I'm pretty sure the reason it says Original Game: Hal Laboratory is because they have the copyright for Super Smash Bros. (because of the N64 game)

Why else would it say original game??

Never had this on Wii U so this port doesn't bother me. I do wonder which is better, 3DS version or Wii U version?

Might be a hybrid port/sequel like Splatoon 2, a new game but using a lot of the previous game's infrastructure. This would allow it to be made in less time.

The only way I would want a new game is if it was better than 4. Sequels aren't always better than their predecessors.

At least hacking/homebrew should allow you to still play these things. Including those updates for physical games.

This really makes me appreciate getting it free on Club Nintendo, instead of $80 CAD or something...

@dings The only good one is 3DS's Activity Log, the Wii U's is too basic and clunky and the Wii Message Board doesn't even track your total playtime. The Nintendo Channel did but it's been shut down.

I love the Activity Log, too bad each successor is worse.

Nope. These are still trash for the most part. You shouldn't be using gold points for small discounts. All those "rewards" do is take more of your money. And It's also ridiculous that the Switch isn't supported.

@MonkiPlays @wiggleronacid But why would they rush to make Mario Kart 9 on Switch. As far as Nintendo's concerned MK8D is a brand new game.

Either way they usually come out every 3 years so shouldn't expect one until 2020 if ever. It's always been one per console and most Switch owners aren't going to want to buy Mario Kart twice, especially so close together.

They need to keep the momentum going.

Glad they changed it, I actually spent my morning/early afternoon looking into alternatives for a Switch or Wii U in the future for video viewing/browsing/content consumption after reading this. I'm no longer just sitting and hoping for the Switch anymore.

For everyone saying this is a neutral response it's not. A neutral response would be "We have nothing to share/announce", this is flat out denial. If this is accurate it proves that 5.0 leak is fake.

As for saying it was coming last year, plans could have changed.

Anyway, I'm so over this barebones system issue. The Switch is not as much value to me as it would be with more features. They're definitely losing sales because of it.

People are going to have to look elsewhere for services Nintendo used to provide. Really disappointing cause the Switch could do it better than their old systems did.

No I don't agree the Switch needs all these apps but this comment section is infuriating to read. "I don't like or want these features so nobody should have or want them, it's a gaming console".

First of all the Switch already has a couple of these non gaming apps.

Secondly, all gaming consoles released in the past decade can do these things, including the Wii, 3DS and Wii U.

Thirdly, no, I'm not using these apps on my tiny phone screen and I do not own a tablet or other adequate TV capable device other than the Wii U which I do not want to be forced to keep using. Please stop assuming your needs are the same as everyone else's.

I really like Tropical Freeze and I've played through both versions of Returns. IMO TF feels tough but fair while Returns just felt like cheap level design.

Scribblenauts Unlimited literally allowed you to create new objects and share them in addition to the very extensive dictionary. Unless they change something, it's just not the kind of game that needs constant releases.

@Yasaal @RupeeClock @flapjack-ashley 2.0 shouldn't even count as an update as it was there from day one. But to be fair, those are mostly changes that don't affect your day-to-day use of the system. Adding friends from Wii U and 3DS, system transfer, preloading, new icons? Some are pretty big changes but they're rarely used so I can see how it would feel the same.
