Re: Daemon x Machina: Titanic Scion Roadmap Outlined

Specters

@Thomystic my opinion is that a roadmap so soon after release tells me they haven't actually finished the game. They didn't just wipe up these plans and it happened to fall on the date of release. Also changing the dynamics is planned Paid DLC 2 months after release. They clearly cut this content to sell for later.

I was going to buy it on PC so I don't care about the physical media side of things, but I can see if you did care about that how it is even worse unlike you're suggesting. There is little to no chance they'll have a 'complete' edition physical release. If someone already bought it with the expectation they were getting the full game they won't be.

Roadmaps so close to release just tells me that you're signing up for early access by another name and purposefully withheld that from the customer. And I can assure you they aren't doing that to benefit the customer like you're weirdly suggesting. If they did want to benefit the customer they should have held off till December and just put out the full game. If sales were good and warranted it then maybe announce DLC next year.

Re: "I Can't Afford To Give It Away For Free" - Silksong's Low Price Is Causing Devs To Re-Evaluate Their Own Games

Specters

I'm glad it is finally out and seems to be a decent quality, but people really need to have a reality check on the pricing. Remember this was going to be a free DLC and now is a $20 game (a 33% increase over the original game). It was originally a stretch goal on the Kickstarter and backers get it as well. They didn't do that out of the goodness of their hearts, that's what people originally pledged/bought the game with. Doesn't seem like a great deal when you actually know that. You're actually paying $35 for 'Hollow Knight' now. I think people are blinded by hype and giving a pass because it is an 'indie'.

Team Cherry are more akin to what major publishers do, cutting out content then charging for it. Compare it to something like Stardew Valley that is comparable to size, scope, and sales, which has had almost a decade of updates (and he is still updating it), but ConcernedApe didn't break off the island expansion or multiplayer updates and make it Stardew Island and charge $20 for it. Team Cherry still could have made good on their promise of Silksong as free DLC and all 3 members still been multimillionaires since the original estimated to have made over $100 million.

No one would be praising a Nintendo, Sony, Microsoft etc if they promised something free but then charged for it later.

Re: Video: Uh Oh, Elden Ring On Switch 2 Has Issues In Handheld Mode

Specters

@luke88 You mean you don't mind it, not that it runs great. It runs at sub 4k and rarely hits 60fps, pop in is like GTA 3, animations still decimate all over the place if you have like more than two characters on the screen. Inconsistent frame pacing and very low frame rates on the quality mode. And the worse RT mode of any major game.

I wish From used some of those billions they made on Elden Ring and hired some developers to upgrade their ancient engine but why do that when they can just put out a basic cut and paste job and sell millions more.

Re: Video: Uh Oh, Elden Ring On Switch 2 Has Issues In Handheld Mode

Specters

@BaldB3lper78 Bruv Elden Ring runs poorly on all consoles. The PC port lacks many basic PC features even to this day some notable ones are; locked to 60fps, hitching from poor shader compilation, doesn't support upscalers like DLSS, and a bugged HDR mode that is present in all their PC ports. What you're mad at is some developers not optimizing their games, not the console.

Re: Round Up: The Reviews Are In For Drag x Drive

Specters

For me it is just that there is no personality or character to the game, which is very rare for Nintendo. They needed some designers and artists to work a couple weeks to come up with characters and a unique art style to really make the game realized.

Re: Nintendo's Official Camera "Attach Rate" With Switch 2 Revealed For US

Specters

I used game chat for the first time the other night and was actually surprisingly impressed even did Game Share through it and everything just worked. I use Discord for PC gaming and it is not that great and a paywall despite being the standard.
My guess with how good it worked with the audio, screen sharing, and game sharing, I'm assuming the video is just as good. Actually made me consider hooking a webcam.

Re: Miyamoto Views Games As 'Products', Not 'Works Of Art', Says Ex-Nintendo Dev

Specters

I get the perspective they're trying to rely here. It is that the user and user experience is first and foremost, which really aligns with a lot of Nintendo games being gameplay and user experience first designs. But saying it is a product has a different connotation at least in the west of poor quality, soulless, profit first and foremost.

Re: "That's Some Real Coward S***" - Hideki Kamiya Discusses The Fallout From The Bayonetta 3 Voiceover Controversy

Specters

The controversy was extremely stupid and I'm glad I was one of the few on here that was saying her story wasn't adding up. Before Platinum responded showed the receipts that they offered her well above her pay grade, before the hate campaign against Jennifer Hale, before Hellena Taylor admitted she lied and exposed she was a hard right winger playing the victim, before the boycott and hate campaign against the game which still colors a lot of people's view of the game. I based it on her saying the game franchise was worth $450,000,000. You would just have to have a slight bit of knowledge of the series to know how incredibly untrue that statement is. The infamously poorly selling, but critically acclaimed series was somehow actually a secret money maker when Platinum was on the brink of bankruptcy for a decade. But people just overlooked that really glaringly obvious lie. I know a lot of Gamerz just got on the hate train because it was a Nintendo exclusive and they were looking for any reason to publicly hate it since they were still mad about Bayo 2.

