Nothing wrong with that. Third parties no longer do exclusives unless paid to do so. In the end more people will play the game and the devs will make more money, so why not.
My launch joycons started drifting after 4 years, if I was using them a lot I wouldn't mind too much, but I barely used them since I was playing with the pro controller 99% of the time. I have bought almost every console and never had any problem with controllers (or the consoles), even my heavily abused N64 controllers from Mario Party are still perfectly functional.
Joycons are definitely the flimsiest product Nintendo has ever produced. I understand that it is the cheapest option for them to pick a random off the shelve stick that is already mass produced in China and call it a day, but they should have done some quality checks first. Fact they barely acknowledge it as an issue is not helping either.
Wonder how the expansion will fair. The base NSO is much cheaper than the competition but it is still well off PS Plus and Xbox Live numbers. The expansion bringing it to about the same price as them, I can't see it doing nearly as good.
It is silly to excuse the service being terrible by saying it is "cheap". First of all it basically costs as much as the competition now and it doesn't even offer half the value. Regardless though "a price of a coffee every month" is not an excuse to offer a crappy service.
I can afford to throw 5$ in the bin every week, doesn't mean I will do it, because it is dumb, almost as dumb as paying for the expansion service.
Maybe WFH made Nintendo realise they don't need as many offices. Really Sucks for the employees, especially those in Toronto, they either have to move to the other side of Canada or quit. I hope they at least allow them to WFH for a while so they at least get some time to find a new job if they don't want to move.
When platform holders like Nintendo remaster old games and sell them at full price, they give good footing for 3rd parties to follow suit. At least this one contains three remastered titles instead of just one. Big titles as well where you can spend endless hours on, so I think the price is far from outrageous.
How dare people have different opinions to mine and express them to give Nintendo feedback! They should all be good puppies and lick Ninty's boots like I do!
@HenHiro I haven't played Sw/Sh so I don't really know how big that is, did look much bigger than monhun at least.
I definitely don't expect it to be as big as BotW. The Witcher 3 is the same in the sense that it is not fully open world since it is split in a few open maps that you travel between through loading screens. So I am expecting something similar, but probably smaller in size, at least compared to the bigger maps of TW3.
Wonder how big those areas are going to be, Witcher 3 size, or monster hunter size? Flying around seemed quite fast, so I would expect something fairly larger than monhun.
@dBackLash I can see why people might want to record a small clip here and there. But the majority I meet try to record almost the whole thing, which is extremely annoying if you are behind them.
If at the very least Nintendo had a cloud service like basically all other cloud gaming services, I would maybe consider it. But a cloud service that only works on the Switch also means it is going to be the first cloud service to shutdown, so yea not interested in the slightest.
I would expect the last character to be a first party one, but can't think of any that would be hugely impactful that is not already in the game, but maybe it doesn't need to be.
It could end up being some complete curveball, closing the curtains with something really iconic like Mickey Mouse or something.
Nintendo responding so fast probably means Bloomberg gave them a heads up before publishing the article, which is a common practice.
Considering how far away the rumour says the launch of the console could be, there is not much of a point to be taking it too seriously and even if it were true, it makes sense that Nintendo would want to shoot it down immediately.
Personally I am ready for an upgrade whenever it happens, but tbh this rumour if anything should give solace to any people scared of having a "Pro" model announced right after buying a Switch now, since it basically says that you shouldn't expect any upgrade by minimum end of next year and even that it makes it sound very unlikely.
I guess adding the translations to the NTSC versions would require more effort than just uploading a ROM and calling it a day. You can't expect any effort being put into this, it is not like you are paying extra for it ...oh wait.
Good direct for me. I think it is the best one in a long time, not that it was THAT great, but most of the directs of the last couple of years have been quite weak.
I wasn't expecting this movie to have that high of a budget, the cast is insane.
Nice to see Charles Martinet doing cameos. I am not surprised in the slightest he is not the voice of Mario though. This is a movie, so there is going to be dialogue, not just bing bang wahoos. Plus he is 66 years old, can retire at any point, not very future proof.
Those controller prices are bonkers, basically almost the same price as a full priced modern controller.
Will be interesting to see the new online tier price and if it will include anything else, because raising the price for 9 N64 games and 14 Genesis game is kind of a joke.
Will be interesting to see if this is just in France or a more global move.
