@Dev-N I think prices will increase, just because everything I think will increase in price. Rather unfortunately I would say, as some people have been struggling as is.
For once, I would say that this one launch you probably don't need to wait on if nothing else. At least in the U.S with tariffs and everything, there is a high chance that the Switch 2 will increase in price in the future.
Taking that into consideration, guess its better to get it now rather than wait later. Sure, an OLED model will probably drop later on and other special editions, but who knows what the economic situation will look at that point?
I'm a bit mixed. I just don't think the hybrid console appeal is as high as it was with the original Switch.
Look, I get it it was never going to hit that some of same wow factor because its been out for a good several years and we have other handhelds in the PC landscape as well now.
The biggest deal I think will be the 1st party offerings. If Nintendo was able to push out games like TOTK and BOTW on old hardware like the Switch, imagine what they could do now on the Switch 2.
What is there for me to even be excited about? I know because of the situation in the US I know I won't be able to afford it.
So many things, to pay for. Games are more expensive, controllers are higher and I have to pay more money if I just want to run some games at a higher res/framerate. That is not an ecosystem I want to be apart of.
Its fine I suppose? I like the controllers that's why I subbed original to buy the SNES and N64 controllers.
Its a subscription service though at the end of the day and I don't like em. Nothing against NSO specifically, I don't care for gamepass or PS+ either.
Its not a terrible idea, although part of me kind of hopes that with these apps like Parental Control, Music, NSO and finally Nintendo Today maybe we should combine them into one app.
It must be very difficult to curate a store for it be quality titles without all this ai garbage, but literally every digital storefront suffers from this. PSN, Microsoft Store and of course, the eshop.
Gosh, thanks Nintendo I can finally play Hentai Games Collection on my Switch!
@johnedwin I've kind of said this before, but Sony/Microsoft are not competition with Nintendo given their audiences are quit different.
Someone who wants to play GTA6 isn't picking up a Switch. Probably an Xbox or a PlayStation and its been like this since the Wii I would say. I don't think Nintendo has anything to worry about as long as they don't flub it up like the Wii U.
I'M worried about Xbox, they need to be competitive with PlayStation so that they don't have other side of the market to themselves. The guys that only play call of duty, sports games and stuff like that.
I don't want the only option for games that don't come to Nintendo's platform to be just PlayStation or PC.
More power/ is really the main thing and that's a given, since the hardware will be newer. Faceplates would be cool, sure. Other things, I am neutral on such as Streetpass I don't care whether they implement it or not I never used it on 3DS.
Heck, the Switch as it is has all these implementations in the joycons but its been barely utilized. Such as the IR sensor, which I am sure many people have forgotten even exists on those things.
@TeiGekiLord Sonic generations was already good. Even if the new content was only above average, the game would still be good because its Sonic generations.
I wish the series quality was more consistent like Mario rather than this rollercoaster of up and down quality.
Speaking of things to use mynintendo points on, something like this would've been very cool. I've always felt like the point rewards have been a bit lackluster.
As someone who learned that they can have a bad habit of spending way too much money on these things, I am more than happy to not play any of these gacha games anymore.
I'll be staying far, far away for my own health and well - being.
I love the Metroid series, I wish it sold better than it did but I am glad that Nintendo has continued to support it. There was an era where things were a bit iffy for a bit there.
I don't get the criticism that a game cannot have both things or that story is less relevant. There's enough complexity to video games as source of interactive media that boiling down to saying gameplay is better than story is far too surface level.
Visual novels as a genre are not known for their gameplay. You wouldn't call those games bad because those games prioritize story over gameplay. Some games don't intend on focusing on its story telling. Mario and Donkey Kong games have never been about that.
RPGs sometimes can focus on both stories and gameplay. Nintendo has done this themselves with the Xenoblade series. I would say that many Zelda games do have solid stories. Perhaps simple, but that doesn't mean that they are bad by nature.
Reading a book does not give the same experience as experiencing and watching the events happen through the character's perspective.
I suppose I shouldn't be too surprised given how old the Switch is now, but it is a shame that both third party games and 1st party games have both being having performance issues on the Switch.
Nah, no way. The U.S gets screwed especially when it comes to the preorder bonuses.
On top of generally more interesting bonuses, they get steelbooks and stuff. Like TTYD came with a buildable battle stage, how cool is that? Only Europe got it of course.
It would be nice because the digital versions barely ever go on sale and if there was a physical option it certainly would; to say nothing of the second-hand market.
I think the two remakes have been on sale maybe once. I don't know why they would make the two remakes digital only and then Emio gets the physical treatment. It's not like Emio is any less niche than the two remakes.
Well, I don't have NSO and I haven't really seen a need to get it considering I don't play a lot of multiplayer games so I guess not for me.
If it didn't require NSO to use it I'd give it a try. Also, the starting selection is pretty bad. Nintendo has such a massive catalogue of music, I feel like they could've given us more than that to start with.
I think it is sort of telling that there was a many year gap between RE6 and RE7. I think they really had to rethink what they wanted RE to be at that point.
What's funny is that RE6 sold quite well, so its not like it didn't sell and I feel like if this was another company they would've just done RE6 again for RE7.
I never would've thought the Xenoblade franchise would expand the way that it did back during the Wii days I sadly thought Xenoblade Chronicles would go down as one of those forgotten Nintendo games during that era as that wasn't uncommon back then.
I could not have guesses that it would be even a fraction as large as it is now. There catalouge is impressive given that no one seemed to talk about them before Xenoblade Chronicles aside from Xenosaga.
Baten Kaitos has seen a sort of new life given the new ports, but that DB RPG they developed on the DS was quite good as well.
I really don't think its fair to push aside other peoples issue with framerate, just because its not something that you personally care about. If it bothers other people then that's just as valid as not caring at all about it.
Its odd that this game would be so performance heavy given that it doesn't look nearly as impressive as BOTW/TOTK.
Given that Link's awakening had similar problems, maybe its Grezzo on the line here. It is disappointing given all they had to do was lock the framerate to 30.
I wonder if they can somehow come to a balance or if the Zelda fanbase will be segmented now between people who want TOTK/ BOTW versus people who want the games more inline with TP, WW, OOT and MM.
Switch sports is an interesting title, since I feel like people were rather lukewarm on it as title, but it sold very well apparently so it must have been a good success.

