Re: Nintendo Showcases Every Direct Game In A New Infographic

Ryu_Niiyama

@Bizzyb I’ve been ignoring the Negative Nelsons since my second year here. The output for switch 2 (and even switch at this point) is both consistent and varied along with games releasing day date as other systems. That is wonderful.

All I can say is stack your money or go into the kidney selling business…we have a lot of games to buy and enjoy.

Re: Nintendo Showcases Every Direct Game In A New Infographic

Ryu_Niiyama

The sound you hear is the death knell of my bank account. This list isn’t even everything they showed.

27 entries are a yes
5 are a maybe.

I’m still buying games from like 7 directs ago. Ugh. If Nintendo plans to release a Zelda edition for OoT, Ima lose it. Edit: My time at evershine dropped a trailer. Anybody wanna buy a kidney?

Re: Nintendo Direct June 2026: Every Announcement, Game Reveal & Trailer

Ryu_Niiyama

Muramasa, FE, Onimusha and Dragon’s Dogma 2 pretty much beat my bank account up and tossed the body into a dumpster. However adding the other games that were announced, added to and given release dates?!

You ever get so excited your brain factory resets to neutral so you don’t pass out? I’m there. I’m numb, but because it was so great my brain started turning off light switches. I almost feel like a kid again.

Considering I was VERY bummed after the new VF reveal (trying to stay positive though) this was a needed breath of fresh air for me.

This is gonna be an expensive console for me. I straight up need a second job because there are too many games to buy. I think Nintendo is trying to see if they can top my Switch library size.

Re: Reaction: A Direct That Picked Up Pace For A Breathtaking Finish

Ryu_Niiyama

Fantastic Direct! Capcom fricken swept! Many games I’d given up on seeing on Nintendo and or didn’t dare hope for are on the way (Onimusha and Dragon’s Dogma 2)! New games and expansions feels like we are getting parity. Games I was already excited for I got more information about and lots of unexpected surprises. I didn’t expect a new xenoblade, the new atelier game looks good, didn’t expect FF to go back to 2D, MURAMASA has come back home and I was honestly so hyped by the time they got to Zelda I was out of energy (I’m starting to get curious though as I didn’t know about the leak).

My backlog (and wishlist) is crushing me so I will likely only get Onimusha and FE this year but wooo next year is already looking full for me. I really, really need a second job. I’m gonna cry when Nintendo releases the logo sheet.

Re: Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave Price And Box Art Revealed

Ryu_Niiyama

That is gorgeous. Almost makes me want to buy physical. Almost. Also I say again, vindication for Sothis restored!!!!! (Also I know this game is gonna torpedo my understanding of the lore. But I am wondering if the center figures are Byleth separated from Sothis/ascended in some way. )

Really need a good discount on 1TB cards this year.

Re: Onimusha: Way Of The Sword & Dragon's Dogma 2 Coming To Switch 2 This Year

Ryu_Niiyama

@Tyranexx While DD2 is in many ways a soft reboot (literally points that out in the title screen lol) I personally think the feel of the world and the weave of its mythos makes more sense if you play the first one (and it is usually cheap). DD2 does imo go out of its way to explain itself though. However you can walk in with 2 and be fine. Just some stuff will hit differently.

Re: Onimusha: Way Of The Sword & Dragon's Dogma 2 Coming To Switch 2 This Year

Ryu_Niiyama

I love you Capcom. I was all resigned to buy Onimusha on Series X and here you come with the SAVE! Also expansion to Dragon’s Dogma 2?! YES! Inject it into my veins! Gonna have to copy my arisen and pawn. I loved DD2 and played through it twice. Maybe I will change romances this time around. I love how the cycle is kinda broken at this point but the world (trying to avoid spoilers here) keeps trying to make folks play their part.

I hope they remove the nerf on Dragonsplague. I liked when you had to sleep with one eye open around pawns.

Re: Feature: 40 Games We'd Love To See On Switch 2

Ryu_Niiyama

@DonutPie Lol I had to squint to remember what this thread was about. You mentioned the MGS series and didn’t give a specific game in your OG comment so I responded accordingly. That being said it will likely be next gen (as in PS6/Helix and Switch 2/3) when Vol 3 comes out so I would look for the V games (ground zeros and phantom pain) at that point. So 2028-2030 maybe?

