@Classic603 Yeah, I pretty much agree. Prime 2 was a perfect sequel. I may not have liked it as much as 1, but it did a great job of shaking things up while maintaining the high quality of the original. Not everything about it worked, but man, I’m glad it wasn’t just 1 all over again.
@Classic603 2 is a great game, but it doesn’t really have the same “magical” feeling for me. Some of that is probably the fact that it wasn’t the first, but it’s other stuff too. I prefer the original’s pacing, environments, difficulty level, soundtrack...pretty much everything. Still, really solid game and a great follow-up. I’m probably due to replay it, actually.
Not sure what it is about 3, but I cannot get into that game. I’ve started it/given up twice. It just isn’t fun for me for some reason.
I mean, I’m sure it makes me sound like one of those “always love the newest thing” kind of guys (I really don’t think I am), but speaking as a guy who has been a huge gamer since the NES, I think that Three Houses, Xenoblade Chronicles 2, Stardew Valley and Shovel Knight are all contenders for a spot on my top 5 list. Hard to say what officially makes the top 5...all I know for sure is Metroid Prime is #1 and a Phoenix Wright game is somewhere in there.
@Socar Pretty sure it’s ok for a free website to talk about whatever they want to talk about. Especially since there are plenty of Nintendo fans who are interested in these games/played other related games on Nintendo platforms. I think it’s cool if somebody who played the PW trilogy for the first time on Switch sees this article and thinks “oh cool, I’ll check these games out”. I mean, this really isn’t much of a stretch for this audience.
As a huge AA fan, I was always interested in GT, and finally tried it on iOS a while back by playing the free episodes (before it was pulled, apparently). Man, that game stressed me out. I don’t think I could handle the whole thing...
@tkdboy1889 Also, to be clear, I do think it’s significantly worse if physical games launch with issues. People who buy physical often do so for preservation, saving memory, etc. A cartridge is significantly less “valuable” if the game needs patches. But for a digital game? Eh, I just don’t think it’s a big deal, personally.
@tkdboy1889 I see what you’re saying, and like I said, it’s certainly not ideal...but I don’t totally agree with what you’re saying. Using your restaurant scenario, I mean...there’s a difference between being hungry and having limited time to fit the meal into your schedule and just wanting to enjoy your hour-long experience rather than being stuck there for twice as long getting bored and frustrated and just wanting to play a video game, which can really happen anytime. Plus, what’s the alternative? If a game isn’t ready, they can either release it/patch it later or delay it. Either way you have to wait to play the fixed version. Might as way get it out there to be in line with their marketing/people’s expectations. Lots of people probably don’t care about the issues anyway. I don’t have this game yet (ordered from LRG), but I’ve seen plenty of people say it’s playable/enjoyable. Frame rates and stuff like that don’t really bug me, I’m sure I’d be one of those people if I played it.
I don’t know, it just doesn’t bother me. Mildly annoying, maybe.
I’m not saying it’s ideal, but I honestly don’t understand why people get so upset when games launch with issues and get patched. I mean, it’s a little frustrating to have to wait a bit if you’ve been looking forward to a game, but as long as they get it working, what’s the big deal? This is getting patched pretty quickly, too.
There are plenty of reviews, articles, videos, message boards, etc. out there so you know what you’re getting into. If it sounds “broken”, don’t buy it. If they never bother to patch it, that’s bogus. But if it gets patched, isn’t that the game you wanted in the first place? Why get mad about it?
Well, now that this is official, this is the most excited I’ve been for a game since...I don’t know, Metroid Prime 2 (sequel to my favorite game of all time)?
Playing Donkey Kong Country 3 for the first time. Finished world 6 last night. It’s...ok. Pretty easily my least favorite DKC game, but it’s fun enough.
EDIT-ok, I’m at Lightning Look-out now. I no longer think this is what I will be playing this weekend.
@Sourcecode I honestly don’t think I am, I think people who hate the new stuff just really like letting people know they hate it and it seems like there’s a lot more of them...but yeah, there’s no denying that there is an unfortunate number of people who don’t seem happy. Hopefully more universally-liked stuff comes out in the future.
@Sourcecode Sounds like a fun, positive “fan” group to be a part of.
