I love the idea of remaking a game that had so many missteps. Enough remaking masterpieces that don’t need it like Metal Gear Solid 3. Remake the dirty stuff that has pontential for a bounce back like Lair or Sonic 06
Sounds cool. Sony should have never exited the handheld space. I do have to wonder though if consumers will turn on Playstation, if the ongoing response to this generation is that the PS5 is lacking in worthwhile exclusives and games that excites the Playstation fanbase.
If Ubisoft is selling away their old games, I’d love for someone to take a crack at rereleasing Outland, the Housemarque XBLA Metroidvania. But idk, you might also need to talk to Playstation for that one.
Very fascinated by these “dollhouse” games. I really never grew up with these types of games growing up, like Talking Tom, or Toca Boca. The best I had was Tamagotchi Corner Shop, which served similar purposes. I do feel like these games quietly change and will continue to change the culture of what people want in games from it often being their introduction. It kind’ve makes sense that Nintendo would want this to be a generation’s first Mario game.
Alot of that is because Nintendo is not interested in the live service bubble/trend. They’re audience knows the company for releasing traditional games and alot of their games have celebrated their predecessor’s spirit and legacy.
This game, more than anything else, has my attention because the Romeo is played by Antony Del Rio (Pit) and it’d be really nice to play another talky combat game with him as the lead, especially if Romeo and his back-grandpa have good banter.
The live service biz is tough. Crazy that Ninjala has gone for 5 years with active support. Thinking about all the games that were liked but fell short of Ninjala’s timespan of service, like Rogue Company and Knockout City.
Very weird that Mega Party Games’ box would merge the design of the NA/PAL GBA boxart with Japan’s blue color.
On a side note, what’s with Nintendo Life’s incorrect boxart for Warioware Inc’s Game Profile? They grabbed a boxart with the remade designs from Warioware Gold on it?
15 minutes is awfully short for an Indie World. I’m getting the feeling the idea that Nintendo is fumbling with Indie game support for Switch 2 is going to be amplified once this showcase is past.
Would love to see Beastieball, Dunecrawl, UFO50 or Battle Vision Network. But I also want to be surprised!
Pokemon Smile, a completely free toothbrushing game for kids, being amongst the lowest isn’t helping in the gamers unwilling to accept product is not for them allegations, or the poor hygiene allegations.
It was okay. Just Dance was neat and expected. Like to see when they go back a few decades for a good song choice like All Star. Although I could have sworn Counting Stars was already a track in Just Dance.
It did get me thinking “Do I need to get Madden 26?” I hadn’t played a Madden game since the 3DS title 14 years ago. It looked really good.
Pac-Man World 2 getting remade is freaky, because that is one of the first games I ever played and my first 3D Platformer.
Chillin By the Fire is the first time I took a bite out of a shadow dropped title from a Direct since Into the Breach. I love the idea of a deep fire-tending simulator as someone who’s watched a ton of Survivor. I’ll definitely try to utilize GameShare with it.
Nice to see some patches and balances. I already have over 100 hours with the game and one of my biggest complaints I had pre-patch was the Boomerang, which almost feels like an entirely new demon from when it was in Mario Kart 8. Gonna have to check it out to see if its less frustrating to weave against.
I’ve only played it for a couple nights with friends, but its fun. Having the camera reactions during Mario Party is the sort of bonus element that really works well. The stamp system has been removed in its place, which some friends were bummed about (those who spam them) and some who liked the change (those who are annoyed by the spammers)
The Frenzy Mode seems a bit meh to me. On the one hand, I like it more than a 10 turn party, because the first few turns in a Mario Party can be filler, so to just jump straight to the last 5 turns is a good kick in the step. But some strategies don’t make sense anymore and you only get one lap around the board at best. I ended up dominating my game, so it felt a bit more hopeless and boring for others since I had such a strong start with not much time to change it around. But it was only one example and I’m still amped to play more.
My friends and I finished Carnival Coaster already. Its an hour and half of gameplay and I don’t think there’s much incentive of returning, but we liked it for what it was. We like putting the blame on eachother and finding different ways to co-operate. Some really good minigames were highlighted too that I thought were particularly fun, like Toad-ally Electric Escape, Stuffie Stacker and Net Gains. But I also found the grading to always be either a little too lenient or a little too strict.
I never played Undertale, but I’m fond of Megalovania and seeing it in every rhythm game out there. I think watching a band performing the song for Pope Francis is untoppable, even if I played Undertale.
I bought the camera, mainly for local multiplayer. Its fun to play Mario Kart World with a full room and getting eachother’s reactions on the tv. Getting those reactions through the camera is actually the highlight towards the Jamboree TV expansion for me.
I’ve also used Game Chat with my friend and while he’s not fond of shrinking the gameplay window to see my face at all times, its still viewable through Mario Kart’s online mode. Its been neat. I hope more games continue to have camera functionality.
