I have a hard time seeing Zelda work as a 3D movie. It would either have to be 2D or live action, though live action would probably need some liberties for the costumes to not look ridiculous. Anime would probably work best, but considering what Nintendo would expect out of it, it is probably too niche.
Good to stay consistent.
VA in BOTW was generally mediocre imo, even in Japanese.
Nintendo is new to it, feels like the direction is just not good enough. Having Summerset speak as if her soul is leaving her body on every breath was never going to work. Plus no dialogues existing and every piece of VA being a monologue was never going to feel natural.
Will have to wait and see a performance analysis. It did look like it was dropping frames a lot in some previews that I saw when certain effects showed up. Hopefully they will do a first day patch to iron some things out.
Even more hopefully they will announce a new console sooner rather than later. The Switch started showing its age a long time ago and it is a shame for what looks like what will be an incredible game to suffer from potentially poor performance on top of looking so blurry.
@WhensDinner even if uncredited, you can still put your work in your CV and talk about it in interviews. It's not like not being in the credits blocks you from doing it.
Still since credits in games exist, all people that worked on a game should be properly credited.
A beautiful love letter to the series that was clearly made with a lot of love and passion. Glad to see it is reaching an audience beyond the Mario fanbase.
Love the new mechanics but I want a more proper trailer to hype me up. Sadly it does make the Switch really show its age for me, wish it was less blurry. Will definitely replay on the Switch 2
@alexybubble Rollback is quite an expensive process. The game needs to rerun a bunch of frames in a single frame to do the rollback. I imagine they couldn't get it working without dropping performance so they opted out.
There is a ton of Japanese light novels about video games. They are just not mainstream in the west.
Personally I find books like Ready Player One just dull. Pretending games are more than what they are to try to create a grand story is just not working for me.
Hope this direct being underwhelming means that they will start spending more time developing the games instead of rushing them out. Unlikely but I can only hope.
If it was a remake, it would have been fine not to give detailed credits of the original team. This is a remaster though, aside from the fresh coat of paint and a few QOL additions, it is the exact same game, running the exact same code. They should 100% have complete credits of the original team, since their work is used directly.
Seeing at this guy's recent tweets, aside from this and the door comment, he has only been saying that it is an amazing remaster and retweeting positive comments about it. So some of the comments in this comment section are just plain fake news.
They are still drip feeding information about the game. Doesn't matter too much to me, it is still my most anticipated game of the year. I imagine we will get a Zelda direct a month or so before release.
Also sounds like we might get to play as Zelda as well?
Can't wait to replay these.Origins I emulated a couple of years ago, but the original I haven't played since it came out on the GC, looking forward to it!
Japanese devs are being paid peanuts compared to other big countries. Nintendo is making mad profits from their sales even compared to most companies that pay their devs much much more than they do. Let's not pretend the price increase of the games was done to pay the new salaries, as if Nintendo cannot already pay them much more than that.
Really good on their part to release player hosted servers, most other games in this situation just pull the plug and offer no way to play the game after that.
Hope this doesn't affect the business side of E3, or at least something else comes to replace it. Most deals between publishers and developers happen during those events, ending E3 completely could mean the death of AA developers.
On PC I am 100% digital. On Switch I am only buying physical. Nintendo doesn't ever do good digital sales, so buying physical is always cheaper, but also Nintendo seems to always be the first to pull the plug on digital content, so I don't trust them at all with my digital purchases.
I thought it was a decent year, especially compared to some of the almost barren previous years like 2020 and 2021.
It got Xenoblade 3, a Kirby game that I actually enjoyed, Bayonetta 3, Mario Rabbids 2, Triangle Strategy, two Pokemon games, Splatoon 3 (not for me, but a big release), Live A Live.
And also some great multiplatform games, like, Nier Automata and Persona 5, Crisis Core, Tactics Ogre Reborn, Return To Monkey Island, etc
A bit of something for everyone I would say. Maybe not many huge first party titles, but still a good year.
Monolith Soft is one of my favourite game studios. Loved their games since Baten Kaitos. Even Disaster Day of Crisis was quite a decent game, despite being very different to their usual games.
Their games are also generally getting better and better, so it is always exciting to see what they release next.
Called this a year ago. It was obvious that the OLED model was meant to be a Pro model, but due to the shortages they cancelled the upgraded SoC.
The OLED released simply because Nintendo had already done deals with Samsung for the screens.
I am still hoping for the successor to come out in 2023, even though DF sound pessimistic about it. If it comes out after 2023, I really hope the SoC we know Nvidia was working on for Nintendo is the canned one, otherwise it will be extremely outdated by then.
@WallyWest I do watch the odd actual movie that comes out. Just waiting for the era of super hero commercials disguised as films to end so we get more of them.
The game's ending was really disappointing and it had quite a few QOL issues. It definitely had its budget cut at some point, I imagine due to the poor WiiU sales. I would love for them to port it, sort out its QOL issues and add more to the story after the ending.
Looks like it will be a fun family movie. Love to see Funky Kong in there. Charlie Day as expected has the perfect voice for Luigi and Anya Taylor-Joy also a great fit for Peach. I wonder if DK will actually have any lines or if he will just make noises.
Mario seems a bit too goofy in this trailer, I doubt he will be like that throughout the whole movie, being the protagonist and all.
Really curious to see how this is going to look on the Switch and what the performance will look like. Judging by how it looks on the other platforms, it is probably going to be one of the most if not the most ambitious ports.
Fact she tried to also pretend her situation is like that of the UK nurses who earn in a year what she would have earned in 4 days is kind of disgusting.
@CharlieGirl Agreed. But I think 15k for 4 half days of work is more than fair. Even the original claim of 4k is a perfectly fair amount. Understandably VAs need to be paid more by the hour compared to regular workers since they don't have daily work, but I think it is the lower end of VAs that are struggling, not the protagonists, like in this case.

@stipey No, it is their salary and yes it is very low. Japanese companies pay their devs pennies.

Awesome! But please give us a boxed version like with Torna!
Re: Talking Point: Should Link Have Voice Acting In The Next Zelda Game?
@Mattock1987 Knowing Nintendo, they would never pay the money required to get Chris Pratt to voice Link in one of the games.

Hope they can fix the visuals for this one a bit. Ys VIII looked so bad it was unplayable for me. The ground, especially the grass, was nauseating.

The box is definitely a real box.
I don't see them changing the box design though for the oled (they didn't for the pokemon special edition), so I would bet on this being a fake.

Re: Random: Peach's Mario Movie VA Anya Taylor-Joy Says She's A Gamer Now
