I think Sonic is one of the rare examples of a 2D platformer that plays way better in 3D. I was never a fan of the way the 2D environments would feel like a maze, yet they want you to go fast.
I feel like in 3D it just feels exciting. The slower parts still needing some growing up, but it's not like the 2D version was any better at that.
There's an argument that left-handed swordsmen had the advantage because they were used to fighting southpaw (right hand vs left hand), where the enemy was less trained in this sense and it caused confusion, or at least unfamiliarity, for them.
Also, back on subject, I had always seen it as different incarnations of Link. Sometimes he's right-handed and sometimes he has purple hair.
I could tell you that Pokopia is basically Animal Crossing with Pokémon, but that wouldn’t be entirely accurate. The vibes are there, at least; the music, the dialogue, the adorable animations… It’s very Animal Crossing in its presentation.
But in terms of gameplay, you’re looking at a blend of Dragon Quest Builders and — bizarrely — Viva Piñata (an underrated gem if there ever was one). And yes, a sprinkling of Animal Crossing, too.
Well, I wasn't going to buy this, but genuinely, that kinda sold me on it.
Man, that's cheap! Maybe I'll finally pick this up.
I'm a huge Mega Man fan, but 11 got trapped in a box due to the Amiibo. Same with my 3DS + Gold Mega Man. I could never justify also buying it digital.
I think it's OK that bonafide classics take longer to come out now.
Production requirements aside, back in the day there was nothing so our thirst was much stronger. Also, today we have an entire catalog of games that anything new needs to compete with.
I think a lot of this stems from Miyamoto wanting to get more into storytelling through film making. He's said he's wanted to do this, which is why we have the Pikmin shorts from a few years ago.
Now they've got an animation house and Miyamoto gets to try out his new venture using his favorite series.
@LastFootnote oops I read your message completely incorrectly. I thought you were saying that it didn't lock the + and - and you wanted it to. Sorry about that!
Nintendo, if you're listening, my 1-year old LOVES the Mario stop motion videos (it's close to the only screen time she's allowed to have). She's patiently waiting for new ones!
@Anti-Matter I always recommend DQ 1-3 on the SNES for RPG fans. They're basically the grandfather to all JRPGs and you can cruise through each one in like 8 hours.
The SNES version simply for the rebalancing. The NES one has its place in the hall of fame, but I think the SNES version revisited some of the frustration and made it a little more fun without destroying what made the OG great. Also, the graphics are better IMO
WHOA. I'm normally not one to be offended by the $80 standard these days but that seems like twice what I would pay.
Yes, they're great games. But that's too much.
On the flip side, it is interesting that we're hitting that point in gaming history where a game that's 15 years old can hold up so well that it can come across as a new release to the uninitiated.
I don't know what it was about the first movie, but it marked my time as when I moved on from my childhood Pokemon obsession.
I don't think it was the (boring) plot or anything, I just remember we saw the movie and suddenly my interest waned. If anything, it was the addition of a different style of Pokemon. I still love the games, and play them but my obsession level definitely changed.
I still have my 24k plated Charizard from BK that we got that same day though.
That price point is riiiight on the money! The other Nintendo+Lego sets have been too expensive to splurge on, but this would make a fantastic gift for the SO
This mechanic reminds me so much of Red Faction where we'd just make fox holes all over the place in multiplayer. I barely remember the deathmatch itself, just carving out the map.
@Cikajovazmaj I remember a similar story where he just kept bouncing around in the corner for Donkey Kong Country Returns, and the team was initially pretty confused.
Come to find out he was testing the particles being kicked up, and he wanted DK to be able to blow. And so the "puff" animation was included.
I applied to be a developer on this one at one point, but moving to Ireland was a heavy ask. Great team though. I hope for the best to everyone involved!

Re: Video: Here's How Star Fox On Switch 2 Compares To The N64 Original
A visual treat, for sure! I keep forgetting that the Switch 2 can pull off these graphics.
I've been longing for something short to pick up and play at night. I've played it a million times before but still, this might fit the bill.
Re: Shigeru Miyamoto Doesn't Rule Out Wario Appearing In A Future Mario Movie
I kind of assumed he'd be a part of the next one after the post-credits scene. I'm still convinced she's the Wario of Princess Peach.

Re: "It's Truly Baffling" - Shigeru Miyamoto Comments On The Mario Galaxy Movie's Critical Reception
I thought the movie was great! I mean it's not like a revolutionary plot but I had a lot of fun.
Meanwhile, critics:

At the end of the day, more people click negative news about the current champions, so I'm not totally surprised.

@cylemmulo lol!

Re: Hands On: Forget The Name, Square Enix's New Action RPG Is A Lovely HD-2D Take On SNES-Era Zelda
@NintendoWife I enjoy the DOF/tilt-shift effect, but not the vignette. LA was right on the money. DQ III HD-2D also looks fantastic.
To @The_Nintend_Pedant 's point, the vignette and color correction makes it feel dreary, dim and generic.
Re: Hands On: Forget The Name, Square Enix's New Action RPG Is A Lovely HD-2D Take On SNES-Era Zelda
@The_Nintend_Pedant Right??? The "HD-2D" effect is great! The vignette is absolutely horrible.
I think it's the one thing keeping me from liking these games. Also, it makes them all look the same.

Re: Nintendo Reportedly Pulled Amazon US' Switch 2 Sales After Beef Over "Unauthorised" Sellers
I love that Nintendo has the power to tell Amazon to go pound sand.
I really only used Amazon to buy games back around the Switch 1 launch because of the 10% preorder discount.
Now that this isn't a thing anymore, why even bother? There are so many better options.
