Re: Random: Former Nintendo Employees Kit & Krysta Share Their Initial Reaction To Palworld

Specters

@LadyCharlie I put a couple hours into it and it's actually a very boring game survival game. It's a bit better than an asset flip/early access game but doesn't have much going on that others do way better. Tons of better survival games, third person shooters, and monster catching games. At least get gamepass and put the bill on Microsoft, otherwise it isn't worth spending a dime on it for a joke.

Re: Yes, Nintendo Is Aware Of Palworld's Existence

Specters

@Princess_Lilly I would say that especially about yearly franchises but for a 'brand new' IP this is uniquely bad for being so successful.

As for it being fun, that's my point is it is actually less than its component parts and that gamers are somehow enthralled with should disappoint any creative person. It doesn't do survival better than survival games, doesn't do monster catching (and designs) better than monster catching games, doesn't do third person shooting better than third person shooters, doesn't do MMOs better than MMOs. Why bother making something creative and exciting when you can just throw together this nonsense that is a step above an asset flip?

Further I've seen several of the 'most helpful' reviews on Steam that explicitly state they love it because it makes people angry. Really tells you a lot about what is motivating these gamers.

Re: Yes, Nintendo Is Aware Of Palworld's Existence

Specters

Personally I think it is just a bad game that takes very clear (and maybe illegal) influences from Pokemon but gameplay is like a poor mashup of Fortnite and Zelda BOTW.
More importantly, it is just a sad state of gamers that something so poorly made and devoid of creativity is doing so well when there are so many actually brilliant and unique games go unnoticed and actually good developers go broke.

Re: Sea Of Stars Developer Sabotage Replacing 'The Completionist' NPC

Specters

Glad they did this. Might check the game out after I finish Alan Wake 2.

Jirard already admitted in his video response that he did do charity fraud by saying everything was being donated when they didn't, that they were major donators to specific charities that they never donated anything, and that 'bits, subscriptions, and merch sales' didn't go to charity even though he said it through his streams and it was in writing too, but I guess it's okay because he's sorry and should have had been more transparent. I think he is trying to pull another fast one on everyone by saying it was all legal so it's cool that he lied about it but he doesn't understand that it isn't just about legal ramifications but that he duped his fans.

Also weirdly they donated $600,000 after being exposed even though the YouTubers uncovered they had over $660,000 last year (presumably more this year) so they're still keeping something.

Re: Hideki Kamiya Reveals Why He Left PlatinumGames

Specters

@fenlix yeah but it didn't come out and he clearly isn't directing it anymore so I won't count that towards anything. If we really want to speculate I bet the other executives at Platinum probably wanted the game to be more focused and...shippable since there has been several reports that the project was getting out of hand (Scalebound without Microsoft footing the bill). The announcement/teaser trailer was 3 years ago and no updates since then that I know about. Kamiya has said its scale was others fault and not his vision, but also he isn't the type of guy to take credit for failure.

Re: Hideki Kamiya Reveals Why He Left PlatinumGames

Specters

He didn't direct anything since Wonderful 101 and the canceled Scalebound, I think his ego is way too inflated. Also a reminder he was writing the stories for most of Platinum's games which is easily the worse part of their games. The one good story was Nier which he had no involvement with whatsoever. I look forward to seeing what Platinum creates without Kamiya.

Re: Kamiya To Take His Bayonetta Vision 'To The Grave', Thinks Franchise Will Still Continue

Specters

Internet fanboys are the worse. They hated Bayo 2 when it came out while now it is seen equal or even better than 1 and now they hate Bayo 3 but I bet in a couple years when the hate for the ending has subsided I bet the community will accept that Bayo 3 was actually a great game.
As for Kamiya, he didn't direct Bayo 2 and 3 so I bet the series will be absolutely fine without him (maybe even get better writers not hampered by Kamiya's vision) if Nintendo wants to green light anymore.

Re: Aspyr Claims The Star Wars: KOTOR 2 DLC Was Cancelled Due To A 'Third Party'

Specters

@Arawn93 I think you've misunderstood what I said. I'll take it out of games to make it clearer. If a car maker said buy the car now and we'll promise to get you the doors within a year that would be a pretty dumb decision. I won't buy that car.
If you didn't want to play vanilla KOTOR 2 now and wanted to play with the cut content then you should have waited till the cut content was actually in the game before buying.

Re: Aspyr Claims The Star Wars: KOTOR 2 DLC Was Cancelled Due To A 'Third Party'

Specters

I think there have far more egregious false marketing by game companies than this. I think the only thing better they should have done was allowing refunds (though it's probably hard to do on Switch since Nintendo does not have a system in place).
But as consumers I think we should all take this lesson that continually is abused by publishers, developers, and reviewers that what is promised or 'will be fixed' is not what you're buying. If you are buying a game on a promise of content or fixes down the line, but are unsatisfied with the actual state of it when you buy it then you've made a bad decision.

