Nintendo probably making as many as they can now while they still can, who knows what part of the supply chain AI data centers are going to mess up next.
Maybe they're manufacturer cut them a deal at 20 mil they weren't getting at 17 mil?
I've waited this long, I'll wait another couple of months to borrow the Blu-ray from my local public library.
I don't know how the rest of the world works, but if you're in the US go find out if you have a nearby public library. They're not just books anymore. Movies, video games, manga, it's great. 😁
This review, does not read great. 😢 Glad I never got eShop credit to buy it, seems like a good game to borrow for the weekend from the library just to check out but nothing worth owning.
This may have a good DX version on Switch 3 when they add co-op and some type of challenge mode, heck even fairly easy Captain Toad got some added stuff when it was ported from Wii U to Switch so it isn't out of the question, but this seems like what we thought it was. Great for those who want it. There's a reason Nintendo consoles are full of farming sims.
Plucky Squire made great use of the book idea, this seems like an early precursor tech demo for that. I highly recommend Plucky Squire for a little fun. Not sure how long this is but it's twice the price, so there's that.
Nice to see this game getting some marketing, was beginning to think Nintendo forgot about it.
Can anyone tell me why the prices on the right have US on top for Switch 2 and UK on top for eshop? Makes it a little difficult to read the comparison between the 2.
I'll probably borrow this 1 from the library, I doubt it's longer than I can play in a week.
So, was this person sending them the letters in English or did someone just think it was funny to translate some Japanese word into "thwarted"?
There's always 1 or 2 Japanese speakers in here, is "thwarted" a word in Japanese b/c it's barely a word in English outside of maybe some random cartoon villain in Underdog or Mighty Mouse.
Note to any future Luigis out there - If you're using the word "thwarted", you are indeed the bad guy.
Might be tempted to pick this up at Target if it winds up on the end cap at half price with the dozens of other amiibo lately, mostly Street Fighter but I haven't wanted any of those.
But I don't even preorder games 4 months out, certainly not pre-ordering an amiibo. The video did remind me I should play the mosuo game at some point though.
I thought "Nintendo Store" was the name of the physical store locations, the online store was called Nintendo eshop and the My was only used for My Nintendo Rewards, so I'm not even sure what My Nintendo Store this is even referring to, so I don't think that I'll miss it. I don't even really use MNR anymore since my last big batch of like 1,600 Plat coins expired.
If it wasn't for this article I very possibly would have never ever even noticed.😂
I remember that. It was Reggie I think during E3. He was telling everyone how amiibo were going to be better than all the other toys to life b/c those toys only worked in 1 game, which I don't think was ever actually true, but you could buy 1 amiibo and then use it in multiple games. They Nintendo launched at least a dozen Link for us to buy, and I don't think they all work the same in all the Zelda games.😝
Starfox was 1 of tye first amiibo I bought, as a gift for 1 of my kids. Probably won't be playing Starfox so doesn't really matter to me though. I do have the Star link Arwing if they want to add that as well for me also not to use. Though maybe I'd borrow it from the library if that did something cool.
@breach187 @Broch83 You 2 replying to me back to back with similar names and the default avatar was pretty funny. 😂
In store demo kiosks are fine. It's a great way for people who don't yet own the system to try out a game they may want to buy the system for. But if you went to all the trouble to make a demo for your game, why not also put it on home consoles?
I'm currently on the fence for Yoshi, looks like a lot of puzzle exploring, not so much platforming, but a demo could put me over the edge if I have fun playing it.
Maybe Nintendo will have another Direct soon - they technically called Starfox a Direct - or maybe they'll just keep dropping trailers on their app, but either way, by September the latest, they will have 1 or 2 more 1st party games for the fall and holiday. Remakes, remasters, $80 ports, I don't know, but some more fames for the holidays.
I feel like a new Paper Mario is due, and they only seem to announce those a few months before release, so it's possible. Probably not a "heavy hitter", but a game. I have no use for Fire Emblem myself but I know most do.
I'm not sure $50 will make a big difference in the US. It's $499 now if the get the MKW bundle, so it's the same price minus the "free" MKW. If it had been $399 w/o MKW then went up to $499 I think that would have caught people's attention more. But $449 to $499 probably isn't going to stop anyone if they really want one thus holiday.
I do think they could get a few extra sales over the summer from gamers who really pay attention to this stuff, but for parents I don't think it matters all that much. Where I live $50 difference in price is basically the tax on $500. Tax is tax.🤑
No amiibo chips is odd. Yoshi had a huge plush for anyone thinking amiibo are only small hard plastic. They should let our Arwing from that other space toys to life game work in this game.
Saw this multiple times on Bluesky, thought it was some kind of AI art joke meme trend, came here to check it out.
