This game was a lot of fun, I 100%ed it on PC around Christmas last year, now trawling through rebirth. I'm excited for those who have yet to play this, it's worth the storage space. But I'll be finishing the trilogy on PC personally, where it's really not even a concern.
I thought this one was certainly one of the stronger tales games of late. Well, my favourite is probably still Vesperia, and I would probably put arise and Symphonia underneath, and then probably berseria. Then it probably gets murky for me, I've played a few others (abyss, xillia 1 and zesteria from what I recall) but they all fall down to the bottom for me. Maybe I'd buy this if it came with switch 2 enhancements....
Kids and those who don't think about how their games are made, or about the quality of their games, probably don't notice the ai slop. Anyone with a bit more of a discerning eye probably does. And I'm not saying that using AI automatically leads to slop, but it sure as hell helps to generate slop.
That's besides all the more ethical issues, which I'm sure many of those arguments have already been listed on countless articles and comment sections
I never played the original so no nostalgia there.
I struggled to enjoy this in the test ride initially, thinking it was just far too hectic and unfocussed. I played a bit more to see if I could find something a bit deeper, but it still eludes me. That said, I did slightly warm up to the game itself, it had moments of fun. Maybe other modes in the full game would grab me more.
I think I am one of those that was put off by the test ride though. I might have bought this, but knowing what I know now, certainly not for full or close to full price.
I haven't bought the new one yet, I still need to finish age of calamity. I might be in the minority, but I'm waiting for a patch to upgrade aoc on switch 2 first, I'm struggling to find the motivation to play it without. Though I wonder if that's never going to come, I'm not sure how much we can expect in terms of old games getting upgraded.
Then maybe I'll see about buying the new one when I'm done with the old one - I'm in no rush.
I never really cared much for Xbox, but years ago it had exclusives that drew me to the platform. I bought a series s early on, but that's a glorified streaming box now. I did have gamepass for a couple of years, but I came to the conclusion that I wasn't playing enough of the games to warrant continuing, and it annoyed me several times when a game I was playing would come out of the service. Now I'll just stick to buying my games.
And I have a PC and switch 2. There are fewer and fewer Xbox studio games I care about nowadays, I'll just buy those on steam now. I have a switch 2 because of the exclusives that I know will come, not because I value the brand or platform more than anything else.
So maybe I win in this deal anyway as I don't have to buy every console to play the games I want to play.
A little sad to say I have no plans to buy this. It's the first one that I consider to be somewhat mainstream that I've not bought at launch. I fell off hard on the switch era, like a lot of others for similar reasons.
I do still have violet to play through on my switch 2, even to this day I've only managed about an hour of gameplay in it. Maybe if I can get through that, I might move on eventually...
I have 3d all stars for galaxy 1 and I still have my Wii copy of galaxy 2. That said, the Wii is in the loft and I would like to play the game again with the enhancements. But not for the price they are going at. Not sure how Metroid Prime was so on point with the price and this is so far beyond that.
Not sure there was a single reason to not show collectibles already found on the map, from a gameplay perspective. Such a simple feature will go a long way in actually getting a lot of people to enjoy looking for things when they can see clearly where there are big gaps.
Maybe the cardboard version, I'll also wait and see if this can be done DIY. Though it looks like the idea there is that you hold the switch up to your face with the cardboard just on it somehow... Sounds rather flimsy, and probably exhausting
Wow ok. I've not had time to finish of everything I wanted in the main game yet, but maybe I'll get this to make it easier to go back to? This coming out so soon tells me that it's mostly cut content from the main game... But then again the main game was expansive enough that I'm not too fussed.
Single player content? I have a feeling this will be one of these more expensive switch 2 upgrades, and I'm not sure I want it just for multiplayer that I won't touch.
I love this on PC. I don't think I'll be buying again, but I'm happy to have confirmation that it'll finally be out of early access and hopefully I'll be ready to pick this up again after silksong!
The game looks very charming. But I am not super convinced about the gameplay, these yoshi games have all been so watered down. Last one I kind of enjoyed I think was yoshi island 2...
Why isn't this just being added to all stars? Would have been nice for Nintendo to make that available again, but I'm guessing they are trying to make that 'special' by not having it be available...
Unfortunately I imagine the odd uninformed parent or young child may pick this up, and maybe they'll have half an hour of wacky fun with this. But probably not.
I remember that was me as a child - I had access to Bubsy 1 on SNES and just remember feeling like I liked the character, but nothing much past that. I can vividly remember some of those cheap deaths, and admittedly I didn't think I ever got past those first fee levels anyway.
The way I'm seeing this is just that team cherry are super lucky, super talented and super deserving of all the accolades and money coming their way. They shouldn't be subject to what other developers think pricing should look like just because it makes them look bad. If anything, it should be a kick for them to re-evaluate the quality of their own output if it scares them.
And yeah, that's probably a tough pill for most, as getting to the level of team cherry with Hollow Knight is going to be insanely difficult, nigh on unfeasible for most.
