@-wc- Oh, absolutely, mate. I remember that the C64 in particular had some STAGGERING games towards the end, games which seemed technically impossible. The Amiga too.

I don't know why, but I find his foot on the NA / EU cover to be vaguely disturbing.

Yeah, this makes sense due to the backwards compatibility, else some of the functionality in games would be locked out. It also seems that Amiibo have been a big money spinner for Nintendo, so no surprises here! A very sensible move, I think!

Ah... those were the days!!! I remember doing the same thing with Short Circuit on the C64... I loved the film, and the cover of the game made it irresistible! As for the game itself... we don't talk about that.

@Anti-Matter But... imagine that it was an update for a game which you really liked... like The Sims, or Animal crossing, or Barbie... you wouldn't want more content to play?

@Anti-Matter I can maybe understand your frustrations in relation to physical releases of the game, but surely it is a truly great thing to see a dev support and continuously nurture a game like this? So many games seem to be released and then abandoned... I think it's amazing how much effort and care Eric has put into his game... especially considering that a lot of the new content has been free!

I would love to see a remaster of Beautiful Katamari. I think it's easily the best game in the series, although I may be in the minority with that opinion!

I ordered Parasol Stars from them in January 2024. Considering that it launched on the eShop many moons ago, they really should have it over the line by now. Seems like an utter shambles.

I haven't been posting much in this article recently, due to having switched over to the Rog Ally X, but I will pop up now and then if I'm playing something which I would hope to see on Switch 2. This time, it is Lies Of P. Although some dismissed it as just another "souls-like", it is so much more that that. It has an interesting story, good characters, and the combat is excellent. I absolutely love it, and am currently 120 hours in, on NG++. It is excellently designed, and I am still finding it utterly compelling. Very much recommended to fans of this style of game, it would be a 10/10 for me. I would really hope for it to come to Switch 2, especially as the devs are still working on the DLC, so it is still an on-going project. THPS 3 is just amazing... the best in the series, in my opinion. Great soundtrack too, although I don't know if all of the songs would make it across to a remaster. THPS 4 was, for me, the game where the series began to err. The more open levels just felt a bit empty and soulless to me... I much preferred the tight and jam packed levels of 3.

These are bold, that's for sure. I love the fact that they didn't play it safe at all... they really went all in. Great stuff.

I'm not sure why, but there's something about the NA/EU cover which I find hard to process visually. Every time I see it, I have to stare at it for a while to make out the various different elements. I think that, maybe, the red strip on the right hand side confuses things somewhat? I always find it uncomfortable to look at. So I have gone for Japan here.

@JohnnyMind Yeah, absolutely! I mean... what would one even do with a Switch 2 right now anyway? It would be impossible to go online with it (due to the fear of being caught, and presumably the servers aren't public yet anyway), and no Switch 2 games would be available. Maybe one could play Switch 1 games, and that's it! Although, as Ollie says, maybe it's more aimed at businesses... but what a chance to take!

Oooof. Think I'll have to go for Japan, but I too harbour a dislike of the tear and the faces. I would have preferred an "all map" approach.

@Novamii Ah, that's a shame. We decided to try a wireless 4G router simply because our broadband was so unreliable, and kept going down. We've had it for years now, and it's amazingly reliable. No cables to get messed up! 😆 But, yeah, it does depend on what the coverage is like in your area. But when 4G is "uncapped" (unlike on mobiles, where it is throttled), it can be pretty sweet! Well, I hope that you can find a good solution.

@Novamii What I am about to say may be of no use to you whatsoever, but... it sounds like you're using broadband? What is the 4G like in your area? I have a little 4G router, which is completely wireless, and it outstrips my broadband usually. Just a thought. Apologies if it doesn't apply to you.

@BulkSlash That's a great shout! Although, could they not incorporate that into the power button? I think that's how the ROG Ally X does it.

I really like the idea of this, but I would fear for the durability over time. I would also be worried about modules working loose during more frantic play sessions! I can imagine a few parts flying around due to Mario Kart, for example! 😆

@honshu Hey there! Yeah, it's an X. Am loving it so far. I have been surprised to see how many Steam games are incompatible with the Steam Deck... quite a problem. ☹️ I am loving the Steam sales! Although I can see that 1TB doesn't last long in PC land! 😆

I hope that everyone had a great Christmas, full of cheer and joy! I have fully switched over to the ROG Ally now, but am playing two games which will hopefully appear on Switch 2. The first is Visions Of Mana. I am only five hours in, but it has been incredible so far. It is simply beautiful to look at, with a staggering amount of attention to detail. Gameplay wise, it feels close to classic Mana, so we will see if it can keep that up! The second is Returnal, which is fast paced, and flows wonderfully. In terms of structure, it is very close to Isaac, so it feels strangely familiar for me! 😆 I am not very far in, but it is very good so far. @Anti-Matter I doubt if Sony will be too happy with those sales figures, particularly considering that it's for the week before Christmas... and then, also, comparing them with the Switch numbers.

My favourite example of this is in some of the Zelda games, where you can enter a house, pick up some pots, and throw them around, smashing them. People are just fine with this. 😆

I think that, in relation to the quality of the actual art, Japan wins, but the Japan cover overall just feels a bit lifeless and drab somehow. The NA/EU cover is bold and engaging, I think, so I went for that one!

There's a moment in the game where he comments about not having hands, so that would seem to be that!

I'm really surprised to see Metal Slug Attack Reloaded in that list. I enjoyed it myself. Fun little time waster, as long as you understand what you're signing up for beforehand.

@DartMonkey I can't see Library Of Ruina on the list? Is that because of the "invasion" which took place? ☹️ It is one of my GOTY candidates, along with Balatro and Pocket Card Jockey.

The Japanese cover looks a bit messy to me. I like the EU/NA cover. I particularly like how the hunter is looking towards the camera, apparently oblivious to the huge threat directly behind him! 😆