Sales of the Switch will definitely start trending downwards YOY now, so maybe Nintendo is trying to ease the trend with a price drop.
It could be though that the OLED model will slowly phase out the regular model, so this is a move to start removing the regular model's inventory and replace it with OLED.
For me SF needs to be reimagined. The oldschool on rails style that Zero tried to recreate is very basic for this day and age. Wouldn't ever pay more than 20$ for an on rails game.
Space shooters have come a long way since SF64. SF needs to play catchup at some point, or stay in the freezer forever.
I will take a new game over a port any day, especially that of a game that is not even very old. That being said, XCX with added content would still get me excited.
Hope the focus is in making a good game instead of having a million Pokémon. I get that they want to sell 100 new plushies and toys with each new game, but I want to play a good game.
1st quote made me laugh. The Switch is uncomfortable to hold because it is so small and not ergonomic. Obviously a device that put ergonomics first, making it larger, will feel much better to hold. It is the Verge of course so no surprise.
Steam Deck looks good, but I will pass on this first iteration. If it is successful enough to warrant a second gen and games get preset settings for it, I will definitely consider it though. There is a lot of PC games I have I would rather play on a Switch style device in bed than on my PC.
The article is more or less spot on. Last year was abnormal for games due to the lockdowns. The OLED model was not exciting and there hasn't been a big hitter game since Animal Crossing. Pokemon Arceus and Splatoon 3 are the upcoming titles that can become big hitters, so until then it makes sense for investors to be wary.
Finished this on PC. I would say it was average at best. It had some potential, combat was OK, but it is way too repetitive and the characters never drift from their stereotypical personas.
I have heard that the originals are better, but never got to play them.
Desperate Struggle was definitely not the better game. The characters and boss fights of the first game were far superior (which is the whole point of the series). The open world played no role in making the game any better or worse.
Still I see people trying to move the goalpost to defend their wrong comment instead of just admitting they were wrong.
Not sure how they have managed to make this look so bad and at the same time also perform terribly. Doesn't look too different to the original Wii game, probably runs at the same resolution.
The ports of 1&2 look so much better. They should have stuck to a similar art direction instead of going for something they don't have the time for.
I like NMH but I am not paying full price for this, will wait for a big sale on it.
Seeing the story all in one video made me start thinking about how it could work for a movie/series. The story is a bit all over the place and Ridley showing up all the time with different forms feels like it wouldn't work. I think if they were to do something like a series they could pick a few things from the story but then go with something original instead to make it work.
@jowe_gw *Steam has 12 Million users. Really good actually. The Switch sold 80+ million units. Heck, the Wii U sold more than users have Steam with that number.*
You drunk? There is over 1 billion steam accounts and Steam has 120 million monthly active users.
Really don't understand how some people see this and think it will be uncomfortable. On the contrary it looks extremely comfortable. There is a really decently sized grip and the buttons and sticks are not close to the bottom where you would have to bend your thumb to reach.
It does look very ugly though and has huge bezels. Overall it looks like it is going to be a great product. Wish Nintendo would have offered something similar tbh.
You can buy $250 phones that are far more powerful than the Switch and even use higher res screens etc. I don't see why people get surprised when Nintendo is selling their hardware at high profits, it is something they always do.
I love NMH but I will wait for the price drop, can play other games until then. I am not sure what went so wrong, but judging by the visuals the game is being rushed out. Oh well, at least it looks like Dread has great performance.
Did people doubt that games are being improved and polished right until the point they go gold? Did they think that companies pay developers to spin around their chairs? First time I hear of that.
It does look like there are some improvements and changes as you would expect, but we are also comparing direct footage to low res blurry footage slapped on a green screen that has gone through multiple editing passes. We will have to wait for new direct footage to do a proper comparison.

Some I can think out of the top of my head: 1-2 Switch, ARMS, MK8D, Pokken, Sushi Striker (£40, still a joke), FE/Hyrule Warriors, DK:TF, TLoZ:LA, all Pokemon games on Switch so far, Advance Wars Bootcamp, Mario Party/Tennis/Golf/All Stars, Animal Crossing, Famicom Detective Club. So not sure why everyone is suddenly so surprised.
Didn't stop most of them selling a lot though, which is the goal of a corporation.

Remastering and releasing the games at full price one by one instead of doing a trilogy is a very Nintendo thing to do, so I believe this.
