Re: Star Fox Is Finally Getting Another Game, Out June 2026 Exclusively On Switch 2

rjejr

Saw this multiple times on Bluesky, thought it was some kind of AI art joke meme trend, came here to check it out.

I'll let you all talk about Starfox, not my kinda game, but announcing a Direct 10 minutes before you show it in an app on a random Wednesday afternoon, what are they even doing? I get wanting to promote the app, that's fine, but 10 minutes notice is barely enough time for new comers to download the app after they hear about the Direct, that's jyst stupid. At least give 24 hours notice so people can find out about the app and let the viral hype do it's thing. Who are these people? Nintendo Logic still baffles me.🤪

Re: The World Is In Such A Mess, Investors Actually Want Nintendo To Raise The Price Of The Switch 2

rjejr

Switch 2 price increase seems inevitable. How many price cuts did the Switch get over it's 8 years? I recall it launching at $299, and then staying at $299 for 8 years. So if the Switch didn't get any price cuts while we were dealing with COVID and they were launching a new console then the Switch 2 is certainly getting a hike during this inflationary period.

Yes I know Switch Lite was only $199 but that was a Lite, not a Switch, it didn't even switch. And it stayed at $199 the whole time. The 2DS dropped at least 2x, from I believe $179 to $149 to $99, or there abouts.

The last Switch remodel, OLED, actually raised the price of a years old console $50 in the US to $350.

So while I do think the Switch 2 will get a cheaper Lite for $299 the Switch 2 will be $499US sooner or later.

I'm not happy about it, but it seems as inevitable as inevitable can be. 🤑

Re: Video: Nintendo Showcases Its Biggest Switch 2 Games In New Ad

rjejr

AC:NH in their celebrating it's 6th anniversary (yippie for COVID flashbacks) is a weird way to celebrate a sort of new console.

Does anyone still care about MP4?

Edit: Oh wow, that trailer is so much suck. Magnetic controllers that snap on. THAT'S your big selling point. People are most likely either playing it handheld or on TV, no one's cares about your SNAP.🤣

And a big ugly camera you probably aren't using in handheld mode and there's a USB-C port right there on the top for a camera to go. Didn't GB or DS have 1 of those. Didn't 3DS have a camera built in?

People don't buy consoles for the hardware, they buy it for the games. Promoting the big ugly back stuff while relegating the games to the background is just stupid.

Nintendo should cancel their paid subscription to whatever lame AI created this garbage. It's horrible.😝

Re: Video: 15 Exciting Games Coming To Switch 1 & 2 In May 2026

rjejr

@DollyrotsFan1 "It is a shame things aren't the same over in the US for you."

Of all the things it's a shame they're like that right now in the US, retailers all having an item at the same MSRP is very far down the list. Maybe hopefully some day it will move back up the list, if we last long enough. 😩

Re: Video: 15 Exciting Games Coming To Switch 1 & 2 In May 2026

rjejr

@DollyrotsFan1 In the US the prices are fairly uniform across all retailers, in store and online. Walmart has physical Yoshi for $50 instead of $60, which matches the digital price, but there really is the variance in price in the US that you find in other countries. The price is the price.

Re: Video: 15 Exciting Games Coming To Switch 1 & 2 In May 2026

rjejr

Yoshi for us. Though my kids said we don't need it day 1, too much else to play, but since it will still be full price 5 years from before getting 30% off in a Mario Day sale in 2031 might as well get it now. Though I am waiting for another eShop credit sale first to pick up Splatoon Raiders as well.

Re: Nintendo & Illumination Are Releasing An Untitled Movie In April 2028

rjejr

I haven't seen Galaxy yet but just rewatched the first movie in preparation for it and they did spend a lot of time with the DK world so an expansion of that makes sense. Plus the game and the theme park.

DK is certainly more of a brand than Pikmin or Starfox, people know DK since the 80s arcade game and rap song, nostalgia sells.

Re: Rumour: A Metroid Movie May Become A Reality As Two Studios Battle For Rights

rjejr

Could be good, could be the Rock "Doom" movie (I think he was still "the Rock" back then) but wearing the suit. Probably Doom.😩

I would like to see how they handle her morph ball form. I'm guessing she kind of squats down and generates a force field around herself and rolls like in a Monkey Ball game. Otherwise everyone would be asking "Why isn't she dizzy from spinning around"? They use it exactly once just for fan service.

I'll watch it. I don't think it will be like any game but they will let her fight metaridley, it will be worth it for that. I've seen the awful Monster Hunter and Borderlands movies, it will be much better than either of those. Can't be worse.

Re: Preview: 'Yoshi And The Mysterious Book' Is More Than Just A Pretty Face

rjejr

Good to read that the creatures carry over between levels, my family isn't really fans of the "one and done" approach of games that limit items to 1 area before moving on to the next.

We're all currently watching my wife play Echoes of Wisdom and this sounds more like that than I would have expected from a Yoshi 2D platformer.

