Re: Switch F2P 'The New Denpa Men' Is Getting A Switch 2 Version Next Week

rjejr

I, kind of remember, this being announced. I don't recall ever thinking about downloading it after that though, even though it does kind of look like a fun little free time waster.

These free to play games usually get updated regularly, gotta go see what's what.

I remember that Pokémon Quest game getting released with a small island and a handful of Pokémon and it was just begging for continuous updates but the last I checked it never got a single one. Maybe it will get a Switch 2 update some day.😂

Edit - Just reread every article on this game, well OK not the guide, and yes it is a game that released. I may try it out. Pretty sure antimatter still isn't.🤣

Re: So, Will you Be Watching The Super Mario Galaxy Movie?

rjejr

I was going to go see it in theaters but then Nintendo Life ruined it by showing me a picture of a popular movie poster Nintendo released so no. 😉

Seriously though maybe yes maybe no depends on our schedule. My kids are going to see it Thursday night. I live in NY, it's a lot of $ for a 96 minute cartoon. Maybe next week while I'm in Michigan visiting family, probably cheaper there. 🤷‍♂️

Re: "We Have Begun R&D" - Crimson Desert Dev Shows Interest In A Switch 2 Port

rjejr

@DennisReynolds "the Switch 2 will struggle"

I guess the way I see it is if a company is making a multiplatform game they want to run on Xbox Series X/S, PS5 and PC, then they could also probably get it to run on Switch 2.

Now if it's a 1st party studio making a game specifically for X/S then they're probably going to have it cut close on S, maybe so close it can't then run on Switch 2. But for a 3rd party needing to cover so many devices from the start, I feel like someone could get it there, if they really wanted to.

I'm sure there are exceptions but I feel it's more true as a rule than trying to get 3rd party stuff running on Switch.

Will Crimson Desert make it? I don't know, but maybe the PS5 price increases will motivate them a little more.😎

Re: PS5 Gets An Insane Price Increase – Will Nintendo Follow Suit?

rjejr

After spending about 7 years reading and writing about the Switch Pro that never ever released, well maybe the $900 PS5 Pro will stop all talk of a Switch 2 Pro before it ever starts.

I mean seriously there must have been like a dozen Switch Pro articles on here over the tears. Never happened.😂

Nintendo does need a $299 Switch 2 Lite for Pokémon in 2027 though. Maybe in time for Christmas for the kiddos. 🎄

Edit: Wow. There were so many Switch Pro articles on NL over the years I'm not even going to count them. So please let's not ever start down that road again.😝

Re: "We Have Begun R&D" - Crimson Desert Dev Shows Interest In A Switch 2 Port

rjejr

At this point I'm pretty much of the mindset that if a game can run on Xbox Series S that it can be made to work on Switch 2, I really don't think the gap between them is too wide to cross. We've seen enough games like Cyberpunk, which the PS4 couldn't really run, come to Switch 2, that I think Series S is the real comparison for what can and can not work on Switch 2.

Not saying it's easy, may made a team dedicated to Switch 2 ports to pull it off, I'm just saying Switch 2 tech itself is probably close enough to Series S to make it happen if a dev team were really determined.

I think the reason Microsoft will have a new console out next year, way before Sony, is to get the Series S albatross off of their necks. MS can just say Helix games may run on Series X but not S, hence not breaking their promise of splitting their "last gen" base.

Then once games are Helix and PS6 only then Switch 2 may have a problem with ports, but not before then. They have a couple of years left, at least.

Re: Talking Point: Should Nintendo Have Kept The Mario Galaxy Movie Fox Reveal Under Wraps?

rjejr

Good article. People are nuts.

If people want to be mad about a spoiler be mad at Nintendo for putting out the poster. This website is NINTENDO Life, it is literally their job, their duty, their reason for being, to report on what Nintendo does. If they didn't cover the movie poster they are not doing their jobs.

You might as well say everything this website does is a spoiler then. Every time they cover anything Nintendo does - announce a new game, movie, hunk of overpriced plastic - it's a spoiler b/c you didn't want to know about it until you saw it yourself. Puh-lease.😂

When the post credit scene w/ Sonic gets revelesed shortly after midnight next Tuesday THEN you can all lose your minds. 😉

Re: Round Up: The Reviews Are In For Super Mario Bros. Wonder On Switch 2

rjejr

$80.

I'm old enough to remember when people were mad about games going from $50 to $60.

And very mad from $60 to $70 not that long ago.

But Nintendo drops a 2 1/2 year old $60 game for $80, and not a peep. 🤑

Yeah I know there's some added content, but was MK8DX $80 on Switch after Wii U w/ all it's added content?

