Lack of royalties is perfectly understandable. VA are far from the most important people that work in games. On AAA games there is thousands of people involved. Everyone would deserve royalties, which would not be financially sane.
4000$ is too low of an offer for a game that I imagine will have a lot of lines for her to say. If it was a month's worth of work, then that is a very decent salary in terms of UK wages, but I imagine there would more to it than that.
I will wait to hear the other side as well though, because the Jesus quote of the final video gives me mental illness vibes, so there might be more into this than what we know so far.
I was lucky to get an order in early. It is mind-numbing how badly Nintendo is handling these despite having their own store. The fact they made less copies than the amount of people that had registered interest is just plain stupidity.
It is not hard to create a system for this to work smoothly and make everyone happy. Tie interest registration to accounts, not emails, reserve a copy for a week for each account that has registered interest. If they don't end up buying it, just sell it as normal afterwards.
Pleasantly surprised by Mario's voice (and all the voices really). It fits the visuals so well that I did not focus on it at all and a few seconds later realised that I just heard Mario's voice.
Mario has more of a baby-face than in the games, looks alright. I prefer the Odyssey style, but I guess they wanted to go for a more pleasant/cute face.
Something feels slightly off about his face but I really can't tell what, even when putting Mario from Odyssey next to this picture. Detail by detail it looks like a fairly faithful design, yet it feels wrong. Maybe it is the more chubby cheeks or just the pose. Maybe it is just the lack of shading details due to the print + picture.
In the UK it is a complete ***** show. They sent out an email a couple of weeks ago or so to be ready for the preorder to go up because there will be less copies than the people that have registered interest for it, so it will basically disappear within seconds. The preorder is still not up. Nintendo has handled this terribly.
@N00BiSH Yea. From a more objective point of view tales is probably better, but for me it failed to grasp the essence of MI and felt more like a classic telltale game with a MI coat of paint.
Finished the game. Absolutely loved it, but I do have some reservations about how it ended (which I will not discuss to not spoil anyone).
Great music, the graphic style worked out great and really well made puzzles. I don't think there was a single case of a ***** puzzle that made no sense that the previous MI games had a few of.
Admittedly Curse was the first one I ever played. Thinking back, maybe it took a bit too much inspiration from the previous games, but still it is my favourite of the series.
I thought it was a pretty good direct. FE, OT2, Pikmin 4 main highlights for me.
Lots of games announced for the console though and a lot of love from Square.
I think the lack of 3rd party support from the past has created a culture of only caring about exclusives among Nintendo fans. Making directs like this one feel lackluster even though they showed a lot of good games.
@Royalblues Sakurai did write on his column about it a while back. He said they tried it and it had too many side effects, so they did not go with it.
With rollback the game basically has to go back and replay many frames of gameplay in a single frame, if the hardware is not powerful enough it will cause hitches. I imagine that is one of the issues they saw in smash.
It is most likely the hardware being too weak for rollback in some more complex games. Weak to support it while keeping the frame rate solid at least. Same reason why Nintendo did not use it for smash basically.
Devs need more effort to support two systems instead of one, so not having rollback on specific platforms adds more work for them.
I am on the same boat. I never bothered with Splatoon 2 because it was too much like the first game, which I played enough to not want to play more of the same.
Splatoon 3 gives me the same vibe. The initial reveal had me hoping for something more, but none of the follow up videos demonstrated what I was hoping the reveal implied.
I will probably skip this one like the previous one, unless they reveal something new and exciting.
I really liked PH, it had its problems but it also had one of my all time favourite Zelda characters (Linebeck). Spirit tracks story was a bit too goofy and I found the overworld with the train mechanic quite boring.
I don't remember anyone complaining when AW2 was released the year the USA invaded Iraq. Where was the empathy then?
It is understandable to delay the release of the game so it doesn't release close to the start of the war, but as others have mentioned, if Nintendo wants to make a real difference, they should give all the profits of the game's sales to Ukraine.
At the very least they could have made a statement in the investor meeting that they stopped sales in Russia because they do not support the war instead of saying they did it because the payment provider they use suspended transactions and due to shipping difficulties.
A few weeks? Is the website run by amateurs or what? Imagine amazon going down for a few weeks for maintenance.
I think it is more likely to be related to legal trouble. They probably have to stop sales until they fix something before they can restart sales in the EU
Makes sense. The WiiU barely got any shelve space at shops. No shop would waste shelve space trying to sell second gamepads, so your option would either be to order one online or do the almost impossible task of finding a second person that owns a WiiU. Any game that would require a second gamepad would be DOA.
One of my most anticipated games this year. Art style is different than what I expected, but looks great. It is what the original creator of the series chose as well.
People are free to not like it, not buy the game and comment on that. Getting to the point to harass the developers though just shows how small of a brain they have in their heads.
Sure there is a low chance of meeting people randomly, but there is a multiplayer hub and you can always party up with friends and play together.
When I played the game a couple of years back, I don't think I would have played it more than a couple of hours if I was playing it alone. I don't see any point in playing a survival game solo that almost has no story.
It is a big omission, I imagine they have trouble getting the performance to an acceptable level when other players are involved. Hopefully they will figure it out soon after launch.
Gave it a go. Performance seemed solid 30fps to me (handheld). The animation frame rate of other players is really low though, which maybe gives people the impression of performance being bad.
Even won a crown!
Queue times are a big issue. There is a lot of players playing even on steam, so most likely there is some technical issue.
@HotGoomba you should probably stop buying games then. 1-2 years after release you can get most games at less than half price. Wait another 1-2 years and you can get them for a tenner.

