Loved haiku the robot on my steam deck, and have a number of the other titles in this sale already so I think I'm good, but there are some great little indies in here!
Not sure how many people still buy both copies nowadays. Me and my brother used to get one each when we were little and it made sense, but it really doesn't so much nowadays. Just make a single version of the game, for the love of god. Any enhancements can be added later on with DLC.
On the one hand, certain people are using yuzu to pirate. This almost certainly loses Nintendo money.
On the other hand, I'd really like to be able to play my games at higher resolutions or frame rates, especially given I've got hardware far more capable than the switch. Ideally they go the Microsoft or Sony way eventually and start porting to PC themselves. I've long since stopped buying third party switch games with the arrival of the steam deck because it's so much more flexible in how I play games.
I'm really letting the Pokemon games line up in my backlog... Just realized I haven't finished the pearl remake, the sword dlc, legends Arceus or Violet. Oh and new snap. And now gold might be coming? Not sure if I'm going off Pokemon at this point, I've never not finished a Pokemon game before the switch came out...
But gold/silver is probably my favorite entry, so it might be hard to resist...
Clicked thinking this was part of the tales of series, immediately disappointed.
I don't mind that it uses that name really, but it feels synonymous with 'that other series' to me, particularly with anime aesthetic video games. Feels like it's asking for confusion.
I'm still working through fire emblem engage, then I've got Xenoblade Chronicles 3 if I can stomach more rpg. Then the only release I'm looking forward to for the rest of the year is Paper Mario (another rpg) so I'm good on that front, hoping something else comes out or I'll be working through my steam backlog (also not a problem really!)
A lot of people chose between this and Mario Wonder. I imagine most people with a switch chose Wonder. I certainly did, I historically have enjoyed sonic as a franchise more than Mario, but it was still pretty clear that Mario looked like the better game, and I don't regret my choice.
Then those on other consoles have been fed well too this year. Honestly, this has just come along too expensive, too rushed looking and unfortunately (for this game anyway) at the tail end of a year chock full of awesome releases.
I still want the game. But I'll be waiting for it to drop in price. I can't see why it costs any more than mania did at launch.
Nintendo would be insane not too make the next switch backwards compatible. People are invested, and a fair few are probably on the tipping point of jumping ship if they have to start over AGAIN.
I've personally stopped buying all but the essential big hits on the switch because I'd rather have them elsewhere, where backwards compatibility is much more guaranteed (Steam deck/PC primarily). Even those big hitters, I'm playing slower, in the hopes that I can play improved versions on the next Nintendo console. I think for me, backwards compatible with some kind of upgrade path for currently owned games (preferably just free switch 2 updates) might be the most important feature to me at this point.
You don't want to be outclassed by hackers before the game releases, with 4k/60fps versions? Then make that a reality on your own hardware - close the gap and remove a large reason people want to play the games on other systems.
I will get the game I think, but as others have said, later on when it's on sale. It looks cool, but it just feels a tad expensive given I got pikmin 4 for the same price.
Unless we're talking about accidental damage repairs (which I'm not sure if this covers, and Nintendo would not fix for free) does this not indicate that there is an underlying quality issue if they are expecting up to six repairs per year?
I feel like GameCube games are really where the library exists for Nintendo to milk with remasters. We've already seen them start to do this - Metroid, Mario, now Pikmin. Arguably I think remakes of certain n64 games would do well if completely overwhelmed and actually remade rather than remastered, but I don't see that happening.
We're sooner going to get full releases of a number of Wii/GameCube games. We already have quite a few.
IF Nintendo don't make us start again on the next system, then I think I'm ok with this. I'd rather pay for some touched up classics than pay a massive amount for another subscription (let's be honest -if they did a subscription it would be another tier).
Also it would be a bit of a pain pointless for many of they keep remastering gc games and then just put a while bunch of them on there switch online collection.
Yeah, I actually stuck my original Joy cons back onto my switch for TotK because of the motion controls. Really do wish these would come with that, it's an important control mechanism.
No respect for those stealing the game, especially before it's even out.
But buying the game and giving yourself the choice of how to play it? I know that's blasphemous to Nintendo, but what did that matter once I've given you my money?
