Re: Pokémon Legends: Z-A Trailer Confirms Starters And Mega Evolutions, Coming Late 2025

martynstuff

Personally, I'm happy to see the game based in an open city rather than the entire Kalos region. A more dense and feature rich area such as a city should hopefully make scenery and areas seem less dull because I found the areas in Arceus (and SV) were a little bit barren and felt like a slog to traverse.
Anyway, a few other points-

  • looks like we'll be collecting zygarde cells that are hidden around the city. I hope it's more fun than collecting spirits for Spiritomb
  • I like there's wild areas where you can still battle, catch and train. Also glad they aren't hostile because I got real sick of that in PLA
  • Before anyone says 'why isn't it on Switch 2'. Keep in mind TPCi tend to release a game long after a new console releases (BW2, USUM). Besides, it'll run on Switch 2 anyway. Probably best to let GF work with what they have rather than throw them immediately into Switch 2 development
  • I do like that it's a sequel to XY. XY felt like it had several loose ends that needed tying up- the ghost girl, the letter at the train station, Zygardes origins, AZs story etc

Re: Pokémon Presents Announced For 27th February 2025

martynstuff

Ok, people listen up. Pokemon is a multimedia franchise so keep in mind that it won't all be about the console games. They will cover the mobile game updates, TCG and anime because it's all part of a larger property. I don't want complaining when they show that stuff

Also, next year is the 30th anniversary so don't expect anything huge until then

Yes, I'm aware there's a social media account sharing rumours about Gen V remakes, Z-A release date being June and a Classics Collection (Memories and Reminisce) but those screenshots appear to be from 4Chan posts and frankly we need to start asking 'What were you doing on 4Chan?' rather than buying in to the speculation. It's just clickbait to get people hyped up.

Anyway, back to your regular comments section about how all modern Pokémon games suck turns to camera while somehow gushing over Legends Arceus which would sort of spoil that narrative

Re: Nintendo Is Discontinuing Gold Points, One Of The Switch's Best Incentives

martynstuff

Going to be honest, I think the My Nintendo rewards are a bit better than what we got at Club Nintendo. There was so many times when there'd be a decent item available and by the time I had enough points, it would be out of stock or they'd be all gone before you had a chance to claim them. That said, I did like the deals where you could exchange points for discounts on
select titles. Seeing Nintendo carrying that over and making sure you got rewarded for digital games and third party titles was pretty neat. I accumulated quite a lot of coins that way. It was a pretty good loyalty scheme.

It also helped take the edge off some of the purchases I made where I felt the game was just OK or I was concerned about getting buyers remorse. I hope we get a similar perks when the Switch 2 comes.

Re: Zelda Dev "Wasn't Too Pleased" About Working On 'A Link To The Past'

martynstuff

@TomSupreme @RupeeClock @Champalimo I'm also going to mention the story about how StarFox involved Miyamoto and Argonaut pulling an all-nighter to finish the game and how they went out to get McVities biscuits (chocolate digestives maybe. Solid choice).

Obviously, it was 30 years ago and as was reported a while back NCL has pretty good worker retention and satisfied workers so I assume, as with many companies I hope, that things have improved. Especially now that developers can put out a statement saying the game is delayed and the customer can completely understand.

All in all, the impression I get from these stories is that game development isn't fun.

Re: New Pokémon HOME Distribution Dishes Out Rare Shinies For Completing Select Pokédexes

martynstuff

@Bobb The previous Fill-in-the-Dex-to-obtain-a-shiny was for the Scarlet and Violet dexes (Paldea, Kitakami, Blueberry Academy). There's still yet to be a distribution for the SwSh dexes. And, yes, the distributions have no time limit so don't worry.

Anyway, it's nice to see they're continuing the 'previously unobtainable shiny' theme with Enamorus. With that in mind, I predict the SwSh dexes will give us a shiny Keldeo as that fits alongside SV having Meloetta being the mythical you can obtain
in-game. Not a clue what the Let's Go games would get you. Shiny Mew?

Re: PSA: Don't Fall For This New 'Wukong' Game On The Switch eShop

martynstuff

@Pillowpants For starters its called 'Nintendo Seal of Quality' so no, Pillowpants Farms doesn't remember

And before anyone replies 'Uh well, it still meant something'. No, it applied to physical games to assure the customer/consumer they were getting an official product not a counterfeit or software that would screw your system up.
Now I don't know how who does QA for the game but surely someone at GGS must have thought the name or thumbnail could be misleading...

Re: Astral Chain Director Seemingly Forms New Studio After Leaving PlatinumGames

martynstuff

I would comment on this story but someone, who I will not name, is thinking something that I do not know so I can't confirm if it's true or not but people have been talking about a thing but I don't know what it exactly is or if still exists.

