@Grumblevolcano Thanks for saying that, was beginning to think it was just me. Oh, and don't feel the need to make any lists, I wrote all this before reading your comment, it's my general thoughts, not aimed at you.π
I wish the article had some lists of old 3rd party games being ported to Switch 2 like Cyberpunk and SW Outlaws, a list of current gen games dual releasing like, well I'll give them Sonic Racing b/c close enough, and then a 3rd list of future games releasing at the same time like FF7 Pt 3. And RE 9, unless that's already out. So. Many. RE. Games.
Then follow those 3 lists w/ a list of 3rd party games that have not yet been announced for Switch 2, like CoD and GTA 6.
Then we can look at all 4 lists and judge based on that how good current support is.
The 3 big sports games are a big win for Switch 2 - MLB, NFL, FIFA (sorry NBA, NHL and wrasslin) - they should get more attention.
I'm tired, been a long day dealing w/ stuff, so I'm not doing it, but the article should have.
I mean where's Genshin Impact and the other Hoyoverse games? Where's Infinity Niki? Fortnite is good, and Disney Speedstorm, so support is there. Not saying it's barren. I just need lists to process.
Edit: Yeah I'm not getting into GKC and FPS, you people are crazy. This is about 3rd party games coming to Switch 2 or not. You want discs and FPS you can play most of these games elsewhere b/c 3rd party. π€·ββοΈ
Wait didn't this game just release for $70 on Switch 2, and now they're charging another $25 for more of it? Geez, it's like Nintendo went from being run by gaming enthusiasts to business managers. π€
I'm really getting sick of this BS. Every game should be free-to-start if this is how Nintendo is releasing its games now. At least the $40 and $50 amiibo don't seem to do much.
If I see it half price clearance at Best Buy like I bought my Metroid Dread 2-oack, maybe I'll pick it up. I'll always refer to it as the Akira amiibo though.
These amiibo prices getting close to the game prices - see $50 Kirby and I'm guessing that big transforming wheels one is $60 - is kind of absurd though. It's getting to the point Nintendo should bundle the game for an extra $10 w/ the amiibo like when they used to bundle the amiibo w/ the game for an extra $10. π€
@StAmbrosius "Trilogy" That's what I was thinking while reading the article. Can't tell if you're just making a Triforce pun or not but that's how I read it.
Now I'm not opposed to ongoing movie franchises, I watch a lot of them, but I'm not a fan of 1 long story being broken into parts that don't release for years. I hate cliffhanger endings that don't wrap up the story. π
My other thought was the description box reads like an Uncharted or Tomb Raider movie. I can see how they could get there from a story like Twilight Princess w/ it's big set pieces, but a Zelda movie should be more grand fantasy like LotR than action adventure like Indiana Jones. This reads like an Indiana Jones movie.
Wow, 5 full months for filming? That sounds promising. At least we know it won't all be blue screen based. Maybe they can get a complete grand adventure in 1 movie. Then the post credit scene can set up the next. I'm assuming they're thinking ongoing franchise. Which I'm all in on. I just don't want a cliffhanger ending. Or they acquire 1 piece of the Triforce per movie. Worked for LotR, but the Hobbit went on to long.
@benmalsky198 Low self esteem? π€·ββοΈ A general hatred of everything and popular things are just an easier target?
If you're a decent human being that nay not make any sense to you but a lot of people aren't. I'm still trying to wrap my head around the whole "empathy is bad" thing.π
@Jhena That scene in Final Fantasy 8 is the correct answer and the fact that it isn't even listed here is crazy to me. It's my favorite video game moment of all time. I suppose maybe it doesn't hold up, FF8 gets a lot of gate, a lot of it deserved, but in 1998 that scene blew my mind.
@benmalsky198 I used to hate Fortnite, before I played it. 100 people fight it out to be the last 1 standing, repeat. Sounded stupid to me. Then I played it. It isn't that. Well there are a couple of modes that are, I don't play those. I hate first person shooters, I just can't. Plus Fortnite is popular, that's a hard pass for some people.π
Nice review, but I'm going to wait awhile on this one until the dlc situation is is known. The first HW got some fun dlc like playing as Ganon. I tend to not go back to games once I'm done. I'll probably never play the Kirby Forgotten Land dlc, though it l8oks fun. Not $20 fun though.
