I think Guielrmo Del Toro could do it justice, like an adult "Pan's Labrynth", with an emphasis on the weird creatures, less on the story.
Though not even he can save that flying whale creature final boss. That will 100% not be in the movie.ð

The last update should be either a $30 Player's Choice version of this decade old game or a Complete version for $60 on the cart. Oh sure, every Switch owner owns a copy now, but when parents can't afford a Switch 2 this holiday they could buy their young kid a Switch Lite and MK8DC for the holidays.
Smart move. But I also think they left some money on the table not holding off on MKW for a bit, maybe a year or so, launching w/ DKB, and bundling w/ MK8 Deluxe Complete. Sure it might have felt a bit insulting, but for even $70 w/ the full booster pass on cart, add in HDR, I think it would have sold. Not too mention a $10 upgrade patch just for HDR and a higher resolution for the 30 million people who own MK8. 30 million copies X $10 would cover the costs of adding HDR.
I still don't own MK8D b/c I own MK8 and my Wii U is still functional and hooked up to the TV, but I would have purchased MK8DC for $70, or$50 as a pack in, to own it all on cart.

I was a victim of Target's incompetence. They guy in chat did give me a $20 credit for my trouble but no secondary help securing a Switch 2. I registered with Nintendo and got the email a couple of days ago telling me they haven't forgotten about me but no chance to preorder.
I expect these problems with any console launch but I think Nintendo's pollyanaish "We have ways of having a smooth launch." should be side by side with Sony's "We know generations." nonsense.
One way to make the launch better, and maybe this is why it's worse in the US, make it illegal for the second hand market to sell things they don't own. I'm not talking about banning scalping, it's just capitalism, but you can't list something you don't own, and right now nobody owns a Switch 2, so there shouldn't be any listed. Even if you've already paid for your preorder you still don't have it in your possession, so how can you possibly sell it?
It wouldn't cut back on all of it, people would still buy it hoping to sell it, but maybe less of them?

I mean having a voice modulation simulator or whatever reading scripted lines of dialog in his Darth Vader helmet voice is 1 thing, but just letting some computer program run off at the mouth saying anything it wants to seems a bit bizarre. Is it promoting white genocide conspiracy theories like Grok? You'd think they could have easily programmed it not to curse or use slurs. There's probably less than 100 English words that would really get them in trouble.
Game key card should be written across the entire top of the box, and the box should be half sized like 3DS, but I'm not opposed to the idea. Hoping my library carries them. It doesn't carry codes.

I'm surprised to read some of these updates as I was playing the game on Apple Arcade and already had them. How did they release a game on Switch that already had the companion phone and furniture stacking in it already? We're they like, hey this game works too well, let's take some stuff out and make it less fun to play. ð

If Nintendo is setting aside 3GB of RAM for Gamechat, which includes both voice chat and video chat, rather than say 1GB for all the people who will use voice chat and 2GB for the few people who will use video chat, then they are doing it wrong. I can't imagine voice chat even uses that much more resources than an online multi-player game is already using. Setting aside screen real estate to show 4 different talking head 8fps live images I can certainly see being a drag though. Hence the 8fps.ð
Watching my kid play on their laptop, hooked up to my TV, w/ a PS5 controller, which they thankfully just added support for, and after about 14 hours we are all really enjoying it as my wife is watching as well. It does look really good but if my kids 2yr old laptop can handle it I think Switch 2 should be able to as well. If they can port it that would be great, nothing really like it on Switch. It does look and sound reminiscent of STeller Blade, plays very different, but since that isn't on Switch either it's all new to you.
Voice chat seems like something they should have had all along, but the $50 camera and it's 8 fps picture seems like something that will be headed towards landfills with minimal use after just trying it out.
If they really wanted people to use online video chat they should have built the camera into the Switch 2, like the Wii U Gamepad has. The top of the Switch 2 also is viewable while in the dock.
I do think people will pay for online for voice chat though, along with online gaming.

The images look fine to me in that they match. Which I suppose they would do if AI made them but it looks to me more like a style they were going for. Like someone said "Let's make these look like USA 1950s campy billboards."
Just my thoughts looking at them, I'm not running them through some pixel analyzer or anything.
Once was enough for me but I'm certainly looking forward to how well this game plays. If it's actually playable and not the refunded PS4 disaster it might be a game that gets other ervs to rake notice. While this may have launched on PS4 it crash and burning showed it's really not a last gen game.
This and Elden Ring. Which was a functional PS4 game but I think if it looks and plats well on Switch 2 that will help that it can play other 3rd party this gen games.
I don't think it really matters what Nintendo games look like, they don't release stuff broken. And nothing they do even remotely approaches photorealism. Still waiting on that 10 years of CoD Microsoft.ð

@HatesCheese But do they look $450 better though? I'm all for playing old games. I played FF7 in 1997 and I can assure anyone the remakes do look $450 better than the original game. But Switch games looking $450 better on Switch 2, for an extra $10 on top of that, an extra $20 for some of them. Is that what we're paying $450 for, to pay even more money to play the same games we already bought for $60 just a few years ago?
All I'm saying is I'd have different lists. Switch 2 exclusives as noted above, paid & free Switch ports, and games that Switch didn't get like Elden Ring and Cyberpunk. Which are a very big deal, especially for Nintendo only gamers, but a lot of us have already played them. And I've watched some videos. Cyberpunk and Elden Ring still look better on my years old $400 PS5 than they do on the Switch 2.
The 1 massive list is a bit misleading is all. Sony did the same thing w/ PS5, even after saying they "know generations". MS was at least up front about it, no next gen exclusives for you. And now they are porting all their games to Sony and Nintendo b/c surprise surprise people aren't buying expensive new consoles to play games they can or already have.
Nintendo will be fine, just wish the reporting was better. Some people are paying $3 a month now, they deserve more accurate representation.

