Mario Kart DS. But I've now played them all though time with Double Dash was very limited since I don't own it and only got to play it once.

Small spelling error in the title, there's only one U in humorous. (And no, it isn't an American form).

The YouTube app's performance was so much worse on the Wii U when I compared it to the Switch. The browser was the way to watch back then.

@Ade117 I want Toad's Factory to happen just so we can get a Mario Kart 8-style jazzy live remake of the music. Sadly I don't see it happening because I think all the moving parts in the track make it too complex for MK Tour.

How about Mario Party Superstars? I've no interest in Super Mario Party at this point thanks to all the negative reactions I've heard.

@CorePrideX That may seem ideal, but that's not realistic at all, scalping affects people disproportionately. For someone with lots of money buying scalped products is no big deal at all. The extra money is nothing but a small convenience fee for them. Meanwhile others get priced out of a product altogether. The truth is the motivation to "just not buy it" is not there for everyone, especially at the same degree. Not to mention people who are desperate for gifts, and those that don't know how much something is actually worth.

The only real effective solution is to have an abundance of stock.

It's strange they're making a Switch repair program all of a sudden when the 3DS and other systems didn't have one. The price may be good, but the principle isn't.

I have no problem pulling out the Wii U and starting Wii Sports if I really want to play it. No need for a re-creation. It's just not different enough for me to want to spend money. Maybe if it was like $19.99... and even that's a maybe.

@ModdedInkling The only time I can think of where smart steering actually gives you something close to an advantage compared to normal steering is 200cc Rainbow Road. That first big turn is a tricky one.

@Silly_G What I heard is that they haven't had the rights to make a winter olympic video game since the Wii U. It was given to another company.

I haven't played any of the Switch Pokémon entries yet. The response to this one has me intrigued.

That was one of the best Directs I've ever watched. Lots of content and a good amount of game diversity to appeal to more people. The pacing was rapid and fairly concise as well. Nice surprise at the end with Mario Kart.

It's about time. This is probably the longest Nintendo has supported game post-release.

Only little concern is that I don't want to see this ported to the Switch successor which just got more likely.

@Dezzy70 Super Mario Galaxy was an exception. There was no sequel to Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine, or even Super Mario 3D Land on the same console.

If I had to guess, the only reason they made Galaxy 2 is because they wanted to play with its unique gravity/planet concepts some more.

Wow, it doesn't feel like it but it's been about 5 years since the Switch was released. With only 6 years between the Wii and Wii U as well as between the 3DS and Switch it's about time to seriously start considering the successor.

2024 certainly isn't off the table. The New 3DS released in late 2014 and the Switch just over two years later. The OLED model came out last year so they could do something similar.

The limited new content (such as no new tracks) is a bit disappointing as a Wii U player, but I recently got ahold of a used copy. I couldn't justify paying the full price for the game again especially after waiting all this time.

No Mario Kart 9 is understandable and was somewhat predictable. But the refusal to add any content over the years is a little bit puzzling.

@Blizzia I don't see how the law would stop someone from voluntarily returning the item(s). Target could have taken them back since it was at her request, which would qualify as discarding as she sees fit.

It's interesting that the online for this game has been up quite a bit longer than Mario Kart Wii's was.

Mario Kart 7 sure has a lot of localization name changes while Mario Kart 8 has none.

I've held out on Sword and Shield, hoping GameFreak would release a higher quality main game for the Switch using their experience with S&S as a base. Unfortunately, they've handed off this game to others who seem to not have put as much new stuff in to it and don't have that past experience. Then there's Pokémon Legends Arceus which is something totally different.

I wish Pokémon had the quality consistency that Nintendo's games are known for.

@johnvboy I wasn't specifically talking about your comment since you didn't actually do what I was describing. It was more just trying to give perspective on why people sometimes get frustrated. Sorry for confusion.

@johnvboy Honestly, saying you had no issues is fine. Saying you had no issues and then placing blame with assumptions on others usage based on nothing but your own experience is disrespectful and annoying.