Yes, Sony has done it as well going from PS3 and PS4 to PS5 games, but their fan base usually says something if the price is high. And I can't recall any of those being $80.

Re: Round Up: The Final Previews Are In For Tomodachi Life: Living The Dream

rjejr

@Ogbert I was thinking about the timing of this so close to million seller Pokopia but I suppose it's on the Switch with its 150 million install base and Pokopia as far as I can tell is a Switch 2 exclusive with it's currently much smaller install base.

Why Pokopia couldn't run on Switch I don't know, but it does leave Tomodachi some room to sell.

I mean I personally still think the timing is bad, but it could still sell well enough. Doesn't look like a $200 million investment.

Re: Hello Kitty Island Adventure Is Getting Brand-New DLC Next Month

rjejr

Wait, is this new new or the area I played in the Apple Arcade version like 6 months ago? The $40 Switch version can't be 6 months behind the Apple Arcade version can it?

Edit: Just did my own research and Switch does seem way behind Apple. I know it released later just thought they'd be more evenly released by now.

Re: Minecraft Dungeons II Announced For Switch 1 & 2, Out This Year

rjejr

Played the first game on PC with my kids. 2 of us used controllers and 1 used keyboard & mouse, huddled around our little PC monitor. Pretty sure we finished a play through, maybe 6-8 hours, we only played it after school for a couple of days. Don't think any of us would have purchased it so I'm guessing it was on Gamepass.

My kids are probably too old for this know but who knows.

Re: Investor Who Urged Nintendo To Monetise Mario's Jumps Acquires Shares In Kadokawa

rjejr

Maybe they'll try to do something in the anime space to go up against Sony which seems to basically have a monopoly now in the US.

Not sure how you apply microtransactions to physical books so hopefully they just leave that part alone.

Games. Well what part of gaming these days doesn't seem to be on the decline? AAA games take like 3-5 years, up to a decade even, hardware is getting expensive, AI is taking jobs, games release buggy, prices day 1 and every day after are rising.

Whatareyagunnado?

Re: Splatoon 3 Is Getting A Fresh New Update, Here Are The Full Patch Notes

rjejr

@citizenerased Thanks for the reminder. Just checked and Side Order isn't on NSO+, just the dlc for Splatoon 2, which we don't own. $25 seems like a lot for dlc. I regret buying S3 digitally, never really played it all that much. And I skipped 2 after getting burned out on 1. We do have NSO+ but currently not using that too much either, though I do want to play Wario.

I just clecked on the article b/c I thought Nintendo was finally giving us more info on Splatoon Raiders, which I think is due out this year but they've only shown it once. That 1 looks like a nice Jak & Daxter or Ratchet & Clank single player game, but I would like to know more.

Re: Yoshi And The Mysterious Book Estimated File Size And Price Seemingly Revealed

rjejr

20GB seems really big for a game that looks like this. Maybe later in the game you find a record player to keep the book company and the game includes high quality versions of songs from every Yoshi game ever made?🤷‍♂️

I'm guessing the game is $60 so when they announce the $20 dlc at not E3 in June the whole game will be $80 to match other Switch 2 game prices.

Wish I was joking but DKB has $20 Emerald Island announced soon after release and that was a $70 game to begin with. So maybe Yoshi will get minigame multiplayer similar to SM Wonder.

I really want this but will wait for reviews unless I find a good deal. I miss the days when retailors dud pre-order discounts.🤑

Re: Super Mario Bros. Wonder - Switch 2 Edition Gets A New Overview Trailer

rjejr

My family got this game day 1 and played it then. Feels like it's been a while, don't think we need to go back to it for this.

We're all watching my wife play Echoes of Wisdom now. It had a free update for better graphics for the Switch 2. I'm not sure how much better it is on Switch 2 b/c we never played it on Switch but it was a free upgrade so why not. Diorama graphics are nice and it runs well enough for a game like this.

Re: Yoshi And The Mysterious Book Lands Switch 2 Release Date

rjejr

Just watched the trailer, looked nice, but really not feeling the game play. I like exploration, but what little they showed makes it look like every books chapter is just a tutorial for a new gimmick but we don't get a larger story where we can choose between the different gimmicks to play as we like.

Hopefully I'm wrong and like the first 6 chapters of the book are the new learning tutorials and the last 6 we get to actually play the game as we like. If each chapter is just a tutorial with no overarching big storyline gameplay I'll probably skip it.

Hopefully this was just a tutorial trailer and we'll get a full blown game trailer in the weeks ahead. I really want to like it and play it, but not if this is the whole game.

Re: Pokémon Pokopia For Switch 2 Receives A Day One Update

rjejr

@Friendly Thanks. I saw that. And I thought of you, that yoh were right about no Direct until June, and I'm kinda bummed about that. But at least we get Yoshi in May, only a couple of more months now.

