@JimNorman Hey thanks. @SillyG There have been no amiibo-game bundles at all for Switch? I guess I never thought about it. We have like 50 amiibo, some still in their boxes, so I collect them a bit, but I guess you're right. Last bundle I bought, maybe the only 1, was amiibo Festival at Toys R US clearance for like $5. Which was about $4 too much.π I dud use a bunch of them in New Horizons though.
I guess it's too much work and not enough money. My wife who's in publishing is trying to produce a big book box set and she says it's a nightmare. Manufacturers just aren't set up for it. Then there are rights, licensing etc. Probably just eadier not to bundle them.
This game and this amiibo, releasing the same day, really would have been a nice bundle though. Maybe some store will knock $10 off the price if you buy both. Might even pick up this $30 amiibo for $20. It's my birthday present after all. π
@Wraggadam1 @Clark2k I like that they have these little "Let's give the kids something to do in the game." additions, but it isn't co-op to me. π€·ββοΈ Co-op is when my kids or my wife and I can pick up and play a game cooperatively and it doesn't really matter which player we are b/c we are both playing the game. If everything DK did in the game was controlled by the CPU (or AI I guess these days) and player 1 only played Pauline would you feel like you were playing the game or just watching and occasionally hitting a button?
If a game is advertised as 2 player co-op both should be playing somewhat equally. Otherwise it's just a bunch of people sitting around watching. It's false marketing. I know Nintendo has been doing this since at least SMG, so like 15yrs, so you'd think they could come up w/ a better name by now. They are calling "easy mode" assist. @sethfranum Those are the current prices currently by me in the Target by me, not the past. π€·ββοΈ
@JimNorman Can you help a fellow out. From the article:
"Pauline's attacks can be controlled in Mouse Mode, and you can even share locally to a Switch 1 system using GameShare β how neat!"
My understanding is Switch 2 Mouse Con don't connect to Switch, I'm guessing different Bluetooth protocols or some such, so how can player 2 use Mouse mode to control Paulina on the Switch using Gameshare? Or do Switch 2 Joycon work on Switch when using Gameshare? Would be nice but that isn't what I've read. I suppose a firmware update could fix it though. Maybe it's just a poorly worded sentence?
I was already looking forward to this game thinking it had potential but now it has GOTY potential for me. My favorite game all time is Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy and I've never found a decent successor despite all the sequels that game had, they were never the same. But this has potential. It's everything I want in a game. 3D. Collectibles. Some semblance of a story. Platforming. Voice acting. Violence. Random minigame distractions.
If it's long enough, and judging by everything we just saw it is, and plays well enough, which Nintendo is usually pretty good at, I don't see why this couldn't become an all time classic for me. And it releases 3 days before my 60th birthday. Yes I've been gaming a long time, since Pong.π
Reminded me of Dreams on PS4. Obviously not a full game like that but just the way they were adding material to the sculpture.
Not sure how much I'll use it personally but I really do like it as an addition. I like when things like this get added to games rather than games themselves. There were a couple of other things they added in here that I wouldn't buy as a game to play but as side distractions sure why not.
What's the price? Would pick it up for the normal $15.99 like most of the ones in my local Target. Maybe even $19.99 like the Guardian if it looked good enough. But the recent price hikes of $29.99 and $39.99 are insane. They should have bundled them with the game for an extra $15 since they're releasing the same day.
Can @NintendoLife do some work, after another 15 or so DKB articles, and find out if my DK amiibo from Sjylanders Superchargers is being supported? It's worked in some other games but it's not in the picture.π€·ββοΈ

It doesn't have to be 50-50, player 2 almost always has to sit out the first level or so,,like in Luigis Mansion 3, or just help fight, so 60-40 even 70-30 is fine. Ugh. I was hoping to see it. Thought it was today. Sitting on my couch scrolling through YouTube trying to find it, only to see "Starts in 24 hours". π
They gave us 2 days notice for a DK Direct but they just drtopped SPlatoon on us unannounced in an app. I could really use a little more consistency out of Nintendo.
