Has anyone complained about not seeing enough new stuff in the trailer yet also complaining about showing too much? I feel like that happens on every trailer. Something like- 'We don't know anything about the plot or gameplay!! WHY ARE THEY SHOWING MEGA DRAGONITE AND ONE OF THE TEAM FLARE MEMBERS BEING THE PROFESSOR?! SPoiLErS!!!'
I think one of the best things about this program is that I can put 'Voluntary Playtester for Undisclosed Nintendo Software' on my CV and no one can question it because technically it's true
I still think, in hindsight, that as fans we were a bit harsh on him after the E3 2015 presentation. Nintendo were in a unfortunate situation. The Wii U wasn't doing great, the 3DS pretty much carrying the company along with amiibo and unbeknownst to us, Iwata was in his last days. I think all that made me want to change my viewpoint on games in general. Ditch the cynicism and snark and instead look at things from a different, more fairer perspective. Consider developers as humans rather than a non entity
Even now, you can see Iwatas influence such as Directs to convey information to the player, maintaining relationships and initiating partnerships with third parties, not always just following the trend or...most importantly, able to surprise players with something unexpected but nonetheless fun. People may not realise it but although the man has gone, there's still a little Iwata magic throughout Nintendo to this day
Ah, that situation. I remember not saying anything because I felt like what Helena was saying was coming across as somewhat coercive in matter. I remember people posting screenshots of their cancelled orders and feeling very proud about it. Then when the story got more clarification, people backtracked or doubled down on something else related. It should be taken as an important lesson about not jumping to conclusions or seeing things in black and white. I would definitely chalk this up as one of a few times when the fan base were in the wrong.
In defence of this, the description on the app does say 'why not listen to this and compare it to the original N64 version' so there must be some sort difference within the arrangements
So i suppose the game can now be played in United States, Canada, Mexico, Panama
Haiti, Jamaica, Peru,
Republic Dominican, Cuba, Carribean
Greenland, El Salvador too.
Puerto Rico, Columbia, Venezuela
Honduras, Guyana, and still,
Guatemala, Bolivia, then Argentina
And Ecuador, Chile, Brazil.
Costa Rica, Belize, Nicaragua, Bermuda
Bahamas, Tobago, San Juan,
Paraguay, Uruguay, Surinam
And French Guiana, Barbados, and Guam.
Norway, and Sweden, and Iceland, and Finland
And Germany now one piece,
Switzerland, Austria, Czechoslovakia
Italy, Turkey, and Greece.
Poland, Romania, Scotland, Albania
Ireland, Russia, Oman,
Bulgaria, Saudi Arabia
Hungary, Cyprus, Iraq, and Iran.
There's Syria, Lebanon, Israel, Jordan
Both Yemens, Kuwait, and Bahrain,
The Netherlands, Luxembourg, Belgium, and Portugal
France, England, Denmark, and Spain.
India, Pakistan, Burma, Afghanistan
Thailand, Nepal, and Bhutan,
Kampuchea, Malaysia, then Bangladesh (Asia)
And China, Korea, Japan.
Mongolia, Laos, and Tibet, Indonesia
The Philippine Islands, Taiwan,
Sri Lanka, New Guinea, Sumatra, New Zealand
Then Borneo, and Vietnam.
Tunisia, Morocco, Uganda, Angola
Zimbabwe, Djibouti, Botswana,
Mozambique, Zambia, Swaziland, Gambia
Guinea, Algeria, Ghana.
Burundi, Lesotho, and Malawi, Togo
The Spanish Sahara is gone,
Niger, Nigeria, Chad, and Liberia
Egypt, Benin, and Gabon.
Tanzania, Somalia, Kenya, and Mali
Sierra Leone, and Algiers,
Dahomey, Namibia, Senegal, Libya
Cameroon, Congo, Zaire.
Ethiopia, Guinea-Bissau, Madagascar
Rwanda, Mahore, and Cayman,
Hong Kong, Abu Dhabi, Qatar, Yugoslavia...
Crete, Mauritania
Then Transylviania,
Monaco, Liechtenstein
Malta, and Palestine,
Fiji, Australia, Sudan.
But....but..dbrand once taunted Nintendo and referred to Sony as 'terrorists'. They're the edgy rebellions who sock it to the corps. they're the good guys...
No but seriously, I do find dbrands...brand and 'consoomer fwendo'-ism to be a little brash and cringy personally so the likelihood of me buying their stuff was pretty low anyway. Should be interesting to see how they handle this...
Next time a competitive Smash player does the whole 'Nintendo should support the competitive scene. We made Melee what it is today' call-out schtick, I hope this, those rage compilations and other events serve as a reminder...
My headcanon is that Donkey Kong Jr is a prequel to Donkey Kong. Jr grew up to be the DK we know today. However, the Ape that's trapped in the cage in that game is actually Cranky. However, when Cranky says he was the original DK, he neglects to mention he was the one from DKJr so yes, technically he is the first Donkey Kong in the timeline but due to him being an old grump, he tends to embellish things to save embarrassment from being 'Oh, you're the one who got captured'
My timeline-
DK Jr> Bananza>DK (arcade)> Country series
Got it at launch but traded it in (bear with me). TBH, I'm not really into the battle hub or the single player adventure mode personally and I'm not that keen how some unlockables (costumes mainly) require fighter points (only bought with real money). That said, I might get it again if I find it cheap elsewhere in a few years time or if there's a 'Super' edition/upgrade in the future. For now, I'll wait it out.