@OorWullie I've been waiting nearly a decade for a Switch TV. π OK to be fair I gave up like 5 years ago but I'm blaming COVID.π But, while the Switch maybe sold well enough Nintendo didn't need a Switch Mini, and it wasn't really powerful enough to be a home console anyway, I think the Switch 2 could get one in a few years based on the current power and price. Switch 2 Lite first for $299, then Switch 2 TV for $299 a year later. Preferably cheaper w/o the screen, dock and battery, but probably $299 b/c Nintendo is Apple now.π€
The little red $99 Wii Mini did launch really late, so maybe there's still a chance, but at 160m that market is probably tapped out, so I think they save it for Switch 2. $450 is just too expensive for everyone getting multiple at home, gotta get lower for the kids. And the dads.
@Axecon Just 2 articles ago NL wrote that Switch sold 2 million consoles and it expects to sell 2 million more, so that's 157 mil at least. And until we get a kid friendly $299 Switch 2 Lite it will probably keep selling. 160m is probably possible.
"Naturally, this also means that sales for the original Switch family of systems have tanked, with the console pulling in a meagre 1.89 million in sales, a hefty drop of 60% year-on-year. As a result, Nintendo has decreased its forecast for the Switch accordingly, lowering console sales from 4.5 million to 4 million."
@The_Nintendo_Pedant Watched the Vid after the post.π€ͺ For some reason I was never into Green Day back in the day, was in my Brit pop shoe gaze phase and Charlatans UK, The Verve and Blur had the sound covered, but I've been hearing them more lately and kinda liking them. π
@Grumblevolcano Age of I. is on my radar enough that I went back to the last 1, Calamity?, b/c I only played the beginning when I bought it. But then I started SMG 1& 2 on Wii U, so when I'm donevw/ 2, currently 16 stars in. But I'm really looking forward to Splatoon so it bothers me it's gone radio silent. I wish I could like MP4 but I don't do 1st person. And the last trailer in the Direct looked like a spin-off game anyway.
@The_Nintendo_Pedant "The Macy's Day Parade" is what everyone actually calls it, but I just refuse to dignify that with a mention. π (No seriously it's a long time pet peeve, like people who call the monster Frankenstein. Ignorance is bliss I guess.π)
@Grumblevolcano I honestly keep forgetting MP4 is coming out. And HW marketing seems lacking. And the Splatoon spinoff forgotten. I do know about Kirby Air Riders though. Nintendo can't seem to promote more than 1 game at a time.
I suspect this trailer will air during the parade as Mario is getting his own balloon. It may not even be just a normal 30 second commercial, I could see the hosts promoting a longer 2 minute trailer as part of the show. People outside the USA may not know this but the parade, the Thanksgiving parade, the Macy's parade, the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade - it's known by any of these names - is a big deal here. Nintendo may run Switch 2 ads several times during the broadcast. Could even sponsor it - The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade Sponsored by Nintendo - b/c the title wasn't already long enough.π
I get all the Fortnite hate, didn't realize there was so much towards the Simpsons. It's the Simpsons, it just kinda of is, like the sky and the sea. π€·ββοΈ
I don't play Fortnite on the weekends but I did do the 10 minute event - I don't count watching as playing - and I liked what I saw. Looking forward to getting to it this week. Also appreciate a short 4 week run, the previous season was like 2+ months.
@Antraxx777 Yeah I'm probably picking up Kirby before the holidays, I feel pretty good about that one, despite the $250 worth of hardware dlc in the form of amiibo. They don't seem to unlock anything in game. Though for $250 those 5 amiibo should unlock the entire game.
Though Sakurai also once said no dlc was planned for Smash, so there is that.
@Liam_Doolan Considering it's a video game in 2025 I'd be more surprised if it didn't. The only game releasing in 2025 not getting dlc is MKW for some reason. Other games not getting dlc don't count b/c they're Switch games w/ dlc already added. π
Man, why are you dealing w/ my nonsense on the weekend. You guys at NL need to form a union. No nonsense on the weekends. π
@Liam_Doolan Oh sure blame the company PR. π (I mean why wouldn't they call it full when they have so many people defending them. Could only be half, see MK8D before the $25 season pass. I mean Amazon offers FREE shipping for $140. π€ Words don't matter anymore.)
@BTB20 See the HW dlc below. Much more than what DKB was. Well so far. Also these days plenty of $60 or $70 games get pricey dlc. I mean season passes are a thing.
@MegaVel91 Dude, a baseball game is 9 innings. They played 9 innings tonight and everyone should have just gone home, why keep going. You bought a ticket for 9 innings, you got 9 innings, go home.
Do you know what they call the edition of a video game when they release it post launch including the dlc? "Complete edition". If the game is complete at launch how is it also complete when it includes the dlc? Schrodinger's video game.π€·ββοΈ See Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition and The Witcher 3 Complete Edition as examples.