I quite enjoyed this when it first came out, but never got too far in it out played any of the sequels. Not sure I'd go back and play it now because of everything higher on my backlog
Still waiting for the game to not run rubbish. Do that and I'll see about buying the DLC. I shouldn't have bought the game, I should have listened to the reviews, but I really really want to just enjoy it
I wish they would properly remaster this game. From what I've seen, it looks like they've simply upscale everything to a higher res and left it at that. It might not be fair, but metroid prime has set the standard for me in terms of remasters.
Got about an hour into the game, just put it down cos I figured it either needs to have patches to fix the performance issues or I will eventually sell it. Wish I hadn't bought it so early, but I didn't quite believe that it was so bad.
Sucks cos I love pokemon, this is the only mainline game that I've ever put down without finishing.
It was a very good game. I played it from the start using gamepass but I think I dropped it before season 2 even came out. Then again, I do that with most multiplayer games, live service or not.
Glad I didn't pay for it, I did consider paying for the switch version at one point.
Nintendo gave us the switch and it's been great. But let's be honest - we're gonna see other devices that do what the switch does, arguably much better. I own a steam deck, and now only use the switch for games I can't get on there.
While I think it makes business sense to just make the switch 2, I'd personally like to see something new that only Nintendo would do. It's starting to feel like forever since we've genuinely had a new way to play (sure, handheld gaming of this caliber was and is very welcome and should be here to stay), but maybe it's time for something radical. Let the other companies push the boundaries of what could be possible with handheld gaming, and let Nintendo innovate. So long as the games it comes out with are good, but that's rarely been a problem.
I have one, ahh the memories. It was the only way I could get online to play Mario Kart DS online as we didn't have a wireless router when that came out. It was very awkward to use, but I loved it. Jump forward to the release of the wii, and I was still having to make use of it then to play those games online, and to even download wiiware/ wii vc games.
By that point I was pretty fed up with the problems it had, and never looked back once we finally got wireless broadband.
I am so glad this rated highly. I've been disappointed (bored?) with all the switch entries so far, and I'm hoping this saves me from giving up on the series
Gold/Silver were the absolute pinnacle. HG/SS recaptured that years later, and I don't believe I'll ever enjoy a Pokemon game as much any time in the future
Never touched a moba, so not sure I'm in this game's target audience other than it being pokemon. I'm sure this was inevitable though. This and the ability to pay money for pokemon that have large advantages over the rest. And I've seen the prices charged for pokemon micro transactions - it's insane.
I'll likely give it a go to confirm my doubts about the game itself, but almost certainly won't be giving them any money for a skin or an unlockable.
Some decent deals to be had. I personally went to the russian eshop to get a few of these (Luigis mansion and 51 worldwide games) for even further savings. Happy new year all!
If only there was a way to upgrade my digital wii u version to switch. Or the other load of first party wii u games I have that have been ported.
I appreciate work has gone into this release, but they already had my support on the last console. It's a good game, but they would probably have got more support from wii u owners if there was some kind of upgrade route. Not saying it should be free, but I feel £40 is a bit much for what this offers.
That said, maybe they are banking more on wii u owners double dipping at full price.
I played this on pc earlier this year and I was hooked. Great little game. Personally, I'd give it an 8 - though I can't comment on the quality of the switch release.
Wow, it makes me feel old. I was seven when I was desperately asking for this, trying to explain the difference between this and the other two versions me and my brother already had!

Not long until switch 3 rumors then!
Re: Sequel To Roguelike Hit Hades Enters Early Access With 'Overwhelmingly Positive' Reviews
Wouldn't usually buy games in early access. And almost never buy games just out of the blue.
But this, I bought within minutes of finding out it was available. Even in early access, this is an easy GOTY contender.

Also, all this Mario goodness without a par looking sports game? Very nice!
Re: Hands On: Sonic Superstars Is Exactly What Sonic 4 Should Have Been
I personally thought Sonic 4 was alright when it came out (well part 2 in particular). Probably 5/10 for the first part and 7/10 for the second part.
Problem was that it sucked compared to old Sonic titles and the physics weren't satisfying.
I really hope this is good, and we finally see a decent modern 2d Sonic game.
