Re: Hands On: MLB The Show 22 Tech Test Impressions - Sony Takes A Swing At Switch

Krambo42

@Yanina I really liked the RBI games, and they were getting better and better every year. I hate that they’re not making them anymore.

Anyway, I’m not really a guy who cares about graphics or performance, but I’m gonna sign up for 6 months of Gamepass on my XB1 instead of paying $60 for this Switch version. Might as well get a better version of the game (which will be outdated in a year and I won’t really have interest in playing after the MLB season anyway) and a bunch of “free” games for the same $60. Interest in a sports game is what finally got me to see the value in that service.

I hope that they improve the game between now and April for people who intend on playing it on Switch, though. Personally, I didn’t think the trial was so bad, but what do I know?

Re: Random: "I'm Able To Trust Sony More Than Nintendo" - Japan Reacts To The Closure Of The Wii U And 3DS eShops

@Timptation so people are allowed to voice their opinions as long as they share yours? And honestly, you seem like the one who sees the world as binary (“digital bad! Don’t buy!”, “you don’t see the problem? You’re wrong!”). I simply asked you what’s so bad about buying digital games when we have yet to see any negative outcome from doing so from Nintendo. I am aware of what could happen, but I’m still perfectly capable of weighing the pros and cons myself. It’s possible to see the potential for issues and still think it’s ok to make those purchases.

Whatever. We clearly don’t see eye to eye on many things, which is fine, but there’s no value in us continuing this conversation at this point.

Re: Random: "I'm Able To Trust Sony More Than Nintendo" - Japan Reacts To The Closure Of The Wii U And 3DS eShops

Krambo42

@Timptation I am absolutely allowed to be in these comments and have an opinion. Like I said in another post, I know this isn’t a GOOD thing, but I also don’t think it’s worth freaking out over at this time. Nothing is changing to games that we purchased for the foreseeable future. Whether or not what happens if and when that time comes matters is up to each individual, but it’s not even what this article is about.

Your “stop buying digital” statement does not apply to everybody, and frankly, is based more on fear of what could happen (which may not even bother many people) than facts at this point.

Re: Random: "I'm Able To Trust Sony More Than Nintendo" - Japan Reacts To The Closure Of The Wii U And 3DS eShops

Krambo42

@Timptation I still don’t follow. They are available. Why does the fact that they will no longer be available eventually mean I shouldn’t buy them while they are?

Not to mention, not everybody is worried about the doomsday scenario you’re talking about. I do not anticipate that support will end for many years. When it does, either

a) my games will still be playable on the hardware I own

b) my console will break and I will either replace it or not. If I don’t, who cares. If I do, I have to decide how many of my old games have NEED to play again. Of those, many will likely be available on newer hardware. Others may have physical copies out there on eBay or something. If there are any that were digital only and are unavailable on other hardware, sure, I won’t be able to play them, but at least I had fun for years when I first got it. Maybe it’s more important to just enjoy games than to have access to every single thing you’ve ever played until the end of time.

Re: Random: "I'm Able To Trust Sony More Than Nintendo" - Japan Reacts To The Closure Of The Wii U And 3DS eShops

Krambo42

@Timptation Why? Games that I bought are still playable and downloadable. Games that had physical releases still have physical releases. Games that were digital only may not have even been released if digital only weren’t an option. I really don’t see how this news means people shouldn’t buy digital. If anything, it means people should go out of their way to buy digital games they have interest in.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (February 5th)

Krambo42

Murder By Numbers is definitely an Ace Picross/Ace Attorney mashup…but fun? Ehhhh…

Boring story, unlikable characters, forgettable music and mediocre Picross. As a big fan of both Picross and (especially) Ace Attorney, I’d say it was one of the most disappointing games I’ve ever played. I really, really wanted to like it.

Maybe they’ll make MBN2 some day and it’ll be better. I’d love to feel the same way you do about it.

Anyway, I need to spend some time with Arceus. It was a busy week and I’m still only about five hours in. Really fun so far though!