For a website where so many people lose their minds b/c game key carts don't contain the complete game you want to argue that a part of the game is the full game?
To be fair to HW: AOC it might be full. Or full enough that it wouldn't matter. In that case fine, I waited for nothing. But the dlc for the 1st HW was significant. I'm glad I played. So I'll wait for the full game.
Look at all the extra content for HW. Do you still consider that launch part to be the full game?

"The full game will once again arrive next week.."
I find it very hard to belive that in 2025 the FULL of any game will arrive next week. The base game, first part, opening section, whatever you want to call it, but full ain't it. Heck a very single player game like DK Bananza had a big part of that released a few months after release and who knows how long they'll be adding content to that before the full game is done.
Full game.π€£
I'll buy this next year when hopefully by then I can get the full game.π
I have like 1,000 hours in ACNH, thanks COVID lock down, and it was my 1st AC game. I never bought the dlc. I did start playing Hello Kitty Island Adventure which is basically the same game, only more story.
I may go back for 3.0 just to try out the amiibo stuff. I won't pay $5 for mouse or 4k.
But I do like the overall feel of this article, that deja vu feeling Wii U owners are getting w/ all of the games being ported w/ paid upgrades rather than just a ton of new games. We only had 4byears of Wii U of 8 years of Switch but we still own more Wii U disc than Switch carts b/c we don't double dip.
I was going to double dip on MK8 Deluxe Complete b/c I never got to play the season pass and wanted it on the cart, but we got MKW instead. I would have passed on MK8D 4k for $5 if I still needed to pay $25 for the season pass. Gaming is so anti-consumer these days.π€
So yeah. Backwards compatibility is nice, but it's not as nice as new games for our $450. I think I'm only looking forward to the Splatoon spinoff, hoping it's like Jak and Daxtor.
@The_Nintendo_Pedant I wasn't really expecting it but I think it's worth the acknowledgement that it isn't included. Could have said so in 1 of the previous 5 or 6 articles on the topic but I'm glad they finally said it. I would have once again mentioned the lack of Player's Choice or Nintendo Selects line up of games this, or last, gen, and how ACNH really should only be a $30 game at this point, so $65 probably should include the dlc, but I suppose NL can't bite the hand that feeds them. Though if NL decides to write yet another article later today about the lack of a discount price line, well I wouldn't be surprised. π
@fR0z3nS0u1 This is only like the 5th or 6th article they've written about this update today, gotta hit double digits before they get the date right. π€£ And I'm still waiting for them to mention the $25 dlc which shockingly isn't included in the $65 version of the 5 year old game.π€
Another article about Nintendo selling a nearly 6 year old game for $65, not a cheaper version like a Nintendo Selects or Player's Choice as you would expect for a nearly 6 year old game, and Nintendo Life can't even be bothered to mention the $25 Happy Home Paradise for the game if it's included or not? I think it's included in NSO + MO Money MO Money MO Money edition but NL can't even be bothered to mention that.
Maybe that's why the Switch 2 version is only a $65 game that's 6 years old, you still need to pay an extra $25, or the more expensive online, to get the rest of the game.
Thank you for doing this I'm old and easily confused.π€ͺ
I still wonder about the $24.99 dlc. Like, how is it not even mentioned, and this is a 6 year old game w/ a years old dlc, surely Nintendo should have included it on the new $65 Switch 2 version cart. How does a company even sell a 6 year old game for full retail price with minimal upgrades? What ever happened to Selects and Player's Choice games? π€
@antlion Thanks. I don't pay for any online anywhere. Just not my thing. Also not a Joymouse guy.
@UmbreonsPapa Thanks. It does. Maybe I'll watch the rest of it while I eat lunch.
@thesilverbrick Thanks. 12 minute slow talking video is a bit much in the morning. First 2 minutes were Switch 2 stuff then I stopped at online b/c I don't.
Well I'll give the fee update a go if my 1,000 save file transfered over. Something happened to our 7 year old Switch, it goes black after 20 minutes. Haven't gotten around to factory default resetting it yet but all the other tricks haven't worked. Fortunately don't miss it owning the 2.
I'm a little curious how the amiibo work. We have like 70 of them. Oh well, dark dats of winter it is. How many roaches will my island have after 4 years of inactivity?π±
Can we talk Nintendo Life, or any really super nice person π into laying out all the particulars, since the last few gens of gaming suck (from a poor consumer perspective) at updates and dlc.
