts too) & this is to promote a collab, I expect a music video with them dressed as the daughters, maybe Su-Metal dressed as Lady D since she's the lead singer.
IMO the 10-pack option should feature some guarantee. Like guarantee a new card from the whole pack so it feels like it's still worthwhile when you're close to finishing the booster pack. So even if it doesn't give a diamond to help finish, a new star card would give you that nice hit that feels was worthwhile. As it stands, once you have less than 20 diamond cards left you're better off holding unto your pack-points than wasting them on that booster.
Just 12 characters, most of those slots are just filled by both Team Avatar's*, then you have Azula and 1 more character. I'd guess the final slot goes to a boss like Ozai, Zaheer or Kuvira, or more likely Uncle Iroh.
Hope it's an amalgam of GT and Daima SSJ4, in the same vein as kid Goku is of DB and GT. He could really use a little of the red "x10 Kamehameha" juice to stand out among the other 20 characters that shoot a blue kamehameha.
Can't believe Goku gets yet another variant, while Superhero Piccolo was right there to give the poor guy some extra juice. At this point just make a sequel. lol
It's a fantastic game! Highly worth it, highly recommend playing it in Russian. It should scale well on Switch as the game leans on it's art direction, camera angles and lighting to shine, and not on hyper detailed graphics. I think it's gorgeous
3 variants + Lesnar makes for a bad DLC pack. These games already come with half a dozen Cena variants, & Lesnar being released this quickly means he's mostly recycled from last years game (just with a new head model).
@RenanKJ Probably for the same reason it recently got PS5-Xs ports: resolution boost, 60fps, better load times, some ever so slight visual enhancements (that you'll never notice), & for the sales teams it puts the game back on shelves in current gen boxes. All for fairly minimal effort.
I would take less enemies on screen at once for a stable 60fps, but having a silly huge number of enemies at once was a big selling point so I understand their choice. IMO a stable framerate is better than one that's all over the place, yet it would be best to have the option to chose.
Short of some catastrophic tariff misstep I expect her to do as well as Bowser did, which was perfectly fine, if a bit hard to gauge accurately given how behind the scenes his work was. She won't have to shepherd the division through another console launch anytime soon so she should have a fairly smooth start at least.
Nintendo sure likes Sales & Marketing people being President. lol I wish him a nice retirement, he chose to be a more behind the scenes president, though it's just harder to gauge his impact when he's not as in-your-face as Reggie was. I'm sure he did his best in the role and was fairly successful, which was make the shareholders a mountain of cash in the US of A.
