Re: Disney Dreamlight Valley Will No Longer Be Free-To-Play When It Leaves Early Access In December

Throwing out a positive(!) comment to mix with the above. I paid fortyish Aussie dollars for this in the early days and it is my most played switch game. As in more than BOTW and TOTK and Dragon Quest 11S. So I think I got my moneys worth. I have never felt inclined to spend any more money on the game, nor do I feel like there is anything too predatory there.

I understand it’s different for other people, and maybe kids would want to buy all the cosmetic stuff though, so that’s fair. But if it were free to play they would probably push this aspect even more?

Personally I like this game and have gotten back into it for Halloween season. Glad it is not being overhauled to be F2P.

I paid forty bucks or so, and have got my moneys worth and then some (100+ hours). I havent been a fan of the new additions but the early days were a lot of fun. I have not spent any more money on the game, and never would in future. So i am happy with it staying the way it is also, as when it goes F2P it might get more scummy.

I can understand those that dont want to shell out the upfront cost though, and i certainly wouldnt at this late stage in case it goes free to play suddenly after purchase!

Was super excited for this. Big platformer and Disney fan.

Having now finished the game, i'd say it was mostly fun but a little... empty feeling perhaps? Hard to put into words. The controls were excellent and it was funny. I found the characters a smidge too small, and the game a bit too linear and repetitive. Got sick of frequently finding 3 keys for a door. Other than the characters themselves, the hidden mickeys and collectibles it didnt feel that Disney like to me? Though maybe im just old.

I rated it a 7. Good fun but didnt quite satisfy as much as i was hoping. I hope others have fun with it, and i'd love to see more Disney games in the near future.

I didnt get to play multiplayer, that sounds really fun and could be a game changer.

@rjejr yeah you are probably right, the ship may have sailed for XCX this generation. I just remember reading the reviews for it and it sounded a little different and interesting compared to 2 & 3. I know it didnt review as well though. I finally finished Zelda the other day, so may be in the market for another time sink.

I havent had a Playstation since the second one, wouldn't mind one but I am a handheld gamer now mostly so I probably wouldnt get the value out of it... *looks over at Xbox gathering dust

@rjejr happy 15 years!! I’ve been here maybe 10, lurked for quite a long time. Now I comment but usually on older posts as I am playing catch-up with all the articles I want to read. Not as much time these days. Also there is a bunch more news these days as compared to the Wii U era. But that was a lot of fun!

I enjoy reading your comments and remember some particularly long NEStalgia back and forths lol.

As for me, currently waiting on Xenoblade X to be ported from Wii U. One of the few Wii U games I didn’t play as I was still finishing the original at the time. I don’t want to play 2 or 3 until then.