Does ACNH on Switch update to 3.0 or only the Switch 2 version update gets 3.0 after paying for it? Do we need to have purchased the ACNH HHP dlc to be able to upgrade to 3.0?
I feel like I may be making this more difficult than it is.π
@hisownsidekick Nice of you to stick up for the site.π I like it here. Been reading and commenting here for 15 years. Here and Pushsquare are my only gaming sites. But I don't like being told I can "unlock" something in an article title but only to read in the article I have to buy the dlc first. If Nintendo wants me to buy dlc to then try and unlock stuff make the game free-to-start. Not that that's NL's fault, but thry can at least report it accurately. That's all I ask. π€·ββοΈ
@sevex As a PS4 - PS5 owner I already went through the price upcharge thing so I guess I'm a little numb too it. Not happy mind you, just grudging acceptance that the class war is over and we lost. But losing the class war to big greedy companies is one thing. I'd at least like the media I read to not gloss over the fact that I have to buy dlc to "unlock" something in a game. It's a new enough disservice to the fans that I think it should be pointed out. The "it goes w/o saying" was salt in the wound. π
@hisownsidekick My disappointment is that no one else seems to be disappointed and Nintendo Life is trying to sweep it under the rug. I kind of explain it below.
@Suketoudara "so not really sure why you're including it in the cost"
Fair question. Here's why. A lot of Switch 2 games are Switch games being sold as more, like Kirby Forgotten Land. It was a $60 Switch game you can play on Switch, or $80 on Switch 2, b/c your paying for the dlc and the update. You can't play DKB on Switch. You can play SMG 1&2 on Switch, or the updated versions on Switch 2, in this case at no extra cost. But several other Switch games are available for more on Switch 2 than Switch for more money. DKB isn't on Switch. You need a Switch 2 to play it. One of the few games along w/ MKW you do. Hope that helps.π
@RoboCube I bought the game, haven't bought the DLC. That's not really my point though. The article and title are my issue.
Here's the title: "Two Classic Donkey Kong Icons May Soon Join Bananza As Unlockable Figures"
The figures aren't joining Bananza as unlockables. We're all gamers here, we know what unlockable should mean. The title also doesn't mention that this is part of the $20 dlc DK Island and Emerald Rush. The article title should include Emerald Rush.
And the article shouldn't say "it goes w/o saying" just b/c the title didn't say it. π
$20 dlc to enjoy your $70 single player game that you just bought that you had to buy a new $450 console to play.
I'm sorry, but this game didn't need to be $70 if we were just going to have to pay another $20 to keep playing it so soon after launch and I can't stand everyone (meaning mostly NL) treating it like it's no big deal that Nintendo is doing this b/c I'm pretty sure if it was an EA game everyone would be screaming about what a bad decision this was. This isn't a $60 Switch game that needed a new $20 upgraded coat of paint, it's a $70 Switch 2 exclusive that just released and now Nintendo is trying to FOMO another $20 out of everyone. And not a peep.π€
@boxyguy Beat me by a few seconds w/ the Mickey Mouse comparison but I'm leaving it anyway. π
While I don't know if humankind can survive another 60 years, but if it does, I'm sure Mario can.
Mickey Mouse will be 100 in only 3 more years, 2028. Mario has what Mickey has - games, movies, TV shows, theme parks, and now a balloon in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade. He's good to a'go.
If you think the new Mario game output timing is bad - I want a new 3D Mario as well but DKB is probably it - then consider this:
FF7, 8, 9 came out 3 years in a row, 1997, 98, 99
And it's taking them 8 years just to re-release 7.
I'm guessing the DQ games have a similar recently slow timeline as we wait seemingly forever for the long ago announced DQ12. (Yeah I know, 1, 2 & 3, and 7, but 12 was announced).
The day 1 update could just be to support the 3 new amiibo he just announced, which aren't due out until sometime next year, not sure they're all dated yet. So if it wasn't a day 1 update it would be next year. Also possible if people spend $50 each on these amiibo they'll make more, which will also need to be updated.
Look, I hate dlc and season passes and $70-pto-start games, just make your game then move on to the next, but it's Sakurai, the game won't be finished until he's completely satisfied w/ the competitive balance, and that may be awhile. If you watch the Directs he has very specific ideas about player numbers and the ability to win. Did you hear him rip MKW? π€£
I trust the guy to fix the game, it's very much his game, but it's hard to balance an online game w/o online players, some circumstances are unforeseen. π€·ββοΈ
First Mario Ballon? I've been watching the parade for decades, even been there once, and I think if anyone would have asked me if he had a balloon before or not I would have said yes.