Re: Opinion: By Definition, Pokémon TCG Is No Longer A Hobby

Ryu_Niiyama

I just saw a youtube video where a paper expert was appraising pokemon cards and trying to detect frauds. And all I could think was “this is what we have come to now?” Pokemon is the new diamond industry. A lot of it is money laundering and scalping and inflated value.

I am all for hobbies, I have too many that are expensive myself. (Taiko alone is a mint to maintain. )

It’s the zealotry and greed that frightens me.

Re: Nintendo Direct Announced For Tomorrow, 9th June 2026

Ryu_Niiyama

@LastFootnote Last year was switch 2 launch season and there was still a direct in June. Which waiting for announcements still would have prepared a person for. So I don’t understand why you tagged me.

Don’t break your fingers trying to “well actually” someone.

Re: Opinion: Mario Kart World Deserves Its Flowers, So Let's Stop Comparing It To MK8 Deluxe

Ryu_Niiyama

Shrugs. I remember all the complaints during the wiiu era (and during 8 deluxe’s run. The DLC track reveals were always a complaint fest) so for me each mario kart has been its own thing. Especially since I still play 8’s battle mode. I love world and for me it gave the kart series a reason for constant engagement that the others don’t have. I have no idea how Nintendo is gonna top free roam later. There is so much to do and little silly unexpected things that happen.

Re: Horror Specialist Bloober Team Is Releasing A New Star Trek Game On Switch 2

Ryu_Niiyama

Ro Lauren! Wassup! I don’t like horror but considering her history (Bajor internment camp, Maquis membership) this feels apt. Totally gonna get this.

I probably should sit down and watch Picard. TNG was the show where like TOS I found the Captain boring (nobody @ me) but adored the supporting cast.

Star Trek games have been solid B and C tier for about a decade now. I’m a fan.

Edited for clarity and removed rambling.

Re: Feature: Switch 2, Year One - How Closely Did Nintendo Follow Its Own Playbook?

Ryu_Niiyama

@Dman10 shrugs 7 isn’t 13. You can be that guy, but your rebuttal is irrelevant to my comment. I didn’t mention sales numbers of individual games. My post is discussing variety and maintaining steady output. Which Nintendo maintains with a steady rotation of games of various sizes and budgets (I already mentioned game dev rotation to keep output steady during dev cycles of various sizes). My post isn’t an attack. It is an assessment. Neutral tone beyond my inability as a consumer to keep up with the games out.

So, I’m not sure the point of your comment (or rather why you tagged me). Perhaps you tagged the wrong person?

Edit to generally address a point you made: however Sony was much better than they are now at deving and publishing games in the ps4 era with similar dev times and (with correction for inflation similar budgets) and in the PS5 era like Nintendo had with switch, had many lower budget options for port/remaster. However Sony is producing far less 1st party output or publishing while Nintendo has steadily been increasing its dev and publishing output. Also WiiU saw about 50 1st party dev and published games in NA (more if you include JPN exclusives) and that ratio is quite high considering the low ROI the WiiU was.

Re: 007 First Light "Year One" Roadmap Revealed, Reconfirms Switch 2 Release Window

Ryu_Niiyama

At this point I will wait until the content is done (wanted to buy in launch window) because I don’t want to buy only to have some content not show up for switch 2. (as this has happened with other games and it never bodes well when the Nintendo version gets a delay after an original parity announcement).

Once the support is done, I can make an informed decision.

Edit for clarity.

Re: Feature: Switch 2, Year One - How Closely Did Nintendo Follow Its Own Playbook?

Ryu_Niiyama

Don’t agree with the playbook concept as it is based on reading the tea leaves and not internal information. It is more steps to the unrealistic hype/expectations to unrealistic outrage cycle that happens every Direct. I keep more flexible and surface level hopes that deepen, develop or discard as I gain factual information. Far less disappointment and way more joy that way.

13 first party titles. That is insane output for a company that is dev, publisher and console manufacturer (that is a lot of marketing budget to shell out). MS and Sony simply don’t do this. Not to mention the mobile games, apps, game updates/refreshes and services. Every game isn’t to everyone’s taste, but there is something for everyone. Add the 3rd party support and it is a flood of games.

I think the WiiU years solidified their dev cycle internally (I personally enjoyed the wiiu. It is still my favorite system. Switch family is catching up though.) Nintendo really learned after mostly supporting the wiiu alone how to keep multiple irons in the fire. It’s good for employee growth as well as it keeps devs on rotation or support.

And for my genre buffet self… too many games!

I love that Nintendo keeps trying new things in addition to old faithfuls. Keeps me invested in their ecosystem.
