I was already interested in this game but this review really sealed the deal for me, it seems so interesting.
Just a question to anyone who played it - does the Switch version have in-game achievements? I just figured those would be a good way to keep track of what you haven't done, so it'd be nice if it did, since obviously the achievement system from other platforms isn't available here.
This seems really good, I was thinking of getting in on sale but it might just go ahead and buy it now. The bazaar aspect seems like a really fun twist on this type of game.
For anyone who played it, do you know how grindy the relationship aspect is? One thing I'm not a fan of in these games is how it can take years of gift giving to max character affinity, especially when there are quests tied to affinity levels. I played Doraemon: Story of Seasons a while back and ended up just watching the final batch of character quest cutscenes on Youtube because it'd take absolute ages to actually unlock them myself.
@JohnnyMind I think it's because the introduction of Megas is a major thing that deserved to be showcased somewhere like the World Championships, but it's a while away so we'll still be getting a couple of regular sets until then.
This is looking quite cool, the legendary beasts ex should be interesting.
It's honestly crazy how successful this game is when there so many other metroidvania games that are just as good if not better. Just like Stardew Valley vs a bunch of other cosy/farming games I guess.
I genuinely couldn't be any less interested in getting this game, but at least this review was quite an amusing read, so at least something of value came from it.
This not appearing in the US/UK Indie World doesn't make any sense, feels like a bigger deal to me than a lot of what did feature there. Exciting that it's finally coming, and so soon.
Shame there isn't a physical version of the complete trilogy, I'd buy that. Will probably still buy the digital one, but likely only when it goes on sale. Also I imagine it'll take a ton of HDD space, which isn't ideal.
There's a mistake in this article, the SteamWorld game that fell "slightly below sales expectations" is Build, not Heist II, as per the link.
Anyway hopefully things will become better for the studio now, they make some really great games. SteamWorld Heist II was excellent and I mean to get The Eternal Die when it goes on sale, the first one was great.
After all the delays it seemed pretty much a given this game would be a mess, but I still didn't think it'd be this bad. What a waste of a very cool idea. At least it's not like there aren't plenty of great games in the same vein to choose from.
Pokémon is a series that has had such a wealth of great spin-offs over the years, even as recently as on the Switch (Mystery Dungeon Rescue Team DX, New Snap and Pokkén are all fantastic), it's a bit depressing how it seems to be all about these types of games now. Really hoping we get at least a couple of worthwhile spin-offs on the Switch 2 eventually.
@Aispen framerate isn't really something I play much mind to, but here even if it seems a bit inconsistent sometimes it's definitely a whole lot smoother than on the Switch 1. I was walking around the homebase yesterday, talking to merchants etc and the differences were very noticeable. The most annoying part playing on the Switch 1 was the delay when checking the menu or talking to merchants, which thankfully isn't a thing anymore. It just looks way nicer too. I'd already completed the game on the Switch 1, but hadn't played the three DLCs yet, so looking forward to doing that on the Switch 2.
This features three games I own but haven't beat yet (Harvestella, Labyrinth of Galleria and Saviours of Sapphire Wings/Stranger In Paradise City), so great news. I'd actually been waiting for the Switch 2 to finally play Harvestella, as playing that handheld on the Switch 1 wasn't the best experience.
I don't know if it's related to this patch but I tried Eiyuden Chronicles on the Switch 2 for the first time yesterday and I was super impressed by how well it runs and how good it looks, definitely the most improved Switch 1 game on the Switch 2 that I've checked so far. I had it set to performance mode on the Switch 1 as that's how it ran best there, now on the Switch 2 I can set it to graphics mode and it runs/looks fantastically.
I expected a higher score at the end of the review, definitely reads more positive than 7/10. I don't usually play city builders but I've had my eye on this one for a while, looks really interesting.
This game somehow completely passed me by despite me literally going through Curse of the Dead Gods right now. Looks very cool, will definitely be picking it up when it next goes on sale.
@PikaPhantom Thanks for the suggestion but that's not something I've ever done and it doesn't really seem worth the hassle/wait/shipping costs. I'll just grab the digital edition on its on sale, or maybe a Switch 2 physical version if they end up releasing one.
Oh wow I didn't know Monster Train 2 was launching this soon. Absolutely loved the first one and definitely getting this. I was already planning on getting Fantasy Life i, and beyond that the other May game I'm planning on getting is Spiritfall, a really cool looking roguelite out on the 9th.
Promise Mascot Agency was already on my wishlist, especially given it was made by the same devs as the excellent Paradise Killer. Adding Botworld Odyssey as well, it looks really fun.
Expelled!, the new game in the same vein as the excellent Overboard! is my March pick. Out of the ones listed here I have to admit none really grabbed my attention in a big way.
These ex Pokémon have such high HP compared to the ones in TCG Pocket. I guess it's a preview of the power creep to expect there over the next few years.
I was expecting more game related news, but while I don't particularly care about either the mobile title or the anime it's very exciting to see a long dormant series get "revived" like this. Surely Konami wouldn't be doing all this if there weren't more Suikoden games in the pipeline.
Suikoden and Xenoblade are the main ones for me, really looking forward to those. Also voted for Atelier Yumia which seems the most interesting out of the rest. Also I was surprised to see On Your Tail on this list, thought that had come out months ago lol
Echoes of the Plum Grove and Ultros, a great farming sim with a twist (the twist being death, sickness, survival elements and Sims-like generations) and one of the most interesting metroidvanias in a while, are my February picks, shame neither got any attention on this site.
Oh this is exciting, definitely feels like there be more it than just the remasters dropping next week. 3 , 4 and 5 on modern consoles would be an absolute dream, I've been dying to replay the latter two for ages, and finally play the former as well. And port Tierkreis while you're at it, that was great too. Of course a brand new Suikoden would be amazing news as well.

Re: "We Are Not Delaying" - Dark Deity 2 Dev Stands Firm Against Silksong
That's great but they could actually put the game up for pre-order in the European eShop, it still isn't there.

Re: Demonschool Gets Last-Minute Delay To Avoid Silksong
lol. I'm sure they loved having an excuse to delay this again.

Really hyped for this one, shame it's not out now same as with other platforms but I'm sure the wait will be worth it.
Re: Round Up: Gamescom Opening Night Live 2025 - Every Switch 1 & 2 Announcement & Trailer
Absolum looks great, definitely looking forward to that one.
Re: Hollow Knight: Silksong "Special Announcement" Is Coming This Thursday
A bit rude to steal Kirby's thunder like that.
Re: Critically Acclaimed Text-Based RPG 'Roadwarden' Comes To Switch Next Week
Hadn't heard of this before but it definitely seems interesting, and yeah, perfect for the Switch. Might buy it.

Nice. Was going to buy the Kirby upgrade pack anyway so might as well make use of the discount.

Nice, I actually got the first one on sale just the other day.

One of them was probably that NIS game that leaked the day before the presentation?

@Sonicka I meant Build (SteamWorld Build is the game mentioned in the link, not SteamWorld Heist II), just edited my post!

Gnarly? Interesting choice of words.
Re: Mini Review: Duck Detective: The Ghost Of Glamping (Switch) - A Quacking Little Mystery

This would have been a day one buy for me if they hadn't cancelled the physical version :/

I agree the art style is a bit uninspired, but that aside this seems super fun.

This is a pleasant surprise. I played this game a few months ago and it was a very enjoyable relaxed metroidvania. Looking forward to this update.

Hah, I actually noticed this straight away. A very cool detail.

So if you get the Mario Kart bundle that's nearly 10% of the internal storage gone with just that one game. Not exactly great.