Pikachu, Sonic, Goku maybe, perhaps PacMac, I feel like there have been a bunch of video game related balloons. No Mario is just odd. Glad that oversight is being corrected.
Makes me wonder if anyone ever asked and Nintendo said no?
Here's an old article updated in 2016 if anyone is interested.
That's good too. I'm not a big Smash guy in part b/c I just don't like my games in 2D, and I didn't really like MKW b/c it felt like something was missing something (besides a jump button and button mapping) but thus looks pretty good. I never played the original, and the steering controls sound weird, but if you take the best parts of Smash and Kart and put them together, well certainly there must be some fun to be had.π
I was all in on the first HW dlc and all, then only played a little if the 2nd as my kids finished it and told me it wasn't that good.
This does not look like a day 1. Is Nintendo even helping to market it? Kirby Air Riders had 2 long Directs and that doesn't release for another month and this is out in only 2 weeks? 2 weeks?
So besides the lack of marketing this seems like the type of game that will get a couple of patches, maybe some dlc, and go on sale. BF 2026 should be about right.
I like how the Direct basically made this game "Super Smash Racing 3D". I'm not that into fighters, or 2D, but racing can be fun. And this seems to be the closest we've gotten to a Subspace Emmisary story mode in awhile.
Not sure if it's Day 1, I don't really do competitive or online, but I'm really thinking about it.
Not thinking about spending $250 on amiibo though. At that price if you buy 3 you should get the game at no additional cost, mail in your bar codes or something.π
Oh my 1 downside to the Direct was I don't understand Japanese, so I couldn't really pay attention at the beginning while I was cooking breakfast. But I think it shows how good it was that no one even mentions the lack of voice over. If a normal Direct was only in Japanese you know people would complain.π€·ββοΈ
I just finished replaying SMG yesterday, Wii disc in my Wii U on my 75" 4k TV, and it held up really well. Not sure if the Wii U helps with some sort of upscaling of Wii games but I was impressed, and I'm very much a graphics person. Gameplay is still unique with all of the pointing, glad my Wii sensor bar was still on top of my TV after all these years. I still have 33 stars left before unlocking the last area but that's beyond me at this point, would rather just play 2.
It's probably worth the $70 if you haven't played these before and you like 3D platformer games. π
I just got to layer 900 last night. Was interested in the dlc event until I read this was $20 dlc only. I had forgotten this game had that dlc as I was so not interested in it. Especially not at that price, maybe $4.99 like the Pikmin challenge levels, and for a brand new Switch 2 game.
It was 1 thing fir Nintendo to charge $20 to upgrade $60 Switch games to $70 Switch 2 games and add a little dlc, that's $10 for the upgrade, $10 for the dlc. DKB is already a $70 Switch 2 game. We shouldn't need to pay an extra $10 for an upgrade. By Nintendo's own standard pricing conventions the dlc should be $10 max. So why $20? π€
Looks like the equivalent of a Nickelodeon racing game, so a fighter for kids maybe? Not everything needs to be for the 18-25 crowd.
Of course a paid season pass means it's probably not that, but maybe it should be. Don't think it will fair we'll against that upcoming Marvel Tokon fighting game that looks incredible.
@1UP_MARIO This being free, and not $5 each or whatever Nintendo was charging us to watch the 3 previous Pikmin ads, is what stands out to me. It cost them something to make this, and they just put it out there, seemingly for no reason. It's a nice change of pace for Nintendo.
Thanks to all the people questioning the survey b/c it is poorly worded. π
I feel like the survey is meant to convey full price, or close to it, and within say 30 days of release. I mean any game you buy digital is going to be "new" even if it's 5 years old on sale for $1US (or local equivalent). Does it include gifts? I buy games as gifts for my kids and nephew. Does it include $4.98 games at Target on the clearance end cap?
Survey should probably be at least 3 questions:
How many AAA games do you buy near release? How many indie games do you buy at release? How many games do you buy a year in total?
@Ogbert I like your Galaxy Rosalina take. It doesn't quite fit w/ the current games, Luma are bigger than Pikmin, but it could very well work w/ the upcoming Galaxy movie. And much to my chagrin it still feels too soon for Pikmin 5, so making something new movie related does make more sense. And they need to sell those new $40 amiibo in 6 months.
I have this thing in DK Bananza where every time I engage Bananza mode by holding down R1 & L1 I somehow bring up the Home screen. I think it has something to do with always keeping my pointer fingers on R2 & L2 and when I quickly bring those fingers up to activate it my right thumb rotates down to the Home button. I'm playing with the Joycon 2 in the Grip 2 b/c that's how my kid plays and I'm too lazy too take them off.
