The only AC I've actually played is New Horizons and I'm not sure I'll be interested in a new one. I'll play this new content though.

Splatoon 4 might be the next game the team makes so New Horizons will probably have to hold over for a few years.

I played New Horizons last night and it definitely felt choppy compared to other games. Since Splatoon is made by the same developers and did get an FPS increase I assume it's a technical limitation of the game itself. Very cool to see this since I was wondering why it didn't get a Switch 2 patch.

Mario Maker 2 seems more like a sequel angle to me? The game is from 2019 so a Mario Maker 3 with a suite of new features and ongoing support would be better.

@SwitchplayerJohn They marketed it as a "Switch 2 edition" of Jamboree but it's really just additional content tied to an untouched port of the Switch 1 game. And while you can technically play all the boards on Jamboree TV, tons of the game modes and features are missing. The story mode I wanted to play doesn't even exist.

@Grim I can see why they did though. Super Mario Party had poor reception compared to both Superstars and Jamboree. It was the better business decision to make it a separate title.

I was going to but then I found out that you don't get access to the upgrades in the base content so I no longer plan to. I'm already happy with the base game. I was looking forward to playing the story mode with Switch 2 upgrades but it doesn't even exist in Jamboree TV.

I like the new Pro controller, it feels nice and the sticks are quiet.

Ordered it from Amazon during Prime Day and it never arrived so they sent me a replacement and gave me a $10 credit. I decided to rebuy it with the credit and cancelled the replacement and was refunded, but the replacement still arrived. They told me to keep it so now I have two of them for less than the price of one.

"Worse than Odyssey" isn't the most enticing sounding endorsement. Hopefully just an opinion thing.

I feel like Mario is just a different kind of game than Donkey Kong.

I missed being able to just choose any track even in Mario Kart 8.

Hopefuly this is like when "View Highlight Reel" was the default option in MK8. Once they realize people don't want to use the new additions that much they will change the default to be more inclusive of that.

The reason the GameCube controller is rated so highly is because of the Wii. The Wii Remote and nunchuk were a terrible layout for certain games (think mario kart, smash bros) compared to a normal controller layout so people just fell back on the GC controller and now people just default to it. It's also the last time Nintendo has included a proper normal controller, even the joy-cons don't quite have the same level of comfort as a full sized controller.

@Ramouz It's not that simple I'd imagine. These are games the developers haven't touched in years. They have to refamiliarize themselves with each game and find out what it is about the code that's causing problems on the Switch 2 and how to fix it while also keeping the Switch 1 in mind. Players can cause scenarios they don't expect so they have to test thoroughly.

And the developers that worked on certain games may be unavailable or busy, so new developers have to get acquainted with things and that can take even more time.

My original joy-cons drifted but after I got it fixed by Nintendo it didn't come back. My Pro Controller I got a bit later hasn't drifted either so hopefully they have some kind of subtle fix.

This could be thousands of dollars in damage just from a stapler.

Fortnite can run at 120 FPS on Xbox Series and PS5.... and on Android and iPhone. As the Switch is a tablet with a fan there's no excuse for it not to have 120 FPS capability as far as I can see. @Kiz3000

It's nice that the Switch is getting some last minute additions now that the Switch 2 is coming. Just today I discovered the Nintendo Switch Online app now supports the dark theme.

12/13. I didn't know the Wii U rerelease year. This game was a lot of fun I enjoyed it more than the first Galaxy.

@Misima Yes. What I meant was that it's easier for them to say this since they as Nintendo can simply make a bigger cart if their game is too big. Third party devs are limited especially since many of their games are larger than 64GB.

It's not like they're on an even playing field with developers. What's stopping them from making a 128GB cartridge if needed? And they also don't have to pay the same price.

@Ramouz The Wii U was so slow and laggy to open and close games/apps or Settings. The Switch is either instant or much quicker to load.

Ugh. So the Pro Controller is going to cost over $110 in Canada, and that's without tax.

Edit: Sorry I was mistaken. They have NOT raised the prices for the accessories in Canada. The CAD price remains equivalent to the original $79 USD.

The battle courses look huge. I hope it doesn't feel like vanilla Mario Kart 8's "battle courses" on Wii U.

I have a 4K Samsung TV that I purchased after getting a PS5 so I'll be able to take advantage of these new features. Looking forward to it, I didn't expect to see this from Nintendo.

Why can't Nintendo make a new controller with analog triggers?

@personauser93 Animal Crossing is more of a game for later in a system's life where the user base is bigger and people can play it together, not really an early adopter kind of thing.

@Migoshuro The right side has nothing to do with my comment. If you look closely at MKW at that timestamp you can see the kart switch to anti gravity mode after grinding on the rail. It seems the mechanic exists if they want to implement it in a course.

Surely you didn't expect them to pay for a cart that could fit all of Elden Ring?

@Anti-Matter How do you know that? You can see there is still some anti-gravity at 3:45.

The animations in MK World look more lively compared to 8.

I did have an issue with joy-cons signal seeming to be blocked on occasion and it becoming unresponsive. But I also have the Pro controller and that works fine.

I hope to see some performance improvements when old games are running on it as well. Animal Crossing: New Horizons with improved loading times would be great. (There may even be some room for graphical boosts from the sounds of it.)

Switch games costed $80 in Canada, I think the only normal priced Nintendo game I got was Smash Ultimate on its launch day. For everything else I waited for a sale.

The bundle will probably come back but not necessarily the price point considering they're looking to increase things.

Seems like another anti scalper practice like the requirement of 12 consecutive months of Switch Online membership to preorder.

That was an unexpectedly detailed list. Good to see they've taken testing of both 1st and 3rd party software seriously.

@ManaOwls Isn't this the same as the SNES? It's a more powerful, more capable version of the same console.

It looks better than MK8 graphically. I think people are forgetting what 8 actually looks like.

But why would Nintendo make a feature like that? That sounds more like Wii U 2 than Switch 2 and would punish you for only owning the new one.

The mine cart level reminded me why I prefer Tropical Freeze. DKCR level design has too much fake difficulty, hiding something off screen then punishing you for not reacting correctly. Tropical Freeze is tough but fair.

Not getting it. Already played it on Wii and 3DS and this port has downgrades from the Wii version. Tropical Freeze was a lot more polished.

It does have a lot of water but isn't that one of the charms of the region? It has a whole oceanic aesthetic.

Super Mario 3D World is not an online game on Wii U.

Toad's Factory so it could get a nice live jazzy remix with the Mario Kart 8 band. Would've been a great match.

I was going to buy a digital PS5 but ended up buying the disc because digital was only available in a bundle. I have ended up using the disc slot for one game I found on eBay so I guess it worked out.

It's good to have the option of using either.

Buying Animal Crossing physically was a mistake though, having to switch it in and out so often is too much if you want to play something else.

@westman98 3DS and Wii online got shut down because of external reasons so it's exactly the same. Nintendo is in control now.