I'll let you all talk about Starfox, not my kinda game, but announcing a Direct 10 minutes before you show it in an app on a random Wednesday afternoon, what are they even doing? I get wanting to promote the app, that's fine, but 10 minutes notice is barely enough time for new comers to download the app after they hear about the Direct, that's jyst stupid. At least give 24 hours notice so people can find out about the app and let the viral hype do it's thing. Who are these people? Nintendo Logic still baffles me.🤪
Switch 2 price increase seems inevitable. How many price cuts did the Switch get over it's 8 years? I recall it launching at $299, and then staying at $299 for 8 years. So if the Switch didn't get any price cuts while we were dealing with COVID and they were launching a new console then the Switch 2 is certainly getting a hike during this inflationary period.
Yes I know Switch Lite was only $199 but that was a Lite, not a Switch, it didn't even switch. And it stayed at $199 the whole time. The 2DS dropped at least 2x, from I believe $179 to $149 to $99, or there abouts.
The last Switch remodel, OLED, actually raised the price of a years old console $50 in the US to $350.
So while I do think the Switch 2 will get a cheaper Lite for $299 the Switch 2 will be $499US sooner or later.
I'm not happy about it, but it seems as inevitable as inevitable can be. 🤑
AC:NH in their celebrating it's 6th anniversary (yippie for COVID flashbacks) is a weird way to celebrate a sort of new console.
Does anyone still care about MP4?
Edit: Oh wow, that trailer is so much suck. Magnetic controllers that snap on. THAT'S your big selling point. People are most likely either playing it handheld or on TV, no one's cares about your SNAP.🤣
And a big ugly camera you probably aren't using in handheld mode and there's a USB-C port right there on the top for a camera to go. Didn't GB or DS have 1 of those. Didn't 3DS have a camera built in?
People don't buy consoles for the hardware, they buy it for the games. Promoting the big ugly back stuff while relegating the games to the background is just stupid.
Nintendo should cancel their paid subscription to whatever lame AI created this garbage. It's horrible.😝
@metaphysician Well it's probably rare these days for it to end there. Now after they say "I can't do that it's illegal" they probably continue with "but let's say, for the sake of argument, I was willing to do this thing we both know is illegal, what are you going to do for me in return?" 😝
@DollyrotsFan1 "It is a shame things aren't the same over in the US for you."
Of all the things it's a shame they're like that right now in the US, retailers all having an item at the same MSRP is very far down the list. Maybe hopefully some day it will move back up the list, if we last long enough. 😩
@DollyrotsFan1 In the US the prices are fairly uniform across all retailers, in store and online. Walmart has physical Yoshi for $50 instead of $60, which matches the digital price, but there really is the variance in price in the US that you find in other countries. The price is the price.
Yoshi for us. Though my kids said we don't need it day 1, too much else to play, but since it will still be full price 5 years from before getting 30% off in a Mario Day sale in 2031 might as well get it now. Though I am waiting for another eShop credit sale first to pick up Splatoon Raiders as well.
I haven't seen Galaxy yet but just rewatched the first movie in preparation for it and they did spend a lot of time with the DK world so an expansion of that makes sense. Plus the game and the theme park.
DK is certainly more of a brand than Pikmin or Starfox, people know DK since the 80s arcade game and rap song, nostalgia sells.
Could be good, could be the Rock "Doom" movie (I think he was still "the Rock" back then) but wearing the suit. Probably Doom.😩
I would like to see how they handle her morph ball form. I'm guessing she kind of squats down and generates a force field around herself and rolls like in a Monkey Ball game. Otherwise everyone would be asking "Why isn't she dizzy from spinning around"? They use it exactly once just for fan service.
I'll watch it. I don't think it will be like any game but they will let her fight metaridley, it will be worth it for that. I've seen the awful Monster Hunter and Borderlands movies, it will be much better than either of those. Can't be worse.
Seems soon, but maybe their hope is people see the $29.99 price and decide to go see it in a theater instead.😂
I'll probably wait until my library has a copy on the shelf like I did with the first movie. Going to pick up Days of Future Past again this week b/c the library has the Rogue cut but Disney+ doesn't.
Good to read that the creatures carry over between levels, my family isn't really fans of the "one and done" approach of games that limit items to 1 area before moving on to the next.
We're all currently watching my wife play Echoes of Wisdom and this sounds more like that than I would have expected from a Yoshi 2D platformer.
The slower paced puzzle nature of this seems a decent match up w/ the frantic shoot em up nature of Splatoon Raiders.
If I remember correctly picked it up for about $10 at Toys R US, may have been during their going out of business sale. I played a level or 2. My kid finished Guard and enjoyed it so we kinda got our money's worth I suppose.
Better than Animal Crossing amiibo Festival, also TRU clearance for like $5.