That's what $450 gets you in 2025 as MP4 and Z-A are also on Switch. Better than PS5, certainly better than Series X/S maybe still, but a lot of the list is old ports. Good to have, the more the better, but ithat full long list seemed to not quite tell the story just right for a next gen $450 console.
I am holding out hope for more. Like @IronMan30 I think we could have an interesting June Not E3 Direct w/ a surprise drop or 2 for the holidays. Maybe a new Paper Mario or something similar. The holiday calendar seems light, and we really don't have much for 2026 either. Switch somehow never got Super Mario Galaxy 2, that needs to be corrected on Switch 2. After DK gets some breathing room.
If Nintendo is predicting 15 million sold in 10 months then I'm guessing that's how many they are planning on making. It's that simple. The world has over 8 billion people. For every person on here saying it won't sell that much b/c costs, power, games or whatever, there are a dozen people waiting to buy 1 regardless of all of those things b/c it's a better Switch. And after 8 years people really want a better Switch.

Removing that side piece seems pretty pointless, and as -wc- already pointed out you probably can't change the thumbstick base, but I could certainly see them selling different colored Joy Mouse strap attachhment colors. And if they are going to sell those anyway, which seems a given as I think even Switch let you buy those, then why not sell them as a 2 piece set in matching colors?

I don't know how much the screen, battery, dock and Joy mice cost, but if Nintendo could save $100 and pass it on, well $349 for an Nvidia Nintendo TV Shield could be a thing worth selling. After the $349 Switch Lite 2 of course. But before the $499 Switch OLED 2.

And what innovation were they looking for exactly? A poor selling lunch box that Nintendo had to drop the price to $99? A system w/ a 3D screen that Nintendo had to knock 1/3 off the price just months after launch? A screen in the controller that would become Nintendo's worst selling console b/c no one includes Virtual Boy?
Nintendo has had so much failure with innovation why risk more now when they have the best selling system of all time?

@HatesCheese Oh I would buy 1 anyway if given the chance, Target canceled my preorder and the Nintendo store won't let me, no email invite, but the launch window lineup isn't really looking all that great right now to me, I don't play PokÃĐmon or Metroid, but sure if you add all of those old games, ports, and paid upgrades it looks like the best launch ever. I suppose if I never owned a Switch or Sony console it would be great. But who's buying a $459 Switch 2 at launch who never owned a Switch? ðĪ·ââïļ

@HatesCheese But do they look $450 better though? I'm all for playing old games. I played FF7 in 1997 and I can assure anyone the remakes do look $450 better than the original game. But Switch games looking $450 better on Switch 2, for an extra $10 on top of that, an extra $20 for some of them. Is that what we're paying $450 for, to pay even more money to play the same games we already bought for $60 just a few years ago?
All I'm saying is I'd have different lists. Switch 2 exclusives as noted above, paid & free Switch ports, and games that Switch didn't get like Elden Ring and Cyberpunk. Which are a very big deal, especially for Nintendo only gamers, but a lot of us have already played them. And I've watched some videos. Cyberpunk and Elden Ring still look better on my years old $400 PS5 than they do on the Switch 2.
The 1 massive list is a bit misleading is all. Sony did the same thing w/ PS5, even after saying they "know generations". MS was at least up front about it, no next gen exclusives for you. And now they are porting all their games to Sony and Nintendo b/c surprise surprise people aren't buying expensive new consoles to play games they can or already have.
Nintendo will be fine, just wish the reporting was better. Some people are paying $3 a month now, they deserve more accurate representation.

That's what $450 gets you in 2025 as MP4 and Z-A are also on Switch. Better than PS5, certainly better than Series X/S maybe still, but a lot of the list is old ports. Good to have, the more the better, but ithat full long list seemed to not quite tell the story just right for a next gen $450 console.
I am holding out hope for more. Like @IronMan30 I think we could have an interesting June Not E3 Direct w/ a surprise drop or 2 for the holidays. Maybe a new Paper Mario or something similar. The holiday calendar seems light, and we really don't have much for 2026 either. Switch somehow never got Super Mario Galaxy 2, that needs to be corrected on Switch 2. After DK gets some breathing room.

If Nintendo is predicting 15 million sold in 10 months then I'm guessing that's how many they are planning on making. It's that simple. The world has over 8 billion people. For every person on here saying it won't sell that much b/c costs, power, games or whatever, there are a dozen people waiting to buy 1 regardless of all of those things b/c it's a better Switch. And after 8 years people really want a better Switch.

Removing that side piece seems pretty pointless, and as -wc- already pointed out you probably can't change the thumbstick base, but I could certainly see them selling different colored Joy Mouse strap attachhment colors. And if they are going to sell those anyway, which seems a given as I think even Switch let you buy those, then why not sell them as a 2 piece set in matching colors?

I don't know how much the screen, battery, dock and Joy mice cost, but if Nintendo could save $100 and pass it on, well $349 for an Nvidia Nintendo TV Shield could be a thing worth selling. After the $349 Switch Lite 2 of course. But before the $499 Switch OLED 2.