I’m 37 and I’ve been a huge Star Wars fan since the 80s. I’m also not lying when I say I’ve been enjoying the HR so far. Admittedly, Into the Dark is my least favorite of the books, but I still enjoyed it. Not sure why you’d let the name of a ship and one minor character (who frankly I don’t even see the problem with) ruin the whole thing for you, but whatever. Sorry you’re not enjoying it, but come on, you can’t honestly believe that it’s so offensively bad that nobody could possibly enjoy it.
I don’t expect everybody to like everything of course, but man, I say Star Wars is as good as ever right now. The sequels were better than the prequels (especially Last Jedi, which is a top 3 SW film for me), Rogue One and Solo were cool, Rebels was outstanding, Mandalorian has been a blast, some of my favorite SW books ever have come out of the new canon, there have been several really solid comics, and yeah, I dig what they’re doing with the High Republic and can’t wait to see where it goes. I seriously have no idea why so many people are so down on all of this, it’s such a good time to be a fan. It really feels like some people don’t even want to like the new stuff and decide not to before they even check it out (not necessarily saying you’re one of those people). But if you truly don’t like what they’re doing, at least let other people enjoy it and just hope you like the next thing they do. There’s plenty of Star Wars content out there and plenty more coming. You’re bound to not hate something.
Definitely gonna order. I will buy any Star Wars game that comes to Switch, and I will buy it physically if that is an option. I don’t really even care about physical games, I just like owning Star Wars things.
Anyway, as far as this game goes, I have it on my XB1, but I’ve barely played it. Really enjoyed what I did play though! Looking forward to really getting into it on Switch.
Hoping for more SW game announcements soon! I would absolutely love Shadows of the Empire.
Probably my favorite multiplayer experience of all time. I’d love to see them bring this to Switch with local and online play. It’d be great to revisit and more people need to experience it!
These guys make great pinball games and I wish them nothing but the best, but Star Wars Pinball is all I need. I just don’t see buying or playing any other pinball games. But man, yeah, SW Pinball is amazing.
I’m all for cloud gaming, as long as it’s only used for games that really cannot run on Switch. I wouldn’t want to live in a world where they’d take the easy way out instead of actually porting Doom/Doom Eternal, Witcher 3, etc...but for the even more demanding games, which we’re gonna see more and more of as we get deeper into the PS5/XBox Series S/X generation, man, sign me up. I know they’re streaming and I’ll lose access to them eventually and all that, but man, I could buy like 8-10 cloud games with the amount of money it’d take just to buy one of the new consoles.
Doesn’t sound like I should expect much of that right now, though. Oh well. I tend to not like most games like that anyway. I’m more of a Nintendo/Nintendo-style/indie guy.
Stardew is a top 3 Switch game for me, and my most played by far. Haven’t touched it in a while, though. Maybe I’ll check out this 1.5 stuff soon. Man, what a fantastic game.
I will try any Star Wars game, and if it’s free, yeah, no reason not to check it out. But I don’t have high hopes.
Also, @dojmin-I don’t know man...SW Pinball is pretty great. On top of being a great pinball game, the presentation is fantastic. I’d recommend it to anyone who wants something Star Warsy. I’ve had more fun with it/it has done a better job of scratching that Star Wars itch than any of the SW games I have for XB1.
I will buy any Star Wars game that comes to Switch. I have this one on my XB1. I’ve only played a little, but it seems cool. I’d be down for playing more Switch. What I really want is some more of the old Nintendo Star Wars games, though. Super Star Wars trilogy, Shadows of the Empire, Rogue Squadron trilogy (and Battle for Naboo)...those are the games I REALLY care about. Oh, and unrelated to Nintendo, bring KOTOR over already. But yeah, this would be a welcome addition too.
@Sourcecode Hey, just speaking up for the sequel lovers! I have no intention of getting into it beyond that. I stopped having fun talking about Star Wars with strangers on the internet a long time ago.
Man...I don’t get this genre at all. Not one game on that list that is even remotely appealing to me. Still, I always appreciate a good “best of” list from Nintendo Life!

@Bizzyb Fantastic. Great pinball and really cool presentation. Lots of content. They did a great job with it.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (April 24th)
Still pecking away at Kaze. Not really enjoying it but oh well. I’ll beat it. It’s fine.
Also, I picked up Macbat 64 after really liking Toree. I’m a few levels in, it’s pretty fun. I’ll probably knock out the rest of that.

Re: Poll: What's The Best Mega Man Game?
I used to consider myself to be a big Mega Man fan, but at this point I’d say the only ones I care about are:
2 (one of my favorite games ever)
1
X
4
11
Probably in that order.
