Ok, i've seen a couple of people wonder but I would anticipate we'll see a release date announced at this year's EVO
@tourjeff to be fair this collection is based on the arcade versions and AFAIK MvC3 didn't have an arcade version. That said, I would love to see UMvC3 come to Switch
Yeah, I figured when I saw the deal for 4x gold coins i should get in on that. Also takes the edge off DKCRs price as i never played the original*
Also, there's plenty of digital games I can use the £16.80 worth of Gold coins for
Only issue is if I use one voucher for DKCR, what should I use the other for? There's nothing that immediately jumps out to me.
*Before anyone says anything. I no longer own a Wii or 3DS so buying a used copy of DKCR is sort of pointless if I'd also have to buy a system to play it on. My sense of foresight is bad, I know
I mean if David Attenborough can still make nature documentaries at the age of 99 then I'm sure Miyamoto can still be involved in games for a good while.
This is going to be bombarded with 'C'mon Reggie/Doug/Furukawa, give us Mother 3' and Nintendo are going to be like 'Nah, forget it. They keep quoting an old meme. Give 'em Mario Pinball Land as punishment'
(To be clear, i don't know if MPL is bad or not. I just get the impression it's just OK. Also, don't blame if it is in the next GBA NSO update 😛)
There's going to be special interaction between T-1000 and Conan is there? T-1000- Tell me where John Connor is Conan- You must have me mistaken for someone else
@SillyG To be fair, there were four versions of Street Fighter II on the SNES and each iteration had an extra character and feature or two. Imagine owning the original SFII and then a year later it gets a re-release with extra content that you can't access so you have to double dip on a yearly basis just to get the extra stuff at full price.
In relation to the story, as much as I don't mind DLC, as far as I'm concerned it allows developers to explore ideas that may have been too late or ambitious in development to include in the final product. As far as I know DLC helps recoup some of the costs for the main product expenses too. I do think 4.59 is a bit much for something like this. Maybe it's due to the Mii costumes in Smash that I see this sort of thing as steep.
Anyway, final character prediction? Probably Alex Kidd or Billy Hatcher. A surprise character? Diddy Kong as this game is Switch exclusive
Not only that but it was run by a Dubai NFT firm and seemingly meant to rival another more popular and well-run Philippine based Pokemon convention.
I think the lesson learned here is just because it seems like a fan project thats 'run by fans, for the fans', doesn't mean it's going to be great. Also, those poor kids:(
@Ks123 it'll probably be like Superstars where you can get the DD content from the eShop. Only issue is Superstars DD content came at a price of £11 which I don't know...it's nice that it's available but it seems a shame to be charged that much on top of the base game. That said, it has been on discount at times
I'm pretty sure I've said this elsewhere but the likes of E3, SGF and the TGAs need publishers more than publishers need those events to push their products. Even with smaller games you have wholesome directs and Indie World showcases to properly show off your work on a dedicated presentation. With larger titles, there's platform specific events and like.
@Ulysses tbh, I've always wanted to see a Lego Zelda game that had comical retellings of classic games LEGO TLoZ could have OoT, BotW and Links Awakening while the sequel covered Wind Waker, Majoras Mask and TotK.
I've always thought Danny Trejo would do well in the role but then again, Trejo probably wouldn't take the role due his stipulation that if he plays a villain, they HAVE to face the consequences of their actions ie. get killed off or go to jail forever to teach kids/people that crime doesn't pay. Considering Wario is an anti-hero and recurring foil I can't imagine it happening
I see some people are not thrilled by this news but I think quite a lot of series have found their biggest successes on Switch considering the system has sold tremendously so why wouldn't Pokémon be the same.
Should be interesting. Nintendo has been a fair amount of work on publishing many of the Dragon Quest titles overseas (IV-VI and IX on DS, VII-VIII on 3DS, the original release of XI S and numerous spin-offs) as well as a number of SE titles (the 3DS Bravely series, the initial Live-A-Live remake Switch release) so I'm curious as to whether SE will commit to this
Edit: although I understand the DQ series is a unique situation where it gets licensed out to SE
I have 3 digitally and it'll bug me if I have one of them physically and the other digitally
The file size is pretty good so it qualifies as a game I'd be ok with owning digitally
I have 2500 My Nintendo gold coins on my account and some of them will expire by the end of June so it'll be the most cheapest option too. Getting it at £25-30 seems more palatable too
Hmm....i think the billion dollar company Epic Games will survive without the Samus skin in Fortnite and I'm sure Nintendo will cope likewise. This does make me wonder...
what kind of financial benefit do other parties see from collaborating with Fortnite. Can't imagine it's as much as people think.
