Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (15th August)

Am taking a bit of a break from gaming to read some books. Am feeling a little burnt-out on gaming. But I am still playing my Evercade when commuting, so...

H.E.R.O. - Level 17! Blimey. Getting somewhere again, now, after being stuck on level 14 for an age... πŸ˜†

Have a lovely weekend, guys, and please take great care of yourselves out there.

Digimon Story: Time Stranger - Haven't had much gaming time this week, but have made some more progress. Still very impressed by this.

Balatro - I just keep going back for the odd run here and there. Such a different experience every time!

H.E.R.O. (Evercade) - Reached the very last screen of level 14, but ran out of energy! Argh! Am still totally addicted to this.

Will be tempted by Oblivion next week. I didn't like Skyrim much, but I loved Oblivion on the xBox 360. If the performance is good on Switch 2, I will definitely go for this. I am assuming that NL will review it at some point. However... considering that the other versions still have unfixed bugs, I am worried about this one.

Have a lovely weekend, guys, and please take great care of yourselves out there.

Digimon Story: Time Stranger - I must admit that I have been blown away by this, it's so much better than I was expecting. The game is full of character and charm. At first I was aghast that the Digimon could talk, but it actually adds massively to the atmosphere and cuteness. Also seems to be more in-depth than Pokemon in relation to the actual monster raising. 25 hours in, and am intrigued to see what happens next.

H.E.R.O. (Evercade) - Still stuck on level 14!!!

Have a lovely weekend, guys, and please take great care of yourselves out there.

Re: Review: Truxton Extreme (Switch 2) - A Thrilling Return For A Classic Shoot-'Em-Up Series

@Shiryu 10/10... one that comes to my mind is DariusBurst Chronicle Saviours on the Vita, and a big part of that would be the staggering amount of content included. Countless levels, many different ships, some phenomenal bosses... had me addicted like no other shmup... and I'm not a massive shmup fan, either! The number of levels featured is insane. I should also mention I.O. on the C64, if you've ever played that... that was unbelievable.

Final Fantasy 1 Pixel Remaster - Finally managed to beat the last boss! πŸ˜† Tough cookie! I really enjoyed this, and will slot in the other five when I can.

Granblue Fantasy: Relink - Endless Ragnarok - DEMO - I really liked this. The bosses feel quite spongy, but I was really taken by the chatter between the team, it had a really nice feel to it. Wishlisted.

Digimon Story: Time Stranger - I must admit that I have always looked down on this series as a Pokemon knock-off, which is unfair. I downloaded the demo, and absolutely loved it, so went for the full game. Ten hours in, and it is quite brilliant so far. I'm still not entirely sure what I am doing (feels a bit more complex than Pokemon, with having a data type and an element type), but I will get there. Great story so far, something which the modern Pokemon games could certainly learn from. "Good good!"

H.E.R.O. (Evercade) - Still can't get past level 14. Still obsessed with it. πŸ˜†

Have a lovely weekend, guys, and please take great care of yourselves out there.

Re: Round Up: The Previews Are In For Lies Of P On Switch 2

Ooyah

@MagnaRoader Interestingly, I don't think that the name "Pinnochio" is referenced at all in the game. The "P" actually seems to refer to someone else... but there are a few different theories. Maybe they had to avoid certain names... like the guide in the game being called "Gemini", avoiding "Jimminy". Although Gepetto features. All a bit confusing, actually! πŸ˜†

Oh, crikey... will I be able to resist this? I ended up on NG++++++++ (or something like that) via Steam, so I know it like the back of my hand, but it is just so good... sensational. The performance really does need to be rock solid, though, as the combat is very fast-paced. Sounds promising from these previews, though!

"I wish I may, I wish I might..."

Final Fantasy 1 Pixel Remaster - I went rummaging through my backlog to find something old school and relatively straight forward (that is, without the need to memorise 37 different button combinations!). I thought that this might hit the spot, and it did! Am doing a little grinding before the final boss (who is a right git!). Absolutely loved it, and will look forward to the other five!

