I love when museums work with local game developers; wish it was more commonplace. This has yet to be announced officially, but I got to play the follow up to A Short Hike during a game developer event at my local art gallery
I go on Nintendo Today daily, feeding my long-gone void that Quibi used to fill, of daily content to look at while cooking breakfast.
The content is alot of tidbits I’ve seen elsewhere. I do like getting the Splatoon idol bits and admiring extended details their models were given. Also, they’re going through the history of Fire Emblem now, which is alot of stuff that flew right passed me.
The Calandar stuff has been pretty useful so far. I’ve set notifications on for Developer Spotlights and Splatoon 3 events, but I wish I could set my own events on the calandar.
I got mine ordered in-store at GameStop, alongside the camera, controller, case, Street Fighter and all of its amiibo. I waited for 4 hours in-line, second overall. Mall security dispersed the line partway through though and then bounced out, just for the line-crowd to make their own queuing system to honor the former line, using qrq.app. What a weird situation, but I assume it worked out for a good chunk of the early risers.
Am I nuts for thinking Pro Controller drift isn’t much of an issue? I’ve had at least 6 Pro Controllers and while they have been worn and debris can get in the sticks, drift has never been a problem.
Am I wrong to think that its physically locked once in full Handheld mode (similar to Switch 1) and its not actually magnets holding it together by that point?
@speed_loafer The message they are trying to get across in this case is that the new owners bought them for their AR tech and don’t want to push for their games division.
Going to the Hallmark store is a guilty pleasure of mine. So many neat ones in this catalogue. Elephant Mario, Kraft Dinner, Pixar’s Knick Knack Snowglobe and Stone Cold Steve Austin are my favorites.
Honestly, completely beg to differ. I felt like seeing Switch 2 was seeing a strengthening if their identity. We got to see new experience that take advantage of the hardware like Jamboree TV, Drag X Drive and The Duskbloods, UI features that offer to bring players more connected with Game Chat and Share Play, and new titles that completely reinvigorate their series with Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Bananza. And they also added Kirby’s Air Ride with their set of upcoming reboots that brought so much fun in the past with Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream and Rhythm Heaven: Groove.
Its an interesting statement you make about the importance of local multiplayer, but despite the string of time I could guarantee having my own siblings around to play Mario Kart during the Double Dash/DS/Wii days, Mario Kart 8 still had my interest far more for the polish, course design, online infrastructure and balance. I played 8 far less locally than the others and very little of the fun I had was spent in the battle mode compared to the chaos of Double Dash, but 8 just always felt like a much more well made game and as a result I spent more time with it online and enjoyed my time far more.
I’m kinda surprised how much popularity the night owls have. But it was a good Splatfest. Those jarringly bright pastel colors really put Springfest out.
Its a whole lotta Splatoon 3 for this week’s SpringFest. Strangely enough alot of the matches so far have been washouts. Have won less matches overall, but my record is a better with my clutch 10X Wins.
I also want to shout out Puffies., which is the new Apple Arcade puzzle game from Lykegarde, developers of Stitch.. Its a jigsaw puzzle game using those charicature stickers that I grew up with. Alot of illustration work goes into every puzzle that aren’t the daily ones, its kinda freaky. I’m not in love with it, but it is pulling me to at least playing it daily and no more than 20 minutes a day.
Gamecube’s launch lineup was okay at best and still took a $50 price drop 6 months after launch.
Wii was $250 at launch, but its still a fair argument against my statement. However, that was still almost 20 years ago, when console manufacturers still believed in competitive pricing.
Let’s be honest. No console is ever worth its price at launch, especially when you already have the system prior to it. It is neat and unexpected to me that Nintendo is still going strong with the Switch 1 for now, with Pokemon Legends Z-A, Tomodachi Life and Rhythm Heaven, not to mention the third party/indie support that’s still going to be strong for at least a few more years. Ideally, you can wait a while until the hits like 3D Mario and a new Pokemon generation and a new Zelda starts rolling out.
Eh, not a great interview and I get that Nate is like every Nintendo executive in that they have to remain reserved and secretive, but did you really expect to get a good answer when you decide to ask about Mother 3?
Fun fact about Nate is that he’s slso the voice actor of Salvatore in Wind Waker, so you can hear his voice if you choose to boot up the game at launch and make some progress over to the other islands.
On one had, I like that we get that corner back on the screen. We should get less cluttered boxarts from it. But the art bleeding into the spines won’t look good on shelves
Kirby Air Ride was such an inviting game back when my family had it on the GameCube. It excites me so much that Sakurai is directing a new one and its from the Smash Ultimate team
Instant purchase. Been watching, reading and playing Mike’s stuff for years now. Love to read more insight on his work, when Uprising is one of my all-time favorite games, especially for the dialogue.
Edit: Just finished the first 3 chapters and its really good. Written very much like its a set of stand-up bits, but its real easy to get through. It really makes me think of my own passionate nerdiness and the loved ones that have tried to level with me, despite the how much video games weren’t in their element.
Neat that they’re remaking one of the lesser played Harvest Moons. I’d love for them to take a crack at Magical Melody someday, but I’ll consider checking this one out.
The game I’m most interested in from the Direct is Pokémon Legends Z-A. The rank structure and exploration within Lumiose looks fun. I think I just gravitate towards games that also take place in fairly contained cities. It will be my first Pokémon RPG since X and Y.
Nobunaga’s Ambition & Romance has long been on my games to try. Not sure if it’d be better to start with SNES releases or the newer Switch games. I’ll take anyone’s advice on the matter though.
Corporate logos on jerseys suck, but I’ll make an exception for Nintendo. Hell, if this Mariners team is fun to watch, I’d consider buying a Nintendo-sponsored Mariners jersey.
I never knew that Korobeiniki wasn’t the original Type A theme! The original release of Tetris in Japan had the “Early Version” listed on the tracklist. Crazy, considering the later Type A theme is just so iconic with Tetris and cool for Nintendo Music to let people listen to Tetris 1.0’s Type A.
Splatoon 3. I have around 8 times more hours spent than my 2nd most game.
That 2nd game being Ring Fit Adventure. I probably could live without it, but it is such a good, quick home workout game, for cardio and core workouts.
This reminds me of the Mario Clock DSiware app I used across high school. It irritated my brother, since we shared a room, but he was a heavy sleeper anyways. Happy Mario Day!
Also, out of curiosity, what plays during Sleepy Sounds mode? Nothing from the original SMB soundtrack gives off anything you can listen to sleep to?
amiibo would be kind’vve a weird thing to cut off at this point for Smash Bros, Animal Crossing and Splatoon. Maybe not impossible to give the boot, but it still has the dedication for their individual fandoms.
Its Big Run Weekend in Splatoon 3. Get yourself some Scales at 3x the rate. Inkblot Art Academy is also a pretty good place to fight the Triumvirate, so you can come in with a good payday.
