@Nanami_Ataraxia '02 kid here, and I agree lol. Pokémon names are getting a lot harder to remember overall. I was talking about this with a friend on Sunday; I can remember every 'mon's name when seeing it up to X & Y, I'm decently confident in Sun & Moon, iffy on SwSH, and uncaring on ScarVi.
As @spottedleaf pointed out, I think it's just that we've gotten older. Such is life!
If you haven't played Super Mario Land 2 yet, do yourself a favor and get on that. It's very short but very sweet.
Also I find it hilarious that every single one of those "Fantastic Firsts" outside of Wario never escaped Super Mario Land 2. I'd love to see more elements from that game be used again.
Pheremosa is a good name for this because it sounds science-y enough to not raise suspicion while also being a direct reference for those in the know, haha
At the very least, I wish Nintendo would bring back fun little skits and sketches to Directs. They don't need a big blowout like in E3s past, but just something that isn't the usual "Hi, I'm [Nintendo executive]. Here's [video game]."
If anyone else pays attention to Fortnite goings-on, this isn’t the only huge leak we’ve had for the next season. Apparently, community dataminers Hypex and Shiina both received credible leaks that the next season will be “Neo-Tokyo” themed, what every skin in the Battle Pass will be (including guest character Eren from Attack on Titan), and more. Next season is shaping up to be real good if all this is true.
I preordered a physical copy and what I've played of it so far has really impressed me. I absolutely love how the graphics look modern but the animations feel older, if that makes any sense. It's a weird juxtaposition but I think it works; it gives me a real "this is how you remember the game looking" vibe without actually having played the game before. I'm excited to play it more when I get the chance.
Western box art wins here because it better represents what the game is about - the duality between Link and Wolf Link. The JP one isn't bad about this at all (Link is bridging the lighter and darker halves of the artwork), but the Western one is more obvious about its symbolism, which I think is more important in box art.
Any old Joe Schmoe can look at the Western art and be link, "Woah, does that guy have a wolf? Does he turn into a wolf?" I don't think you can say the same for the JP one; can't imagine anyone seeing it and saying "Woah, does that guy become a bridge between a light and a dark world?"
As many have said, I'm waiting for that sweet Ubi sale so I can grab the game for dirt cheap. It looks like fun, but like, I'd be crazy not to wait for a sale given Ubisoft's history.
Probably won't play the demo since I'm busy with life and other games, but a game getting a demo is always always always a good thing. Always!
@PessitheMystic Same LOL. I read the opening, thought "I know how this goes," and skipped to the poll. I was still entertained though, and the article still got my click, so all's well that ends well?
They both look awesome. Paradox Pokemon are, in my opinion, one of the coolest things to happen to this franchise and I'm glad they're taking the opportunity to add more.
@Sambuc Same here; I went into my local GameStop to grab my preorder and the employee had to tell me she had no clue where her shipment of copies was. Not the biggest deal in the world, but still frustrating.
@Uncle_Franklin I'd agree with you if the difference wasn't so negligible - it's less than the original by one point. Something tells me we probably won't have to worry about a one point score difference.
I’m curious as to how well Inkblot as a stage will work (Wahoo World was so fun to navigate in Salmon Run), but nonetheless I’m hyped for more BIG RUN BABY WOOOO
I wonder if it would’ve been better marketing to strike the video or to leave it up. By striking it, they get people excited that it’s potentially real. By leaving it up, they get people talking and speculating about the possibilities. Either way it’s free PR, haha, no matter how real or fake the set ends up being.
Would be really cool if some Game Boy Cameras ended up here. I have one and it has pictures of the previous owner(s) that I refuse to delete since it’s such a cool way of the past communicating with the present (or some other existential bull LOL), so someone getting reunited with Game Boy Camera photos of who they used to be would be so special in my eyes.
Finally, I’ve been waiting for Splatune 3!! I have all the other Splatoon OSTs (except for the Wet Floor promo CD…one day) so it’ll be nice to finally have this one as well.
