Mario Movie Home Release Bonus Features Seemingly Detailed

In a weird sort of way, I was really hoping for a directors commentary, maybe even having Miyamoto be apart of it(Subtitled of course).

Pretty sure we'll hear plenty of stories of Chris Pratt stomping Koopas in the original Super Mario Bros. arcade game.

Remember the glory days of DVD when they used to pack the disk with as much content as physically possible? I miss those days. They just don't try anymore. Where is the Director commentary for example.

@Trikeboy It really was awesome! I bought the Lord of the Rings trilogy special edition that each had 4 DVDs, two for the movies (extended edition) and the other two filled with hours of pure extra content.

@JeanPaul yep that box set was gold…so many extras it was unreal!

I'm a little more interested in how the film was made than in what the voice actors think about the games, characters, and settings.
But it's not like I expected Nintendo and Illumination to pull a full Pixar with this, so I'm okay. ^^

And I was expecting some sort of low grade mario game for the blueray. I guess they will pump the money into a new game based on the film and a new film so they can maximize profits!

Too late, way too late, already lost interest in waiting for the movie

It's always a bit disappointing that most animated movies don't have small videos chronicling the animation work behind the scenes. But I guess that doesn't sell discs!

Disappointing extras.

In the Directs the cast always sounded like they were making stuff up about how they loved Mario. They are only there for the money.

I would have preferred storyboards, artwork and a making of documentary with the Animators, Nintendo and Director.

In this day and age, I guess we should be thankful we're still getting physical releases of movies at all. A sad state of affairs.

@Snatcher At this point, neither. I normally get my movies on the DVD/BD, and I go to the cinema only for special occasions. Last ones were The Last Jedi and Rouge One.

Personally, I think what would be fun is if they did what Pixar does and make an animated "blooper reel" for the Blu-Ray release. I have a few ideas of what they could do with that:

They could have Bowser go into one of his speeches, only to flub his line, causing the entire Koopa army to start cracking up. Or when he starts singing his Peaches song, he starts cracking up. Or when Princess Peach, Mario, and everyone else are on Rainbow Road, her crown flies off and hits someone behind her, and she awkwardly apologizes.

It dose seem to be standard practice for cgi films to have some sort of short for the home release (unless your Disney the you attach it to a film you need boosting) I think all of my kids illumination DVDs have a related short

im just hoping we can eventually collectively forget this version of mario, so his face can look right again. that ain't mario.

@PrettyPatrick weird how they focus on the cellbrities around this movie. Anya TJ was fun as a chess queen but here they are just voices. The vision of miyamoto and the directors are such more interesting

I mean, I don't really care about the extras. I just wanna own the movie on physical media. So, I'm good with this ^_^

In my dreams the home release includes a version of the movie with all of Brian Tyler’s music intact. I don’t mind the 80 hits – in fact, I quite enjoy them – but it’d be great to have the option.

I would much rather have something from Chris Pratt on how to be a hero like Mario instead of Anya Taylor Joy on how to be a leader like Peach, seeing as this is The Super Mario Bros. Movie and not The Princes Peach Movie, but it's pretty transparent why we're getting this stuff from her about Peach instead. Maybe they at least could have given us both so as not to give the agenda away so obviously. But, hey, they movie is still amazing, and that's really what I care about, not the whole pushing the girlboss stuff.

Thank God Miyamoto and Nintendo got in there before it was too late and made them reign in what they had planned for Peach, which was basically making it her movie with her front and center and her saving the day and so on, and instead we got The Super Mario Bros. Movie we actually wanted and deserved.

Also, yeah, as some people have said, I really would rather have seen a whole making of documentary and concept art and stuff like that, things that actually go into how this film was made and all the blood, sweat, tears and obvious love that went into, rather than some celebrities talking about whatever random stuff.

The extras are rather weak since it'll just be rehashed stuff they've all said in the countless promotional interviews they did for the film I'm sure.

@RetroGames Yeah even with the slightly subdued agenda there still wasn't any hint of the sweet caring Peach I knew from the cartoons as a kid or any of the games.

@theModestMouse To be fair, she was a bit Girlboss, but at least she wasn't an ass to Mario. She even showed a bit of affection for him and kindness towards him at times. So I think they landed just on the right side of showing a kickass female without falling off into overly woke, virtue-signally, agenda-pushing territory and with a female character that was just and ass [usually towards any men] and unlikable like so many other modern "strong", "capable" and "empowered" female characters. I actually like Peach in this movie, despite some initial worries when I saw the first couple of trailers, thankfully.

@RetroGames - Haven't seen the movie yet as we expect to buy the one with bonus content, especially so that my children can enjoy it. I am happy to hear that horrid agenda isn't really part of it, though I did notice the bonus content title and wondered why only her (she's clearly not the most important role)? Is that Nintendo's decision?
It's incredibly rare to watch any other movie lately without agendas so we've been skipping many movies, and actually stopped watching many of them midway due to the number of blatant agendas in there. It's almost time to completely stop watching secular movies. They are just too at it.

I did hear that Nintendo did a great job with this though so that's a positive.