Funny enough I don't think it ever happened holding them separately, it's something about the Grip. If it keeps happening I'm going to have to start taking them off the Grip 2, it's quite annoying.π
@PJOReilly If you want a fun Kart game that looks great on PS5, also available on Switch 2, and iPad (haven't played it on either) and is free-to-start which is basically a demo, Disney Speedstorm has both MKW and Sonic Crossworlds beat for me.
I was so excited for MKW when we got our Switch 2 but it wasn't really doing it for me. I beat every cup in 50cc mode but then got DKB and I haven't gone back. I played the Sonic demo on Switch and it looked like Skylanders Superchargers on the Wii which isn't ideal in 2025. So I played it on PS5 and while it does look much better than Switch still not Speedstorm graphical quality.
So while it's probably difficult to jump into Disney Speedstorm right now due to the monetization up the wazoo it does look great on PS5, probably OK on Switch 2, plays great, it smartly has a dedicated jump button and R & L for gas & drift, and numerous modes - weekly tracks, daily challenges, online for Fred no PS+ required, couch vs, and a variety of fun characters, the majority of which have voice acting.
The monetization sucks, but if people want to compare the game play of MKW vs Sonic Crossworlds it's probably worth their time to try out Disney Speedstorm on Switch 2 or PS5. No cost.
Does the pack include 3 dozen young children crying in the background as Cena gets torn to shreds by Lesnar? Like Paper Mario, but more upsetting. π
Sorry, my wife is still mad about the kids from the other night. They seemed legitimately scarred for life. I think wrasslin is doing a USA storyline now where we all suffer and die. I prefer the 80s stuff. π

Re: Opinion: Third-Party Support For Switch 2 Is Already A Dream Come True
You want discs and FPS you can play most of these games elsewhere b/c 3rd party. π€·ββοΈ
Re: Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Gets Faster On Switch 2 Next Month
Will be keeping my eye out for Black November sales on the Switch edition then. π
Re: PokΓ©mon Legends: Z-A's Mega Dimension DLC Scores December Release Date
Wait didn't this game just release for $70 on Switch 2, and now they're charging another $25 for more of it? Geez, it's like Nintendo went from being run by gaming enthusiasts to business managers. π€
I'm really getting sick of this BS. Every game should be free-to-start if this is how Nintendo is releasing its games now. At least the $40 and $50 amiibo don't seem to do much.
Re: Gallery: The 'Samus & Vi-O-La' amiibo For Metroid Prime 4 Could Be The Best Yet
It's getting to the point Nintendo should bundle the game for an extra $10 w/ the amiibo like when they used to bundle the amiibo w/ the game for an extra $10. π€
Re: The Legend Of Zelda Movie Is Now "In Production" In New Zealand

Re: Talking Point: What's The Best Firework Sequence In A Video Game?
@Jhena That scene in Final Fantasy 8 is the correct answer and the fact that it isn't even listed here is crazy to me. It's my favorite video game moment of all time. I suppose maybe it doesn't hold up, FF8 gets a lot of gate, a lot of it deserved, but in 1998 that scene blew my mind.
Re: Fortnite's Simpsons Collab Is Now Live, Watch New "Mini Episodes" Every Week
Re: Review: Hyrule Warriors: Age Of Imprisonment (Switch 2) - A Stunning Slice Of Musou, Worthy Of The Zelda Canon
Re: Switch Is Poised To Be Nintendo's Best-Selling Console Of All Time
@OorWullie I've been waiting nearly a decade for a Switch TV. π OK to be fair I gave up like 5 years ago but I'm blaming COVID.π But, while the Switch maybe sold well enough Nintendo didn't need a Switch Mini, and it wasn't really powerful enough to be a home console anyway, I think the Switch 2 could get one in a few years based on the current power and price.

Re: A Trailer For The Super Mario Galaxy Movie Will Debut This Month, It's Claimed
The Gamestop holiday ad came in the mail today. First page was all Switch 2 -MKW, DKB, Kirby, PokΓ©mon Z to A, and MP4 right in the middle. That's a nice holiday line-up but I don't feel like Nintendo is really in marketing mode yet. Maybe they need a "Holiday Direct"? The app only goes so far. I'm not sure what PS5 and Xbox have releasing this holiday - last year was Astrobot and Indiana Jones and this year is waiting for GTA 6 in 2026 I guess? - so Nintendo should have the games market locked up. Still got to advertise though.π€·ββοΈ
@The_Nintendo_Pedant "The Macy's Day Parade" is what everyone actually calls it, but I just refuse to dignify that with a mention. π (No seriously it's a long time pet peeve, like people who call the monster Frankenstein. Ignorance is bliss I guess.π)
Re: A Trailer For The Super Mario Galaxy Movie Will Debut This Month, It's Claimed

I don't play Fortnite on the weekends but I did do the 10 minute event - I don't count watching as playing - and I liked what I saw. Looking forward to getting to it this week. Also appreciate a short 4 week run, the previous season was like 2+ months.