I don't care what's in it, just wanted to see how it looked. May go back to bed.π΄
@Slideaway1983 I understood you correctly. Switch 2 dock (unless you were talking about Switch maybe) has 1 USB-C which is used for power and 3 usb-a and then made their camera USB-C so it can't be plugged into and of the 3 free usb-a ports on the dock. All they had to do was make 1 of the 2 USB-C powers on the outside of the dock USB-C and we could have avoided this entire conversation.
My kids think they nay have left the charger over their cousins house. They called their cousin and asked them to look for it but they said they couldn't find it. My kids aren't kids, 20 & 22, that's not something they would lie about.
You might be right about not using a Switch 2 charger w/ Switch. Once we have a Switch 2 I won't need it, and my kids don't play TV out, so they can figure it out.
@darkswabber Why do you think is Odyssey renamed to Expedition? The video at the top of the article ends with Lego Expedition next to Odyssey and Brick Life. You did watch the video before posting, right?π€·ββοΈ
Here's another article that goes into a little more detail.
@Slideaway1983 "and 2xUSB-A are out the side, same as OLED"
So if inside the dock there is an HDMI port next to 2 USB ports, 1 each of A and C, and outside there are 2 USB ports, wouldn't it have made sense for them to make 1 of those A and 1 C, especially since they knew they were making a camera that used C? Why does the dock need 3 A ports anyway? π€·ββοΈ
I'm not too flustered about the lost charger, once we get a Switch 2 we'll use that, so 1 charger for tv out should be enough for the other 2 old Switch which we can keep charging w/ our other chargers, just no TV out. Both my kids mostly play handheld anyway. I mean I'm not happy that we can't find the lost charger, but not spending money on a new one.π€
@Slideaway1983 Thanks. Guess that makes sense. We'll your explanation makes sense, not Nintendo doing it that way.π
We lost 1 of our 2 Switch chargers so we're trying out all the rest of the ones we have in the house, none of them worked BTW, but at one point we couldn't get TV out b/c my kid put the power in the TV USB, or the other way round I forget. Point is, while they are marked, it's black on black so hard to see. So Nintendo having a USB-C camera but no open USB-C port on the dock doesn't surprise me at all. They have a history of doing things like that. Nintendo Logic.π€ͺ
That boy was not cut out to be a delivery driver. Not b/c of throwing the package, anyone can do that, but the way he shuffles off like Jabba the Hut. π
Going to assume he's fired by now. Maybe that's what he wanted.π€·ββοΈ
Does the dock hold the Switch 2 tight enough to let me pop off the Joycon w/o taking it out of the dock? The joycon go on and off the Switch no problem while docked.
Poll says 9% don't have a Switch 2. Wondering how many of those are in the US, we seemed to have the biggest supply constraints.π«
@AmplifyMJ Is that you in your avatar? Don't think I've seen it before. I abandoned my Twitter account for BS so may have missed it, just saw the poster.π
Have people been playing this game so much already that they need to be able to drive 30 different carts from the get go or is there some great god Kart that you can only drive after unlocking the first 30?
I'm not saying 1 Kart is all I need but I feel like after only 5 days of playing 3 or 4 would still be enough. Unless there is some unbeatable invulnerable 100% victory flaming Bowser shell god Kart waiting for me, then yeah, maybe I'm in a rush.π
My overly excited overly optimistic brain is making this look like the first games in the Jak & Daxter and Ratchet & Clank series and I couldn't be happier. I've been waiting for a proper J&D sequel for 25 years.
This probably won't be anything like those 2 games, Nintendo will turn it into a farming Sim or something, but maybe, just maybe, this could be a really great 3D platforming adventure. Too bad it's only single player and not couch co-op but probably for the best they just focus on a great single player game to start .
DK Bananza already looked great but this has the potential to be my favorite Switch 2 game if they do it up right.π€
At this point I'm guessing MS put in some very fine print that reads "10 years of CoD on Nintendo consoles that also have Gamepass on them". Either that or just a Cloud version. π
Not that it matters, here in America it doesn't matter what powerful people do or say, no consequences. Even for flat out bold faced lies. I mean what's going to happen if CoD doesn't come to Switch 2, do you think they'll split up MS and Activision? Not gonna happen. Maybe a $1 mil fine, which might be cheaper than getting the game to run on Switch 2. π€
But if PS4 is getting it then surely Switch 2 can run it, see Cyberpunk, so maybe Nintendo just doesn't want it, or wants MS to pay them more than MS wants to pay? But hardware should not be a limitation for PS4 games.