Re: It's Official, Switch 2 Has Sold Over 3.5 Million Units Globally In Its First Four Days

I know the GameCube was considered a bit of a flop, but that's even less than I thought.
Re: Splatoon Raiders, A New Splatoon Spin-Off, Is Confirmed For Switch 2
Talk about coming out of nowhere. Considering the popularity of Splatoon surprised we didn't get a spin off sooner!
Re: Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade Scores Switch 2 Release Window
If this is full on cart then I'm interested as current Intergrade doesn't have a full version on PS5. The intergrade portion is a code there.
I'm doubtful though given that Bravely Default was a key card.
Re: Review: Kunitsu-Gami: Path Of The Goddess (Switch 2) - Tower Defence With A Twist In Capcom's Gorgeous, Yokai-Slaying Hybrid
I think it's a bit of missed chance that this game isn't a real cartridge, just a key-card. Mainly since this game is digital only on other consoles.
Would've been cool to see. Overall performance seemed okay.
Re: Digital Foundry Delivers Its Mario Kart World Tech Review - "Nintendo's Artistry Stands Out The Most Here"
I was glad I was able to scrap together some coupons so I could get it for around $20 less than the initial price. I wanted a physical copy.
Hopefully we don't start moving even higher in terms of price.
Re: Review: Yakuza 0: Director's Cut (Switch 2) - A Series Highlight That's Never Looked Or Played Better

Re: Video: Nintendo Today Gives Us Another Look At Zelda: Wind Waker For Switch Online
The quality of life stuff makes the HD version definitive by default. I really would never want to go back to the OG triforce shards for example.

It does look a bit derpy, yeah.
Re: Talking Point: Did All The Switch 2 Leaks 'Damage' Nintendo Or The Console's Reveal?
You say as if every news website (this one included) wasn't trying to squeeze every drop of information it could get from said leaks.
Could hardly call them leaks at that point, more like a faucet.
Re: Poll: So, What Did You Think Of The Switch 2 Reveal?
It was neat. Need more information though.

Forever Entertainment? Really? The same guys who did the Panzer Dragoon and House of the Dead remake?
There was no else better, I mean come on.
Re: Review: Donkey Kong Country Returns HD (Switch) - Aping A Retro Classic
I thought Luigi's mansion 2 HD was quite bare, even looking at the comparisons it seems that, that game got a bigger makeover compared to this game.
It doesn't look all that much better to me than previous versions of this game.

Re: Donkey Kong Country Returns HD Showcases 'A Barrelful Of Details' In New Trailer
For this being an HD release, it really doesn't particularly look it. They can't all be Metroid Prime levels, but we can do a bit better than this.
Re: Poll: So, Will You Be Getting Donkey Kong Country Returns HD For Switch?
Out of everything Nintendo had announced this was probably the least interesting. We are overdue for a new Donkey Kong game.

Re: Sonic X Shadow Generations Surpasses One Million Sales In Opening Weekend
While it is, nice it is sort of unfortunate that one of Sonic's better games is just a re-release of game that was already good.
Sure there's extra content, but new Sonic games are still hit or miss if the Superstars and Frontiers are anything to go by.

Re: Talking Point: With 'Switch 2' Coming, Will Switch Get A Price Cut?
I sort of doubt it. They haven't had one during the entire Switch's lifespan and Nintendo has made a gazillion dollars.
It is still selling so no reason to slash the price. Maybe sometime after the Switch 2 comes out. Otherwise, I do not think so.
