@Medic_alert Jumping with A is unusual, but coincidentally it's good preparation for the Kirby DLC in a month. Since that's DLC, it will likely have a difficulty spike relative to the main game.
I spent 20 minutes or so in the first room. Did I leave because I had done everything? Because I got bored? No. It's because I knew later I'd level up and be able to finish the job more efficiently. 😎
I give it 4 years before there are indie Bananzalike games. Perhaps the Saudi Arabian prince buys part of Thunderful and gets them to make SteamWorld Dig 3 where you find oil reserves.
@dskatter True, the two biggest heroes of the first golden age of the arcade getting reinventions in the same week is quite the angle that I haven't seen stated yet.
Imagine in 2025 still being an outlet that only has 5 possible review scores. Such outlets' arbitrary whims have a disproportional impact on Metacritic scores.
@FatDaddyD I'm curious: what's your source for the $16 figure? It sounds credible and would explain a lot. But splitting increased costs with consumers is not how business works. Consumers would pay the entire difference. And even then you'd be trimming your profit margins since they're measured in percentages.
I could see Monster Hunter Wilds on a game key card. I bet the game key card issue is mitigated for mainly online-focused games that would have lower resale and collector's interest anyway. Perhaps Tekken 8 using the same rationale.
The ending music and Rainbow Road here are the best (musical) tracks in the series.
Also, I think the reason new releases won't be on here that quickly is OSTs are much bigger in Japan. And yet they are so slow in getting them produced.
Perhaps they're gonna wait a bit and see how the game key card / only having 64gb cards to choose from situation shakes out. I just saw Little Nightmares III at Best Buy.com for $40 for Switch 2 (as a game key card) and $60 for Switch 1. I can't imagine their thinking it's worth $60 (first party MSRP) but not $70 (first party MSRP) with improved graphics. Perhaps this means it would have had to be $80 to maintain margins, or perhaps they're conducting an experiment to see how much people value the completeness of a card.
@Davesy22 They said in an interview that they shouldn't be that much more than current ones, but that defies credulity. I'm thinking they mean cards in the 32gb or lower range, like Doom Eternal, which was $60. But so far amongst Switch 2 game key cards, only Bravely Default (9.3gb), Hogwarts Legacy (23.1gb), Civ 7 (14.6gb), Kunitsu-Gami (10.1gb), Nobunaga's Ambition (12.4gb). This wouldn't work for Street Fighter 6, Hitman, Tony Hawk, or Split Fiction.
I hope this gets sorted out before Elden Ring and FF7 decide on their release format. It will be telling if Limited Run sells boatloads of, say, SF6 copies. (Not announced, just a hypothetical.)
And I could see it bringing extra demand to the used Switch 1 games market. Physical buyers might need to fill in parts of the release calendar that are just game key cards by taking a second pass through the Switch 1 catalog, even if those games are no longer that available in new condition. Maybe good but less popular games like Triangle Strategy, SMTV, and Unicorn Overlord will see spikes in sales down the road.
I've never heard of a game including a digital version of the strategy guide, save for TMNT Cowabunga Collection having a fake one in it with codes and tricks, but I'm extremely here for it.
I just read about Switch 2's 3D audio in Welcome Tour where you can hear game sounds coming from places other than the speakers, like a ventriloquist I guess. I don't want to think there's a fly buzzing around me while playing, so I wonder if that option can be turned off.
So many commented on reusing assets as a complaint when the game released. It's good to see that framed in a positive light especially as a solution to some of the problems with the industry right now.
I was a Switch Player supporter for the latter half of its initial run and didn't realize it has been back for a while now. I resubscribed digitally last week.
I hope this SanDisk microSD Extreme line of cards existed before microSD Express were announced and that it's not some skeezy way of capitalizing on the confusion therein.
I could see them solving this by giving the server info to some preservation society for one game for a year. Then when that org whose motives we trust also has to close it down, we'll have a better sense of the math involved.
I don't get the argument about it chilling game design though. I get the argument about the rights holder being liable, but that sounds like something that you fix in a different way.
To be fair, he does get good representation at the Osaka and Tokyo Capcom stores. I think they just don't know how to modernize him. But they know from Ace Attorney that the market is healthy for AA releases. With increased backwards compatibility making console generations effectively 15 years, they won't be able to cheese headlines by re-releasing the same collections every 7 years. They'll need to finally give us a Star Force collection and/or Legends collection.
Gaming is not a branch of the "tech" industry. Literally all of the "FAANG" stocks and Microsoft have tried to crack the market. Obviously, MS has gotten the farthest, but even that's not going all that well. You have to have real visionaries, not empty suits.
@88NickC The point is they had money. They could have even sold part of the Mariners to get Rare. Or perhaps revenue from the Mariners (assuming they were profitable) could have helped them buy Rare. Microsoft or Boeing could have bought the Mariners.
There's no justice in an industry where studios are folding left and right and Forever Entertainment and Game Mill aren't among them.
@SpecialStreamCannon
So how does this compare to the original? Were the frustrating combat mechanics already there? It seems an omission that this wasn't stated.
Heaven forbid the Sega Ages line actually have representation from different Sega ages!
Studying philosophy taught me when a rationale does not justify its conclusion. Studying PR taught me that when this happens, there's often another reason. I think they've already planned to put it on NSO.
90% of this company's games are wrestling games, and they used to own a majority stake in a wrestling league, but yes let's only mention them in association with Earth Defense Force.

Re: Opinion: It's Time To Get Rid Of Fall Damage
I thought about this article this weekend because DK Bananza has the opposite of fall damage: now the ground takes damage when you land.
Re: Nintendo Still Doesn't Want You To Talk About The Switch Online Playtest Program
I've noticed there are more parts of the Switch 2 OS that are screenshot-friendly than for Switch 1. Maybe they're lightening up on that in general.

@ROOCIS It makes sense that you've barely scratched the surface. I suppose you don't even see the surface until the end of the game. 😏

@topsekret I forget if it was MKW or Cyberpunk, but I put it in my S1, and it gave a message about it not being playable.

Where are you getting this from? Or does your username check out?
@Fake-news "Can’t even use the SW1 DLC codes on SW2! That’s really anti consumer."
Again, where are you getting this from? Or does your username check out, too? haha

Why wouldn't they give a little bit (or big bit) more warning?

The only explanation here that makes sense is this is yet another experiment, trial balloon, A-B test, or whatever your preferred expression is.

Re: 27 Upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 Games We're Excited For In 2025
Marvel Invasion had better be more like Shredder's Revenge than Rita's Rewind. The latter is such a disappointment.
Also, so many of these will have full physical releases on Switch 1. I think until key cards are resolved, the cross gen overlap will be like 4 years.