I'm currently about 60% through Astrobot and it really is just a Nintendo game in beautiful 4k HDR. Looking forward to this one when I'm done. I'm only playing Astrobot now b/c I waited a year for it to go on sale for half price. Yoshi will never ever be more than 40% off, in like 5 years, so might as well get it day 1.

Re: Blue Prince's Excellent Mansion Mystery Arrives On Switch 2 Today

rjejr

@AJWolfTill Not sure there is 1 game we're all looking forward too, our interests and tastes vary too much, but had the Direct ended w/ today's announcement of the Kena port we all would have been excited. 1 of my kids enjoyed it and my wife watched me play. Really looking forward to the sequel. Kind of feels like it should have been in there, no? 🤷‍♂️

We also would have been excited for Clair Obscur. My wife and I watched my other kid play and we enjoyed it so much I want to play it myself, if only to see what a normal play through looks like. My kid played on hard and didn't use any items, basically 1 hit kill or be killed. PC gamers be like that I guess. 😂

Mostly I suppose we like our indies to look more like AA or AAA games. 😁

Re: PlayStation Indie Hit 'Kena: Bridge Of Spirits' Is Headed To Switch 2 Soon

rjejr

@larryisaman " I ended up putting the difficulty down to get through it"

Everyone keeps talking about how difficult this game was but I didn't remember that, but I do know I borrowed it from my local public library, which means I have a week to play it, which means I had it on easy from the start. I do remember it being good though, if a little short. But short is good when you borrow it from the library.

The sequel looks really good, a much expanded adventure, so I'll probably be buying that one. Hopefully it won't take 5 years to come to Switch 2.

Re: Pokémon Pokopia For Switch 2 Receives A Day One Update

rjejr

@Markatron84 Yeah mostly that. It’s funny b/c w/ NintnedoI don’t think of “exclusives” b/c all of their first party games tend to be exclusive by default, so I just think of “Nintnedo made games”. Of which they surely have a big 1 or 2 for the Switch 2 second holidays they’ll want to show off soon. I mean hopefully they dont make us wait until June. They’ve got a rhythm going right now, why ruin it?

@PlatinumTour Yeah that, thanks. 😁 (To be fair I always forget about Fire EMblem b/c it isn’t my thing, but if it is coming out soon I think they need to show off more of that in a Direct as well.)

@ShadLink I never said Nintnedo was doing nothing. I acknowedge they have doen all the stuff you said, which means nwo it’s time for a Direct. This month or next month. I dont think they’ll wait until Geoff’s “not E3” w/ Yoshi having a “spring 2026” release date. And I think Yoshi is too big orthem tojust have a trailer dropped on YT W/ a date at the end, they’ll want toshow it off in a Direct.

@Zeroo Nintendo hires a lot fo peopel to make a lot of games. Nobody at Nintendo is making any of the game syou just listed. And probably none of those gmes would show up n a Nintendo Direct. Well except Pokopia, whcih come sout this week, which had liek 2 full blown long trailers. But after that releases they’ll want to tell us about other games Nintnedo is making.

@Friendly “ Yoshi in May “

Well heare’s the thing though, Yoshi isn’t dated for May. It’s not dated at all beyond “spring 2026” and spring starts in like 2 weeks. So while yes they could just drop a trailer on YT w/ a date at the end I thnk they’ll want a Direct for Yoshi.

And Mario Wonder isn’t a new game, we own it, just some dlc. Peopel don’t buy new $450 consoles just for dlc. DLC is fine, but they still need new games. I like the look of Monster Hunter Storeis 3 but that’s Capcom, or at least the man series is, not 1 of Nintendo’s many dev groups.

Im fine with a Direct in April except that probably means Yoshu isn’t May, they’ll want a couple of months to promote that game I think.

So let’s see, thats 2 basically in agreement and 3 not so much. W/ myself included I’m going to call it a draw. 😂

Re: Blue Prince's Excellent Mansion Mystery Arrives On Switch 2 Today

rjejr

@AJWolfTill Watched the Indie Direct w/ my family last night. Both my kids had heard of it, but both said they wouldn't play. 1 said they don't like the puzzle aspects and 1 said they don't like the rogue aspects. My wife suggested they each play the half they like - yes we've actually done that before - but they both said they knew enough about the game to say that wouldn't work, the 2 parts are too intertwined.

Nothing about my post looks objectively wrong to me though, more subjective than anything. 😂

Re: Pokémon Pokopia For Switch 2 Receives A Day One Update

rjejr

I'm glad this game is finally releasing b/c it basically forces Nintendo's hand to put out a full Direct b/c they really don't have much dated left now. Yoshi is supposed to be spring and we haven't seen much, 1 trailer I think, same as we got fit Splatoon Adventure. Can't have a 2nd year $450 console and 2 games.

