I wish there was an update that allowed people in the same room to select their face on the camera, Mario Kart-style. Would be fun to have that feature locally.
@Dysnomia Hey, Yars Rising is good if you ignore the entire Metroidvania aspect of it (which unfortunately is like 90% of the game). It’s just so mediocre. Still, I enjoyed my time with the game. The more classic-style Yars stuff was fun, and I enjoyed the Atari references throughout the game. Killer soundtrack too!
And yeah, the Recharged games are great. I also really liked Mr. Run and Jump, Qomp 2, Kombinera and a few others.
@N8tiveT3ch they’ve actually had several really solid games come out over the last few years. I’m really into what they’ve been doing. Can’t wait for this one!
No reason to believe this. You can still download games you own on the Wii, and that wasn’t even close to being the digital console that Switch/Switch 2 is. Plus, calling the cart worthless makes it sound like you won’t be able to play the game, which simply isn’t true as long as you still have it installed.
Having said all that, I think these are dumb. Physical games should save memory, and digital games should be convenient. Neither is the case with key cards.
I agree with everybody that it should have been a pack in, but I do think it looks neat. I'll pick it up for sure. Of course it helps that I have a ton of credit at Gamestop after selling my Series X for a profit a few weeks ago.
@SalvorHardin I had a little trouble with Target crashing, but I just kept refreshing until it worked. Walmart was just a matter of waiting in line. Nintendo's website was totally fine once I got my email.
Eh, I took this game out of the library and decided after about 5 minutes I didn’t want to play. It was already getting on my nerves. Maybe it gets better, but I’ll never know.
Good news for Nintendo. They had the right analysts working on this. Can you imagine if they announced lower prices and then had to bump everything up before the thing even released or right after launch? Better to just shock everybody then have the rest of the market catch up-and the more that that happens before 6/5, the better.
I'm trying to understand all of this, and I'm a bit confused about this online license thing.
Right now, I have 3 Switches in my house. I have my primary console, my second console (which will soon be my son's console), and my wife's console. I am logged into all 3 consoles, and we play my games on all 3 (using the online "check" on the 2 non-primaries).
I've read this over and over again, and it sounds like you can use the virtual cartridges between two systems AND continue to play on additional consoles using the online check in if you turn on online licensing. Is that correct? Or is that only between the same two consoles you do the virtual cartridges with? Because I was under the impression it was one or the other, but this new language makes it sound like it'll continue to work the same way.
Got an email from Target this morning saying that the copy I preordered in November is delayed until April 4th. Pretty bogus. They gave me $10 off, though, so whatever. I'm still working on Ace Attorney Investigations anyway.
@Toastmaster not all of them (for example, I don’t think this one is coming to VCS, unfortunately), but many are there. Can’t wait to play that new Breakout on my VCS-gonna be great with that controller!)
Personally, I think this is ridiculous. 2 and 3 are two of my favorite games of all time. I dropped XCDE after like ten hours. I just thought it was boring and unfun. But hey-that’s me.
Looking forward to X next week! I only played like half an hour of it on Wii U.
I like the online subscription stuff, but like so many other people, I’d love to have the option to give them a few bucks to permanently own games from the collections. At the very least, it’d be nice if they said “if a game is ever about to get delisted, or the service is about to shut down, we’ll let you buy the games.”
I'm sure it's on its way out in the next year or two, and it's kind of a hard thing to recommend for a ton of reasons, but I love mine. Granted, I got it dirt cheap around the holidays. But the controller is basically a typical Atari joystick, but with twist controls (you twist the stick). All of the Recharged games and most of the other modern Atari games are available on the shop. I especially love playing Breakout Recharged, Asteroids Recharged and NeoSprint with this thing.
Like I said, kind of a hard thing to recommend to most people, and it's probably overpriced unless it goes on a huge sale again, but if you're looking to play these newer Atari games with twist controls, it's a darn good option. Happy to go into more detail if you'd like.
@topher6490 agreed, Atari and Nintendo are probably my two favorite video game companies these days. Just one awesome game after another from Atari over the last 5 years.
Atari has been awesome the last few years. Really solid games (I’ve especially enjoyed the Recharged games, Mr. Run and Jump, Qomp 2, Yars Rising and Kombinera, not to mention Atari 50, which is the the best retro collection ever), the 2600+/7800+, the 400 Mini, big acquisitions, official releases of cool homebrew games and long out of print/hard to find games…I know what they’re doing isn’t for everybody, but man, personally, I like them as much as any other company in gaming right now. Can’t wait to see what they plan on doing in 2025.
Oh, and I finally got a VCS when it was REALLY cheap around the holidays. Wish I had done it a few years earlier, I love it. Hard to recommend though.
Oh also, I’ve heard a few interviews with Wade Rosen on the All Things Nintendo podcast. Seems like good dude to me.
@DwaynesGames I’ve never been a big fan of WayForward. The Metroidvania aspect of this game was about what I expected. Glad everything else was so darn good.
@DwaynesGames Definitely one of my favorite gaming experiences of the year (as a big Yars/Atari fan), but it was a very mediocre Metroidvania with very enjoyable Yars and Atari stuff in it. The good outweighed the not so good, but man, I really struggle to call it a great game.
I had a great time. I 100%ed the main game (not all of the challenges you unlock). But I'd never recommend it to somebody looking for a good Metroidvania.
I played this garbage for about 10 minutes after using my code. I was planning on throwing it away, but figured I already paid, so what difference does it make. Not sure what you guys are talking about, it isn't fun at all. Also, where's the game I actually backed?
This guy is the worst. Can’t wait to throw my code away. And no, I will not be giving it away. I don’t want to be responsible for getting this stupid game in anybody’s hands. I hope nobody plays it.
I love Atari, and Yars' Revenge is my favorite Atari game, but I have almost no interest in this. I don't get why it'd be a Metroidvania (though I love the genre), and I don't like WayForward's games. Oh well.
Good news if it's true-I'm all for more games coming to Switch. Having said that, while this game has a pretty awesome vibe, I thought it was kinda boring.