Not a big fan of Intergrade, really the whole part 1, but getting part 1 means maybe part 2, which was really good and worth playing, and then maybe even part 3 which we've been told would be the last.
So while it's nice to be be coming it's only part 1 of 3. I'd wait until 2 & 3 are confirmed. Of course if too many people wait then we may not get 2 & 3, so it is a bit of a catch 22.π€ͺ
Might just be me but if I'm making what I hope to be a big successful movie of the summer blockbuster variety I'd much rather have it come out in May instead of March.
Also possibly related, 3 weeks ago Avengers Secret Wars got moved from May 7, 2027 to Dec 17, 2027.
@larryisaman I think Switch 2 will get it's share of 3rd party ports, but that's what they will be, ports, not day 1. Not for 2 or 3 years yet for the big AAA games. Here's why I think that is.
Switch 2 is basically a Switch Pro in my head, it's nothing new except a camera and mouse. So games like this, that take 3+ years to build, and were never intended for the Switch, so nobody started building them on the Switch, so it's not a simple matter to just move them to the Switch 2, they have to start from scratch. On dev kits they may have only had for a year or less.
PS5 and Xbox Series S/X have been on shelves for 4 years now, so devs have had the kits probably for 5 years. And like Switch to Switch 2 the Sony and MS consoles are also similar so devs who made last gen games on those had a simple ramp up to this gen, so like nearly 10 years of coding on those.
So sure, anything like Sonic Racing on Switch will also be on Switch 2 day 1, but anything this gen that was never considered for Switch is probably going to take awhile.
Switch eventually got games like Witcher 3, and Switch 2 got Cyberpunk so it may get Witcher 4 day 1 b/c of that, but I think the first year of Switch 2 is all about old game ports from last gen, not day 1 from this gen. Devs need time to code games they've been working on for years to unknown hardware. Maybe FF7 PT 3 can be day 1, still a few years out, parts 1 & 2 lead the way.
Remember 3 years ago when Microsoft signed a legally binding contract that Nintendo would get Call of Duty for 10 years so MS could buy Activision? Well we're 3 years into that, and still no sign. So if a legally binding contract isn't getting games to Switch 2 any faster what's the rush on the rest?
Edit: OK only 2 1/2 yrs ago, not 3, Phil said this in Dec 22.
I think Split Fiction was more an exception than the rule. And even that was a few months behind, so they had time to just work on the port. I'm not worried, early days. But I'll get back to you this time next year to see how I'm feeling then. π
@d-slice It comes w/ either 512GB (2x the Switch 2) or 1TB storage, so I'm assuming it's a standalone device, not the PS5 Portal.
My family watched the 10 minute video on YT last night. We mostly just made fun of the name.
1 thing I haven't seen mentioned anywhere by anyone yet, does it have TV out? I don't see why it wouldn't, USB-C works wonders, but if it doesn't it's not a Switch 2 competitor at all, it's a Switch 2 Lite competitor which will probably cost only 1/3 the price.
The Rog, like so many other non-Switch portables, are already a thing, so no reason for MS not to put this out there, but I'm not really sure how many it will sell. I feel like Xbox owners are the stay at home types, not the hanging out on the rooftops and playgrounds looking cool and drinking brews types, so they may scoff at this.
@AllBLK I'd guess money. Both the cost of putting it in and the loss of selling cameras.
But it could have been an online wifi issue, worrying about maintaining MKW and 4 player Gamechat.
Or they're saving it as a selling point for Switch Lite 2. If there's no TV out like Switch Lite then there really is no way they can expect people to use that big $55 camera w/ Switch Lite 2 so built in is the only way to go.
I agree with you Switch 2 should have a camera built in as much as they are promoting it, even requiring it for achievements in Welcome Tour, just guessing why it doesn't.