This game looks like it could be fun, but after ACNH and Hello Kitty I'm kinda burned out, and I'm not a Pokémon person.

Re: Nintendo Indie World Showcase March 2026: Every Announcement, Game Reveal, Trailer

rjejr

I gave it an 8. I may never play any of these, but after thinking - why are they wasting time w/ a 15 minute Direct? - they had several demos and games release today and a lot of the others were also reletaivly soon. Nice change from seeing a logo and then waiting years, and years, and years, to see anything else.

I also liked that several are co-op, couch and online, and at a variety of price points. Also they weren't all 8-big farming games like a lot of the Directs.

It was an enjoyable 15 minutes. That puppy game should not have been after dens attack though, the whip last nearly killed me.😂

Re: Pokémon Winds & Waves Will Be Released "Exclusively" For Switch 2

rjejr

@metaphysician I don't want it, I don't play my Switch 2 handheld as it is. But I know how Nintendo works - see 2DS tablet and Switch Lite - and I know how Game Freak tends to work - rushing games out yearly - so next year for a game in Switch 2s 2nd year seems like the perfect time for Switch 2 Lite to launch alongside the release of Pokémon W&W.

See also what @BrewsterTea said in post 83.

Nintendo has a year to figure out it, and I'm guessing they will.

Re: Pokémon Winds & Waves Will Be Released "Exclusively" For Switch 2

rjejr

@metaphysician They will have access to most of the parts b/c when Switch 2 Lite launches they can make less Switch 2. And they can and will probably stop making Switch and Switch Lite at some point so more manufacturing capacity opens up.

It's possible Switch 2 goes up in price, which is even more reason they need a Lite 2. I don't know much about die sizes but I know a Switch Lite 2 will NOT have a dock in the box, nor the Grip, nor an HDMI cable, nor the pair of straps. So that's a savings right off the top. And it won't need whatever magnets are holding the Joycon 2 on, or the mouse optic. The screen will be smaller, perhaps noticeably so if they make it Lite 1 size. Much smaller screen should mean slightly better battery life. And this being Nintendo I wouldn't be surprised it's just a Switch Lite like screen w/ no VRR or HDR. So hopefully with all that they can get it down to $299. I think that's the price they need to hit.

And if you look at the price of the region locked Japan only Switch 2 I think they'll find a way to make it work. Just in time for Pokémon Wind & Waves.

@Scoopz Well I don't think it's too soon, I think it's just about right, but it might feel too soon to be talking about it now. But Nintendo probably won't even mention it until after the holidays this year, so 2027 just before launch, whenever that is.

Re: Pokémon Winds & Waves Will Be Released "Exclusively" For Switch 2

rjejr

As I said earlier today on a previous article I do wonder if this is a 2027 game in part waiting for the Switch 2 Lite to launch? Pokémon has always hard a large following among kids buy that fairly big $450 Switch 2 isn't exactly backpack friendly. I think parents would be much happier buying their kids a $279 or $299 Switch 2 Lite for Christmas. I know it seems soon but it will likely be about 2 years after the Switch 2 launched. And it's probably only going to get more expensive, not cheaper.

Pokémon kind of needs a Lite.

Re: Pokémon Winds & Waves Announced For Switch 2, Launching Next Year

rjejr

@IronMan30 Maybe it's not releasing until 2027 b/c Nintendo told Game Freak that's when the $299 Switch 2 Lite would be launching?

I know most of the people on here are adults but Pokémon is still the game kids will want. But I'm not sure parents want their kids bringing their new $450 Switch 2 to school. And it's practically too big to fit in a backpack.

I think spring 2027 will be about the right time for a $300 Switch 2 Lite. Maybe $279 just to be different. Then they can bundle it with a Pokémon code for $349 if it's a $70 game.

Re: Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Team Consistently Aiming For 30fps On Switch 2 "Wherever Possible"

rjejr

@AussieMcBucket The 640x480 menu screen. 😂

I watched my kids play both Remake and Rebirth on PS4/5. The 2 are very different games. I didn't even really like Remake all that much, dragging out a 6 hour opening game section into like 30 hours of linear dungeon crawling. But Rebirth is this great big sprawling adventure. Sure it's got it's share of filler, but it's such a big game.

So while I never really doubted Remake on Switch 2, they really do have their work cut out for them for Rebirth.

Personally I'm fine w/ 30, but not 10 or 15 and choppy. Not a fan of looking like someone smeared Vaseline all over the lens either. I wish them well and the best of luck.

Maybe Squenix could hire all the fired Bluepoint devs to make it work? 🤷‍♂️
