Re: Talking Point: Great Game, Poor Performance - When Does A Bad Frame Rate Not Really Matter?

Specters

I am someone who has an ultra high end PC going at 144 fps on basically any game that supports it yet I'm truly not bothers by Switch games when they have low frame rates. The truth is if I'm still able to have fun then it doesn't matter. SMT V, BotW, NMH3, etc all had frame rate issues, but where ultimately so fun regardless.

When it's becomes an issue for me is if it is actually 'preformance issues' meaning I cannot play the game. The biggest offender in the past few years that I played was actually Deathloop's multiplayer. Their matchmaking system and poor net code meant on most matches I was warping back and forth whenever I tried to do any input. It was so unplayable and jittery it actually made me feel sick trying to play it. Since the single player wasn't as interesting as I hoped I ended up uninstalling the game.

Re: Mario Movie Producer Defends Chris Pratt's Casting, Says The Voice Is "Phenomenal"

Specters

Honestly think all the other picks are good (Charlie Day as Luigi is perfect) or interesting enough. Chris Pratt, however, is the most important role and I think a failure of stunt casting. I know he is 'working on" the voice, but honestly for stunt casting the whole point is you know who the actor is so you know who the character they're voicing is suppose to be. He has been a clueless idiot goof, which he can't really pull off anymore, and a gruff christian military bro. That's all his roles. Neither are what I would call Mario.
Get a talented voice actor in there or a different stunt casting.

Re: Animal Crossing's Happy Home Paradise Update Will Be The Game's "First And Only Paid DLC"

Specters

@Snatcher I agree I don't think anyone wants that BUT that is what they are actually saying they want. Reread what people are saying.
"Wasted potential" and "needs more support" means more DLC. We know they are done with free major updates so that means they want more paid DLC. They could have cut this paid DLC in to 4 pieces and that would have been the amount you get with The Sims DLC. They could have made every major free update a paid DLC and had more value added than most games DLC.
"It should be a live service" that is Fortnite, do we need a battle pass for Animal Crossing to keep up constant content? And honestly maybe they don't know that Nintendo does actually already have one of these it's the mobile game. I can remember a huge uproar when they added in loot boxes in that but seems like people here want more content so they can be sold to them.
Almost all the first posters said that everything should have been free and already in the game at launch. Again despite hundreds of hours available with the launch content that clearly wasn't enough according to some people here. The free major updates...not enough. The paid DLC not enough. Nothing will be enough.

Re: Animal Crossing's Happy Home Paradise Update Will Be The Game's "First And Only Paid DLC"

Specters

A lot of people seem to want Animal Crossing to turn into Fortnite and have Nintendo aggressively monetize everything like The Sims just so you can get more than hundreds of hours of playtime that's available in the base game even without the updates. I'm glad you guys don't work at Nintendo. Glad it's finished, that they did what they wanted, and now they can move onto another project.

Re: Metroid Dread Staff Say They've Been Left Out Of The Game's Credits, MercurySteam Responds

Specters

@Yorumi see you still can't take your own advice and mind your own business. Really getting a picture of the person you are.

Talking about unions as following authoritarians while you are against democracy in the workplace. OKAAAAAY. You would get a gold medal in mental gymnastics to explain away your nonsense.

Again please take your own advice. Stay out of others business. Don't comment on anyone else's opinions.

Re: Metroid Dread Staff Say They've Been Left Out Of The Game's Credits, MercurySteam Responds

Specters

@Yorumi 1. Unionization is not an extreme.
2. You're assuming a union is corrupt.
3. You're telling me to mind my own business when you responded to my just general comment totally unsolicited. Take your own advice bruv.
4. You can live your life however you like. Just collective bargain has helped workers far more than 'personal responsibility' ever has. And that's a fact.

Re: Metroid Dread Staff Say They've Been Left Out Of The Game's Credits, MercurySteam Responds

Specters

@Yorumi no you are saying you don't want anyone making decisions for you. Well society influences you every day in every decision you make.
Futhermore personal responsibility has absolutely nothing to do with employee/employer relationships and business decisions. In fact in this example the employee actually have zero say in what happens with accreditation because the employer has 100% of the control and final say.
I guess you would rather lay down and take it than have to work with others.

Re: Atlus Reveals New Details About Persona's 25th Anniversary Celebrations

Specters

@VoidofLight spend I don't value P5 at hundreds of dollars and a console I have no use for. If they even did a low rent port like they did for P4 Golden I would get it on PC full price easy. At least a million more have gotten the P4 PC port and I suspect they would too.

Switch makes so much more sense with Joker being in Smash. They had millions of eyes on the series but didn't capitalize on it. Smash Ultimate has sold over 8 times what P5 in all its iterations and sequels sold.

Re: Digital Foundry Explores The Two Sides Of No More Heroes 3

Specters

Combat and story are super fun. Definitely had some big surprising moments. The open world is totally fine and you actually don't really have to interact with it besides fast traveling to an area and driving to the clearly market fights if you don't want to do any of the extra bits.