I want it, but I do need to see more to convince me it isn't just stand alone dlc. $50 is a nice price, but not if it's only a single player 8 hour story with limited replay value. On the flip side, if it's all replayable b/c it's a rogue like I'm not a fan of that either. I can live with a limited story like DKB. When I first saw this last year it reminded me of Jak and Daxter, which had a story, but despite it being 1 of my favorite games of all time, I can't recall what it was.
Hopefully enough for day 1. I may even hold off on Yoshi for this, still seems like I need to learn more about that game as well.
Have been looking forward to this since the announcement. Thought it looked like a sequel to the original Jak & Daxter, minus Daxter, but this video made it look like a reskinned God of War 2018, which is just hilarious, and now I want God of War with these graphics. 🤣
$50 is nice but I’ll need to know more. I don’t play anything rogue like or lite, repetition just isn’t my thing. This looks like it could be laid out like Astrobot, which I just finished and it was great, but fairly short. Which is always a trade off with not making games repetitive.
Never been much of a Treehouse guy but this game could probably use it. I mean sure we all know salmon run but how does that work over a full game. And is the multiplayer story mode or an add on battle mode? Split screen or 1 screen?
If it’s good it’s 3 days after my birthday so that’s sorted, but if it’s short I may be waiting years for a sale. Which will give time for all the probable dlc to release. See DKB Emerald Isle.
If it's more like Mario Party I'm out but if it's more like Nintendo Land I'm in. I enjoy little minigames with my family but not the bored game part. (pun intended)
I saw the title and thought this was about Nintendo's wheelchair basketball game. I think that had an update once.
Did they ever update Welcome Tour? Maybe when they raise the Switch 2 price they can add a section about how to pay for it. Switch 2 Lite should get it's own dlc anyway to cover all the ways it doesn't "switch". It would look funny holding the entire Switch 2 Lite in mouse mode though.😂
@KoopaTheGamer "Wii U made it work since it was a custom solution"
A custom solution that Nintendo made 15 years ago. They couldn't come up with a new and improved dongle tech in 15 years?
"sometimes losing signal only a few meters away."
How far away do you sit from your TV where more than a few meters isn't enough?
"stream 4k image to a TV"
Are a lot of Switch 2 games 4k? I thought they were mostly upres lower resolution stuff. I think even a lot of PS5 games are still 1080p in performance mode. I'd accept 1080p wireless.
I know latency is always a concern w/ hard-core gamers, my kid won't even use a wireless controller, but wireless HDMI tech has been a thing for awhile now, I feel like Nintendo could have figured it out.
And even if they didn’t, just an a mini-hdmi port to the Switch 2. Or sell this.
@Superick Maybe the Switch 2 dock has a fan b/c Nintendo decided the dock needs a front panel to hold the heat in and a back panel to hold the heat in and an ethernet port which probably also generates a little heat?
The whole idea of a dock in 2025 still seems off to me. The Wii U Gamepad let you play on it sending the game from the console to the screen. Seems only logical if they put the Wij U console in your hand as a Switch it could wirelessly send the picture to a dongle hooked up to your tv.
But ok that was almost a decade ago, tech has advanced. Did the Switch 2 need a dock? This device means obviously not. But should it even need a wire? I play my $350 iPad (A16 11th gen whatever it's called) on my TV wirelessly. No dangle. Smart tvs with Airplay just accept it. I use my PS5 controller on Bluetooth b/c games aren't meant to be played with a touchscreen.
So if an Apple iPad can play wirelessly on a TLC why can't Switch 2 play to a dongle?
I'm very impressed Nintendo is still able to sell all 4 different hardware Switch in Japan at the same time a year after the Switch 2 launched. I figured Lite would stick around for a few years until we get a Switch 2 Lite, but I assumed either the OG or OLED would go away. The OLED must cost almost as much as the region locked Japanese only Switch 2.
I'll watch it, and MK2, on streaming. Still need to watch Minecraft and Kraven but if it's a video game or comic book based movie I'm going to watch it. I'm like the guy in Dirty Harry who gets asked "Do you feel lucky, punk?" and then the punk says "I gots to know." 😂
Yeah copying the name and the graphics has to be over the line. Palworld is a different game. But the real game isn't Nintendo so I suppose they only care about the money. 🤑
My post from when PS had this article 18 hours ago:
Microsoft is going to simultaneously stop making hardware and stop releasing their games on other consoles. They will rename their entire Xbox division "Schrodinger's Cat Games". 🤣
If they can release it near the movie that's probably a plus, today is the first I can recall reading about it. When I saw the post earlier today on bluesky I thought the movie had been delayed.
I'm still looking forward to trying thus out but as @squiddu-real pointed out I've read it's more difficult than it looks, so I may gave to pass. Who knows though, maybe I'll surprise myself.
