I did wonder what had happened to this, I looked for in the eShop and in-game a couple times until I just looked up what had happened and found this tweet earlier today. Kind of an odd thing to happen, but I'm glad we're getting it next week at least.
Between Horizons and Beyond Galaxyland are both day one for me. I want Bloomtown too but I might wait for a sale for that one (unless it gets a nice discount at launch). Big week for pixel art indie games with names starting with "B".
Yeah this looked kinda interesting but clean areas getting dirty again makes it feel a bit too much like endless busiwork just for the sake of adding longevity to the game.
I'm looking forward to the Devil Summoner remasters but damn, I really wish it was Digital Devil Saga instead. Those games are such classics, frustrating they just won't make them available on new consoles.
@McBurn Fair enough! Personally I don't think any game I pre-ordered on the eShop actually turned out to be bad, but then again I only ever pre-order games I'm practially 100% sure I'll like, otherwise I just put then on the wishlist and wait and see.
@McBurn It's just an incentive for people to pre-order, even Nintendo first party games get that multiple retailers. It happens with plenty of great games on the eShop, the last two I preordered with a discount were Darkest Dungeon II and Dicefolk for example, both excellent.
The main game did leave me wonder whatever had happened with Radjen so I'm happy to see the DLC focuses on that. Easily one of the best games of the year and I'm very much looking forward to this.
The uncertainty regarding future updates because of the Humble Games thing kept me from buying this, but if that's no longer an issue guess I can finally give it a go.
@angrybeef it is a metroidvania though, just one that uses a different perspective than metroidvanias usually do. But everything else about it is very much metroidvania, I don't know how anyone can look at the map and say this isn't one.
This dev's previous game, Islets, was extremely good and I'd been anticipating this one as it looks even better. Grabbed it yesterday and it seems great from what little I've played so far.
I grabbed Hyper Light Drifter and Wizard of Legend when this sale started, had been waiting for a discount on both of those for a while. Might also give Unsighted a shot, it looks pretty great.
Balatro coming to Dave The Diver and Dave The Diver coming to Balatro, I love to see the crossover between two of the very best indie games of recent times.
Oh wow there being another Lost In Random game is certainly not something I had expected in the slightest. First game was very cool and very much looking forward to this too.
This being a complete shameless rip-off of Fall Guys and yet becoming the most popular of two has to be one of the saddest, most unfair things to happen in the gaming industry these last few years. I for one am absolutely never touching this game.
Darkest Dungeon II is my pick of the month but Bo looks great as well, just haven't got around to playing it yet.
I actually have no idea what I'd pick for "best game we missed", it doesn't really feel like there's been anything noteworthy that hasn't been covered here.
Yeah I loved the original at the time but really had no desire to play this version... Maybe if it was like a full remake or something I'd have given it a shot, but this basically looked like the same game, and it's not exactly the type of game that asks for repeat plays.
It's a great feeling starting a new JRPG and seeing the map for the first time and knowing you'll get to explore all of that. On the other hand also love slowly filling the blank map in a metroidvania and the like.
I was really looking forward to playing this on the Switch, hope it still makes it somehow. Or if not at least a Switch 2 release further down the line.
I was fairly vaguely interested in this game but after reading the review I think I'm going to pass on it, at the very least until the Switch version is fixed. I definitely like the game's concept, but it doesn't look like it translates to such a great experience.
I got the physical edition of this game and was hoping the season pass would go on sale before buying it but it doesn't seem like that's likely, does it? Annoying to see the deluxe edition which includes the season pass on sale, but the season pass still at full price.
Was just waiting for a reliable review of the Switch version before grabbing this, so now I guess it'll be my next purchase. I love metroidvanias and aesthetically this really couldn't be more up my sleeve, looking forward to giving it a shot.
This caught my attention the first time you posted about it and I'm still intrigued. I think these "Animal Crossing-like" games can be pretty hit and miss, but this one looks great.
Yeah this looks great but I also wish it had local multiplayer. I hope it's good for solo play at least because I'm not really a big fan of online multiplayer (...especially on the Switch).
Dicefolk is absolutely excellent, a perfect mix between Slay The Spire and Pokémon (Pokémon rotation battles more specifically) while also feeling like its own unique thing. Fantastic gameplay, really cool creatures and the difficulty is just right, not too easy or too hard. Really recommend it to anyone who enjoys either roguelike deckbuilders or monster collecting games, or both.
I also really enjoyed Moonstone Island, it kinda feels like a streamlined/fantastical version of Stardew Valley that replaces that game's heavy busy work/routine with exploring sky islands, tackling dungeons, collecting and battling with monsters and so on. It's a mix of a lot of different genres (the combat is card-based too) but it totally works.
I'm usually here for cosy games in general but I'm not quite sure I get the appeal of a farming game that takes place in its entirety on a very tiny field.

Kinda funny to see the format this site always uses to review games applied to something else entirely.

Re: Talking Point: What Game Should Be 'Switch 2's 'Skyrim Moment'?
The new Dragon Age so I don't have to buy a PS5 to play it. But the Final Fantasy VIIs and Baldur's Gate would be nice too.

There are so many cool indie games being released in September and October this being delayed to 2025 is honestly kind of a good thing.

Re: Balatro Scores Crossover With The Witcher, Vampire Survivors And More In New Free Update
Yeah the new art looks nice but I was expecting some actual content, definitely a bit disappointing. But well, it is free.

Balatro coming to Dave The Diver and Dave The Diver coming to Balatro, I love to see the crossover between two of the very best indie games of recent times.

Re: Soapbox: Why I Love A Good Map, And That Time I Mapped Yoshi's Melons For Nintendo Power
I do love a good map, both for the usefulness and the way the can draw you into the world. It's not particularly useful but the Final Fantasy X map is a great example of the latter: https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/finalfantasy/images/a/a7/FFXMAPs.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20131227201920
It's a great feeling starting a new JRPG and seeing the map for the first time and knowing you'll get to explore all of that. On the other hand also love slowly filling the blank map in a metroidvania and the like.

Re: New RPG From 'Rune Factory' Creator Lands On Switch Next Month
This wasn't really on my radar but it looks pretty cool. Reminds me a lot of Silent Hope, which was a great game.
Re: Feature: Nintendo Life eShop Selects & Readers' Choice (June 2024)
Dicefolk is absolutely excellent, a perfect mix between Slay The Spire and Pokémon (Pokémon rotation battles more specifically) while also feeling like its own unique thing. Fantastic gameplay, really cool creatures and the difficulty is just right, not too easy or too hard. Really recommend it to anyone who enjoys either roguelike deckbuilders or monster collecting games, or both.