Re: Step Up To The Plate, MLB The Show 22 Is Coming To Switch

Krambo42

@Bret I like the RBI games, and they've just been getting better and better every year. A little rough around the edges, buggy, presentation is kinda lacking, all that, but man, I don't know. They're fun. I'd even argue that the last one was good, and they've done enough to modernize the series (while having options to play retro-style, which I like) that just about any baseball fan could enjoy well enough it even if it's not on the same level as The Show.

I say this as a guy who loved RBI Baseball 2 on NES as a kid, though. I like that the newer RBI games maintain a lot of the feel. It's just how I want a baseball game to be, personally.

Re: Pokémon Legends: Arceus Is 'Exhilarating' And At Times 'Surprisingly Difficult' According To Japanese Media

Krambo42

@GenXGamer I know that makes sense to you, but I don’t think a lot of others would see it that way. It’s still stealing, especially for the games you decide you don’t want to buy. Not to mention, what makes it ok for you to play the game before everybody else?

If you want to try a game out, you can borrow from a friend or take it out of the library or something. There are legit, non-piratey ways of doing it.

Re: Kingdom Hearts Cloud Collection Arrives On Switch In February, Pricing Revealed

Krambo42

I really don’t mind the cloud gaming concept. I’m fine “renting” games (I don’t need to own everything I ever play until the end of time-several years is plenty in most cases), the pricing doesn’t bother me that much…I have concerns about performance, but I suppose that depends on the situation-I’ve actually heard this runs fairly well if you have decent internet, but I haven’t tested it myself yet. I actually think it’s a pretty cool way to get games on Switch that otherwise wouldn’t/couldn’t be there. I’d much rather buy like ten cloud games than have to put that money towards a next gen console just to be able to play them.

Having said that, there’s no reason for these games to be cloud games-they could easily run on Switch. 1 and 2 for sure, anyway. I can’t support this incredibly lazy “port”, and I won’t make compromises for no reason. Very disappointing.

Re: Feature: 14 Nintendo Switch Ports We'd Still Love To See

Krambo42

@Magician I want that 8-bit Adventure Anthology on Switch so bad. Really weird that it hasn’t happened yet. I actually reached out to the company that released it (can’t think of their name off the top of my head) a couple of times. One time they responded and did sound somewhat interested, but that was a long time ago.

Man, I’d love that.

Anyway, other than that, I’d love to see some form of Metroid Prime, every Ace Attorney game that hasn’t come to Switch yet, and as many Star Wars games as possible. Some other stuff would be cool, of course (I do love those Arkham games), but less essential for me.

Re: Star Wars: Hunters Shows The Force In Flashy New Trailer

Krambo42

A lot of negativity in the comments so far, so I’ll try something different.

Star Wars? And I can try it without spending any money? Yeah, I’ll give it a chance. I’m down for anything Star Wars.

May not like it, but if that’s the case, I’ll just delete it. But yeah, I’m looking forward to checking it out.

Re: Best Nintendo Switch Puzzle Platformers

Krambo42

@FishyS Oh totally agree and understand. That one baffles me more than others, though. Glad they liked it, and cool if anybody else does, but that game really didn’t work for me. Usually I can at least say “eh, not for me, but I get it”. Oh well.

Re: Best Nintendo Switch Puzzle Platformers

Krambo42

You know, I like this site, and I certainly understand that people have different opinions and all that, but I really, really do not understand why they like Horace so much. I hated my time with that game.

Other than that, cool list. Good combination of games I enjoyed and games I’ve been wanting to check out!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (November 20th)

Krambo42

Started Brilliant Diamond last night. Really enjoying it a couple hours in.

I’ve been a gamer since the NES but never really played Pokémon until the Switch. I loved Let’s Go Pikachu and I thought Sword was kinda boring…so far I’d say this is more in line with LGP. So that’s good. We’ll see if it stays that way, though.

Re: Review: A Boy and His Blob - An Experience That Has Aged Gracefully

Krambo42

@Not_Soos I’m not a WayForward fan either and I’ve been wondering the same thing. This game sure looks good, and it’s a remake of a game they didn’t make so maybe that helps…I just can’t get excited when people talk about WF games being good. Those guys know how to make games that look and sound great, but I don’t think they understand a thing about level design or enemy placement.