My joy-con drifted, fortunately here in NA you can get them swapped for free. Now I use the Pro Controller.

Kinda surprising that Twitch has come to the Switch before something like Netflix or Disney+. I guess it is more gaming-related though.

The app isn't as good as on other devices, you can only have either a chat or a video stream open at one time and it seems a bit janky, in docked mode at least. It must be somehow pushing the Switch to its limits.

So they meant "final" just like Splatoon 2's "final" splatfest.

@Dethmunk Nintendo already improved on MK8 with the deluxe version. If they wanted to I have no doubt they could improve it further.

This game was alright and paved the way for 3D World. Its use of the 3D effect is quite profound compared to most other 3DS games.

I've only played Mario Party 9 and 10, wonder if I'd enjoy this.

Why would you turn off exp share? The whole exp system is based on shared xp?

None. It's too expensive.

It kind of takes away from the perks of Switch with the whole portability aspect if you have to play on the cloud. Cloud versions should only be used as either an option OR if there's no other viable way to port the game over. I'm not sure if that was the case here.

@swoose That defeats the purpose of what they're trying to do, make it so you don't have to have certain Pokémon or moves just to be able to get around. A quality of life change.

@nocdaes Interesting perspective. Personally, my Wii and launch day 3DS still work, so I'm not expecting my Switch to break any time soon. I have replaced some batteries over time though.

What's the price going to be like? Same as Xbox Live and PS+ ?

I don't really want to buy MK8D and pay $80 when I got the original for $64.99 I believe? Because of the dollar devaluing... even if I did get Pikmin 3 with it. MKT just isn't a substitute for a full game.

Neither of these games quite hit the spot. Though I can't act too surprised, I figured very early on that Deluxe was all we would be getting for quite some time.

The first time I did this the latency was awful and I was disappointed. I had tried two paired Joy-Cons while docked while the Pro Controller was charging from the dock. Later I switched to just the Pro Controller, then tried a pair of (pretty old) Sony Bluetooth headphones and the latency was better. I then tried a newer pair of headphones and the delay appeared even shorter.

Going back to the first pair the delay wasn't as bad as before. There are clearly a lot of factors in play..

@thinkhector What do you mean by this? I have Bluetooth headphones that can be used for making calls.

I rarely got hits other than the StreetPass Relay ones like McDonald's and stuff. How well this feature worked was very dependent on your location, might be one reason the Switch doesn't have something like it.

Super Nintendo Switch implies a full successor to me like the SNES or 3DS from DS. We'll see I suppose.

I kind of wish the graphics were improved to at least Sonic Unleashed or Generations level. It basically still looks like the Wii version but running in HD.

I remember saying before, Mario Kart 8 is considered new as far as Nintendo is concerned and you probably shouldn't expect Mario Kart 9 anytime soon. I still don't own MK8D after having a Switch since 2018. I've got the original and I'm not really motivated to rebuy it at full price.

The thing I like about the Switch OS is the speed, it's faster to get around on than PS4 and Xbox One. The Wii U on the other hand was so slow... certainly did a 180 there. Microsoft and Sony seemly following Nintendo's lead here for both their 8th and 9th gen systems.

To be fair to the Wii its speed was probably somewhere in between.

@sanderev I know what they did but I just don't know why that would make you upset with Epic. If Epic somehow manages to make a difference it would likely have a positive impact for consumers/devs despite their apparent self-serving intentions.

For example, Apple recently lowered the cut they take for smaller app developers, something which could reasonably be attributed to this.

Though if you just meant that Epic is being hypocritical then I see what you're saying.

People seem to be forgetting how long ago 2017 was, Splatoon 2 is not that new.

Seems a lot of people either misinterpreted or didn't read the tweet in the article. Nintendo said last year they would release NO new hardware in 2020. While this time they said no announcements to make in the NEXT FEW months. Very different implications...

Either way, could be nothing, could be something.

I don't get why they do this.
