Nothing wrong with trying new things, if they didn't the series would just feel stale at this point. Looks like there is some issues with the execution of said new things, but hoping they still bring some freshness to the series.
Metroid is my second favourite franchise and I am really looking forward to playing this!
Still waiting on Nintendo to put Famicom Detective Club on sale in the UK (or even better give us a physical release). I think they have forgotten the game exists.
I will probably pick it up at some point when it's at a lower price point. Can't justify paying full price for a musou game despite the Zelda paint on it and well I have more games than time to play them anyway. Metroid is coming up as well which I am going to enjoy thoroughly.
I don't think Nintendo is doing game key cards to protect the industry or to make more profits. They do it because they have no other option. If the information we have is true, there is no smaller cartridge than the 64GB available and they cost >20$ per cartridge to the publisher. Safe to assume no one makes smaller memory chips that support those speeds for Nintendo to use (at least not yet, but the Switch 2 success could change that).
Nintendo never lowers the prices of their games and increased them as well, so they can absorb that. Most third parties though have different strategies, aggressively putting their games on offer after a few months, not something they can do effectively when production cost is so high.
There is also the read speed limitation of the cartridges as we saw with outlaws, but that is a different story.
We know from the recent questionnaire that Nintendo does know the keycards are a problem, now if they can actually address the issue we will find out. I would like for them to at least provide lower speed cartridges (same ones as the Switch uses) for Switch 2 games that don't need them as much, even if it means the cartridge version is going to have much slower loading times.
While I think game key cards are better than what we had on the Switch with the "Download required" software, I still do not like them and will not be buying games using them unless they are on a heavy discount.
Hope it is developed by Monolith to potentially get some extra story. I have a feeling though that this one is done by an external partner and monolith will be focusing on Switch 2.
Other people commented on it already, but it is unbelievable that he spent such an huge amount of money to make these videos knowing he would get nothing back. Absolute legend.
I don't see how you can sue someone for breaching a patent that did not exist when they created their product. We will eventually get the details and find out which patents Nintendo is suing for.
If indeed those patents are part of the lawsuit, I can see this being an attempt by Nintendo to get access to Palworld dev assets as part of the lawsuit and figure out if they were illegally made from Pokemon (be it using the pokemon assets and editing them or pokemon trained AI).
I am happy enough with my Switch that I will support the successor day one regardless of price. That being said, I expect something around 350-399 quid. Anything above would be a hard sell for the masses. Especially at the current state of the economy.
Looks like Nintendo had a good case on them. You can argue if the illegal things Yuzu were doing should be illegal, but fact is according to US law at least, they are illegal.
There is no argument about preservation for the Switch at this point in time. The Switch is still a fully supported console by Nintendo after all.
The Yuzu devs were making money out of the emulator, knowing that now is the time for them to do so. Piracy demand for a console is at its highest when that console is active and its games are fresh after all. They are absolutely not innocent people working for preservation.
If they were doing this 10 years from now, I don't think Nintendo would care enough and preservation would have been unaffected.
PLA is likely my favourite Pokemon game after the original. The new dynamics around the pokemon trainer made it feel really fresh (something only the OG pokemon games had for me). The best part is that it had a ton of room for improvement as well, so I am hoping they will further expand on the concept and continue with the bold choices.
As always the devil is in the details. Doesn't look like Nintendo is going after them for making an emulator, but rather for other things they did. Obviously though they do want them to stop the emulation development.
In the end, the court of law will decide if they did break the law or not.
This is a good thing. If TPC does not sue, it means they consider that no plagiarism has taken place. If they do sue, then we will find out from the outcome if any plagiarism took place. So this can finally be put to rest.
The designs do look like they could have been generated by an AI trained on Pokemon. Some of them really look like a mix and match of different Pokemon.
