My plan is kunitsugami, SF6, welcome tour and nobunaga’s ambition to be my launch games and whenever VF comes out. Otherwise I still have switch games to buy. I will probably try the upgrade games to figure out what to double dip digitally. Since my switch has 2.5 TB it’s easier to continue to buy games there and transfer what has an upgrade to switch 2 as needed.
Not gonna lie, I bought it to beat out any tariffs induced price hike (amiibo and accessories were enough) but the fact that many of the games that I have yet to purchase yet have upgrades and a lot of ports I dreamed of are either launch or launch window makes me especially glad I took the plunge instead of waiting. The recent state of play is proof I that I will be moving back to Nintendo/PC for this (switch 2 and beyond ) gen and that this is likely my final console anyway due to age. So glad I had a smooth pick up and can’t wait to play in august!
@Maxz hmm never used 竪 before. New kanji learned! Thank you. Lmao I could see someone making a pop up experience that looks like your pics. Thanks for the verification. I will give that article a read. I can’t really buy books (I prefer physical) from Japan now that the de minimus exception is gone. So I am back to saving to raid kinokuniya (which imo has a poor selection in the US) and whatever scraps the local Japanese language school offloads. I’d been improving my reading again (I can’t stay in practice enough to not get rusty) so having an article to translate is nice. Thank you again.
The wait until august is gonna hurt but it is what it is.
Edit: the amount of stuff you can do in this game is nuts. It feels like it is a mario game that got told last second it was to be a kart game. I mean that as a compliment. I haven’t even started racing yet. Just wandering around unlocking outfits and on occasion starting the collection items (there is so much to do I really just focus on the costumes and coins to unlock vehicles). I normally hit a wall with mario kart games after I beat all the cups. The free roam makes the game endless.
I miss the social aspect of launches. Folks round my neck of the woods are stiff boards. I literally got so annoyed/bored that I hyped up the preorder line. I suppose I looked nuts: middle aged lady cheering on folks as they placed their preorders.
@LEGEND_MARIOID Same. My launch joycons got drift. All the others I own did not. I think my first non launch pair was the neon green so around luigi’s mansion 3 launch? I have 3 other pairs. All work fine.
I’m not an engineer (While I work hardware for my job, I don’t have the need to take things apart) so this is just making my anxiety go up. I am not voiding my warranty for the heck of it.
I no longer display my switch games but when I did I had a case like this for my favorites/now playing to make it a quick grab and load. (I now use a more compact case to leave in my travel case at all times. Sits next to my larger multi game cases.) I am not scanning 400-500 cases to find a game. Plus you can easily toss that in a bag when traveling. I just use multigame case holders exclusively now. Same reason I used to get the 3ds multigame cases from Nintendo. That case space can be used for disc/large cartridge based games.
If your library is small or you have a ton of room (my game collection is spread across two rooms and I am still out of space)I can see still using individual cases. But if you have several gens and a huge switch library or travel then compact, easy to store cases like this are the best.
I am not interested in the franchise (not a bond fan anymore) but I am excited at the prospect of a third person action game. Would likely get on deep sale if it is good.Curious about the MI6 characters though.
Better is good enough for me. I didn’t really have many issues with EOW. So it will just be smoother to me. Best part is both games are short enough for a replay.
@Friendly I am hoping it is just due to review embargos and not fishing for clickbait. We are starting to see some other reviews. Hopefully tomorrow and Friday will focus on other games.
@NinChocolate oh that is just a no kunai/no shuriken run. Folks were doing that on the original game (you can adjust the shurikens in the original game). Same with a no ninjutsu run (which is how I play). Doesn’t really change the gameplay as it is within the bounds of gameplay design. You can beat the game like that. I didn’t find that fun personally but that isn’t what I was talking about. Does make it feel a little more like a more acrobatic revenge or shadow dancer though.
Either way time will tell on release day how the new game feels. At this point I will wait and see. My hype is gone but I have no desire to kick this game. (I am perfectly capable after making a personal observation to not rain on anyone’s parade) I am happy SEGA remembered shinobi at all. I just won’t be really commenting on future articles until I have the game in hand.