@LinktotheFuture "use a left Joy-Con 1 with a right Joy-Con 2"
How does someone use a Joycon 1 w/ a Joycon 2? To do what? What do the two Joycon do together w/o a Switch 2?
The article says they are using a Switch 1 Joycon w/ a Switch 2, which we already knew. The Switch 2 Joycon is irrelevant unless you think it's somehow newsworthy that the Switch 2 Joycon work w/ the Switch 2? π€·ββοΈ
You buried this way down at the end when it should have been in the title. π
"Eh...no. No, you cannot. Silly us."
Haven't we known literally for months now that Switch Joycon would work on the Switch 2? This article really only needed to exist if Switch 2 Joycon also worked on Switch, π€·ββοΈ
Wouldn't have this problem if they launched a Switch 2 Home w/o a battery, screen or JoyMice. Could probably sell it for $299 and make extra sales from people who still want multi-player.
Would likely even sell more cameras to people who know it can always be used and connected. That big $55 camera for a handheld really makes no sense to me. If they want people to use Switch 2 as a handheld it should just be a small dingle that plugs into the top. The inevitable Switch 2 Lite really should have a camera built in.
I still wouldn't use a camera or a Lite but I would buy a Home Switch and give the original to 1 of my kids.
A PS5 comparison would be nice. I stopped playing it on Switch once the 5.1 update on PS5 went live. The PS5 version was already better than Switch before the update but they really stepped the graphics up a notch after that. I'm not even sure what Switch was running, 4.0 maybe, so I guess it's at least getting 5.0 now if not 5.1. A real next gen upgrade w/o a $10 upgrade charge.
I'll never use mouse mode though. If I wanted to do that I'd play on PC. I just play for fun though. Or sure winning is great, but I'm just killing time, not players.π
Haven't played it yet but glad to read this. When I read the headline this was the first thing that came to mind. Was already waiting to play it on Switch 2 but nice to see they added it to the Switch version as well and not make it next gen exclusive.
Wow, that list of Day 1 games kinda makes me glad Target canceled my preorder, pretty lame. And no Welcome Tour or Drive X Drive on the list, are they not day 1?
My wife's company said they'd give her one, but it may not be until next year when they can find one. Hopefully sooner than that, but I don't think I even need to worry about it until Donkey Kong.

Re: Review: Nintendo Switch 2 Camera - An Elegant But Nonessential GameChat Companion
Re: Review: Nintendo Switch 2 Camera - An Elegant But Nonessential GameChat Companion
Re: Review: Nintendo Switch 2 Camera - An Elegant But Nonessential GameChat Companion
Is there a USB port on the dock for it since I'd never use the camera handheld? Plugging it in the top seems unnecessary.

@AmplifyMJ Very nice.π I'm surprised you got to wear shorts in NY in April it feels like it's rained every day here since like March. You got lucky. Bonus not being kidnapped and sent to El Salvador.π©
Re: Random: Ouch! Switch 2 Owners Are Feeling The Pinch With The New Joy-Con
Does the dock hold the Switch 2 tight enough to let me pop off the Joycon w/o taking it out of the dock? The joycon go on and off the Switch no problem while docked.
Re: Poll: Are You Happy With Switch 2's Screen? Because Some People Certainly Aren't
I'd prefer no screen and saving $100.π€

Re: Mario Kart World Players Have Found A Really Easy Way To Farm Coins
Have people been playing this game so much already that they need to be able to drive 30 different carts from the get go or is there some great god Kart that you can only drive after unlocking the first 30?
I'm not saying 1 Kart is all I need but I feel like after only 5 days of playing 3 or 4 would still be enough. Unless there is some unbeatable invulnerable 100% victory flaming Bowser shell god Kart waiting for me, then yeah, maybe I'm in a rush.π
Re: Splatoon Raiders, A New Splatoon Spin-Off, Is Confirmed For Switch 2
Re: Yes, Call Of Duty Is Still On The Way To Nintendo Hardware
Re: Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade Scores Switch 2 Release Window
Not a big fan of Intergrade, really the whole part 1, but getting part 1 means maybe part 2, which was really good and worth playing, and then maybe even part 3 which we've been told would be the last.