Re: Hyrule Warriors: Age Of Imprisonment In-Store Demos Now Available (North America)
Re: Hyrule Warriors: Age Of Imprisonment In-Store Demos Now Available (North America)
@AmplifyMJ Thanks. I'm glad someone got it. π
No nonsense on the weekends. π
Re: Hyrule Warriors: Age Of Imprisonment In-Store Demos Now Available (North America)

Re: Hyrule Warriors: Age Of Imprisonment In-Store Demos Now Available (North America)
Re: Opinion: Animal Crossing On Switch 2 Has Me Equal Parts Buzzing And Baffled
Re: Animal Crossing: New Horizons Is Nintendo's Cheapest Switch 2 Edition Yet
@dskatter They don't have to read their mind to mention it. I mentioned it, I didn't have to ask my uncle who works at Nintendo about it.
I mean they wrote an entire article about it just today so maybe they read my comment and realized the error of their ways.π
Re: PSA: Don't Expect Animal Crossing: New Horizons - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition To Include The DLC
Though if NL decides to write yet another article later today about the lack of a discount price line, well I wouldn't be surprised. π
Re: Poll: Animal Crossing: New Horizons Is Getting A Huge Update In Early 2026, What Are You Most Excited For?
@fR0z3nS0u1 This is only like the 5th or 6th article they've written about this update today, gotta hit double digits before they get the date right. π€£ And I'm still waiting for them to mention the $25 dlc which shockingly isn't included in the $65 version of the 5 year old game.π€
Re: Animal Crossing: New Horizons Is Nintendo's Cheapest Switch 2 Edition Yet
But NL can't even be bothered to mention it.
Re: Everything Included In The Animal Crossing: New Horizons - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition & Free 3.0 Update
What ever happened to Selects and Player's Choice games? π€
I may try and boot it up for the 3.0 update but I'm not paying $5 for the rest. Hopefully my save file transfered over, our old Switch only works for 20 minutes before blacking out.π©
Re: Surprise! Animal Crossing: New Horizons - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition Arrives Next Year
@antlion Thanks.
Re: Surprise! Animal Crossing: New Horizons - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition Arrives Next Year
Can we talk Nintendo Life, or any really super nice person π into laying out all the particulars, since the last few gens of gaming suck (from a poor consumer perspective) at updates and dlc.
Does ACNH on Switch update to 3.0 or only the Switch 2 version update gets 3.0 after paying for it?
Do we need to have purchased the ACNH HHP dlc to be able to upgrade to 3.0?
I feel like I may be making this more difficult than it is.π
Switch -
ACNH
ACNH HHP dlc $25
Free update?
3.0 paid update?
Switch 2 -
ACNH $60 base game
$5 upgrade pack
3.0
Does Switch 2 edition REQUIRE having spent $25 on HHP dlc?
I played ACNH for like 1,000 hours during the pandemic. Had my fill. Never bought the dlc. But I do have a Switch 2 so maybe...
Re: Two Classic Donkey Kong Icons May Soon Join Bananza As Unlockable Figures
The "it goes w/o saying" was salt in the wound. π
Re: Two Classic Donkey Kong Icons May Soon Join Bananza As Unlockable Figures
@hisownsidekick My disappointment is that no one else seems to be disappointed and Nintendo Life is trying to sweep it under the rug. I kind of explain it below.
@Suketoudara
"so not really sure why you're including it in the cost"
Here's the title:
"Two Classic Donkey Kong Icons May Soon Join Bananza As Unlockable Figures"
The figures aren't joining Bananza as unlockables. We're all gamers here, we know what unlockable should mean. The title also doesn't mention that this is part of the $20 dlc DK Island and Emerald Rush. The article title should include Emerald Rush.
And the article shouldn't say "it goes w/o saying" just b/c the title didn't say it. π

"It goes without saying that you'll need the..."

Re: Takaya Imamura's Comment On Super Mario Odyssey's 8th Anniversary Makes Us Feel Very Old
If you think the new Mario game output timing is bad - I want a new 3D Mario as well but DKB is probably it - then consider this:
FF7, 8, 9 came out 3 years in a row, 1997, 98, 99
And it's taking them 8 years just to re-release 7.