The slower paced puzzle nature of this seems a decent match up w/ the frantic shoot em up nature of Splatoon Raiders.

Re: Talking Point: So, What Are Your First Impressions Of Splatoon Raiders?

rjejr

I want it, but I do need to see more to convince me it isn't just stand alone dlc. $50 is a nice price, but not if it's only a single player 8 hour story with limited replay value. On the flip side, if it's all replayable b/c it's a rogue like I'm not a fan of that either. I can live with a limited story like DKB. When I first saw this last year it reminded me of Jak and Daxter, which had a story, but despite it being 1 of my favorite games of all time, I can't recall what it was.

Hopefully enough for day 1. I may even hold off on Yoshi for this, still seems like I need to learn more about that game as well.

Re: Splatoon Raiders Is Alive, And It's Out This Summer On Switch 2

rjejr

Have been looking forward to this since the announcement. Thought it looked like a sequel to the original Jak & Daxter, minus Daxter, but this video made it look like a reskinned God of War 2018, which is just hilarious, and now I want God of War with these graphics. 🤣

$50 is nice but I’ll need to know more. I don’t play anything rogue like or lite, repetition just isn’t my thing. This looks like it could be laid out like Astrobot, which I just finished and it was great, but fairly short. Which is always a trade off with not making games repetitive.

Never been much of a Treehouse guy but this game could probably use it. I mean sure we all know salmon run but how does that work over a full game. And is the multiplayer story mode or an add on battle mode? Split screen or 1 screen?

If it’s good it’s 3 days after my birthday so that’s sorted, but if it’s short I may be waiting years for a sale. Which will give time for all the probable dlc to release. See DKB Emerald Isle.

Re: Ball X Pit's Second Free Content Update Arrives Next Week, Here's What's Included

rjejr

I saw the title and thought this was about Nintendo's wheelchair basketball game. I think that had an update once.

Did they ever update Welcome Tour? Maybe when they raise the Switch 2 price they can add a section about how to pay for it. Switch 2 Lite should get it's own dlc anyway to cover all the ways it doesn't "switch". It would look funny holding the entire Switch 2 Lite in mouse mode though.😂

Re: Ditch The Dock With Brook's New Switch 2-Compatible HDMI Converter

rjejr

@KoopaTheGamer "Wii U made it work since it was a custom solution"

A custom solution that Nintendo made 15 years ago. They couldn't come up with a new and improved dongle tech in 15 years?

"sometimes losing signal only a few meters away."

How far away do you sit from your TV where more than a few meters isn't enough?

"stream 4k image to a TV"

Are a lot of Switch 2 games 4k? I thought they were mostly upres lower resolution stuff. I think even a lot of PS5 games are still 1080p in performance mode. I'd accept 1080p wireless.

I know latency is always a concern w/ hard-core gamers, my kid won't even use a wireless controller, but wireless HDMI tech has been a thing for awhile now, I feel like Nintendo could have figured it out.

And even if they didn’t, just an a mini-hdmi port to the Switch 2. Or sell this.

Re: Ditch The Dock With Brook's New Switch 2-Compatible HDMI Converter

rjejr

@Superick Maybe the Switch 2 dock has a fan b/c Nintendo decided the dock needs a front panel to hold the heat in and a back panel to hold the heat in and an ethernet port which probably also generates a little heat?

The whole idea of a dock in 2025 still seems off to me. The Wii U Gamepad let you play on it sending the game from the console to the screen. Seems only logical if they put the Wij U console in your hand as a Switch it could wirelessly send the picture to a dongle hooked up to your tv.

But ok that was almost a decade ago, tech has advanced. Did the Switch 2 need a dock? This device means obviously not. But should it even need a wire? I play my $350 iPad (A16 11th gen whatever it's called) on my TV wirelessly. No dangle. Smart tvs with Airplay just accept it. I use my PS5 controller on Bluetooth b/c games aren't meant to be played with a touchscreen.

So if an Apple iPad can play wirelessly on a TLC why can't Switch 2 play to a dongle?

Re: Japanese Charts: Combined PS5 Sales Can't Even Beat Switch Lite

rjejr

I'm very impressed Nintendo is still able to sell all 4 different hardware Switch in Japan at the same time a year after the Switch 2 launched. I figured Lite would stick around for a few years until we get a Switch 2 Lite, but I assumed either the OG or OLED would go away. The OLED must cost almost as much as the region locked Japanese only Switch 2.

Like I said, quite a feat.

Re: The Legend Of Zelda Live-Action Movie Has Officially Wrapped Filming

rjejr

I'm still looking forward to this one. Knowing that it's going to Netflix after it's theatrical run makes me that more likely to see it in theaters. We can probably expect another NF price hike, or 2, by the time this reaches streaming. 🤑

I wonder where Mario Galaxy is going? Maybe I should go see that in a theater as well.