Although, the DS Mario Vs. DK games are better than the GBA game. Mario Vs. DK GBA can feel clunky and frustrating at times and the art style wasn’t even good for its time.
Pokemon with Layton puzzles sounds kinda sweet. I don't have any daily puzzle games in my rotation recently after being tired of Wordle & Disney Spellstruck, so I can see myself getting into this on the regular.
I’m at SL300 and I’m just not loving the game the game. I like the controls, movement and base mechanics, but the world and progression are just frustratingly not there.
This suffers the same issues I had of Mario Odyssey, where its a ton of collectables, but very few with meaning. Only Mario Odyssey still has great platforming bits and unique mechanics here and there. Bananza is mostly you punching rocks and finding hidden areas telling you to punch more rocks for a banana.
Its still very early on though and I don’t even have all the Bananza abilities, but I can’t help but feel like this is just systemically not my game. At this point, I’d rate it around a 6.
Interesting that they confidently went with young casting. Here’s hoping it works out and they enjoy having these roles attatched to them. The gamer crowd can be incredibly picky and judgmental about female casting and performances in general, so I wish Bo particularly the best.
These events are always cool to see. The test trial to Nintendo Switch Sports convinced me to get the game at launch. I hope Drag X Drive has sinilar appeal as a competitive game to unwind with as NSS gave.
The best part of Echoes is that it does a better job of rewarding your sense of exploration than most past Zelda games and its complemented by some great modes of traversal. It was my favorite game from last year, shortly ahead of Shadow Generations.
Pokémon 3 was the first movie I recall watching in the theatre. I remember the theatre experience being a little freaky at my young age, especially being pretty unfamiliar with Pokémon at the time.
My friends and I are doing all sorts of movie marathons right now. I could see us doing the Pokémon movie marathon.
I’m at 45 hours. Pretty much at the point where Free Roam for collectables is getting tricky and losing my interest. But, there’s no doubt the Vs. Multiplayer, both locally and online are going to maintain my interest for a long time. My friend and I were playing a ton of Knockout Tour and enjoyed it so much that it convinced him to trade his OLED he barely touched in the last year for a Switch 2.
I’ve not had my console overheat yet, but I’m only playing a couple games on there that may not be all that demanding in the same way Rune Factory might be. I remember it being a problem very early on with the Switch and Breath of the Wild, but it never crashed after the few instances in the first month or two.
I was playing Mario Kart World last night online and its not the same. Its very noticeably worse having to play without the old 3-lap structure. And I do like playing Intermissions as well for the record, but not every damn time, with a Randmon button that’s entirely useless. While I do think going on Metacritic and bombing the game is futile (where bombing a game on Steam actually has serious repurcussions for the developer), the critic reviews could have been altered if this change was active during the review period.
Great memories playing this game’s tournament modes during the 2006 World Cup. I remember it being particularly hard, especially when fighting against the Super Team.
I’m kinda surprised how much Hino is throwing Inafune under the bus. And I don’t think Hino is one to talk, given that a sequel to Fantasy Life has been such a slam dunk opportunity for so long, and its been so nearly squandered, or considering how Level 5 is organized in a somewhat chaotic fashion.
Why do people think you’re always given intermission tracks as your option? Its very clearly not the case and it shows you whether a track is an intermission or not depending on whether a dotted line appears from your current location in course selection.
As much as I like the intermission tracks, think they’re typically (not always) better designed than people give it credit for and I wish to play it more during online play, I don’t think this is the right choice. I like that random races do get a guaranteed traditional course.
I hope the reporting on this improves over short time because we don’t have the actual likelihood on how often random courses appear. We just get speculation in the article, when active examples continue to form.
@SalvorHardin I think the hardest thing Nintendo has put in a game would be New Super Mario Bros. 2’s “Impossible” Coin Rush DLC. I’ve put a ton of time trying to beat these 3 levels consecutively, as required, but I couldn’t ever finish the last level.
Nightmare Mode in Spiky Balls was hard, but it still took me fair bit under 2 hours to get 30 stars once you have a few tips up your sleeve.
I hope they changed the colors of the UFOs in Dodge the Spiky Balls Parts 3 & 4. Its wild to me that games like Welcome Tour often reinforce the idea that Blue represents Left Joy Con and Red represents Right Joy Con, but this game sets Left as Red UFO and Right as Blue UFO.
This small detail completely confused me for which UFO my hand controls and I ended up switching Joy Cons to opposite hands to try to correct this.
@Minfinity Really? I’ve only played Konga 1 and I don’t remember any Street Performance mode there? Does Konga 2 and 3 have different aesthetics from 1?
NOA at the time were really into this spray-paint urban style to counteract the claims that the company only made games for kids. It really doesn’t make sense in the context of Donkey Konga, but I do like this art and logo the most.