Namco Legendary Mountains - This is very one-note, but also quite addictive in short bursts.

Granblue Fantasy: Relink - Endless Ragnarok - DEMO - Mitch's review intrigued me. I love action RPGs, so I will try the demo.

Digimon Story Time Stranger - DEMO - Have always shied away from this franchise for some reason, so I will give this a try too!

H.E.R.O. (Evercade) - Oh, wow... level 14 is an absolute killer! Love it... πŸ˜†

Have a lovely weekend, guys, and please take great care of yourselves out there.

Namco Legendary Mountains - I do like this, I do, but... I can't see it having long term appeal. Not enough variety. Still, I would like to reach the point of combining the two largest voxels. I came close-ish! πŸ˜† It's a surprisingly tense game, almost stressful.

Final Fantasy VII Intergrade - I was backing off of this mainly due to the file size, but it was on sale for Β£13, and I couldn't ignore that! πŸ˜† May start it this week.

H.E.R.O. (Evercade) - Wow, level 14 is a killer! But there does always seem to be a "trick" to things with this game, so I will keep on!

Have a lovely weekend, guys, and please take great care of yourselves out there.

@OorWullie I don't think that you understand the English guy at all. He was trying to be at one with the tomatoes. Do tomatoes take their clothes off when sleeping? No. Do you ever see a tomato taking more than one shower a week? No! How can you work with tomatoes unless you try to be the tomato?

Seriously though, that was a great story. I take it he also covered everything in green dye?

p.s. What was the dye for?

The Adventures Of Elliot - Am struggling with this. It's okay, but feels completely "standard". The biggest problem is that, outside of the main town, the different eras feel identical, so you're playing the same map over and over. It does feature some nice writing, so am trying to persevere, but it's really just the graphics which make it stand out, and that isn't enough for me.

Namco Legendary Mountains - I've never played one of these "suika" type games, and find it hard to resist Mappy and Dig Dug! πŸ˜† Is fun so far, although I am unsure about it's long-term appeal. It is quite hard, though! Haven't scored above 5000 yet. πŸ˜† Has some lovely little touches. For example, on the Dig Dug stage, the music only plays when rotating the bowl! I would love to see Taito or Capcom make one of these!

H.E.R.O. (Evercade) - I reached level 14! Once! πŸ˜† Love this game. Haven't even looked at Pitfall Lost Caverns yet!

Seaquest (Evercade) - This is fantastic for a quick blast. High score of around 70,000.

Have a lovely weekend, guys, and please take great care of yourselves out there.

@Teksette Oh, wow! I've never heard of McDonalds Treasure Land Adventure! It's by Treasure? Blimey. It looks like "McDonald's Land" is a completely different game... try Googling it with "Amiga" in the search criteria. I never knew there were so many McDonald's games! πŸ˜†

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (27th June)

Ooyah

@Teksette Oh wow, you've really triggered a memory for me there! I loved Global Gladiators on the Amiga. There was also another lovely McDonalds game on the Amiga... I think it was McDonald's Land? Have you played that one? It also dredged up a memory of another product driven platformer... Cool Spot. That was so good... I would love to be able to play it again.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (27th June)

The Adventures Of Elliot - I played the demo, and was really quite unimpressed, but had the feeling that it would improve, so I took a chance on the full game. I am about 10 hours in and, so far, it is... fine. Engaging enough! Nothing new... but I still have the feeling that it is going to "spark" somewhere down the line. I suspect that I won't have a real opinion until 30 hours or so.

Soccer Kid Collection - Man, I had forgotten what a pain the bosses are in this game! πŸ˜†

Mouser - Still can't get past 2-3. πŸ˜†

Saboten Bombers - Very silly, and great fun, I am enjoying this one.

Balatro - Have found myself being drawn back for the odd run here and there. Still deliciously addictive!

Have a lovely weekend, guys, and please take great care of yourselves out there.
