Re: Nintendo Switch 2 US Pre-Orders Start 24th April, System & Launch Game Pricing Unchanged

ShonenJump121

For once, I would say that this one launch you probably don't need to wait on if nothing else. At least in the U.S with tariffs and everything, there is a high chance that the Switch 2 will increase in price in the future.

Taking that into consideration, guess its better to get it now rather than wait later. Sure, an OLED model will probably drop later on and other special editions, but who knows what the economic situation will look at that point?

Re: Opinion: The Switch 2 Is A Powerhouse For The Price

ShonenJump121

I'm a bit mixed. I just don't think the hybrid console appeal is as high as it was with the original Switch.

Look, I get it it was never going to hit that some of same wow factor because its been out for a good several years and we have other handhelds in the PC landscape as well now.

The biggest deal I think will be the 1st party offerings. If Nintendo was able to push out games like TOTK and BOTW on old hardware like the Switch, imagine what they could do now on the Switch 2.

Re: 'Switch 2' Is Projected To Be The "Clear Winner" In The Next Console Generation

ShonenJump121

@johnedwin I've kind of said this before, but Sony/Microsoft are not competition with Nintendo given their audiences are quit different.

Someone who wants to play GTA6 isn't picking up a Switch. Probably an Xbox or a PlayStation and its been like this since the Wii I would say. I don't think Nintendo has anything to worry about as long as they don't flub it up like the Wii U.

I'M worried about Xbox, they need to be competitive with PlayStation so that they don't have other side of the market to themselves. The guys that only play call of duty, sports games and stuff like that.

I don't want the only option for games that don't come to Nintendo's platform to be just PlayStation or PC.

Re: Feature: 9 Things Nintendo Could Add To Switch 2 So It's Not 'Just Another Switch'

ShonenJump121

More power/ is really the main thing and that's a given, since the hardware will be newer. Faceplates would be cool, sure. Other things, I am neutral on such as Streetpass I don't care whether they implement it or not I never used it on 3DS.

Heck, the Switch as it is has all these implementations in the joycons but its been barely utilized. Such as the IR sensor, which I am sure many people have forgotten even exists on those things.

Re: Eiji Aonuma Explains Why Zelda's Gameplay Takes Priority Over Story

ShonenJump121

I don't get the criticism that a game cannot have both things or that story is less relevant. There's enough complexity to video games as source of interactive media that boiling down to saying gameplay is better than story is far too surface level.

Visual novels as a genre are not known for their gameplay. You wouldn't call those games bad because those games prioritize story over gameplay. Some games don't intend on focusing on its story telling. Mario and Donkey Kong games have never been about that.

RPGs sometimes can focus on both stories and gameplay. Nintendo has done this themselves with the Xenoblade series. I would say that many Zelda games do have solid stories. Perhaps simple, but that doesn't mean that they are bad by nature.

Reading a book does not give the same experience as experiencing and watching the events happen through the character's perspective.

Re: English Box Art For Famicom Detective Club Remakes Spotted In Official Nintendo Graphic

ShonenJump121

It would be nice because the digital versions barely ever go on sale and if there was a physical option it certainly would; to say nothing of the second-hand market.

I think the two remakes have been on sale maybe once. I don't know why they would make the two remakes digital only and then Emio gets the physical treatment. It's not like Emio is any less niche than the two remakes.

Re: So, Will You Be Listening To The New Mobile App Nintendo Music?

ShonenJump121

Well, I don't have NSO and I haven't really seen a need to get it considering I don't play a lot of multiplayer games so I guess not for me.

If it didn't require NSO to use it I'd give it a try. Also, the starting selection is pretty bad. Nintendo has such a massive catalogue of music, I feel like they could've given us more than that to start with.

Re: Nintendo's Xenoblade Chronicles Dev Monolith Soft Is Now 25 Years Old

ShonenJump121

I never would've thought the Xenoblade franchise would expand the way that it did back during the Wii days I sadly thought Xenoblade Chronicles would go down as one of those forgotten Nintendo games during that era as that wasn't uncommon back then.

I could not have guesses that it would be even a fraction as large as it is now. There catalouge is impressive given that no one seemed to talk about them before Xenoblade Chronicles aside from Xenosaga.

Baten Kaitos has seen a sort of new life given the new ports, but that DB RPG they developed on the DS was quite good as well.

Re: Zelda: Echoes Of Wisdom's Frame Rate Is "Even Worse" Than Link's Awakening

ShonenJump121

I really don't think its fair to push aside other peoples issue with framerate, just because its not something that you personally care about. If it bothers other people then that's just as valid as not caring at all about it.

Its odd that this game would be so performance heavy given that it doesn't look nearly as impressive as BOTW/TOTK.

Given that Link's awakening had similar problems, maybe its Grezzo on the line here. It is disappointing given all they had to do was lock the framerate to 30.