@NinChocolate I love Shinobi 3DS because it lifts so heavily from Shinobi 3 (my favorite game in the series). Especially after coming off of Shinobi PS2 and Nightshade/kunoichi. I don’t think the PS2 games were a particularly bad adaptation of Shinobi gameplay to 3D but I simply wanted what legends didn’t provide (legends isn’t bad. But it feels less smooth) : a smooth continuous paced projectile arcade inspired platformer that built on Shinobi 3’s mechanics. 3DS provided that feeling for the most part. It is worth playing alongside the games it iterates from. Same as shinobi 3’s predecessors are worth playing despite 3 pivoting even more away from the arcade feel while still having it as a foundation. I am looking for shinobi 4 for a simple way to put it. This doesn’t so far look like it to me. Doesn’t make it a bad game though nor have I stated that it was. Simply that my, personal and solely my own, hype has gone down based on what I saw.
As far as the studios in general I have not commented on that. So I have no opinion besides it is obvious they worked hard on the game (my trepidation doesn’t take away from that). I simply want a sequel that feels like Shinobi. So far this doesn’t look to meet that. Again, looks like a good ninja game but doesn’t look like a shinobi game. I disagree about the “reboot of [your] dreams” comment. Reboots, sequels and spiritual successors happen all the time. Many which capture the gameplay of what they are iterating/rebooting. I love the wild era Zelda games because they, to me still have the gameplay loop I associate with Zelda, even if they packaged it totally differently. So I think you are missing the crux of my comment. It simply means that for me the aspects that are being honed in on aren’t what makes shinobi resonate for me (a lot of folks feel playing as Joe is pivotal for instance as with the Hotsuma backlash meanwhile I don’t care) so I will continue to wait for someone to hone in on the aspects I described.
@speed_loafer I am hoping but the explanation on Nintendo’s FAQ seems vague so I hope perhaps someone will test and report back. I can’t use my switch 2 day 1 unfortunately. Otherwise I would test. I do hope it works as my plan is for my Switch 2 to be digital only but many of the updated games I have physically. So looking for the best way forward.
Does any one know if the updates work with virtual game cards? Like can I transfer a game from my switch to switch 2 and use the enhanced update? If so that is gonna save me a lot of money.
@Tyranexx No Problem. Been playing that way for decades… it’s fun imo. I still have a computer that can run the old chessmaster 9000 game and that’s my favorite AI opponent ( I use modern games as well). When I was a teen I had a small cheap chessboard (the nice marble board belonged to my elder brother ) next to my monitor. Now I have a chess table on the right side of my couch. Used to play mental chess (we kept a sheet of paper that we updated with the moves at the start and end of class) against a buddy in high school. Taught me the chess notation way faster that way. While you can find folks to play chess with IRL it’s super hard to find shogi players that way so still my favorite way to get in a game. Plus it is easier on my eye.
Edit. I just realized how many of my hobbies are my brother’s fault. That man owes me money. (video games and reading are straight up my mother’s fault though.)
I never understand the “it needs a story” complaints. But that’s probably because I noodled around in games before open world was a thing. Exploring, making up things to do. Games for me are tools of imagination but never replacements. Haven’t been this excited for a Mario Kart in a long time. Gonna be hanging out around water and snow areas.
I’m buying it for kicks and giggles. Also Nintendo minigames tweak my brain way more than they should. Played way too much wii play back in the day. So for me this is simply a cheap (cost) launch game. Although NintendoLand 2 would be welcomed.
I will get one eventually when a nice LE comes out. In the meantime I am using a switch joycon set. I don’t know why but I don’t like using the joycons from the system itself unless handheld. I think I like the docked with joycons profile.
@sethfranum it’s USAopoly. They are quickly mass produced board games. Be it zelda, mario or lord of the rings. This is a common practice for an entry level novelty chess set. This is not a collector’s level set as those cost hundreds of dollars (example: street fighter anniversary set was Edit: found my order paid around 150 and it’s heavy as heck.). This is a novelty set to give to a fan with an interest in chess. The “worth” of the product is subjective to the buyer. Have a nice day.
Uh oh. Lowers my hype a bit. Shinobi in general is a 1-2 hit speed platformer (I see a few one hit kills but it looks really spaced out). Re: Review: Street Fighter 6: Years 1-2 Fighters Edition (Switch 2) - Just One Caveat Holds Back Capcom's Finest
There were complaints about world tour on other systems so this isn’t a switch 2 issue. Push square made an article about it.

Either way I will be picking up when I open my switch 2 in august.

@DwaynesGames Nice! My pickup was quiet but I wanted that. Just got back from GameStop. Into the storage unit it goes!

It’s a tour of the system’s full functionality. Makes sense it would require the parts that leverage that. Good thing it is an optional purchase.

@DwaynesGames I don’t know the actual answer but I would assume yoko (横) since that is the word for horizontal. But somebody correct me if I am wrong.
Re: PSA: Switch 2's Flashy New Kickstand Is Perfect For TATE Mode Play
@gwyntendo so it is the conjugated form of 立つ(tatsu) also written 発つ, which means to stand (vertically).
Japanese pros, correct me if I am wrong please. Kanji isn’t my strong suit.