Re: Monkey Ball And Yakuza Creator Is In Talks To Leave Sega For NetEase

Specters

@Blizzia Yeah you are being dismissive but what are the leagues of difference between NetEase and EA? Ubisoft? Activision Blizzard?

Even still if you're so worried about IP rights, Epic has done more to profit off of others ideas than anyone else in the game ever.

What "abhorrent" act has NetEase done other than making bad to decent mobile/ licensed games? Why are these Chinese companies "basically like someone passing away in terms of game development"?

Re: Monkey Ball And Yakuza Creator Is In Talks To Leave Sega For NetEase

Specters

@Blizzia I said I agree with you originally. Was actually the first thing I said.

You've dismissed the other companies wrong doings, also you seemed to not even know about them, yet you insisted Chinese companies must be worse. So what is the difference was my point. They're all baddies and if that's why you don't support them you would be hard pressed to support any video game developer.

Why is your criticism only at the Chinese? Almost like there is some other motive...

Re: Monkey Ball And Yakuza Creator Is In Talks To Leave Sega For NetEase

Specters

@Strictlystyles guess you'll just have to change political power dynamics set in motion for hundreds of years, the West's dependence on cheap foreign markets and 'free trade', and capitalism in general.

@Blizzia I agree with you but I sincerely hope you don't support or purchase any Activision Blizzard, Ubisoft, Microsoft, EA, Square Enix, Sony, Konami, Sega/Atlus, Nintendo prior to Iwata (and some after), and the many other video game companies that have literally done terrible things to employees and consumers. The video games industry is the most deregulated media out there and get away with a lot of truly abhorrent things.

Re: Nintendo Reminds Us Splatoon 3 Is Still On The Way

Specters

@XenoShaun there will be a whole new campaign. If that's what you were there for in the first two this will be a third. Don't know where you're getting that it's solely multiplayer or it is like an EA sports rooster update. Truly baffled by what you're saying as if it is fact when all information and precedent is to the contrary.

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo Switch OLED Model Looks Lovely, But May Also Disappoint

Specters

@KryptoniteKrunch They use NVIDIA for their chips and their DLSS would most likely do the heavy lifting of improving frame rate and RTX for visuals improvements. Both of which can be turned off for the base models
For reference I have a 2070 SUPER in my PC and I could barely get above 40 FPS in Cyberpunk 2077 with ultra settings and raytracing on but with DLSS at 1080p Could get over 100 FPS and at 1440p could get 75-90 FPS

Re: Switch Error Code 2123-1502 - Users Still Waiting On Fix For Update 12.0.3 Issues

Specters

@locard hey buddy I didn't say you personally didn't do it and I didn't say it would fix it for you. Just said that's what I did, it fixed it for me, and it's a SUPER DUPER COMMON misconception between putting a device to sleep and doing a hard restart.

I do IT work and you always start from the most basic steps to eliminate causes and turning off and on a device is one of the first steps. More times than you might think that does in fact solve issues and a lot of people don't think to do that simple solution by themselves before requesting assistance.

Re: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Retains Its Crown In Nintendo Switch Best-Selling Games List

Specters

32.63 million in the first year is seriously impressive for Animal Crossing or any game for that matter. Most games don't even sell 1 million units over their entire lifespan. Also that's over 40% attach rate even big games like GTA don't have that kind of attach rate. And closing in on 3 times as many sales as New Leaf's total sales.
That's a gigantic leap forward for the series.

Re: Video: Pokémon Fan "Fixes" Diamond And Pearl Remakes With This Slick Concept Trailer

Specters

I truly hate repeating this over and over again every single time, but the best thing anyone can do if they truly want big changes in Pokemon is to stop buying them. It is the easiest and simplest way that will actually cause change.

Complaining on the internet isn't going to change anything when you go out and buy the final product regardless.

All they really see is they put in X amount of money and made Y product and got Z amount of profits. And as long as that profit margin is good they have zero incentive to change.

Regardless I think the remakes are faithful to the original, I most likely won't purchase this. I am, however, extremely interested in Pokemon Legends.

Re: Random: Masahiro Sakurai Calls Cyberpunk 2077 A "Dream Game"

Specters

Been playing the game on PC with high-ultra settings with over 60 fps so running it isn't a problem. What I found a problem is that it is way too repetitive with little to do besides the very limited missions with only 3 characters I cared about (1 which leaves the story within the first couple hours). 60 hours in I started playing Yakuza Like A Dragon and I've just straight up dropped Cyberpunk. The writing, plethora of minigames, and deep and fun RPG elements was everything that was lacking in Cyberpunk.

Loved the setting of Night City but just wasn't anything that interesting to do in it and the overall story wasn't that compelling. Maybe the free DLC and expansions will turn it into the game I truly wanted.

Re: Fortnite Adds Free 'Wakanda Forever' Emote

@AndyC_MK84 think you're thinking about it too hard. You even said it yourself it's a catchphrase to his most popular character and one of the most popular characters in the world. Think it's pretty self explanatory why people would connect the character and him so closely.