Re: Digital Foundry Is "Happy" With Switch 2 But Feels The Screen Is "Problematic"

Specters

I generally game on my OLED on my 4090 PC at 120fps and can notice low and unstable frame rates much more than normal people. But I'm not understanding the complaints about blurriness on the screen or interface, you realllllllly have to be looking for it to notice. That they have to slow it down to 11% recording speed to even notice the blurring seems a little excessive to even warrant a comment. I do however understand the HDR complaints on the screen and the obtuse way they calibrate HDR. Yes an OLED will be better (obviously) but as an LCD it looks good, runs good, and is a substantial upgrade over the base Switch 1.

Re: Princess Peach's Voice Actor Has Been Replaced After 18 Years

Specters

Her story isn't lining up. How she could just find out after the game was released when she didn't work on it at all. Even if she just found out about the game when it was revealed she still didn't bother to see if she was going to do any work on the project? Maybe she should have been in contact with her agent.

Re: Hardware Review (In Progress): Nintendo Switch 2 - A Faster, Slicker, Sexier Switch

Specters

Having a good time with mine. From trying out older games they've all had some type of improvement even when they haven't been 'updated' yet. Was pretty impressed with how good the mouse controls actually felt and responded.
The battery does feel a bit like it gets drained fast but I'm also never too far away from a USB-C charger so not that big of a deal for my use.
Now we just need Xenoblade Chronicles X to get the 60fps upgrade (maybe some higher res texture) and we'll be all set.

Re: A24 Bringing Elden Ring To The Big Screen With Ex Machina Director

Specters

It clearly cannot be exactly what is in the game because that would be boring to watch. To have a nameless, emotionless, aimless, mute 'hero' with zero motivation to do anything in a world that is already dead just going from scene to scene killing bosses, however that would finally show the fanboys how devoid of story the main story is of Elden Ring.

My guess is it is going to be about the Shattering. That actually has a story, political intrigue, characters are alive and active and the world state isn't already over. Could be focused on the royal children specifically Ranni, Radahn, Melenia and Miquella. All of it leading up to everyone defeated, corrupted, or dead and it can end with the setting up the Haligtree as a possible haven which we know is also doomed and teasing a sequel of Miquella and his journey to the Realm of Shadow.

Or something totally original within the world.

Re: Nintendo Apologises For "Error" With Mention Of Switch 2 VRR TV Support

Specters

@Stwert 1. Yes I know but that Nintendo said it was HDMI 2.0 something that doesn't support VRR in all instances and all displays and that they almost immediately removed that from their sites should have stopped everyone, especially in the media from saying it does. Nintendo Life even just published a video breaking down the specs and said Switch 2 did support VRR on TVs just the other day. You trying to make it more complicated than it actually is rather than just accepting the fact that it isn't compatible out of the gate.
This isn't to say they couldn't later add it through a system update at lower resolutions on TV. Personally I would rather developers program their games for a locked 60fps than relying on VRR and often failing to even be in VRR range.

Re: Nintendo Switch 2 Final Tech Specs Have Been Confirmed

Specters

@Razzy Series X can to reserve up to 6GB of the RAM for OS as few as 3.5 GB. Again you're splitting hairs between 22% and 25% like it's the greatest difference in the world.
Further things like DLSS helps with CPU bottlenecks that the other consoles constantly come up against.

Re: Nintendo Switch 2 Final Tech Specs Have Been Confirmed

Specters

I'm more interested in the dedicated decompression chip.

Also people are taking the RAM reservation out of context PS5 and Series X reserves almost 4 GB for their OS which is pretty much the same ratio. When you have things like Party Chat/ Voice Chat etc you need higher RAM usage so it runs smoothly under all conditions.

The original Switch had almost the same ratio of RAM usage with having barely any features of the OS. You couldn't 'turn off' the OS to improve game performance. There are much easier things that could improve game performance more immediately with the headroom they have in both the CPU and GPU clock speeds.

Re: Former Assassin's Creed Lead Isn't Happy About Switch 2's Game-Key Cards

Specters

This guy doesn't even know what he's talking about. People are heavily criticizing Game-Key Cards, not giving it a pass because it's Nintendo, in fact I would say that it is actually getting more negativity because it is Nintendo doing it. You can share the game Game-Key Cards, that actually makes it better than the code in the box of the era he's referencing. You can resell it, unlike code in the box or digital games. And that he is using DS as 'modern' should tell you how out of touch this guy is.

Re: After Selling Pokémon GO For $3.5 Billion, Niantic Is Now Laying Off Employees

Specters

@Pigeon you'v'e made a lot of assumptions to justify your premise that it isn't greed, too bad the facts don't go along with that. The WARN system is only for full time employees, these are not temporary employees. They just got $3,500,000,000 from the Saudis. They could have used $51,470,588.23 for each of the 68 employees to retain them in some fashion, retrain them, or reassign them in any way. They're choosing to fire them instead.
The video game industry is not a volatile market, it has weathered multiple worldwide recessions, a worldwide pandemic, worldwide supply chain break down, and disastrous hardware launches, and only grew. There is plenty of money out there, just not for the workers that make the money. You are so misinformed it's no wonder you believe the bosses.

Re: "We MUST Resist Buying These Game-Key Releases", Says GamesMaster Host

Specters

As a PC player mainly I haven't been concerned about physical media for almost 2 decades and PC games are the most preserved games out there. People will find a way to preserve them.

This gives people the flexibility to then sell the cart which is the only legitimate complaint previously about digital games.

Otherwise all I see is a whole lot of misinformation and misunderstanding in these comments.