I'm still looking forward to this one. Knowing that it's going to Netflix after it's theatrical run makes me that more likely to see it in theaters. We can probably expect another NF price hike, or 2, by the time this reaches streaming. 🤑
I wonder where Mario Galaxy is going? Maybe I should go see that in a theater as well.

Re: Rumour: Genshin Impact's 'HoYoverse' Account System Supposedly Adds Switch Support
Hoyoverse on Switch 2 would be a nice get, and probably make Sony nervous, at least in Japan.
If Switch 2 could get those games and finally Call of Duty it might help mitigate the lack of GTA6 later this year.

We're all currently watching my wife play Echoes of Wisdom and this sounds more like that than I would have expected from a Yoshi 2D platformer.
The slower paced puzzle nature of this seems a decent match up w/ the frantic shoot em up nature of Splatoon Raiders.
Re: Talking Point: Star Fox Zero Is 10 Years Old - Have You Actually Played It?
If I remember correctly picked it up for about $10 at Toys R US, may have been during their going out of business sale. I played a level or 2. My kid finished Guard and enjoyed it so we kinda got our money's worth I suppose.
Better than Animal Crossing amiibo Festival, also TRU clearance for like $5.
Re: Talking Point: So, What Are Your First Impressions Of Splatoon Raiders?
Re: Splatoon Raiders' Switch 2 Price And Box Art Have Been Revealed
Should have purchased the $100 eShop credit on Newegg for $85 for this and Yoshi. Oh well, maybe next time. They have Xbox credit today.
Re: Splatoon Raiders Is Alive, And It's Out This Summer On Switch 2
Re: Sanrio Party Land Announced For Switch 1 & 2, More Sanrio Games Teased
If it's more like Mario Party I'm out but if it's more like Nintendo Land I'm in. I enjoy little minigames with my family but not the bored game part. (pun intended)
Re: Ball X Pit's Second Free Content Update Arrives Next Week, Here's What's Included
Re: Ditch The Dock With Brook's New Switch 2-Compatible HDMI Converter
Re: Ditch The Dock With Brook's New Switch 2-Compatible HDMI Converter
Re: Telltale Brings Five-Chapter Sci-Fi Adventure 'The Expanse' To Switch
I'm tempted just for Drummer. #beltalowda4life
Re: Fortnite's 'Save The World' Mode Goes Free-To-Play, Now Available For Switch 2
Thanks for the update. I knew it was coming up this month but didn't remember the date. 👍
Re: Japanese Charts: Combined PS5 Sales Can't Even Beat Switch Lite
I'm very impressed Nintendo is still able to sell all 4 different hardware Switch in Japan at the same time a year after the Switch 2 launched. I figured Lite would stick around for a few years until we get a Switch 2 Lite, but I assumed either the OG or OLED would go away. The OLED must cost almost as much as the region locked Japanese only Switch 2.
Like I said, quite a feat.
Re: The Street Fighter Movie Somehow Looks Both Terrible And Amazing
I'll watch it, and MK2, on streaming. Still need to watch Minecraft and Kraven but if it's a video game or comic book based movie I'm going to watch it. I'm like the guy in Dirty Harry who gets asked "Do you feel lucky, punk?" and then the punk says "I gots to know." 😂

Re: 'Hytale' Dev Seeks Legal Action Against Knock-Off Switch eShop Game
Yeah copying the name and the graphics has to be over the line. Palworld is a different game. But the real game isn't Nintendo so I suppose they only care about the money. 🤑
Re: Xbox Is Reportedly Having "Very Big Discussions" About Exclusivity
@Maxz Well Felix the Cat is a wonderful cat, so they'd have that going for them. 😂
Re: Xbox Is Reportedly Having "Very Big Discussions" About Exclusivity
My post from when PS had this article 18 hours ago:
Microsoft is going to simultaneously stop making hardware and stop releasing their games on other consoles. They will rename their entire Xbox division "Schrodinger's Cat Games". 🤣
Re: He-Man's Stunning-Looking Beat 'Em Up Delayed Just Two Weeks Before Release
If they can release it near the movie that's probably a plus, today is the first I can recall reading about it. When I saw the post earlier today on bluesky I thought the movie had been delayed.
Re: "What's This Stupid Thing?" – How One Silly Idea Became The Jet Set Radio-Inspired Denshattack!
I'm still looking forward to trying thus out but as @squiddu-real pointed out I've read it's more difficult than it looks, so I may gave to pass. Who knows though, maybe I'll surprise myself.
OK time to go download the demo.

Re: The Legend Of Zelda Live-Action Movie Has Officially Wrapped Filming
I'm still looking forward to this one. Knowing that it's going to Netflix after it's theatrical run makes me that more likely to see it in theaters. We can probably expect another NF price hike, or 2, by the time this reaches streaming. 🤑
I wonder where Mario Galaxy is going? Maybe I should go see that in a theater as well.