I'm guessing the DQ games have a similar recently slow timeline as we wait seemingly forever for the long ago announced DQ12. (Yeah I know, 1, 2 & 3, and 7, but 12 was announced).
Re: Sakurai Confirms Day One Update For Kirby Air Riders On Switch 2

Re: Kirby Air Riders Direct #2: Every Announcement - How Would You Rate it?
@antlion "Kirby Smash Kart Bros."
Re: Hyrule Warriors: Age Of Imprisonment Trailer Sets Up The Imprisoning War
@IronMan30 Does your wife play mosou games w/ you? My wife watches me play a lot of stuff, currently DKB, and she plays a lot, currently 3 player Sea of Stars w/ my kid, and we have Split Fiction ready when we're done w/ that, but too much button mashing repetition in these for her to either watch or play. She didn't watch me play TotK either, too slow. Guess I can see what we're up to in a year. I figure my 20 something kids are going to move out some day. Maybe.π©
Re: Hyrule Warriors: Age Of Imprisonment Trailer Sets Up The Imprisoning War
I was all in on the first HW dlc and all, then only played a little if the 2nd as my kids finished it and told me it wasn't that good.
This does not look like a day 1. Is Nintendo even helping to market it? Kirby Air Riders had 2 long Directs and that doesn't release for another month and this is out in only 2 weeks? 2 weeks?
So besides the lack of marketing this seems like the type of game that will get a couple of patches, maybe some dlc, and go on sale. BF 2026 should be about right.
Re: EA Is Diving Headfirst Into Generative AI With New Partnership

Re: Kirby Air Riders Direct #2: Every Announcement - How Would You Rate it?
Re: Super Mario Galaxy 1 & 2 Topped The Best-Selling Switch Games... In September?
I just finished replaying SMG yesterday, Wii disc in my Wii U on my 75" 4k TV, and it held up really well. Not sure if the Wii U helps with some sort of upscaling of Wii games but I was impressed, and I'm very much a graphics person. Gameplay is still unique with all of the pointing, glad my Wii sensor bar was still on top of my TV after all these years. I still have 33 stars left before unlocking the last area but that's beyond me at this point, would rather just play 2.
It's probably worth the $70 if you haven't played these before and you like 3D platformer games. π
Re: Nintendo Direct For Kirby Air Riders Announced For Thursday, 23rd October
Half a dozen new $50 amiibo and Sakurai playing with them instead of the game for 10 minutes. π
Re: Donkey Kong Bananza's First DLC In-Game Event Kicks Off Next Week
So why $20? π€
Re: Avatar: The Last Airbender Is Getting Its Very Own Switch 2 Fighter Next Year
Looks like the equivalent of a Nickelodeon racing game, so a fighter for kids maybe? Not everything needs to be for the 18-25 crowd.
Of course a paid season pass means it's probably not that, but maybe it should be. Don't think it will fair we'll against that upcoming Marvel Tokon fighting game that looks incredible.
Re: Sorry, Nintendo's Recent Pikmin Videos Aren't Hinting At Something More
@1UP_MARIO This being free, and not $5 each or whatever Nintendo was charging us to watch the 3 previous Pikmin ads, is what stands out to me. It cost them something to make this, and they just put it out there, seemingly for no reason. It's a nice change of pace for Nintendo.
Re: Poll: How Many New Games Do You Buy In A Year?
"New" isn't really helping.
Re: Nintendo Goes Full Pixar In Strange New Animated Short Film, 'Close To You'
@Ogbert I like your Galaxy Rosalina take.
Re: Hori's New Switch 2 Pad Lets You Lock The Home And Capture Buttons
Re: Opinion: Sonic Racing Crossworlds > Mario Kart World, And It's Not Even Close For Me
@PJOReilly If you want a fun Kart game that looks great on PS5, also available on Switch 2, and iPad (haven't played it on either) and is free-to-start which is basically a demo, Disney Speedstorm has both MKW and Sonic Crossworlds beat for me.
No cost.
Re: WWE 2K25 'John Cena Farewell Tour' DLC Out This Month
Does the pack include 3 dozen young children crying in the background as Cena gets torn to shreds by Lesnar? Like Paper Mario, but more upsetting. π
Sorry, my wife is still mad about the kids from the other night. They seemed legitimately scarred for life. I think wrasslin is doing a USA storyline now where we all suffer and die. I prefer the 80s stuff. π