Using the Super Show theme hit me just right. I know it’s blatant nostalgia bait, but c’mon, man, that’s so awesome. I can still perform the rap from memory (it’s burned into my brain) and hearing it anew made my day.
It’s also super neat that the phone number actually works. Awesome stuff.
@KateGray I used to be a fiend for creating Twitter gimmick accounts and bots, but I never got to the point where I was running ten!! That's super impressive; it really is sad to watch so many projects that so many people worked so hard on get paywalled into oblivion
Oh shoot, I have an ARMS bot that will presumably go down because of this. I made it in high school and it's been chugging away since, even after I took down my personal accounts. End of an era, I suppose.
"There is also, of course, the return of the Dragon Ball emotes, which you can see a teaser of in the following tweet:"
Those aren't returning emotes; those are emotes exclusive to the Gohan and Piccolo skins respectively that allow them to power up/down (AKA transform between their two styles). None of the older Dragon Ball items have returned to the shop, at least not yet.
LOL why are they gonna include Gohan Beast and Orange Piccolo as sprays and not styles for their skins? Vegeta and Goku had four forms and these guys only have two...oh well. They look really good nonetheless. I'm really really glad that they brought back the Dragon Ball map items; they're so fun to use.
@NintendoDad A TATE adaptor for Switch does exist, but it's not officially by Nintendo. Fangamer's Flip Grip works well for what it is; I've used it before to play Downwell. I can't use it any longer because they aren't compatible with OLEDs, but if you have an original Switch they're pretty good!
One thing about Megalovania that makes it especially impactful is its lack of leitmotif, meaning it doesn't share any of the game's repeating melodies heard all throughout. It stands alone as its own track; its themes are not heard anywhere else and no other themes influence its runtime. The familiarity and thematic cohesion of the rest of the OST is subverted in a shocking way that makes the track more impactful. It's a monolith of the unknown and a driving force that burns itself into your memory until you conquer it or you give in...much like Sans' battle itself.
@InTree I was moreso going for extra playtesting / bug squashing rather than extra content. With this long of a delay, you'd think that'd give them more time to make the game look, feel, and play as smoothly as it possibly can.
I had the opportunity on launch day to cancel my paid in full normal preorder to get the Divine Edition for $40 USD more but simply couldn’t afford it LOL. Oh well, doesn’t really matter anyways. Glad the VA eventually could get his hands on one.
The ARMS wiki has always called the Helix clones found in 1-on-100 and Warm-Up mode “The Cell.” The only place the actual game refers to those enemies as “The Cell” is in Helix’s 1-on-100 victory screen, which also implies that they share a hivemind, with the screen saying “WE ARE THE CELL!”
Strangely enough, Helix’s 1-on-100 end screens the only ones where the Cell speaks. All other 1-on-100 end screens are an unknown narrator speaking directly to the fighter that you’re playing as.
…one could argue that all ARMS trivia is useless. Tee hee.
I much prefer the composition and posing of the NA one. It’s busy without being too busy like the JP one, and the alternate artwork feels more Western without being NES Mega Man levels of “more Western,” which I think is cool. I also really like how the bomb Bomberman is holding is also apart of the logo.
Lame support. You’d think in a game about using physical objects to summon characters that amiibo would go ham on the functionality, but oh well. At least they do something.
I really don't have an opinion on this. I would probably enjoy the game just as much with or without it. I am curious as to what they do with the mechanic though.

@Deltarogue What a wonderful idea; I may emulate that line of thinking!
Edit: that was not meant to be an emulation joke lol

This is great news til they inevitably chage $16 instead of the old $13 lol. Still better than buying it second hand...

Re: New Mario Bros. Movie Footage Shows Off Seth Rogan As Donkey Kong
The more I see of it, the less it feels like a Mario movie and more of just a “kid’s” animated flick with Mario characters inserted.
Which don’t get me wrong, it isn’t a bad thing at all! I like what I see; the movie looks very fun! It’s just something I wanted to point out.