That's not to say I don't see the argument the other way. It's similar to how companies like Ubisoft are seen devaluing games so quickly that it's warped public perception such that people won't pay full price for brand new releases.
I'm somewhat interested in getting this remake, but probably not for full price. If they want me to pay that, make a new game and make it good. This kind of comment just makes me not want to support the business - spend money on this (IMO) lazy looking remake just to potentially have to spend more money for a new game?
If you just want to test the waters, and see if there is an appetite, I would have much preferred new content, even if it was a smaller project for half the price.
I dunno. 4 hours of content is not much, but at the same time, there is a very decent chance I'll actually enjoy those hours and end up completing it all. This would have been a no brainer at maybe half the price. It really should have been updated res/fps for free and only charging for the additional content (because honestly, the current strategy of sometimes charging for res and fps bumps is not clear).
I feel like at this price the only reason I might buy this is because I'm done with all my other switch 2 experiences. But it's the difference between being ecstatic about my purchase and being kinda ok with it.
It's obviously just a cash grab including all of these other characters, and honestly sounds like it lowers the overall quality of the game. I'd much rather just a solid core set of Sonic characters. Dlc is fine, but only if they integrate properly (there is surely lots they can do with exclusively sonic ip)
And that unfortunately even goes as someone who would only pick the Sonic characters myself. It sounds rubbish if I'm in a race with loads of other characters that won't interact with mine to the same degree.
It looks great... But honestly they would have kept this one back for a couple more years if you ask me when Mario Kart World had been out for long enough. A smaller, very different game would have been perfect for this spot if you ask me.
Definitely got enjoyment out of the first game on the SNES when I was growing up. Never played the others, and I've not heard great things, so I'll probably pass
I don't understand why various publishers are offering upgrades on some games, but totally separate games on another. It's really off putting - I feel like I won't be buying any switch 1 games anymore until I find out the situation with switch 2 upgrades
I feel like it should be standard to provide upgrades if content is on switch 1 and 2. Make it paid for if you absolutely must, but this is going to put people off buying games. It's certainly putting me off.
More than ports please. I've played everything I want to play on other platforms, and I'm certainly not buying £50 versions of something I can get for a fraction of that with better performance on PC.
Maybe I'm just not the target audience for this since I've invested heavily in PC gaming... I might have to just stick to the exclusives
I used these fairly often but have slowed down recently. Think Mario and Luigi Brothership was the last one I got with one. Will probably get a couple more for Metroid prime 4, but I don't know what other game I'll get with the spare. And I'm not sure buying more for undisclosed games in 2026 is a good idea... Maybe if some decent sounding switch games are announced for that period...
Around 10 hours for me. Admittedly this is really not the game I was hoping it would be. It's 'just' another Mario Kart, free roam could have been killer but they did nothing with it.
It's got to happen. The problem for me is that as is, it's going to slowly eat more and more space of mine over time, and there are certainly some games from this library I'd like to keep on my switch at all times. Many not so much. But am I eventually going to have to start uninstalling other games to allow this monster to keep growing, sometimes even when it's not going to benefit me? No, just make the app a small shell that gives me the ability to download only the games I want. Please Nintendo
Really it's down to prices for me. For games that have been out for years.
I've got MKW as it was bundled (and really the game I bought this machine for upfront, a long with first parties that come along eventually), then also Fast Fusion and Bravely default because they were both a fair bit cheaper (in the realms of about £10-£15 each once I'd paid).
Cyberpunk I'm sure is impressive, and I still need to actually play it. But with my PC outclassing my switch, and it costing about a third of the price, I'll just get it there. I also kind of want SF6 but again, it just feels so pricey.
For me the game key card argument doesn't really come into it. Sure it would be nicer to have the whole game on the cart, but I don't really care. The main factor for me buying physical is usually that I might want to sell it down the line, and they've resolved that for me.
Screen protectors people, really. That paranoid feeling of ruining the screen just diminishes once you have one on. And if you get a decent quality one, I find i actually prefer using it to not having one on in a lot of cases!
I'm enjoying the game a lot. I played the first two chapters years ago on 3ds so I can barely remember it. Though it probably helps that I got it for less than £10 (after mucking about with some Argos vouchers).
Certainly wish the visuals were upgraded more though. Does feel like I'm playing a 3ds game, just in hd to be frank.
I don't know how to feel. I want to be optimistic that this is going to be great (it looks like it could well be). But after MKW's lackluster direct, for a game that supposedly is worth more than this, I'm not feeling highly confident. That launched, and yeah, it was basically what was in the direct. Though Nintendo is pretty random with their pricing sometimes.
That said, it would be nice if they dedicate a minute or so to Mario Kart World - There's obviously a gap in costumes for DK and it would at least give us an indication that actually they are planning to improve that game over time. I want to love MKW but it feels like it's missing so many small things currently.