Re: Digital Foundry Digs Into The Nvidia Chip Rumoured To Power 'Switch 2'

Specters

I've always been a PC/Nintendo buyer and I just upgraded my PC to a 4090 so I'm not terribly concerned with the power or not.
The exclusives will be the true power and as long as Nintendo continue making great first party games I'll continue buying their consoles. I'll be very interested to see what they can do with the tech.

Re: Wario's New Voice Actor Seems To Be Confirmed

Specters

Personally like it better. Sounds a slight bit more playfully sinister which works for Wario. Overall not a major change. He's clearly doing 'Wario' rather than a whole new voice.

Had there been no announcement of a change I really feel the overwhelming majority of people wouldn't have noticed or cared. Bet in a year other than the xhardXcorex fanboys, no one will be talking about this.

Re: Random: Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom Devs "Too Occupied" To Play Elden Ring

Specters

I 100%ed Elden Ring, but really there is no substantive comparison. I know this will hurt the fanboys' feelings but Elden Ring brought nothing new to the Souls formula other than making a large open world, also it didn't even bring anything new to the open world genre. It is one of the most 'dead' open worlds with pretty much nothing going on other than being connective tissue to link the legacy dungeons and a handful of quests.
Even the closest thing you could say was that both games have 'secret' underground sections but the truth is those areas in Elden Ring aren't that expansive and are segmented from each other. They barely are related to the surface area and have a broken space issue similar to Dark Souls 2 map issues, unlike Zeldas that are directly related and it isn't faked.
Like the article says they were developed at the same time so for the Zelda team to have implemented that idea based on Elden Ring would mean the Zelda team developed a huge segment of TOTK's game area and the story and themes throughout the whole world in 1 year.
It's really silly to even think this could be true.

Re: Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom's New Update Targets Item Duplication Glitches, Unsurprisingly

Specters

Played 160 hours in the game and in that time I beat the game, all main quests, shrines, side quests and most the side adventures. In all that time I rarely needed money or any specific items that I didn't have through just normally playing the game.

There is no grinding necessary. You are never blocked from progressing the story and you always have a plethora of options to deal with situations in the game. It's not like some RPGs where you cannot beat a boss or dungeon without getting to a level far outside of normal progression.

Re: Sinister Fishing Adventure 'Dredge' Receives Second Free Update On Switch

Specters

Weird to see some people here being disappointed by the game, especially the story.
For an indie game it had a rather engaging and simple story to tell and told it well. If you have any knowledge of cosmic horror you could have seen everything coming, but it didn't diminish it for me knowing the tropes. More importantly, the gameplay was fun and varied, building on mechanics till the end. It didn't outstay its welcome, think it took me about 10 hours to 100% the game.

Re: Review: Xenoblade Chronicles 3: Future Redeemed - A Stunning Denouement, Utterly Essential

Specters

@LikelySatan I would say these games start fairly stiff but when you learn how to cancel arts and get the abilities to cancel from arts to arts it really opens up when getting different abilities and combos to regain arts faster. It can be very active and chaining arts back to back with the correct abilities and gear. I know it is a bit of an ask to say you'll have to get 4-8 hours into the game before it starts feeling much better, but that's how it is.

Also it is worth taking the time finding the style you like (offensive, support or defensive). You can choose between the characters and classes to find one you like most and let the cpu play the other roles.

Re: Pokémon Scarlet & Violet Version 1.3.0 Is Now Live, Here Are The Full Patch Notes

Specters

@WillQuan No I'm not but I have been harass by people such as yourself that fanboy out too hard about games. Also I'm not going through and reading all your comments sorry not that into you.

But let's end it here, if you can't notice a difference from launch to how it preforms now then that's your own feeling on it not how it actually is. I really hope you haven't played most modern console games especially open world games since most don't hit their target frame rates of 30 or 60 and have many of the same type of bugs and glitches (some even worse and game breaking). I would just say that, unlike other major releases, it was known and documented in reviews that it ran poorly so you should have saved yourself the anguish you clearly feel and steered clear of it.

Re: Pokémon Scarlet & Violet Version 1.3.0 Is Now Live, Here Are The Full Patch Notes

Specters

@WillQuan I gain nothing by telling you my experience and only get harassment from people like you for saying that it runs better than it did at launch. Which is an absolute fact. They did have a performance patch and maybe you didn't catch that.
I'm not even saying it is at a stable 100% of the time 30 fps but it is fairly decent now and I doubt most people would care about how it runs now if it was the original release.
Regardless it certainly isn't something to continually whine about on the internet months after the fact. Unlike other major titles, pretty much every review mentioned the poor performance so anyone with 1 minute of googling could have known pre release how it was.
I knew getting the game it was going to preform badly but I also read that it was one of the best Pokemon games in years.

Re: Pokémon Scarlet & Violet Version 1.3.0 Is Now Live, Here Are The Full Patch Notes

Specters

Don't know what all these people are complaining about on here since it has been running at a mostly 30 fps since the first major patch except for the last area was still bad last I played. But compared to launch where it was nearer to 20 fps or less seems like it's been a fixed issue.
Did these people miss that update or just never have played it and are jumping on the internet hate memes?