Here's another paragraph to pad it out so it looks like I'm revealing a lot of information but let's take into account that Astral Chain is a Nintendo published title developed by Platinum Games and saw release in 2019. It received critical acclaim. Character designs were done by Masakazu Katsura with Taura serving as one of the directors. The game sold around 1.3 million copies, a number that satisfied Nintendos expectations.

Now for the last paragraph. People, who i don't want to get in any trouble, would likely want a sequel to Astral Chain although I haven't heard any confirmation that such a game exists. Please keep in mind I've probably wasted your time having you read this and I can't confirm if I have but it is possible but at I have got you thinking and speculating about a new entry in the series.

That's all I can say for now. I will now sign off on this post and possibly delete this post and account if it turns out I'm wrong. Thank you for understanding.

Re: Random: Donkey Kong Country's Artist Reacts To Nintendo's Redesign

martynstuff

Here's the thing- look at the render of DK in MK8/D. It's...not the best. Same with his look in Smash. They always seem a little off. Retros recreation of him is great but I can imagine animating his fur in Mario Kart would be a pain. I think this arcade inspired design with little hints of Country is a good design for this type of game.

Re: Square Enix May Withhold Its Own Products If You Harrass Its Staff

martynstuff

More companies should do this. It ain't 'constructive criticism', it's just reinforcing the stereotype that gamers are a bunch of whiny man children.

I also think companies should be able give out ironic punishments to people as result. Think StarFox Zero was a slap in the face to fans of StarFox on every social media platform post? Miyamoto should be able to literally slap you in the face. Won't shut up about F-Zero being dormant? Get run down by a car.

You don't want to know what happens when you complain about WarioWare 💩

Re: Rumour: 'Switch 2' Will Reportedly Be Officially Revealed This Thursday

martynstuff

Ok, semi hot take here but I just want give me own little opinion here- I really hope Nintendo don't release this thing in April like some are speculating because

  • I won't be in a great financial situation at that time (long story!) so if it did, I'd be very upset and would get FOMO
  • If it did release then, it's not leaving much time for Nintendo to do marketing for the thing. Even the gap between the Switch's reveal (October 2016) and the systems release (March 2017) was a good few months and I think it's fair to say it worked well for Nintendo. I'd prefer Nintendo to slowly build up to it. To me, that seems like a smarter business choice.

Re: Nintendo's Punch-Out!! Series May Be Dead And Buried For Good

martynstuff

Thats nothing. I got all the NL staff drunk and they told me everyone who's commented so far is a 'funkin' whiny buncha coats who talk a load of ship' or something along those lines*

Ok, but seriously if they made a new one with a new cast, you can bet there'd be a backlash from some that 'it doesn't include all the favourites so its no longer Punch-Out!!' or any other route i could imagine. During the Pokémon gigaleak, I noticed Nintendo and TPCi have been making an effort to make sure representation is handled well. I guess Nintendo would be damned if they do, damned if they don't. Personally, the NES, SNES and Wii versions still exist and the series is represented in a manner of ways in Smash so its legacy exists no matter what.

*obviously this is a joke but really i wouldn't blame them if they thought it sometimes 😛

Re: Reminder: Sonic X Shadow Generations 'Sonic 3 Movie Pack' DLC Now Available

martynstuff

Its a fine level and the challenges are enjoyable but I did get frustrated with the cutscene within the level (the one where Shadow tackles the helicopter). It kind of interrupts the flow of the action. I wish they incorporated a QTE in it to keep it to keep the players attention.
I also wish the music was a little quieter too. If you have Keanu Reeves voicing a character, I'd quite like to hear his voice though.

Still a fun level nonetheless

Re: Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Announced For Switch, Coming Soon

martynstuff

Judging from that name, it sounds like it's a Sonic racing game but you'll be racing in other Sega worlds which could mean..

  • its probably more in line with the All Stars Racing games (yay)
  • it's probably going to have a story (groan. I didn't care for TSRs story)
  • If it does have a story, it could be a multiverse one (groan. I think that's been done to death by this point)

All that aside, I'm cautiously optimistic

Re: Nintendo Now Officially Owns 100% Of Monolith Soft

martynstuff

I mean so long as the founders and creatives still remain at the company then I don't see this as a bad thing. Although I do wonder why the founders sold their 4% share

Anyway, I'm sure this wont affect the company's operations much. I think its fair to say MonoSoft have truly come into their own since that initial 80% buyout in what could be said to be one of the better acquisitions in gaming

Re: Nintendo Music - Every Nintendo System, Series And Song Included

martynstuff

I really want to get in on this but the app isn't compatible on my devices 😭
That's right, everyone. You think Nintendo is behind the times with tech? I'm worse.

But seriously, I do want in on this but I'm not going out of my way to get a new device just for this app. Anyone know what the minimum os is for this app?

Update: Android 9. I'm 0.9 off.