In a world of ai, I can completely understand why some VAs are reluctant to do voices that maybe be recorded as you just know someone will use it for nefarious purposes. IIRC, Zeldas VA spoke about why Nintendo themselves aren't keen on VAs doing those sort of things if people use the samples for unpleasant objectives
I prefer the western boxart. Sort of gives off that 'Hey, Street Fighter is back and all your favourites are here. We also brought along some new faces to keep things the fight interesting' feel. I also like the warm colours too that has a 'things are heating up in battle' vibe
@HugoGED I'm going to be that 'erm.... akshually 🤓' person but Miku Hatsune isn't a Sega character, she's owned by Crypto Future Media
@Pastellioli She wasn't considered for Transformed but she did finish highly in a Sega poll for wanted characters (2nd iirc). They opted for Ryo from Shenmue for the PC port in the end. I'm guessing using a character that Sega owns rather than Miku would have been easier.
I suppose it could be fine if we knew who the developer is. Granted, it's Gamemill published so that gives me an 'OK at best' vibe. The trailer doesn't show off much besides SpongeBob and maybe a hint at Fairly Odd Parents but it's not showing off much in the Nicktoons department
@Yalloo It'll all be copied over so you can still use your original Switch. That said, any games that don't support cloud saves will be moved over to the new system
@evanac 'Despite my excitement for Switch 2 (which is very, very high!) nothing will ever match the jump in experience going from SNES to PlayStation. It was MINDBLOWING to play Ridge Racer at home, and then Wipeout and Battle Arena Toshinden - not to mention Tekken soon after - just brought gaming to an all-new level of excitement.'
Get Arcade Archives 2: Ridge Racer, Fast Fusion and play Soul Caliber 2 on NSO and you could pretty recreate that experience all over again! 😉
@TwinFami I would assume because if they did that, they'd have to add relevant themes based on specific series. For example, the clock interface, animations, chimes, the wake up alarm, the sound effects when you're getting out of bed, the 'victory' music for getting out of bed etc.
Should be worth noting for anyone considering getting the base game digitally because it's cheaper- don't. Each fighters pack is £26 on the eShop so if you do want to get the Fighters Year 1-2 edition later, you'd be paying £87 for the entire experience as opposed to just £50 for the entire game in one go.
I don't know if its because I've been spoilt by the ones in Pokémon but those save data bonuses don't seem all that impressive unless they have special/exclusive functions. Ah well, can't complain if it's free* little thing
Of course, I'm saying this as though ZA will have save data bonuses which I hope they would
*Before anyone says it, I mean 'at no additional cost'
I give it two months before the first 'Amphie is a SHILL! Pokémon YouTuber EXPOSED!!' video comes out from the (one of many) usual channels who's main source of YT income is just churning out the same 3 Pokémon themed negativity topics for years now. Hope they remember to have a big red arrow pointing to Ryan's face in the thumbnail. That way, people will know who they're talking about.
Slap on a soyjack meme too and you got yourself a hot take, buddy 😜
First of all, yes to Tatanga as he's always been my choice for the 'huh? Bit obscure but okay' inclusion
Secondly, I've always thought Cappy could work if, instead of driving, he had captured the vehicle and was driving it that way. It'd be just the vehicle with a moustache and hat. No driver. Just a kart somehow driving itself. Of course, Cappy would pop out to perform tricks during jumps...
While it is a shame he wasn't credited as the composer of the song, it should be worth noting that all the original Banjo Kazooie songs in Smash Ultimate are not credited to Grant Kirkhope either. They're listed as 'Composition and arrangement Copyright Microsoft'. I mean if we're going to jump at Nintendo about this, surely some criticism could be aimed at Microsoft too in regards to this. They own all Rare properties and rights so you could argue that Grant Kirkhope should've been credited for that. Of course, technically Nintendo should be credited on all post-2014 ports of Bayonetta as they use JP dub which was paid for and therefore owned by Nintendo but I suppose that's different because Mario Kart World is $80
Anyway, from what I understand is that when a company has commissioned a work, said would own it completely.
A Switch 2 case (for ease of carrying with me), an MicroSD Express (just to play safe for storage over the next few months) and the Street Fighter 6 amiibo card starter pack (because I'm getting SF6 as my launch title)
Personally, I don't feel the need to rush to get all accessories. I don't NEED them so early in the systems lifespan or at all. Whether people feel the same way as me, I don't know.
I did once have a dream about ONM returning and it lacked all the charm and personality and the main feature was the head writer writing about their holiday in Venice. Mostly adverts too
If it's not got jokes about Hull, a misspelt Twiglight Princess poster or Matthew Castles famously nice hair then is it really an official Nintendo magazine? 😏
I don't get it. Some random Twitter user/content creator posted the 'Remember guys, it's always morally correct to pirate Nintendo games' meme so surely that's enough to prove their innocence.
