@mariomaster96 That version at least has some offline content, on Wii U all you'll be able to do is make courses that you can't upload.

From the Q&A "Please note that if an event occurs that would make it difficult to continue online services for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U software, we may have to discontinue services earlier than planned" that sounds a little strange.

The original Mario Maker will feel hollow with no internet, same for Splatoon and others I'm sure.

There are a lot of Pokémon games accessible via the 3DS as well. Does this mean all Pokémon will be stuck?

Why do they have to do this? This will encourage people to mod their systems.

@HalBailman The PS5 is massive. Not going to work for a portable handheld.

@Unit_DTH @Shade_Koopa Don't forget that the Switch is a handheld. To reach that level in a thin battery powered device it will have to be using fairly recent tech.

This could be part of the reason developers continue to support PS4 and Xbox One.

@MK73DS Can't the Switch already run GameCube and Wii games, like the Sunshine and Galaxy ports?

Realistically the name will get leaked one way or another before most can play.

@johnvboy If that was the case they probably wouldn't have recreated Charles' accents in Mario Wonder and the Wario trailer. If they wanted to change them they could've.

Speaking of which if they make a Mario movie sequel I hope Charles still gets to voice his characters.

There's no reason to get rid of Charles if they're basically recreating his voice so I assume the decision came from his side in some way.

@MarioBrickLayer Microsoft isn't too much better. A lot of people have trouble telling Xbox One S, Xbox Series X, Xbox One X and Xbox Series S apart.

If it's coming next year it should be announced this year going off Nintendo's past history, but who knows...

@SeantheDon29 If the Switch was getting a new entry the Booster DLC wouldn't have happened at all. And the next system might not even get a new Mario Kart, with the amount of content they've packed into 8 DX they might just port it again.

I mean.. there's no need to drop it so quickly. Other than the Wii U no other 8th gen system was dropped immediately after its successor's release. Not the 3DS, Xbox One, or the PS4.

@Cashews @Chaotic_Neutral I doubt it. Nintendo's home consoles always do poorly with the exception of the Wii, while their portables are very successful. Not including a handheld component is like setting themselves up for failure at this point. The 3DS and Wii U both took the gimmicks of the DS and Wii and then added another (albeit much less successful) gimmick, they could do the same with the Switch successor.

If a new system is coming in 2024 we should hear about it by the end of the fiscal year.

There won't be a Switch successor in early 2024. Nintendo has a history of announcing new systems about a year in advance. It will be mid-late 2024 at the earliest and we would know about it ahead of time.

Wii Wheel on Wii. I would drive automatic because drifting was too stiff and awkward on manual. Buttons on Wii U and Switch.

While it would've been cool to see on the Switch this feature was too dependent on your location. Some would get flooded with hits while others would get 0.

They were only going to choose a famous actor for the starring role. I'm glad Martinet was still included.

Trying to 3 star the DLC Grand Prix with Toad prior to this update felt so frustrating and unfair even for Mario Kart. Last second items every time with no way to catch up over and over, it certainly felt unbalanced even without having the formal knowledge. I coincidentally switch to DK and suddenly it was much easier.

For a moment I thought this said that the Switch got widgets.

I don't have an exact guess for when the successor is dropping but I think 2024 will be the last proper year for the Switch. 2 years of support for Splatoon 3 ending in late 2024. The successor will probably be either shortly before or after that.

All this means is that games like Nintendo Switch Sports that weren't even $60 won't now be $70. They can price all Mario, Zelda, Pokémon games there from now on and still be correct. The only reason Pikmin 4 isn't $70 is because they're using Zelda as the initial test balloon before slowly rolling it out more broadly.

Wow, so games are now basically $100 each in Canada. Can't wait for them to charge $100 for a Pokémon game... they were $40 not that long ago.

@ferryb001 yeah, I bought the octo-expansion on sale and didn't even get to play it before it got added to the expansion pack.

@BabyYoda71 And where would that be? They were always available in Mexico and Canada as well. It seems they've added Peru, Argentina, Colombia, Brazil and Chile.

Also the title is misleading. "I'm sorry you misunderstood me" doesn't qualify as an apology as far as I'm concerned. It's probably second only to "I'm sorry you're mad" as worst non-apology.

There was no chance I'd buy Sparks of Hope at full price when I only just got Kingdom Battle gold edition earlier this year at a huge discount. Even as a casual observer you know how common good sales are from them.

@Koda1000 From my experience the graphics are noticeably better on PS4 compared to Switch Fortnite. But the Switch version loads way faster more in line with the PS5 or Xbox Series versions. The Switch's speed is one place where it still feels modern.

@HalBailman To be fair Zelda has been cross-generation more than once. But with Mario Kart DLC and a brand new Splatoon game as well 2024 does seem to be the earliest to be on the lookout.

@-wc- VS is basically Grand Prix but with more options. (CPU difficulty, number/order of courses, items) You can definitely play it alone with CPU. I only play Grand Prix to 3 Star each trophy and then never touch it again.

@-wc- Grand Prix has no options so no. Is there any particular reason you don't want to play VS?

@-wc- You can turn off any individual items in VS mode.

I just hope they keep this in mind when the next Pokémon game is in development. It's probably easier to do it right the first time than try to patch things up later.

I think the Switch could do it if they really wanted to but it'll require local play in handheld or tabletop mode in addition to a TV.

What do you mean "should have been bundled with the Wii U"? It was bundled with it (in some regions at least).

I wanted to get this game but now it's at the very least going on the backburner after hearing the complaints. I'm not one of those people who will just inevitably buy it either. I haven't bothered with Sword and Shield or BDSP, all my Pokémon are still on the 3DS.

@RadioShadow Whether you believe it or not the fact Nintendo fixes it for free no questions asked speaks for itself. Your experience as one person doesn't change that.

@Magician The Switch has been out for much longer than the PS5 so a lot of people already have it. Also the PS5 is Japanese.

@Geit_de I did read your post, what I was saying is that not everyone's Wi-Fi is so flaky that it's unusable which you seem to assume. "Thanks to all players playing on wifi for ruining the game for everyone else." The vast majority of people playing are using Wi-Fi as it is a portable console that doesn't even have an Ethernet port. You can still lose connection even when wired if your internet is poor. People who always disconnect ruin it for themselves as well and if it still works like Splatoon 2 the game actually bans you for frequent disconnecting. Your post sounds like you're attacking people for using Wi-Fi regardless of how stable it is, in which case you should realize that not everyone is fortunate enough to have the same setup as you.

@Geit_de Not everyone's Wi-Fi connection is as unstable as yours apparently is.

@GrowingWings Are you really comparing a glitch in a game to criminal law? Well Is it also illegal to time travel in Animal Crossing? Take shortcuts in Mario Kart? Nintendo has yet to deliver express disapproval of this action. You as the player cannot arbitrarily decide which exploits are acceptable and which are not with any solid legal weight. This is different than crime, which is ideally not so open to personal interpretation.

That one's on Nintendo. I'm not even sure it's fair to ban them for something that they and the game are allowing.

@AnorakJimi You know the 3DS had a Netflix app right? The Switch in handheld mode is a big quality and size improvement to that. It also was a thing on the Wii U GamePad.

I also would caution against assuming that "everyone" has access to something better. I can totally see someone such as a child having just a Switch on hand.
