@Zaruboggan If you drink coffee, anything that you put your cup on becomes a coffee table. Even if it's not a table. Like a shelf. Or a kitchen counter. Or a chair. Or a toilet. Although you shouldn't do that last one ... what was I talking about again? ๐
I'm currently playing Fantasy Life i on my ROG Ally x. Am around 20 hours in. Very good, as chill as you want it to be, and with lots of different systems to tinker with... but, boy, is the camera a pain!!! For some reason, camera movement on the Y axis is painfully limited. You can't pan up that much, which makes seeing ahead of yourself really quite hard. Did they do that to limit the draw distance? I don't know, but it is really quite infuriating. I find myself constantly checking the map to see where I am, because it is impossible to look around in any meaningful way. Especially annoying when inside caves, as you can't easily check for exits. Still a great game, but I am really hoping that they can address that. Have a great weekend, guys, and please take great care of yourselves out there.
Wow, this really surprises me. Unless the Switch 2 stays super cool, this sounds like a fire risk. Hopefully they have tested it extensively, but I would be way too paranoid to trust this.
Wait... so you can choose whether to play as a racoon, a meow, or a woof? I would suffer choice paralysis on this screen, and would be stuck there forever, unable to proceed.
I must admit to being somewhat bewildered to see that The Hundred Line has vanished from the top 10, with both RPGs and VNs being so popular in Japan. It's a shame, as I know that the developers are in a bit of trouble. I wonder why it fell away so quickly? Hopefully it was related to stock issues, and will be back next week. I wish Too Kyo and Media Vision all the best... they deserve success with this one.
I am actually speechless in relation to the Japan cover. I'm not sure I've ever seen anything quite like it. In my opinion, it looks just awful. I think that NA/Europe will win this one by an... avalanche!
It's funny, as I'm currently re-playing Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth 1, and the game features some enemies which are clearly based on this game. I have always been particularly fond of the "Violent Good Girl". ๐ I would sincerely love to be able to play Tokimeki Memorial at some point, if it is ever officially translated.
I think that I am done with Lies Of P now... for the moment! Over 200 hours, and I ended up on NG+++++++. Never have I finished a game so many times in a row like that. Absolutely remarkable game, sensational. I am now playing through Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth 1 again. Nep-Nep gets knocked, but the Re;Birth games are really solid RPGs, in my opinion. And... a bit of Chaos Engine on the side. Have a great weekend, guys, and please take great care of yourselves out there. Happy Easter, if you celebrate it!
When I quickly glanced at the small version of the thumbnail, I saw a man peeking out from beneath a cow's udder. Did anybody else get the same deranged impression, or am I alone in this? ๐
I was all ears for this review. I had hutch high hopes for it. I may hop over to the eShop to download it. I have the bunny to pay for it. But please lettuce know if they release a patch. I carrot abide poor performance.
Anybody who buys one should be forced to unbox it, unwrap it, and smash it to pieces. This will demonstrate beyond a doubt that they have no intention of selling it on. Something tells me that there may be a flaw in my plan, but I can't see it currently.
@Lone_Beagle There is the problem that many of the games on Steam won't run on Steam OS. Windows 11 will run almost anything (from my admittedly limited understanding!). But I do have a ROG Ally X, and it's sensational. No problems with Windows 11 so far.
Funnily enough, I started this just an hour ago via Steam. Way too early to have an opinion yet, but it already seems to have a different feel to previous entries. I have high hopes for this one!
I always get tripped up on the naming of these (am from the UK). I remember Nemesis, Salamander, and then Vulcan Venture. I always thought that Salamander was Nemesis 2, but maybe not! I'll have to go on a Google dive later!
@-wc- Oh, absolutely, mate. I remember that the C64 in particular had some STAGGERING games towards the end, games which seemed technically impossible. The Amiga too.
Yeah, this makes sense due to the backwards compatibility, else some of the functionality in games would be locked out. It also seems that Amiibo have been a big money spinner for Nintendo, so no surprises here! A very sensible move, I think!
Ah... those were the days!!! I remember doing the same thing with Short Circuit on the C64... I loved the film, and the cover of the game made it irresistible! As for the game itself... we don't talk about that.
@Anti-Matter But... imagine that it was an update for a game which you really liked... like The Sims, or Animal crossing, or Barbie... you wouldn't want more content to play?
@Anti-Matter I can maybe understand your frustrations in relation to physical releases of the game, but surely it is a truly great thing to see a dev support and continuously nurture a game like this? So many games seem to be released and then abandoned... I think it's amazing how much effort and care Eric has put into his game... especially considering that a lot of the new content has been free!
I would love to see a remaster of Beautiful Katamari. I think it's easily the best game in the series, although I may be in the minority with that opinion!
I ordered Parasol Stars from them in January 2024. Considering that it launched on the eShop many moons ago, they really should have it over the line by now. Seems like an utter shambles.
I haven't been posting much in this article recently, due to having switched over to the Rog Ally X, but I will pop up now and then if I'm playing something which I would hope to see on Switch 2. This time, it is Lies Of P. Although some dismissed it as just another "souls-like", it is so much more that that. It has an interesting story, good characters, and the combat is excellent. I absolutely love it, and am currently 120 hours in, on NG++. It is excellently designed, and I am still finding it utterly compelling. Very much recommended to fans of this style of game, it would be a 10/10 for me. I would really hope for it to come to Switch 2, especially as the devs are still working on the DLC, so it is still an on-going project. Have a great weekend, guys, and take great care of yourselves out there.
THPS 3 is just amazing... the best in the series, in my opinion. Great soundtrack too, although I don't know if all of the songs would make it across to a remaster. THPS 4 was, for me, the game where the series began to err. The more open levels just felt a bit empty and soulless to me... I much preferred the tight and jam packed levels of 3.
I'm not sure why, but there's something about the NA/EU cover which I find hard to process visually. Every time I see it, I have to stare at it for a while to make out the various different elements. I think that, maybe, the red strip on the right hand side confuses things somewhat? I always find it uncomfortable to look at. So I have gone for Japan here.
@JohnnyMind Yeah, absolutely! I mean... what would one even do with a Switch 2 right now anyway? It would be impossible to go online with it (due to the fear of being caught, and presumably the servers aren't public yet anyway), and no Switch 2 games would be available. Maybe one could play Switch 1 games, and that's it! Although, as Ollie says, maybe it's more aimed at businesses... but what a chance to take!
@Lord Are you seriously trying to tell me that cookies are not essential? Next you'll be saying that doughnuts are not essential! Or pizza! Honestly...
@Vyacheslav333 This has just reminded me that I still haven't received my copy of Parasol Stars from Strictly Limited... has been over a year now. Also, this gives us a third use of umbrellas... smashing things!
@Novamii Ah, that's a shame. We decided to try a wireless 4G router simply because our broadband was so unreliable, and kept going down. We've had it for years now, and it's amazingly reliable. No cables to get messed up! ๐ But, yeah, it does depend on what the coverage is like in your area. But when 4G is "uncapped" (unlike on mobiles, where it is throttled), it can be pretty sweet! Well, I hope that you can find a good solution.
@Novamii What I am about to say may be of no use to you whatsoever, but... it sounds like you're using broadband? What is the 4G like in your area? I have a little 4G router, which is completely wireless, and it outstrips my broadband usually. Just a thought. Apologies if it doesn't apply to you.