Re: Unsurprisingly, The Mario Galaxy Movie Is Already 2026's Biggest Box Office Hit

rjejr

@JimNorman Yeah, nice list of big blockbuster movies coming out this year, feels like it's been awhile. The Odyssey, not Mario Odyssey, and Dune 3 Prophecy also release this year. I don't think they'll do as big as Mario but they could cross $1B each w/ $25 Imax ticket prices.🤑

Nobody, not even Mario, is a bigger winner than Zendaya this year though, Spiderman, Odyssey and Dune. 🤯

Haven't seen Mario yet, we were traveling, but my kids saw it so at this point will probably just wait for it to come to streaming. Maybe if Zendaya was in it.😂

Re: Switch F2P 'The New Denpa Men' Is Getting A Switch 2 Version Next Week

rjejr

I, kind of remember, this being announced. I don't recall ever thinking about downloading it after that though, even though it does kind of look like a fun little free time waster.

These free to play games usually get updated regularly, gotta go see what's what.

I remember that Pokémon Quest game getting released with a small island and a handful of Pokémon and it was just begging for continuous updates but the last I checked it never got a single one. Maybe it will get a Switch 2 update some day.😂

Edit - Just reread every article on this game, well OK not the guide, and yes it is a game that released. I may try it out. Pretty sure antimatter still isn't.🤣

Re: So, Will you Be Watching The Super Mario Galaxy Movie?

rjejr

I was going to go see it in theaters but then Nintendo Life ruined it by showing me a picture of a popular movie poster Nintendo released so no. 😉

Seriously though maybe yes maybe no depends on our schedule. My kids are going to see it Thursday night. I live in NY, it's a lot of $ for a 96 minute cartoon. Maybe next week while I'm in Michigan visiting family, probably cheaper there. 🤷‍♂️

Re: "We Have Begun R&D" - Crimson Desert Dev Shows Interest In A Switch 2 Port

rjejr

@DennisReynolds "the Switch 2 will struggle"

I guess the way I see it is if a company is making a multiplatform game they want to run on Xbox Series X/S, PS5 and PC, then they could also probably get it to run on Switch 2.

Now if it's a 1st party studio making a game specifically for X/S then they're probably going to have it cut close on S, maybe so close it can't then run on Switch 2. But for a 3rd party needing to cover so many devices from the start, I feel like someone could get it there, if they really wanted to.

I'm sure there are exceptions but I feel it's more true as a rule than trying to get 3rd party stuff running on Switch.

Will Crimson Desert make it? I don't know, but maybe the PS5 price increases will motivate them a little more.😎

Re: PS5 Gets An Insane Price Increase – Will Nintendo Follow Suit?

rjejr

After spending about 7 years reading and writing about the Switch Pro that never ever released, well maybe the $900 PS5 Pro will stop all talk of a Switch 2 Pro before it ever starts.

I mean seriously there must have been like a dozen Switch Pro articles on here over the tears. Never happened.😂

Nintendo does need a $299 Switch 2 Lite for Pokémon in 2027 though. Maybe in time for Christmas for the kiddos. 🎄

Edit: Wow. There were so many Switch Pro articles on NL over the years I'm not even going to count them. So please let's not ever start down that road again.😝

Re: "We Have Begun R&D" - Crimson Desert Dev Shows Interest In A Switch 2 Port

rjejr

At this point I'm pretty much of the mindset that if a game can run on Xbox Series S that it can be made to work on Switch 2, I really don't think the gap between them is too wide to cross. We've seen enough games like Cyberpunk, which the PS4 couldn't really run, come to Switch 2, that I think Series S is the real comparison for what can and can not work on Switch 2.

Not saying it's easy, may made a team dedicated to Switch 2 ports to pull it off, I'm just saying Switch 2 tech itself is probably close enough to Series S to make it happen if a dev team were really determined.

I think the reason Microsoft will have a new console out next year, way before Sony, is to get the Series S albatross off of their necks. MS can just say Helix games may run on Series X but not S, hence not breaking their promise of splitting their "last gen" base.

Then once games are Helix and PS6 only then Switch 2 may have a problem with ports, but not before then. They have a couple of years left, at least.

Re: Talking Point: Should Nintendo Have Kept The Mario Galaxy Movie Fox Reveal Under Wraps?

rjejr

Good article. People are nuts.

If people want to be mad about a spoiler be mad at Nintendo for putting out the poster. This website is NINTENDO Life, it is literally their job, their duty, their reason for being, to report on what Nintendo does. If they didn't cover the movie poster they are not doing their jobs.

You might as well say everything this website does is a spoiler then. Every time they cover anything Nintendo does - announce a new game, movie, hunk of overpriced plastic - it's a spoiler b/c you didn't want to know about it until you saw it yourself. Puh-lease.😂

When the post credit scene w/ Sonic gets revelesed shortly after midnight next Tuesday THEN you can all lose your minds. 😉