So while it's nice to be be coming it's only part 1 of 3. I'd wait until 2 & 3 are confirmed. Of course if too many people wait then we may not get 2 & 3, so it is a bit of a catch 22.π€ͺ
Re: The Live-Action Legend Of Zelda Movie Has Been Delayed, But Not By Much
Might just be me but if I'm making what I hope to be a big successful movie of the summer blockbuster variety I'd much rather have it come out in May instead of March.
Also possibly related, 3 weeks ago Avengers Secret Wars got moved from May 7, 2027 to Dec 17, 2027.

Re: Review: Survival Kids (Switch 2) - Konami's NS2 Debut Is Cosy, Competent, Kid-Friendly Co-op
$50? Yeah, no. Split Fiction is $50. I do not think this game compares favorably to that.
I'm not against the game, just the price. My wife and I had fun recently playing Cat Quest 3 which I got for $20, which seems closer to this game.
Can't fault them for charging $50 for a Switch 2 launch game, people will need a break from MKW occasionally, but I'm not paying it.
Re: Game Freak's Upcoming Action RPG Looks Awesome, But Don't Expect It On Switch 2 Yet
Edit: OK only 2 1/2 yrs ago, not 3, Phil said this in Dec 22.
https://www.escapistmagazine.com/microsoft-commits-10-years-of-call-of-duty-nintendo-switch-steam-acquisition-merger/
I think Split Fiction was more an exception than the rule. And even that was a few months behind, so they had time to just work on the port. I'm not worried, early days. But I'll get back to you this time next year to see how I'm feeling then. π
Re: Xbox Officially Enters The Handheld Space, But Nintendo Won't Be Worried
@d-slice It comes w/ either 512GB (2x the Switch 2) or 1TB storage, so I'm assuming it's a standalone device, not the PS5 Portal.
Re: Poll: Switch 2 Battery Reportedly Lasting Under Two Hours With Mario Kart - How Is Yours Holding Up?
Re: Random: You Can Mix & Match Switch 1 + 2 Joy-Con As Pairs
@LinktotheFuture "use a left Joy-Con 1 with a right Joy-Con 2"
How does someone use a Joycon 1 w/ a Joycon 2? To do what? What do the two Joycon do together w/o a Switch 2?
The article says they are using a Switch 1 Joycon w/ a Switch 2, which we already knew. The Switch 2 Joycon is irrelevant unless you think it's somehow newsworthy that the Switch 2 Joycon work w/ the Switch 2? π€·ββοΈ
Re: Random: You Can Mix & Match Switch 1 + 2 Joy-Con As Pairs
You buried this way down at the end when it should have been in the title. π
"Eh...no. No, you cannot. Silly us."
Haven't we known literally for months now that Switch Joycon would work on the Switch 2? This article really only needed to exist if Switch 2 Joycon also worked on Switch, π€·ββοΈ
Re: Poll: Switch 2 Battery Reportedly Lasting Under Two Hours With Mario Kart - How Is Yours Holding Up?
Re: 60FPS, Higher Resolution, Mouse Controls - Fortnite On Switch 2 Sounds Like A Big Step Up
A PS5 comparison would be nice.
Re: New Zelda: Echoes Of Wisdom Update Is Finally Fixing Its Most Frustrating Feature
Haven't played it yet but glad to read this. When I read the headline this was the first thing that came to mind. Was already waiting to play it on Switch 2 but nice to see they added it to the Switch version as well and not make it next gen exclusive.
Re: Poll: So, Did You Order A Nintendo Switch 2?
@Jack_Goetz Hey thanks for the info, and the title correction. I guess they didn't want Drag X Drive to take away sales from Welcome Tour. π
Re: Poll: So, Did You Order A Nintendo Switch 2?
Wow, that list of Day 1 games kinda makes me glad Target canceled my preorder, pretty lame. And no Welcome Tour or Drive X Drive on the list, are they not day 1?
My wife's company said they'd give her one, but it may not be until next year when they can find one. Hopefully sooner than that, but I don't think I even need to worry about it until Donkey Kong.