In the end, if there is indeed plagiarism involved, I am sure TPC will go the legal route and if they do, we will learn from the verdict if any foul play was involved. Palworld is made by a Japanese developer, so it is not like it's a company hiding in China they can't touch.
On the comments on visuals and performance. I don't think the game exists on the Switch, so we can't compare. If they port it eventually, we will be able to judge.
They have done a really nice jobs with the designs imo, even if they have definitely taken a lot of inspiration from Pokemon. The models look really nice from what I have seen.
The world using Unreal Engine default assets and textures everywhere puts me off trying it though, plus the mixamo-like animations. Makes the game look like a prototype to me. The artstyle is just inconsistent right now and all over the place.
Legends Arceus is one of my favourite Pokemon games, Palworld feels closer to that by having a more dynamic character (maybe a bit too dynamic, shooting arrows etc at creatures is definitely a very different approach to Pokemon). So I might give it a go once it is actually complete and out of early access.
Kamiya was one of the founders of platinum, it makes sense to include his departure to the recap. Him walking out with a box was something he did himself as a joke, so I think it matches the tone of the music in that regard.
Dude is a millionaire and will always be able to make money out of being the original voice of Mario. So no matter whose decision this was, he will be perfectly fine. He doesn't need anyone's pity.
It is really good timing for Martinet to retire as the voice of Mario. Incredible final game and playing Mario's dad in the movie, if anything, makes this a beautiful send off.
Whoever is voicing Mario in Wonder is doing an incredible job, so it looks like Mario's voice is safe.
Kinda weird trying to fill in those patents, considering both have been done by other games in the past. I don't think they can hold any legal ground in the future for Nintendo to chase others, but they might be helping them defend against patent trolls.
That's a great regulation. More battery life is the only reason I upgrade my phone every few years.
Companies have made people believe that batteries are made non user replaceable to make the devices smaller or water resistant. Both are complete lies though.
There is also so many products that will improve from this, like beard trimmers, which tend to have soldered batteries that die within a couple of years.
I never grinded and easily finished the game with maxed out gear. Having rupees matter made me have to make choices on how to approach problems, which makes the game much more interesting.
At the same time, the game might be too hard for some people, so nothing wrong with them exploiting since it is a single player game. Also nothing wrong with Nintendo fixing their game.
As much as I am not a fan of MS buying Activision, these FTC lawyers just sound like Sony lawyers. They must be getting some ...funding.
COD games were million sellers on the Wii despite being lesser versions and on a console with a far more casual audience than the switch. It will probably not sell as well as on other platforms but it will still make big profits.
I thought it was a good direct all things considered. At least 3-4 games I look forward to. It is clear the Switch is now on life support and getting the cheaper, end of lifetime games, but it is to be expected.
Ubisoft have damaged their own brand by aggressively lowering the prices of their games soon after release. Why buy their games early when in a couple of months they are half the price or less.
Not sure how people have money issues on TotK. I have hundreds of gems and monster parts to make money out of and basically be able to buy anything I need.
I like that they finally made rupees have a reason to exist and that they make you choose wisely on what you are willing to sell and balance your inventory the way you choose.
@Jamies Some people like to play with cheats, this is no different.
In most Zelda games before BotW you used to have so many rupees they became pointless. I personally like that you now have a harder time and you need to choose between selling stuff or using them for making stronger weapons. Rupees finally matter but some people don't like it.

@Spider-Kev All I've seen is that Vietnam asked for the tariffs to be delayed. Nothing about the tariffs being canned.

I just hope the prices for games were raised in anticipation of the tariffs, otherwise they will go further up

Smart move for them to wait until interest in the game has died down. Will be far less backlash from communities.

Re: Soapbox: Sony's Insane PS5 Pro Price Highlights The Delicate Balance Nintendo Must Strike With 'Switch 2'
Sony usually sells their consoles at a loss.
I assume with this one they decided to sell it with a decent profit instead.
Personally I think it is a good decision. They have the base ps5 that they can keep on selling at a loss for people to enter their ecosystem.
They sell the ps5 pro as a premium product that will not do incredible sale numbers, but will give them a good profit.