DK absolutely deserves a proper 3D outing again. I'd be happy basically with DK Odyssey
Well I was planning on being mostly digital anyway so not a problem for me. I'm more worried about the negative effect this will have on the industry at large, and we're going to get companies blaming 'poor sales of game carts on switch 2' as a reason to stop releasing further games. There seem to be a lot of people unhappy with this
There's no way. I can't see this being true, unless they've somehow messed up so bad that Switch 2 edition saves are for some reason incompatible with Switch 1 versions (that would super suck). This just flies in the face of the digital game cartridge thing - one step forward, and one major step back if I can't just continue on either of my switch console generations.
And then DK not supporting it makes even less sense. Come on Nintendo. Don't let this be true
My take is that there just isn't a solution that makes everyone happy. If we're not realistically going to see smaller games that fit on cheap versions of the cards too often then you're only choices are to either fork out for a larger capacity cartridge, or do something like this. And I don't personally care for paying over and over again for that storage space, so this (key cards) or just fully digital seem the way to go for me.
Yeah yeah, twenty or thirty years from now I might not have access to some of this stuff. But I'll have moved on largely at that point.
I'm glad I'm not getting hung up on having to have a physical collection of games (mixed digital and physical for me since the 3DS) as this would probably upset me more. I usually buy physical if I know I'll resell later, so this still works ok for me (in fact it's better if it means I can do this with more games). And with internet speeds becoming faster (and hopefully the switch 2 hardware being able to keep up) swapping downloads on the system should become a much smaller issue for a lot of people.
@Olmectron I worded my first comment poorly - I meant I don't see why bravely default couldn't just be a Switch 1 game that got a resolution/FPS bump on Switch 2 (other than to try to drive adoption for the new console)
I thought the same with bravely default, that these games don't really feel like we need switch 2 editions... I expect we'll maybe see resolution bumps and possibly better performance (even if it just means a cooler running system with longer battery life).
I'm pretty sure any existing gold points in your accounts will not expire on this date, that's not changing. It's just the date you can earn them from what I understand, so don't feel like you have to rush to use them before this date (they still have the year long expiry)
I do want a switch 2 but I feel like they should continue supporting switch 1 throughout the switch 2 lifetime. There are still loads of games coming out all over that you'd figure should run fine on switch 1 hardware - why exclude that part of the market? Reserve switch 2 exclusivity for games that won't run on switch 1 hardware at an acceptable level.
Of course I only want that future in the idealistic version of this timeline where switch 1 titles will scale to switch 2 hardware.

Re: Uh Oh, It Looks Like Select Switch 2 Games Won't Support Cloud Saves
There's no way. I can't see this being true, unless they've somehow messed up so bad that Switch 2 edition saves are for some reason incompatible with Switch 1 versions (that would super suck). This just flies in the face of the digital game cartridge thing - one step forward, and one major step back if I can't just continue on either of my switch console generations.
And then DK not supporting it makes even less sense. Come on Nintendo. Don't let this be true
Re: "We MUST Resist Buying These Game-Key Releases", Says GamesMaster Host
My take is that there just isn't a solution that makes everyone happy. If we're not realistically going to see smaller games that fit on cheap versions of the cards too often then you're only choices are to either fork out for a larger capacity cartridge, or do something like this. And I don't personally care for paying over and over again for that storage space, so this (key cards) or just fully digital seem the way to go for me.
Yeah yeah, twenty or thirty years from now I might not have access to some of this stuff. But I'll have moved on largely at that point.
Re: Switch 2 Game-Key Cards Aren't Tied To Nintendo Accounts
I'm glad I'm not getting hung up on having to have a physical collection of games (mixed digital and physical for me since the 3DS) as this would probably upset me more. I usually buy physical if I know I'll resell later, so this still works ok for me (in fact it's better if it means I can do this with more games). And with internet speeds becoming faster (and hopefully the switch 2 hardware being able to keep up) swapping downloads on the system should become a much smaller issue for a lot of people.
Re: Konami Appears To Be Releasing Suikoden I & II HD Remaster On Switch 2
@Olmectron
I worded my first comment poorly - I meant I don't see why bravely default couldn't just be a Switch 1 game that got a resolution/FPS bump on Switch 2 (other than to try to drive adoption for the new console)
Re: Konami Appears To Be Releasing Suikoden I & II HD Remaster On Switch 2
I thought the same with bravely default, that these games don't really feel like we need switch 2 editions... I expect we'll maybe see resolution bumps and possibly better performance (even if it just means a cooler running system with longer battery life).
Re: PSA: Nintendo Reminds Us It's Winding Down Gold Points Next Week
I'm pretty sure any existing gold points in your accounts will not expire on this date, that's not changing. It's just the date you can earn them from what I understand, so don't feel like you have to rush to use them before this date (they still have the year long expiry)
Re: Nintendo Talks About Future Switch Support Ahead Of Switch 2 Launch
I do want a switch 2 but I feel like they should continue supporting switch 1 throughout the switch 2 lifetime. There are still loads of games coming out all over that you'd figure should run fine on switch 1 hardware - why exclude that part of the market? Reserve switch 2 exclusivity for games that won't run on switch 1 hardware at an acceptable level.
Of course I only want that future in the idealistic version of this timeline where switch 1 titles will scale to switch 2 hardware.