“In a few years”.

Re: Video: Right, We Need To Talk About GameChat On Switch 2
My friends and I all love game chat. They did a great job with it.
Re: 12 Limited Run Switch Games Are Now Compatible With The Switch 2
Great news. Looks like some Activision titles are working now too (Tony Hawk 1+2, Crash Bandicoot trilogy...)
Re: Best Mario Kart Games Of All Time
Wii and Double Dash over World is insane.
Also, SMK is way too low. Super Circuit too, if you ask me, but more understandable.
Re: Poll: Do You Three-Star-Gold Every Mario World Grand Prix Before Moving On To The Next?
Nope, I couldn’t possibly care less about the stars. I just need the gold.
Re: Poll: So, What's Your Favourite Course In Mario Kart World?
DK Spaceport is easily my favorite.

I'm in the US, and I have preordered 5 without much trouble.

Heck yeah. Hotel Dusk was awesome, and I never did play Last Window. Would love to see this happen.
Re: Talking Point: Are You Excited At All For Switch 2 GameChat?
I have no interest in the camera or screen share features, but I'd certainly rather use this than dumb Discord to talk to friends while playing.
Re: Monster Boy's 120fps Update Could Come To Switch 2
I don't really care about this, but this game was awesome. I'm all for anything that gets more people to play it.

Re: Nintendo Switch Online Announces Removal Of Super Famicom Title
@N00BiSH but if you bought a game before they removed it from the shop, you can still play it. That’s a big difference!
Re: Nintendo Switch Online Announces Removal Of Super Famicom Title
@N00BiSH sure, I’m just saying, there’s a pretty big difference between delisting a game and removing a game from a subscription service.
Re: Nintendo Switch Online Announces Removal Of Super Famicom Title
@N00BiSH yeah, but if you bought them, you could still download them/play them. Still can.

Re: BIT.TRIP Runner Dev Is Bringing Back An Atari Classic With A Twist
@Teksette I'm referring to the "modern" console that came out within the last 5 years or so. This thing:
