Beyond just lexicon, the various inspirations and influences with Pokemon designs and regions has led me to learn a lot about the cultures and ecosystems of distant places.
Not only does this OST have a huge array of fantastic original compositions and insane remixes, but there's also a good selection of songs from games not yet on the service. Incredible OST! Do give this one a listen!
Oh sweet! I hope we get an update on Glaciered---that game looked really neat and they said it would release late 2025 but there's still no word on that. I'm looking forward to seeing what other Indie games are shown!
Considering the Pacific setting we can expect most Alolan Pokemon (barring starters, Ultra Beasts, regional variants, legendaries, & mythicals) to be making a return here.
Maybe I'm biased, but I picked Gen VII, specifically for the USUM box art. The black creates a nice contrast against the orange and purple. What makes this box art go above and beyond is how combining both games' box art reveals Ultra Necrozma.
Runner-ups:
Gen V: The letter patterns are really aesthetically pleasing.
Gen IX: It's really neat how these box arts resemble the covers of the Scarlet and Violet books.
Honorable Mention: If it was an option, Legends Arceus would have been my favorite. It follows the BOTW formula of gazing out into the distance, but boththe emphasis of Mount Coronet and the pleasing watercolor style they went for makes this not just my favorite Pokemon box art, but my favorite box art ever. But wait, there's more: ROWLET IS IN THE ART!!! 11/10
@Nep-Nep-Freak I'm a bit conflicted with that. On one hand, I'm ecstatic that the game is getting all the time that it needs to have all of its edges ironed out. On the other hand, this is a pretty dry year for 1st-party releases I'm interested in. There's only one game I could possibly get, Splatoon Raiders, but as I'm not normally a Splatoon fan, that entirely depends on if that has some interesting gameplay. It feels too soon for many of the series I'm interested in to release something so that's where the 2027 release is a bit of a bummer. Overall, I do think I lean more to the side of it being good that its a 2027 launch though.
I haven't decided if I'm going to play LeafGreen alongside Silksong or wait to finish Silksong before starting it.
But yeah one or both of those games for me this weekend.
Edit: I decided to play both simultaneously. Started LeafGreen earlier. I felt like I would rush through Silksong if I decided to do LeafGreen afterwards since I'm in a Pokemon mood after the Gen 10 reveal.
My memory didn't make it in, and that's okay. I admittedly got bamboozled into thinking mine did get in for a second, as my submission took note of a funny name I gave my Wingull (I named him "CRACKERS"), sort of like wiiwouldliketoplay's story.
I prefer the Waves version outfits. I think the blue compliments the other clothing colors far better than white. I also prefer the cap to the cowboy hat.
Overall, the starters are decent. Definitely better than the terrible Paldean starters. My first reaction to them was honestly kinda negative but they grow on me every time I look at them (well, for the most part).
Browt feels like Dollar Store Rowlet...so in other words my favorite of the trio. It's a pretty goofy design and I like it. I'm curious what bird it is supposed to be. In its current stage, it looks like an owl, but it would be strange to have two grass type owl starters in anniversary Pokemon games set in tropical regions. Either it's a caprimulgid or it's just a super general chick design. This will probably be what I end up choosing.
Pombon is just adorable. It's so poofy and friendly-looking.
To an extent though, it sort of just looks like a Pomeranian with an orange coat, and the design doesn't seem quite as inspired as the other two. Still a great 'mon, though!
I'm sorry, but I do not like Gecqua. Between the really long fingers and toes, the strange face shape, and the jarring pink eyes, it's just a very unappealing design for me. I do sort of expect it'll have a good final evolution, though. Still not picking it.
I don't really like either of the sunburnt Pikachus.
Pretty much the only new things this Presents brought were the graphics of Winds and Waves (which are only adequate, nothing outstanding), the new starter Pokemon (which are only adequate, nothing outstanding), and the fact that Gen 10 will only release in 2027 (which is sort of a double-edged sword for me because on one hand its great that Game Freak is taking their time but also now I have no Nintendo games to look forward to this year). That said, I've enjoyed thoroughly picking apart the Winds/Waves reveal trailer.
The New 3DS XL is just a really nice size. I like the accents of the New 2DS XL, but the look of it inside the clamshell just isn't as good as the New 3DS XL.
Super Mario Party Jamboree is third on the Nintendo Switch charts. It's hardly surprising that this would be on top over just games that were already out on Switch. This tells us nothing about how well the games ultimately sell.
Since Wario is notorious for his greed and because the story is supposed to primarily take place in space, it'd be funny if they made Wario a sort of Elon Musk stand in.
LeafGreen has more version exclusives that I like, so I'll pick it up. I don't like how high Nintendo is making a GBA game re-release, but for my purposes I expect to get my money's worth from this.
Bowser's Fury Bilewater was getting under my skin a bit, so I've elected to take a break from Silksong for 1-2 days and I figure I'll play through Bowser's Fury on Switch 2 to do that.
Hollow Knight: Silksong If I feel up to it, I'll play tomorrow.
Mario Kart World and Kirby Air Riders As per usual, I'll probably play a few online matches.
This gen has a pretty great roster of new Pokemon. It's a pretty close match, but in the end I chose Toxtricity. The juxtaposition of poisonous purple against electric cyan/yellow looks very clean. It makes for a very cool design. Also, it has probably the best GMAX form IMO.
Pokemon Coliseum and XD get a release date for NSO (no home compatibility) (60%)
Mega Garchomp Z event for Pokemon Legends: Z-A (70%)
7-Star Pikachu Tera Raid Event in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet (50%)
Switch 2 patch for Legends Arceus (either free or paid idk but I can feel it) (50%)
A new mythical Pokemon for SV (in the Scarlet/Violet book, there's a page about Area Zero Pokemon which has hidden in the corner an ape-like Pokemon with an obscured face. No Pokemon like it spawns in Area Zero.) (50%)
Pokemon HeartGold and SoulSilver HD-2D Remakes (30%)
Mystery Dungeon announced (45%)
Gen 10 specific predictions:
It's planned to release this year (80%)
It's Switch 2 exclusive (80%)
Legendaries AREN'T announced here (65%)
We see gameplay (70%)
Graphics look slightly better than the upper end of open world Switch game graphics, but below what would be expected for a Switch 2 exclusive (60%)

