I completely agree with the letter about Mario Kart World. I absolutely love the height of the skill ceiling in this game and have already logged over 130 hours because of it.

Something I'd like to add is that a lot of people who complain about the game being a skill-free item storm don't seem to realize how they can avoid most items by taking the many alternate paths available in most courses. This makes the game incredibly strategic and a blast to play.

Good read!

Ori and the Blind Forest: Definitive Edition
I currently have around 60% of the map explored. I plan to complete the game before the full release of Kirby Air Riders.

Kirby Air Riders --- Global Test Ride
My heart yearns for more City Trial, though I probably won't play too much to make the full release feel more special and also so I can focus on Ori.

Pokemon Legends Z-A --- Nintendo Switch 2 Edition
Still going at the grind for the Shiny Charm.

Mario Kart World
I will almost certainly hop into the game for a few matches, but probably not many.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Re: Digital Foundry Covers The "Disappointing Tech" In Pokémon Legends: Z-A

I love Legends Z-A, but Game Freak really needs to get their act together with regards to optimization. The details of indoor areas prove that Pokemon's graphical woes come purely from an inability to make good of the graphical budget allotted to them. Luckily, this should be less of a problem for mainline Pokemon games on Switch 2, but even then, unless Game Freak figures out how to optimize their games, the next big Pokemon game will be technically subpar for a Switch 2 exclusive.

Re: Random: Steam's Brand New Game Console Sure Looks Awfully Familiar

@Friendly I wasn't saying that there's no point in owning a PS/Xbox (ok, maybe Xbox). My point is that Steam is providing competition to Nintendo and PlayStation, which makes it harder for any of the 3 companies to be overly anti-consumer.

From what I understand, PS5 standard is more powerful than Steam Machine, and Nintendo of course has its exclusives, so Steam Deck/Machine does not make these other consoles redundant. And then there's Xbox, which is a sinking ship whether or not Steam competes.

Ori and the Blind Forest: Definitive Edition
Started playing earlier this week. While I found the start a bit slow, I think the game is definitely starting to pick up now.

Kirby Air Riders
Checking out the Global Test Ride Demo. I did lessons yesterday and enjoyed how the game controlled, excluding the Quick Spin. If I enjoy this demo, I may pre-order.

Pokemon Legends: Z-A
Going to work on the 1000 battles grind a bit. I'm in no hurry so I'll just do a couple of nights in the Z-A Royale daily until I reach 1000 battles.

Mario Kart World:
Probably going to play a few races and KTs.