@CharlieGirl Agreed. I think they should be able to do one gig for 4 days and never have to work again.

So Jason Schreier says in this thread that Bloomberg reviewed evidence proving Taylor was lying.
Let's see the mental gymnastics people will pull now, because admitting they were wrong is impossible.

Not Xenoblade please, music of XC1,2,3 is already perfect.

Re: Video: Are 'Pokémon Presents' Showcases Becoming Too Predictable?
I don't think many predicted the announcement of a new gen when they announced scarlet and violet.
In showcases like this one though I don't think anyone was expecting surprises.
Re: Nikkei Report Says No New Nintendo Hardware Is Coming This Fiscal Year
Gotta wait a bit longer to be able to play games on the switch with stable frame rates 🤞
Re: Nintendo Reports Drop In Sales For Q1- Should We Be Worried?
I don't see the semiconductor shortage being an issue for the switch. It is readily available everywhere for people to buy.
The Switch is just naturally reaching the end of its lifecycle like every other console does eventually.

Ninja dropping the collector's edition pre-order, not cool at all Nintendo. Didn't even get a chance.

@Pigeon Can you tell us please how much the art style you imagine should have been used would have roughly cost and how much this art style did cost?

Classic degenerate animals.

Solid 8/10. Was very pleasantly surprised. Much more exciting than many regular directs.

Re: Round Up: Every Game And Trailer From The Nintendo Direct Mini: Partner Showcase June 2022
Pleasantly surprised with this direct. Really interested in Nier, Persona 3,4,5 and Harvestella. Monkey Island a must buy as well, but probably on PC.
Re: Nintendo Direct Mini To Air Tomorrow, June 28
Hope we get persona 5 at least (not cloud version ofc)
Re: Random: Zelda: The Wind Waker Was Originally Going To Feature A Theremin
Sounds like a faff, glad Miyamoto shot this down.
Re: Miyamoto Wasn't A Fan Of The Art Style In Zelda: Wind Waker
Goes to show you that developers with guts can achieve their vision even if Miyamoto does not agree with it.
Not surprised Miyamoto preferred a realistic look, it is what he envisioned from the start of the series after all.

Re: Mario Movie Producer Defends Chris Pratt's Casting (Again), Says Movie Is 75% Complete
People that have a problem with a non-Italian portraying an Italian need to read up the definition of acting.
Also if you had ancestors 200 years ago that were Italian, but your family lives in the US since, guess what, you are not Italian.