I wonder what other collaborations were attempted but never saw the light of day. There must be some.
Nintendo and Viz are pretty good when it comes FCBD. They'll usually have one of their titles available. Last year had Animal Crossing/Kirby. I know Zelda has appeared on previous occasions. Heck, I think one of the Zelda ones had a preview for the ARMS manga that never saw the light of day
@LUIGE It does happen in the UK. If you go to the FCBD website you should be able to find a search function that will tell you where your nearest place that's doing the event.
Makes you wonder at which point during all this did he think 'Yeah, this seems like a good idea. I don't see any consequences coming whatsoever'. He's going to have tough time justifying it as 'constructive criticism'
@Lanmanna Thanks for reading the whole comment. You're absolutely right. I shouldn't make jokes about gamers missing the point of these stories. Just so we got this clear- people reading the NoA and contractors story and only expressing concerns about the first party lineup and Switch 2 is fine but don't ever make jokes about the gamers. That's too far.
I think it's a bit of both sides. If the developer was revealed and it got a negative response, those Devs are probably going to get harangued over it from the more 'passionate' fan. Not great for the developer morale. If it gets a more positive response, chances are they may get haragued in other ways like looking for hints, telling Devs what they should be doing or trying to get extra info. It would also explain why Nintendo announces games a few months before release (with some exceptions). It's probably to let devs to work on stuff without eyes of players looking over them. Unfortunately, there are some people who will judge a game solely on the developer. I'm willing to guess some people didn't buy Sonic Superstars just because Arzest were involved. Sometimes there maybe some logic but on the other hand, the developers of Castlevania Lords of Shadow 2 also made Metroid Dread. Luigi's Mansion 3? From the same people who gave you Federation Force. I think some people look at certain devs and think 'Oh, they suck because...'. I bet there's people who look at ILCA and judge them solely on BDSP and nothing else.
Long story short, I think Nintendo prefers to let the games speak for themselves rather than people obsess who's making it
Guys, you can get The Fractured But Whole and it's season pass on the EU eShop for £17.49 if anyone really wants to play a South Park games. Also, the Stick of Truth is 8.99 now.
Kind of a bummer the game didn't pan out. I don't mind the artstyle switch as the animation is much the shows. My biggest issue was when the trailers were shown, I still had no idea what the game is. It's a shame as I think Trey Parker and Matt Stone do know what a good game can be (IIRC, Trey cites Earthbound as an inspiration for the two RPGs with it's 'innocent kids finding themselves in a much bigger adventure than they anticipated' theme).
Metro gave it a 5/10 but then again Metro also gave Another Code Recollection a similar score saying that 'for all the care and attention the game got, Another Code doesn't deserve to be remade' which is such odd thing to say 🤷♂️
Fun facts I learned about the game from a Retro Gamer article
the game was co-developed by Intelligent Systems
the game was made under a lot of crunch. Up to the point where they set up futons in the next room so staff could take turns getting some sleep Ok, maybe that last one isn't as fun...
I do like how Game Freak foreshadowes future titles
-XY had the souvenir (SuMo)
-A launch event for SuMo with Masuda occured in London (In hindsight, they were probably there to do research for SwSh)
-SuMo had Lillie go to Kanto (LgPE)
USUM had the G-Max Toxtricity poster
Crown Tundra had you obtaining Spiritomb in the same manner as DPPt
BDSP had the hint for a quest in PLA
Not sure if there were any confirmed hints of Gen 9 in Gen 8
the banners outside the Medali restaurant hinted at the Teal Mask
Gen 9 had alluded to the Unova with the...wait... Let's Go Johto with...erm..oh, GF got wise to it and it was Roaring Moon and Iron Valiant that were possible hints to Z-A and Megas
@Anti-Matter to me, the sepia tone implies it's a flashback scene to when the bros were teenagers (note the shaggy hair) and Mario is lamenting he can't yet grow a proper moustache while Luigi had managed to get start getting one. Would be a nice little detail that while Luigi has his vulnerabilities, Mario had his own when being compared to Luigi when he was younger. The van with the Luigi Bros logo seems to suggest that Luigi was the more popular brother at the start of the film. I guess it got changed so it suited their more traditional roles

Recently I learned that Dragon Quest isn't actually owned by Square-Enix. It's actually owned by Yuji Horii and merely licensed out exclusively to SE with Toriyama owning the character design rights and Sugiyama owning music rights. Taking this into account, it's surprising to think that DQ has lost two of it's key forces in recent years. I would assume that the Toriyama estate would now own those.
Anyway, although I wasn't really into Toriyamas works (I did like Dr Slump back in the day) it would be fair to say that his works have had an impact on the anime and games industry.