Re: Review: Pokémon FireRed & LeafGreen (Switch) - Red-Hot Nostalgia In A So-So Wrapper
It's sufficient for what it is. I'm having fun.
Re: Nintendo Indie World Showcase March 2026: Every Announcement, Game Reveal, Trailer
Blue Prince coming to Switch 2 is neat but otherwise nothing really piqued my interest. I voted "Average".
Re: Blue Prince's Excellent Mansion Mystery Arrives On Switch 2 Today
I've heard a lot of good things about this game and the concept sounds quite interesting. I'll be wishlisting this one immediately.
Re: Pokémon Center Confirms Anniversary Pikachu Plush Restocks
I wish Pikachu's Shiny form looked like this.
Re: Pokémon Scarlet & Violet Announces Final Ranked Battle Season
Makes sense considering Champions is releasing on Switch soon, and that's where competitive will take place for the foreseeable future.

@ROMhaiku You called?
Re: Round Up: The Reviews Are In For Pokémon Pokopia
Finally, something to shut up the people enraged by games being rated 79/100.
Re: Review: Pokémon Pokopia (Switch 2) - One Of The Most Enticing Pokémon Games Ever
Well between this and Tomodachi Life, cozy Nintendo gamers are eating good right now.
Too bad I'm not one, lol

I'm so glad that I can finally play a Pokemon game and pause to say "that looks pretty nice" instead of "God, this game is ugly".

Re: Pokémon Winds & Waves Will Be Released "Exclusively" For Switch 2
It would be certifiably insane if Pokopia was exclusive but Gen 10 wasn't. I'm glad its exclusive, they really needed that extra power.
Re: Pokémon FireRed & LeafGreen Switch Update Censors Naughty And Offensive Names
Here before people act like naming your rival a slur is essential to the FireRed/LeafGreen experience.
Re: Poll: So, Which Starter Will You Choose In Pokémon Winds & Waves?
"If Rowlet is so good, why haven't they made Rowlet 2?"

Rowlet 2:
so yeah, that one
Re: Pokémon Winds & Waves
Finally, it looks not terrible.

So the Grass starter seems to be Rowlet 2. Interesting.

Re: Pokémon Presents February 2026: Time, Date, How To Watch
I expect to be equal parts excited and disappointed. That's just the way of these presentations.
And I will not be waking up early to catch this, I'll just use my anti-spoiler late viewing method as per usual.

Re: Poll: What's Your Favourite Gen 9 Pokémon?
This gen is quite easily my least favorite batch of new designs.
That said, Clodsire is amazing.
Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl: Duel - The Legend Of Zelda: Link's Awakening
The NA/PAL design is just boring. The Japanese design looks quite fun.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (21st February)
Bowser's Fury
Bilewater was getting under my skin a bit, so I've elected to take a break from Silksong for 1-2 days and I figure I'll play through Bowser's Fury on Switch 2 to do that.
Hollow Knight: Silksong
If I feel up to it, I'll play tomorrow.
Mario Kart World and Kirby Air Riders
As per usual, I'll probably play a few online matches.
Happy gaming, everyone!
Re: Poll: What's Your Favourite Gen 8 Pokémon?
