Re: Inside Dev Threatens Legal Action Against Studio Co-Founder As "Bullying" Allegations Arise

It's a pic about a 15 year old game he clearly played a fairly big part in getting made as a co-founder, these adult men have been feuding for 9 years and given PlayDate's nonexistent output since, I'm tempted to believe Jensen has been a bit sidetracked by this beef.
Aside from the cringe aspect of actually using LinkedIn social media aspect, artists should be able to share celebration of their past project and they generally do. This is nothing new particularly using publicly available art or images of the game.

Re: Pokémon Champions Limited To "Select Pokémon" At Launch

@PokeMadness1996 for this 1 specific game it does matter because this is exclusively about the battles. There's no lore, no grand story, no vibes from the journey; just a clean, no nonsense 2v2 turn based-battle game, so yeah I think this game would warrant a bit more detail put into the battles from models to animations.

Not every year is going to be a top year, still good possibility we get another RERemake or RE9 near the end of fiscal year to give it a push near the end.
Switch 2 is VERY likely to get proper ports for RE2R, RE3R, RE4R, RE7 AND RE8 in short order which will undoubtedly bring in some healthy revenue for a fairly low investment, since full-fat RE engine already runs on ARM thanks to the iOS/Mac ports.

Re: PSA: Trading Is Finally Live In Pokémon TCG Pocket, But It's A Real Headache

8thDoctor

It's unbelievably constricted & convoluted. You have to pick a friend first, then select one of your cards, then pray to Arceus that they decide to offer a card you want or that the card you offered even interests them in the first place.
The game should show you your friends card and allow you to pick one you want (assuming they have at least 3 of them), then your friend sees your collection of same rarity cards and picks which they want.

Re: Reaction: Nintendo Pins Hopes On Familiar Fun With Switch 2

@-wc- I'd love it if my Switch Lite could dock, I got no problem buying a separate Lite Dock and Pro controller afterwards, but Nintendo has to think of the common denominator and about price. The family that will buy the console box for their kid & expect everything they need to run the hardware to come bundled in, it's easier to have removable controllers than to add a $70 extra in the box.

Re: Reaction: Nintendo Pins Hopes On Familiar Fun With Switch 2

You're limited by having to bring everything in the box, including being able to do everything while connected to a TV or on the go, and pricing is a concern. I just don't see how they innovate or do something unique without making a pure portable or home-console. Maybe when tech like foldable screens become cheap & resilient enough to be an option we'll get a breakthrough.

This is not a DSi or New 3DS thing, where everything works with the old model & just has a couple bells & whistles if you play it on the new 1. More like a NES to SNES, GB/C to GBA, DS to 3DS, a straightforward sequel to the previous model, with the mouse thing being the little extra that adds some spice.

Re: Surprise Leak Reveals Lenovo Is Making Another Switch-Like Gaming Handheld

8thDoctor

Tech wise this handhelds aren't that much more advanced than Switch 2 will be, the iGPU's are all around PS4/Pro-ish levels which the Switch 2 should be in that ballpark too and for a significantly lower price point.
If Nvidia keeps the Switch DLSS version up to date Switch will get all the fancy DLSS4 improvements that's getting back-ported (basically everything not including the Frame-Gen stuff), while this isn't getting FSR4. Not to say they don't have a market or their own benefits, the specs are much nicer and AMD CPU should run circles around Nvidia's aging stock ARM CPU.

Re: 'Switch 2' Replica Showcased By Accessory Maker Genki At CES 2025

8thDoctor

@AllBLK Exactly, this is pretty normal in the tech world. Every phone and tablet has nothing to surprise, except the look of the color options when unveiled, because by then we've seen every single technical detail leak months beforehand.

The average person doesn't care, nor hears about any of this. So it still hits big when Nintendo holds their Direct

Re: Take-Two Boss Shares Thoughts On 'Switch 2' And Backwards Compatibility

8thDoctor

AMD has an FSR equivalent to support older games or just games that don't implement it, called Radeon Super Resolution (RSR). Even do Sony & Microsoft don't make use of it I think Nvidia could push something out the Switch could use, it's never going to be as good as the game specific version, but decent upscaling of older games with low resolution targets could really benefit.

Re: Sega And Universal Announce 'Shinobi' Movie

8thDoctor

"Near future super ninja goes out to defeat an evil group" is basically the extent of the plot of the series, so there's very broad ways to tackle this without really thinking of it as a videogame adaptation. Even Musashi's outfit is a pretty standard ninja look.

EDIT: Funny thing is if this is a hit I can see Hollywood jumping for the right to make a Ninja Gaiden project, maybe even Tenchu or Shinobido projects, just jumping on that bandwagon.
